I took advantage of the Monos early Black Friday sale and finally added monos carry on luggage to my luggage family. I was so excited to unbox and review it, and I'll admit... nervous about how unbreakable the outer shell was going to be. So at the end of the video, I test it out! Testing + Unboxing MONOS Carry on luggage
This Monos carry on luggage is the carry on size (not carry on plus). It is 22 x 14 x 9, and actually measures a little smaller than that. It only weighs 7 pounds, which is PERFECT for stingy airlines that weigh your carry on bag.
Could this be the best carry on luggage? Does it pass my luggage scratch test? Is monos really unbreakable?

Hi Lauren, just wanted to let you know that I’ve been watching your videos for sometime now, and really love all the ones you do! I recently reviewed several of your monos reviews to make a final decision. And I pulled the trigger today on Black Friday, 2023 and got the Monte carry-on and black on sale for $153 with tax about $163 and free shipping. I’m all set for my Netherland trip for my birthday December 2023!

Over a year later and it’s still in great condition, as well as my other monos bags!
I have the Monos carry on regular and medium luggage piece in Terrocato love it I love the compression features in bag bought mine in 2021 after Christmas great does get scratches easily very sturdy I've only used my carry on checked it once leaving Greece one minor scratch they give you dry eraser to remove scratches worked fairly well their customer service is amazing.
We just purchased 2 of the Monos hybrid carry on. So pretty. Now we need to travel somewhere.

They do have a clear luggage cover for each size! They do help with the scratches

Hi! This review helped me make a choice to buy a Monos; and I just wanted to add my experience: I was in a car accident last night on my way to airport- rear ended by a semi-truck. (I’m ok!) My Monos luggage survived inside the crushed trunk!! Completely! Aside from a few scuffs. 10/10 product, it really is holding its own. Thanks for helping me decide to buy one!

Happy to see this review. I was waiting for the Beis Black Friday sale but too many people are complaining about not receiving their items or customer service not responding at all so now I am a bit apprehensive about ordering from them, especially with the the heavy traffic they will receive this Black Friday and I have a lot of work trips coming up. This was the other brand I was considering and you sold me.
I do recommend Monos over Beis if you are looking to invest in only one bag. I LOVE my Beis bag but it is too big for all airlines. This carry on size from monos is PERFECTION.
I think I see the Beis backpack in maple. May you please review that, we would love to see it upclose lol.

As everyone who knows me knows… I don’t do wheels anymore but I know you do and I can still see the logic for most travelers so…
I’ve actually never even clicked on a Monos review since I’m not in the market so I was pleasantly surprised to see the details on the inside. Although I have always been into packing cubes which truly necessary for soft 40 L convertible backpacks I would still use them with hard sided luggage yet the front side zip around enclosure with the mesh is actually pretty well done it appears… almost negating the need for packing cubes.
On the opposite side I would be cynical about the compression system except that I have a cabin bag that opens in suitcase orientation which has this and after my first trip I immediately was happy with the design.
Especially when ROLLING larger items such as sweaters or pants they do not sneak around the compression board and works very well.
As far as your hilarious videos on how scratch resistant these products are I must say that I grew up watching my family pack their ancient leather trimmed or entirely leather suitcases of which I still have a few and I’m all for a patina but obviously a plastic hard side will just “ugly-scratch”. I like that you’re comparing the big names in this way (although I did cringe when you scratched it along the asphalt outside!)
Definitely looks better than the away scratches I’ve seen in airports.
BTW. You’re WOO at 6:34 had me in giggles! Don’t you love it when measurements are accurate!
I would probably do the packing cubes on the compression side and random things on the zippered side maybe. Like shoes in the shoe bag ;)
@@ItsTheKellys I can see that but even my non-compressing packing cubes don’t reach 10cm so there would still be a little space… But then again it’s winter and everyone needs another puffer!
This is why even during the start of the pandemic with travel stalled it was just as much fun to comparison-shop travel gear… Almost as fun as travel itself!

