Tom, I turn 54 tomorrow, started playing guitar just a couple of years ago and while the toll of the years of manual labor has messed my hands up quite a bit, I have found that Homeskoolin' has inspired me to work through it and I have definitely seen the fruits of my labor pay off. I thank you for that! - Bugs
“I’m just glad he’s alive”....As obviously great as you are at your craft, being a loving dad is the most important job you’ll ever have...and you know it. My boys are 25 and 19 now, and many’s the time we’ve dodged a serious injury or other catastrophe and I would think the same thing. Glad Leo’s ok.

Dude...seriously, you're the talk of the internet guitar community right now. SO MANY guitar youtubers are recommending your channel now. Cheers, you deserve it.
Hey Tom, all the way from Scotland again. Just want to say you made my day. The fact that you’ve taken the time to read my question, and actually thought about it enough to take the time to answer it is amazing and for that sir, I thank you. The great Tommy B spoke to me last night. After watching it, I cracked open a beer, light a cigarette and stepped outside with a big smile on my face satisfied with the feeling that a living legend just spoken to me. ;)
Loved the "life lesson" comment at 13:40. And you touched on it being a lesson not easily learned, which is perplexing. As someone who acquired a disability about 6 years ago, I have been truly amazed at the kindness and generosity of people I don't even know.. I would have never guessed. But it's people like you Tom that by nature think of others before you think of yourself. A small, simple act of putting yourself out there unveiled a whole new world for a whole bunch of people. Like you say, "The more you give to the world, the more you get in return". You are a good Man Tommy Bukovac! Someday I will see you live.
Hey Buk...glad to hear Leo is ok. Hope he is back ‘up to 11’ real soon! I’ve been an intermediate bedroom and garage guitarist for a couple years now and I hit the self-taught wall. I had just been falling back on the same old boring tunes and the same old boring licks. But you have inspired me more than any of my other guitar idols ever could. So I finally started taking face to face lessons and I’ve been practicing and playing more than I ever have and I’m loving it. I’ll never be a session man or a touring musician, but I aspire to be a great guitar player. You’ve put that fire in my belly and ignited my passion for guitar like never before and for that I am forever grateful. 🎸🔥 Homeskoolin’ mug and Premium Tone green tee to be delivered Monday...can’t wait brother!

Sorry to hear about Leo's hospital visit. Hope he's back to normal quickly. And thanks again for the awesome content. Look forward to your videos every day!
Tommy you make my day ...im a big STP fan I'm in San Diego..my friend Jeff Snider a local great guitar player gave Dean lessons...love your show....and your fabulous insights..
Mummy toes made me laugh out loud! I took a 64 Mustang to Glaser a few years ago. It was my grandfather's and he had it in his attic for 20 odd years. It was in terrible shape and I remember one of the guys at Glaser saying we're gonna have to replace those "mummy toes." This is only the second time I've ever heard that term and it gave me a good chuckle. The guys at Glaser did an amazing job on that Mustang. The neck was extremely warped and I was hoping they could just get it halfway decent so that I could play cowboy chords on my grandpa's guitar. When I picked it up I was shocked all to hell at how low the action was. I actually asked them to raise it, so that I could play it better. They do amazing work. Anyhow, thanks for the videos, Tom. I've already said too much.
Great drummer Jeff Porcaro used to "fire himself" from time to time. There were times where he just wasn't satisfied with what he had played on a session, and he would call up the "perfect drummer" for the part.
I know i am off subject, but i just watched that behind the scene with Gordon Mote you posted a few years ago. Wow! the playing, the mastering of the harmony and nuances, the level of musicianship. Breathtaking and moving. all at the sametimes. Thanks for sharing his immense talent.
Hey Tom, your enjoyment and reasons for doing this daily video sound a lot like what Leland Sklar has stated. He just started doing a daily vlog when the big "V" thing hit. He often mentions about how much he enjoys doing it, and how he loves interacting with his TH-cam viewers. He says he's gonna continue doing it, even after things get better out there.
