Love your smiley delivery Arnulfur. It is a great lens you are right. I dropped mine a few weeks ago. Apparently you must drop this lens at least once, otherwise Sigma ask for it back. So we can keep ours. Keep on making your really engaging videos.

Do you think the autofocus is too loud to the point it’s better to pay more for the 10-18mm? And does de IBIS on the a6600 makes up for the lack os stabilization for making videos in it?
I have the same setup, but I dont notice any AF noises. Might be from dropping your lens? as. the sigmas are known to be fragile once it is dropped and recommended to be inspected afterwards, I am in Japan where they are made and everyone here says its a "must do" once you drop it.

Which lense should I get for both video and photography? Sigma 16mm 1.4 or sigma 24mm 1.4 for sony aps-c. Later on I'm probably going to upgrade to a FF camera tho.

To be very honest, I was watching a ton of TH-cam videos on my next camera and lens system and this video just made it so much easier. Sony A6400 body with the Sigma 16mm Lens. Do you think it’s good idea to skip the kit lens? I will also be photographing mostly wide scenery and shooting documentaries/brolls. And yes I am a noob at this though. Love your channel. Greets
the kti lens is alright. I mean if you just get a 16mm you're stuck with one focal lenght. It's nice to have some different focal lengths to work with :)

Hey thanks! So I might have to make a video about it, but to make it short I love the size of the siny apsc, I've gotten a good grip on how to use them and produce good footage, I know really well how I want to color grade with it to get good colors, and it's a consumer friendly camera so there are going to be a lot of people looking for it which makes it nice for me to make videos about :)
And because I've used it so much I feel comforable to talk and teach about it :) -
And tbh all the freelance job I do I use the apsc and clients are always happy!
@@thaticelandicguy I've got the a6400 aswell and I couldn't agree more about the camera. It's simply great and it's great to see that it can be used professionally!! But I'm not sure that your videos are good for my bank account😂. I already bought the 18-105, Sigma 16 and 56mm and i can say that it's partially because of you😂. Anyways you show that you don't need the most expensive equipment, it's all about the photographer and the skill that comes from practicing👌.

Hmm so for me they serve diffrenet purposes. I love that the sony is 10-18 so I can change apertures. I also love that it's 10mm and has OSS.
I often take both out and use them often. The SEL10-18 is my go to vlog lens, but the sigma has fast aperture and is super sharp haha :) idk tbh which one I use more.
Prolly the SIGMA since it's my talking to camera lens :)

For me 16mm and 56mm are my go to lenses. However for IG the 4x5 crop is too tight even for the 16mm so you need to think more about the crop too. Still plenty of bokeh and sharpness to be happy though!
P.S. It's not stabilized yeah but with f 1.4 it would cost double and about the rattle noise i think you can get away with it if you mount the mic at the left with an L bracket or sth..
yea true the rattle is alright, I film all my talking head shots in manual focus and I don't really vlog with this lens so it's alright :)
Is the "C" marked in the sigma 16mm lens a Custom button ? Before purchase, I thought "C" as a custom button. But it does not press. So I thought my lens is defective and thinking of returning the lens... Is it a Custom Button or Just a "C" logo ? Some one could you please answer this question Thanks.
nice video! I was wondering which lens I should get, the sony 18-105 or this sigma 16mm? I'm not sure which to get. I need a wide lens for landscapes, but also the telephoto side of the 18-105 would be nice to have. What do you reckon? thanks :)
The 18-105 f4 is my first and only lens. I use it for both photography and videography. It’s very versatile, sharp enough and great for video. It also has OSS and a zoom lever. The build quality is fantastic and the rings are buttery smooth. Obviously, it isn’t as sharp as the sigma 16 f1.4 and not as great in low light. I’m looking to get the sigma as a second lens primarily for its low light capabilities. The sigma is the less expensive option. You wouldn’t go wrong with either.
Bill Lewis said it. It's super versatile - The 18-105 was my first lens, and tbh if you can only get one lens I would go for the 18-105 first. You'll have way more fun with it and can use it in more situations, and you're not stuck with just 16mm.
But as a 2nd lens the Sigma 16mm is a fantastic choice! :)
I don't know if I should pick the 16mm 1.4 or the 56mm 1.4 Sigma lens. Both are great, sharp, AF, and unfortunately without stabilization. I shoot general stuff, from street (including people), city, nature, and so on. 16mm gives you "room" being so wide, but 56 gives a great perspective with awesome bokeh. Any recommendations?

I've got both. Tbh I find it kind of disappointing. It's a great lens...BUT after owning the sigma 16.... It just doesn't live up to that lens. Now the 16 is phenomenal. The 30 definitely has issues focusing in low light on my a6100 while my 16 doesn't. Its probably a great lens for a ton of people but right now I just prefer my 16 for pretty much everything.... Including portraits
@@mcwaffles121593 I had similar issues with 30 on my m50 during photoshoot. I used 30mm and 17-50 sigma 2.8 zoom during a portrait photoshoot 2 days ago. Zoom photos came out cleaner less motion blur maybe user error who knows...awkward although it is great I am doing 16/56 and zoom combo can't wait to get 56! BOKEHHH

I would go for the 18-105 as the first lens. Way more usues for it and I think you'll have more fun with it, then being stuck with just a 16mm view :)

Hi bro. Can I use this with Sony a6600?
I was having such a hard time deciding between the 16mm and 30mm 1.4 or the one sigma 18-35, and I just got the 18-35, and I HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if the weight is not too much of an issue, try it out, bc it is RAZOR SHARP!!! Sharpest Aps-c lens I’ve EVER put on my camera. I shoot on a canon m50, and there’s absolutely no focusing noise, I don’t know if that’s the same deal with Sony alpha series, but that full frame a7iii look that’s everyone wants can be achieved with this lens. Also the versatility of having like 5 different prime lenses at f/1.8 is VERY useful. Don’t get me wrong tho this 16mm prime is absolutely amazing, very sharp, but 18-35 is a tad sharper. I would say is your trying to do gimbal work DONT get the 18-35 unless you have the money for an Amazing gimbal, bc it makes the camera VERYYY front heavy.

I had the same dilemma was driving me kind of crazy. I finally settled on 16, 17-50 f2.8 zoom and returned 30 to get 56 for that bokeh since my 50 was covered in the zoom :-)

@Daniel & Icelandic Guy - OH I should add that if I could only choose ONE prime it would be the Sigma 30mm for its versatility. If I could choose TWO primes it would be the Sigmas 16mm and the 56mm because those two would give me a better variety. So it changes depending on how many lenses you have!

Do you also get a lot of autofocus noise when filming with the 16mm? I have it on my a6500 and the rode videomicro picks it all up and makes this useless. Very bummed cause I just got the lens.
Yea I talked about that in this video, it has noisy auto focus. I don't feel it that much because I love MF a lot, but it's there and it's a con with this lens.

@@thaticelandicguy I use it 99% of the time for everything, but I really love it for wedding videos! With the digital zoom of Sony cameras, it's like a 24mm to 50mm and it's perfect as all around lens for videos.

I just bought this lens. J shot a video but my head looks larger and body smaller. Why is that? Is that the distance or the the lens mm?
it's the focal length :) my head is not this big either lol, you will have to get a tigher focal lenght to fix that.

I actually never tried the 30mm, so I'm not sure. But I love the quality of the sigma 16mm, and at that price point it's hard to beat. I think the Sony 10-18 is like 2-3x more expensive.
