I’ve see a bunch of your Star Wars reviews, and now I’m happy to see a Wind and Truth review of yours too. I was sure to firmly - yet respectfully - smash the subscribe button this time. I think this book shows Sanderson’s biggest flaws as a writer and his biggest strengths as a storyteller. Some shaky dialogue and individual moments that fall flat or feel over indulgent. But then he’ll absolutely nail an ambitious character arc or triumphant twist. All are on display at all-time highs, in my opinion. So while I thought the book had some messy chapters and I had to slog a bit through some of the middle sections, the final two hundred pages offset much of my preceding frustration. As a self-contained story, its flaws might leave it as my least favorite in the series once I’ve had more time to digest the behemoth I just finished. But the ending does a tremendous job making me excited for what’s to come in books 6-10. In that sense, this book is an absolute success for the Stormlight Archive even if it’s less successful as a novel in its own right.

I need to break into Sanderson next year
I'm constantly scanning your bookshelves to see if you have Matthew Stover's Acts of Caine series anywhere haha
10 hours is a total marathon
Andrew's Wizardly Reads sounds like he's feeling the same way. A 1300 page book, any way you (don't) cut it, has to have a lot of filler.
Satire!
Just finished it 🫠. Still processing, but so good