Little Tommy- been an admirer listening fan for 12+ years, subscriber to your channel for many years before 2020. You have a late night garage improv on here that was maybe 8-10 years ago, I can't recall. I listened 100 times and figured out 1 lick. Learning SO much from all these lessons. I told my wife that even though I'm not really practicing more (time wise), I'm practicing SO much smarter and my feel has improved tremendously in a short time. Now I learn from this what a fan you are of STP and I feel like i've entered the "brotherly love" stage. If you tell me you are a huge fan of Ian Thornley then I'll need to whisper sweet love of affection in your ear!!! Great show dude!!
Hey Tom My wife and I went to see Beatlemania many years back, it was amazing. I'm glad you enjoy making the garage videos, we sure love watching them. You now have 29.4K new friends. Happy that Leo is well..........
Hey Tom- I’ve played guitar for 25 years and have always loved playing, but I’ve never been able to break through and write original music. After watching your videos, something in your playing and the way you approach the instrument has inspired me and I now can’t stop them from coming. I greatly thank you for what you’re doing. Keep ‘em coming!
Tom, you know you're doing well on TH-cam when they put 4 commercials in your 19 minute video!! I also saw Beatlemania as one of my first concerts. First concert was YES in the round on the Tormato tour. Thanks again for the wonderful videos
I think one of the unfortunate side effects of having so much info at our disposal is it can discourage or make it really difficult to find a pure path to your own intuitions. It results in people really never strengthening that muscle so they dont know what sound theyre going for, rather they end up filtering through the endless data bank of sound references. An exercise Ive been doing is listening to a mix of something I recorded and throwing eqs on different tracks, moving around sliders just to see what sounds right to me without any kind of agenda or likewise, just closing my eyes and asking myself if the sound is hitting me right. Same with compressors etc. its tough but I think super valuable to exercise those muscles.
So cool you have contact with Dean! I love STP, have since way back. Was lucky enough to see them open for the Rolling Stones, summer of 1994, I think, in Toronto. It was the Purple album and Voodoo Lounge. Amazing gig. We were 35th row center, saw it all clearly. STP was great!
Hey Tom, whenever I hear one of your kids crying I jump out of my seat and run upstairs to check what is happening. I'm usually playing when kids are asleep so I freak out when there is kids noise. Good you immediately said its your kids this time, saved me a sprint! Your stuff is awesome, can't thank you enough!
Thanks so much "Uncle Larry", excellent, down to earth, you make these so personal, it's like hangin' with you for this 20 minutes in person. Keep on rockin'. God Bless you and your family
man tom , so glad your boy is alright. I know for me I continue to look forward to watching the show each time for the absolute passion that always comes from each episode. it truly is something special you have created. you have brought together such a strong and genuine crowd of musicians and lovers of music and best of all you have done it in such an honest down to earth and intimate setting. bravo...thanks for the influence....
Deans' chords voicing are so inspiring and Roberts bass lines are as melodic as McCartney and yet the tunes are heavy and rocking. One of my favorite bands.
Well a day late, but I wanted to say that I'm really enjoying the Homeskoolin series a ton. Bought a shirt to support ya and I learned "Sour Girl" today! Wish ya the best Tom!
Who would have thought a Dude in a garage filming himself on a phone. Create problems the best guitar show I've seen. Please never leave the garage. It's so real and raw plus the wisdom you share with us all is amazing. Watching from New Zealand. I can't give you anything but if you ever come here to my City of Christchurch you can have our family AirBnB completely free.
Hey Tom, I just remembered that I've seen you live before, at Fiddler's Green in Colorado in August of '17. The show was a tribute to commemorate Jim Guercio, Barnstorm and Dan Fogelberg's induction into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame. Garth Brooks, Vince Gill, Amy Grant, John Oates, the Lumineers, and many others performed. My uncle was the caterer and we went backstage and watched Vince and Amy soundcheck, and then hung with the other guys from Barnstorm and Firefall when everyone ate. I wanted to know what you remember about that show and hanging with all those people, it was so insane to watch. Thanks a lot, love the videos, fuck Gildan. Hudson
Hi Tom, Wow! All of these years I have been thinking that one of these bands: Yes, Kinks, and/or Gentle Giant was my first concert (I couldn't remember exactly which one), but it is not to be, I just realized that I too saw Beatle Mania in 1976/1977 at the Shubert Theater in Philadelphia!! Just goes to show - this Homeskoolin' thang is a deep complex therapeutic for the masses - Thank You!
