Regarding the 16mm, what happens if you are a bit further away from the camera while recording to capture more of your body? Does it lose the bokeh and become more ‘distorted’?

Amazing lens, and amazing video brother. i’m actually planning to buy this lens for the same reason, also to make some low light couse its provides so much with 1.4/ but the cons is it dont have the stability, thats why its good to have a gimbel and walk like a ninja with it then its a complete gun🔥👌

How this lens is working for you over the years? I am considering to buy it for vlogging and indoor photography/videography (content related to my channel). I feel like the sigma 16/1.4 would also be a solid choice, it could work for me, but 10-18 f/4 Is more versatile and maybe I should ignore the great background separation of the sigma and focus more on the possibilities of the dynamic focal length.

I picked up this lens a couple weeks ago and I absolutely LOVE it! Makes a huge difference in the background blurriness of my videos.

Thank u once again for another great video, I always wonder: can u use the CLEAR IMAGE ZOOM with this lens and there for take advantage of maybe multiple focal lengths with it? I say this because I'm looking forward to upgrade from my kit lens (I have an a6300) to either the 16mm 1.4 or the 30mm 1.4 both by sigma. I was wondering if I buy the 16mm would I be able to "cheat" with the clear image zoom and maybe have a 30mm inside of this 16mm ? I hope u understand what I mean here lol anyways thank u for the attention my friend and keep up with the great work!
I actually haven't tried it. It wont be true 30mm tho lol but I love the idea. I'll try it and let you know (if I remember haha) Thanks for watching and dropping a comment!
You can use the clear image zoom 2x using this lens.
I’d rather take 30mm f/1.4, cause when you are using it with an APS-C camera you get 45mm full-frame equivalent, which is really close to an iconic 50mm with right proportions. And also it gives you much more compressed look with great creamy bokeh

I agree, I keep switching back into this lense and miss be image quality when I don't use it. On the 6400 the colors are so good with sigma.

Indoors in my studio I use SKEPPARGATAN, usually at around 50-60% and then do some basic corrections too 😁

i agree , it is a great lens - even for some portraits with the stretched look it is fantasic. i usually use it for stretched look portrait and some astro.

That's a killer lens! I own it and I love it. Makes me forget about any APS-C limitations. Next to it in my arsenal is the Zeiss Touit 12mm 2.8. Not so well known but outstanding as well!

Hello, I have Sony a6400 along with 56mm 1.4 Sigma. I use mainly to take self portraits, but the problem was when shooting with 56 mm, you can't get much Background in the photo. Pretty much only you. Then if you go away from the camera to get more background, then you lose the focus. So I bought 16mm 2 days ago. Only tried at home, but unfortunately, tthe bokeh is basically nothing comparable to 56 mm. Maybe I should have bought 30 mm. I will use it durirng my trip to Turkey(hoping to get some portraits with lots of background in the photo.)
yea the compression of a 56mm is much greater than a 16mm, so you'll get so much more bokeh with a 56mm :)

Your video is so crisp! Do you film in 4K or 1080p? I’ve seen other TH-cam videos of Sony alpha camera being shot in HD but their image isn’t as sharp as yours. Any ideas why?

Awesome video man. Do you recommend a 16mm over the 30mm sigma lens as this would be my first lens i purchase over the 18-135 kit lens i have for the 6300.
I currently do a lot of portraits but am afraid of the distortion.
FYI I have both the 16 and 30 and I like the focal length of the 30 better for portraits. These are the only 2 lenses I own. I only bust out the 16 when shooting landscapes or going hiking or wanting to capture groups. Since 90% of the time I’m taking portraits of my kids or wife the 30 is the perfect all around focal length for portrait while still being able to use it indoors (56mm sigma would be a little tight). Hope this helps you! I got the 16 first myself but would have got the 30 first knowing what I know now.

I was on the fence about getting the 10-18 vs the 16 mm but after watching your old vid about the 16, thats the one i went with and i love it so far. Especially for asto stuff, it might not be your background but do you think you can do a video on astrophotography
I have wanted to try astro photography for such a a long time. I've heard the 16mm is great for it, so yea def when it will get dark. (still very much daylight here lol)

Do you ever consider selling both your A6300 and A6400 to buy the Sony A6600? I feel like you would benefit a lot upgrading to a camera that offers a lot of great features. I’m considering doing the same upgrade from my own A6300 to the A6600
Tbh not really. I was thinking about buying the a6600 instead of the a6400. I was in need of a 2nd camera because I like having two cameras. However I wasn't impressed by how little difference there was betwene the a6400 and a6600 considering the price. So I went for the a6400 and bought myself a monitor with the difference. But don't get me wrong the a6600 is better.

Keep at it, you'll be able to push through. I haven't tried the sigma 30mm but I own the sony 35mm and I like it alot. Super small lens, has OSS and can go to F1.8 :)