I purchased the July Carry On Light a couple of days ago. I watched your review on their bag, and that really helped with my decision, so thank you! Can’t beat the durability, but the fact the Carry On Light comes in under 5 lbs, I was sold! Can’t wait to receive it and try it out!

i bought 2 of the expandable light july cases too, one in the Clay color and the other in Forest for me and the hubby for our international flights. ive always been "pro-carry on only" whenever possible but our desire/need to travel internationally is slowly convincing hubby to consider carry on lol you know he's been spoiled by southwest's free checked in bags
I wanted the July carryon light but it has no side handle so it was a hard no for me. Did you find you could lift it easily without a side handle?
After going to Nordstrom and comparing beis and monos. I got the monos larger carry on. The zippers and built just was better all around. The beis was already dented (and that is out of being in display). But it is larger. Glad to see this video and that it is pretty scratch resistant as that was my one fear.
Thanks for letting me know! My beis has held up very well, but the zippers are not YKK so that is always a concern. I will compare them in a video tomorrow if you are still curious!
@@ItsTheKellys that is awesome. I am waiting for my monos carry on plus to arrive. Will say the main things Beis did win on is that it is thicker so definitely a bit more capacity (even without the extension), but that rested a bit from how stable it felt.. The material also felt thicker which probably is more resistant or at least less prone to scratches but the threads coming our and that huge zipper dent put me off. One thing too was that with the monos plus pro (versus the regular model), the outer shell was smaller so they could add the outter pocket and this was not advertised. I am super happy nordstrom carried all of this so I could see it IRL and test them all as I did not find many videos comparing them all :). Glad you guys are doing it now!

@@ItsTheKellys took it on my first travel, funnily my friend who hosted me had a Beis she had just taken to Hawaii, I am soooo glad I went with Monos, dragged it through the whole of DC streets and metro (including on my way back in the rain) and it is perfect. No scratches, her Beis has scratched in the wheel connector part :( although the Beige is nicer than the grey I saw at nordstrom. Also checking my carry on plus one in the American Airlines measurer made me see that the monos plus is just as thick as it can be (so can see how the expandable away and Beis can be an issue). So far, I am in love! Trip two (first international coming up next week). This will be the fire proof!

I took advantage of their Black Friday deals too and bought a Monos Carry-On Pro white color for $175. I'm not the biggest fan of the color, but for that price I can honestly put my dislike aside and take that price and run with it.

Yes it fits in everything. It’s the smallest carry on there is :)
Not sure if you mentioned but what is the difference between the regular and plus?
the plus is the larger carry on. It is mostly good for domestic travel within the US, a little too big for international or other countries.

No, they are pretty sturdy!

Im not sure you have ever done this, but once the Monos carry-on is completely opened, what are the depths of each side in inches? Is it 4.5 inches on depth for each side since it's supposedly 9 in depth from the outside? Thnx

Wait, you can't travel with it for the 100 days?? That is weird. Why would they do that?
From my understanding, anything you see that you don’t like about the luggage (like color or how it wheels around your house or the size of it or how the handle feels) is something that can be done right away upon delivery. You will know if you like it or not.
After usage, anything “wrong” with it would be more of a warranty issue. Like a wheel or a zipper breaking.
That’s why I try to do really in depth reviews, to help people make decisions :) a lot of luggage companies have similar rules
How do you feel plastic protectors
I would never. Even if I end up being forced to check. That’s why I often test the surface of the luggage 💕
I feel it would be like carrying a Louis Vuitton purse with plastic over it.
If it was strictly checked luggage, maybe. But that’s not a worry for me personally :)
@@ItsTheKellys that makes sense, I am now off to look for one of your videos on the Terrazzo monos. It cost me an additional $160, on top of the base price to ship it to where I live in the US Virgin Islands ( why I am not so sure) but because of that I want to be sure