Hey Tom , your passion and love for music and gift to share it is why I don’t miss a show . You are likable because you have the same for people it seems . Hope Leo continues to be ok . Wish you and family the best
Tom your videos are amazing I was a late starter and am not a natural. I love music and guitar to my bones. I put your videos on the big screen and watch over and over to hopefully pick up some of your magic. Thanks so much for the inspiration!
Oh, no! Poor, Leo. My 4yo fell off the couch last night and conked his head too. I'm glad they're both okay. Steve Hackett? Wow! That must have been exciting.
absolutely love STP they did a free outdoor show in Morristown NJ when they were first starting to take off, became a fan immediately and knew they were heading to the big league, stoked your in collaboration, hope you guys take it somewhere, peace.
Love learning from your professional experiences. Thanks for being generous and open with the things you've learned. Thanks for sharing and taking the time. 🤙🏼
Wow, these videos are awesome! The first time I heard you play was on your rig run down with Primer Guitar and started checking out things you've played on but these are really a new level. Personal, direct, and thoughtful. Thank you for making these and sharing your insights. I feel like studio folks don't get enough widespread regard since they work on the back end of it all but it seems like TH-cam is a great place for people like you and Tim Pierce to have the venue to reach other musicians in a great way. Hopefully, when all this finds a way to calm down, these can continue in some way! Thanks!
Hey Tom, great episode mate. That was super interesting...STP what a band. Thanks for the lessons. Been strumming almost every day since I was 14, I turn 50 in a couple of weeks. The insight on how to refine playing that your teaching here is just priceless man....I feel like I've taken up a new instrument. Thanks a million.
Congrats on all the views Tom!(well deserved) We’re glad you and the family are well. Thanks for going down this rabbit hole and opening doors. This has taken me on a virtual trip of Nashville guitar gurus. Great Message today! Stay true, go for the Grammy. Hope to see ya there soon!
It's really, really annoying that the ads pop in at random times, BUT, I'm glad you figured out how to monetize these--you've really got something here. I love these.
My God!! I am a HUGE STP fan and I have always thought that Dean is such a underrated guitar player ! But if I could ever get the pleasure and fortune to hear anything that you guys could do together my mind would be blown away! I also need to have that in my life ! Your lessons/show have made me a better player and just a better listener. Thanks so much !!!
Uncle Larry!! Man, I love your videos. You inspired this ol West Virginia hillbilly boy to get back out and play. Been writing music for a while and the world ain't heard it yet. Keep doing what you're doing, man!
the DeLeo bros are so underrated. Grateful to have been able to watch them live with the original line-up. Anyway..get well, Leo. More power to this channel. Great great stuff. Love from Manila!
Hey Tom! Thanks for the insight and all the cool vibes you send out into the world. Just got a tshirt. Hoping to rep the home schooling family when they let us start gigging again!
Great video as always Tom! As an audio engineer that’s exactly it. You hear it in your head and just have to make it come out of your speakers. Sometimes volume balances, sometimes compression, sometimes EQ. And sometimes nothing. Sometimes knowing when to not do anything is the best.
Thank you so much for doing these shows! It’s become something I look forward to every day. The stories, the music, the lessons, the insight ... all of it. 😊👍
Hey Tom Thank you so much for these videos during this Iso period. Insightful and inspiring. Cheers dude! Absolute legend. If you’re ever in Australia hit us up. Owe you some beers.
Just ordered my shirt! I kept checking to see if they were available. I would like to say, I definitely could tell a difference in you from the first few volumes and the later ones. Your energy is completely different. Kinda goes with what you said about past projects, pictures n such. If you were to go back to volume 1 of the Corona lessons, I think it would be just like looking/listening to past works.
Hey Tom, you are definitely making an impact on our playing man! Thank you so much! So many chord shapes, it has been much needed. We will all be bad ass rhythm players, year end! If you ever run into my cousin Robbie vaughn, tell him lee said hey!
Hey Tom! Great video. Got my GHoT shirt today. Couple more on the way including the new green Rolling Rock shirt. Thanks again for doing these, and glad to hear Leo is ok.
Tom, Thanks so much for the video post... You're so right about what you're sharing on this! "What you give is what you get"! So simple and so true! This is a little selfish but, I truly hope you get back busy with the session work, but I hope you continue with the "Homeskoolin" sessions too! Still finding time for us... :-))
Thanks, life lessons received. It seems to me in my iso world here in Maple Ridge, BC ,Canada; that you found your voice in your Homeskoolin. As much as your guitar playing, technique, and pure musicality is so great, the willingness to share is well beyond. Good things can come from a world pandemic and this definitely one.
Hey Tom I send my love to you guys. Things are already tense around the US and around the world. Having an incident with a kiddo makes everthing that much worse. I wish you all the best.
Great video as usual Tom! Sour Girl is such a great tune from No. 4, thanks for reminding me how awesome the De-leo brothers are too! Hope you and your family are safe and well, have a good weekend.
Thank you very much for sharing so much with us. I’ve tried a few of your suggestions- rounded part of the pick at the octave is amazing - but more than anything I’ve found that since listening to you play and talk my mind and ears are freed up. I’m back to trying new touches or places rather than merely practicing “parts” or what I “need” to. It’s like I’m 16 again, discovering... curiosity is the soul of learning. What a sweet gift you give.
Ah, Steve Hacket..... a good friend of mine, Jonas Reingold from Sweden is touring with Steve since, maybe 4-5 years (currently "was"-nobody´s touring these days). He is the bass player in his band. I´m from Vienna/ Austria where Jonas lives now, I´m making a pretty good living as a pro muscian here since 40 years, doing lots of live, studio, tv work, built a private university here in Vienna from scratch, 10 years ago. I like your videos very much! The things you say about music like "you gotta hear it in your head first"- that´s all so true. I like your touch on the guitar very much- very inspiring. I like! 👍
You are going to be HUGE... when you get past all your talent and achievements... your “coolness”... you are honest and real... no acting going on here folks.... the world needed someone like you during all this madness... and the universe provided.
You are amazing. Thank you for sharing yourself with us. This a perfect example of image vs. substance. You, behind the scenes, have made "stars" possible. But for Beato, or maybe Shull mentioning you on one of their segments, I would have never found you. Who would have known such a fucking rock star existed in Nashville?
Wow Sour Girl! Big STP, Yes, Genesis fan here too, I'm in good company. Yeah Dean and his bro are awesome. I saw one of Scott's last shows in a little bar in downtown Vegas, it was so bitter sweet - sadly I felt like I knew what was too come. It's nice to hear how you work at on your sounds and loops till the they sound right too you, how you work at it. Would be a great indepth video. Glad you're boy is ok!...Hi and love to the family. Great show Tom...thanks!
A lot of what Tom knows is from experience and can only be gained by putting time into it. There is no silver bullet to cause your sound or playing to get better overnight. Use your ears and don't give up trying to get what you want.
Hey tom, great episode as usual! You remind me of this older guy i us to play guitar with when i was 12. He was like 17 and showed me some cool stuff as we used to play clapton unpluged! I wish i was your nabor and i could just listen to you and maybe drop by once in a while. You are really a cool guy to take the time to share this with us. I apreciate it a lot! Thanks man
Maybe the greatest writers of our generation. Robert and Dean are amazingly underrated. Hit, after hit, after hit.....

Love love love “Sour Girl”. The McCartney overtones in that song are epic!
part of it sounds like black hole sun but since I think a lot of those grunge guys all knew each other that should not surprise me

Thanks for another great one Buk. Glad your little guy is ok. Give him a hug for all of us.
Just want to say a big thank you for these amazing videos, Tom. You have inspired me to practice more! Cheers and stay safe man!
Hey Tom , your passion and love for music and gift to share it is why I don’t miss a show . You are likable because you have the same for people it seems . Hope Leo continues to be ok . Wish you and family the best
Glad to hear Leo is okay and thanks for featuring Sour Girl - a wonderful song. Glad I got in and got one of the Rolling Rock T-Shirts early!!
Tom your videos are amazing I was a late starter and am not a natural. I love music and guitar to my bones. I put your videos on the big screen and watch over and over to hopefully pick up some of your magic. Thanks so much for the inspiration!
Tom you're playing is so smooth and crisp, it's like watching a 4k vid😄 thanks for the vids.
Oh, no! Poor, Leo. My 4yo fell off the couch last night and conked his head too. I'm glad they're both okay.
Steve Hackett? Wow! That must have been exciting.
There is such a great spirit to these videos it goes beyond the music.
absolutely love STP they did a free outdoor show in Morristown NJ when they were first starting to take off, became a fan immediately and knew they were heading to the big league, stoked your in collaboration, hope you guys take it somewhere, peace.
Love learning from your professional experiences. Thanks for being generous and open with the things you've learned. Thanks for sharing and taking the time. 🤙🏼
Best wishes to Leo...and to Sarah! The mom sympathetic vibration thing is something else!
Holy cow! Sour Girl is my favorite STP song and "Uncle Larry" just NAILED it :) Glad to hear Leo is doing ok; it can be scary when your kid gets hurt.
Thanks Tom, these shows just keep getting better........ Hope Leo's ok take care !
The stories, the music, the lessons, the insight ... all of it. 😊👍
Hey Tom
Thank you so much for these videos during this Iso period. Insightful and inspiring.
Cheers dude! Absolute legend. If you’re ever in Australia hit us up. Owe you some beers.
Good to hear your son's ok. Most important people ever
Tommy, thank you.
Hey Tom, you are definitely making an impact on our playing man! Thank you so much! So many chord shapes, it has been much needed. We will all be bad ass rhythm players, year end! If you ever run into my cousin Robbie vaughn, tell him lee said hey!
These lessons are like hanging out with the cool uncle. Please don’t stop this series when quarantine ends!
Awesome to hear STP! Robert’s bass lines are brilliant and Dean uses some amazing chords. Glad to hear your son’s doing okay.
Thanks again Tom, like always, very inspiring. Take care of your son.
Great honesty. This is so helpful and humble
Great video as usual Tom! Sour Girl is such a great tune from No. 4, thanks for reminding me how awesome the De-leo brothers are too! Hope you and your family are safe and well, have a good weekend.
Ive wallked out even on a Passover service I had sooooo much grief with the "sound people" hahaaaa Thats an understatement !
These videos are just so great. Thanks, Tom!
Hey Tom. Just wanted to send say thanks. Peace and love to you and whoever is reading. Keep on rockin
Hi Tom, I saw some footage from 2017 Joe Walsh tour at Red Rocks. Must have been amazing to play there. Love the show. Thanks!
I like! 👍
Little Tommy...uhh...you are a great spirit in this world...your videos are more than one thing. You are a natural teacher, musician.
Hey Tom. Coffee mug and tshirt arrived. Kudos to the guys at Guitar House of Tulsa!,,
Glad to hear Loe is okay ! hope he is recovered completely soon
I feel like you and Sarah should re release her tune OUTSIDE MY WINDOW this tune is something people on lockdown need to hear. GO FOR IT!
Another great one!!! Man I’m hooked and appreciate your time!!! Thank you Tom!
A lot of what Tom knows is from experience and can only be gained by putting time into it. There is no silver bullet to cause your sound or playing to get better overnight. Use your ears and don't give up trying to get what you want.
Amen to that. Tbh I think the hardest isn't learning chords, scales and songs, but learning who you are on the instrument, your style and your sound.
Hey Tom Love this ! Cuts to the heart and bones of what the matters mattered.
Thanks man
