Dear Mr. Icelandic Guy - even though I already subscribe to way too many photography channels - your winning personality won me over. You got me at “versatile.” Keep up the good work. Cheers! 🍻
Took a two week break and in reading over the comments, just saw this man and I really appreciate it! 🙏🏻😊 Welcome to the channel!
Completely agreed! Subbed at “versatile” haha
I have the 18-105, and the Sony 16-55 f2.8. The 18-105 just doesn't produce consistently accurate / sharp photos. Some are often times out of focus. the 16-55 f2.8 has been my go to lens. Just absolutely incredible that lens.
agreed
$400 vs $1000 lens what did you expect lol
I know this comment is 2 years old BUT I had the 18-105 and I sold it after having it for maybe 2 months? The pincushion distortion on it was crazy, and it was never sharp. I could never get images or video I was happy with. It was nice that it was internal zoom because I had it on my gimbal, and the powerzoom allowed me to use my gimbal to control zoom but the optical quality of the lens is such a disappointment
There are bunch of other great lenses out there, these are some of my favorites that I've used over the last years. What are some of your fav?
I'm trying a one camera (A6600), one lens (16-55 f2.8 G) solution. Tempted by the 35mm f1.8 and 70-350mm though...
Didn’t try but I hear the tamron 11-20 mm f2.8 is pretty good
Have you tried any of the Tamron lenses? I'm currently debating between the Tamron 11-20mm vs the Sony 10-18mm on an a6400. Did you have a video comparing those two? Again, appreciate the content sir! Love the energy and the helpful guides!
@@TheCultureofCookery insaw many videos and the only good thing about the sony vs the tamron is that it is stabilized. Other than that the tamron is sharper and opens to 2.8
What do you think about the sony 85mm 1.8 ? Thanks for the video
I just appreciate the hardwork that you do to make videos about cameras that helps us to know much more about photography and videography ❤️specially APSC users like me myself.
I initially hated the 18-105. It is good for videos and perhaps photos during the daytime. The sharpness is questionable. But at around 80-100 it does provide good portraits.
But for low light and sharpness I wouldn't recommend it. But the focal length is soo versatile.
That 16 mm sigma is a beast of a lens. Either you use it for video or photography, it never disappoints me 🥰
I'm rocking an A6600 and my 3 main lenses is the 16-55, 70-350 and the new AF Samyang 12mm.
I cannot rate them highly enough, high cost but the range these cover is huge!
Nice! I bought a 6400 and Tamaron 17-70 then recently added the Sony 70-350 and Samyang 12mm. 100% agree that these 3 lenses cover just about everything you could ever want or need.
Please do more of these videos. I truly love these types of content
You are basically the reason i upgraded my a6000 to a6400 with 18-105mm.. thanksssss... It's very versatile...
I love the "I'm learning your language" moment 😂Amazing content! I love that the information comes across casual and relaxed but still valuable. It's like getting photography advice from a good friend.
I bought a slider based on what you said and it has not disappointed. Keep that cheery energy my friend!
I have the 18-105 f/4 on my Sony a6500. I am still learning to use the camera and your videos are so helpful..so thank you for making them!
Happy you like them!
I enjoy my Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 lens. Sure it is not quite as wide as the 16-50mm f/2.8 Sony lens but, the Sigma is a fraction of the Sony's weight and size.
Out of all the youtubers you get straight to the point and answer all the questions I have in my head. thank you man!
i love your vibe and explanations. fantastic choices! ha, i too use my sigma 16mm to get macro-like pics. and the sony 18-105mm is truly a versatile beast.
I respect and love the simplicity of how you explain what you know. Thank you!
My travel kit was a6600, 18-105, 16 and 56. Next I am switching to a7iv, zeiss 25/85, 35gm and Tamron 70-180.
yea might pick up a a7iv as well :L
I've just recently bought the Sony A6400, partially off the back of seeing the quality stuff you make, and this was really helpful! I kind of wish the 18-105mm was available to buy with the A6400, as I've bought the A6400 with the 18-135mm lens.
Is there any drawbacks for 18-135...?since u mentioned u wanted 18-105lens
I just got the Tamron 17-70 f/2.8. I love it!!!
Heard so many good things!
Man, you are great blogger! Charisma and humour 10/10
Dude, your shots are all gorgeous! 😍
I recently bought the Sony 18-105 .. I like it so much I bought a body for the lens. Never comes off ... great lens.
It really is :)
just subbed your channel and was poking around to see what you shoot with, happy to see Sony also. Love it!
I really like your charisma. The info was quite helpful, but I stayed the whole time for your presentation.
Thank you! That really means a lot to me ☺️
I just bought the a6400 + sony e35mm oss lens 😊 hope it will be nice
hugs from Brazil my friend
I have the Sony a6400 kit with the 18-50mm lens, and I'm looking for a lens with a longer focal range like the 18-105 mm or the 18-135 mm. Will these lenses be complementary, or am I just replacing my current lens with something similar?
Just discovered this - a year old. Your English is great and far better than my Icelandic (?) language. I’m sure you have figured out Aberration as (ab - er -ra-shon). I’m a fan of your channel now.
Hey sir, I just found your channel now and I’m loving it, thanks so much for your video. Please keep it up ✌🏻
Hi, I love your videos super high quality. I was wondering if you could do a comparison video of the sigma trio(16,30,56mm) vs the new sigma 18-50 f 2.8 DC DN. Just curious how the image quality stacks up. Thank you!
Originally last fall I was saving up to purchase the sony 16-55mm f2.8 which was around $1300, but in the spring Tamron launched their 17-70mm f2.8 and it has been the best and for $500 less. The only thing that does sucks is that she's a bit on the thicc side ^.^
Just got that lens from Amazon (prime day+ monthly payments+ accident protection for $900 canadian) - It's a heavy lens, but sharp. I tell clients that don't be surprised by how small the Sony A6300 camera is. It performs better than DSLR - why - active focus is just amazing on these cameras - just wish they made battery grips for these things - but with rigs it is much more versatile. Especially being a better Video Camera than a $1500+ dedicated cameras - they have less than 1" sensors and don't have the shallow depth of field that is so nice on new Alpha line.
I’m very new to photography and videography, and am getting a Sony ZV E-10. I can’t afford to buy a ton of lenses at once, but I’d like a lens that can be used for talking head videos indoors, as well as cooking videos (so slightly lower lighting), and taking photographs of gemstones/jewelry. I cut opals, and struggle to get good shots of them. It may be impossible to find a lens that can do both, but if you had to pick a starter, which would you choose for those options? And if I could afford two, which two would you select for those criteria? Thank you in advance for any advice you can give. I’ve watched your videos, but not sure I know enough to select without asking first. Thanks❤
Get a sigma 56mm 1.4.... best for indoor cooking or cutting .. because zv10 is a crop sensor... so u can mount ur camera far away from steam of oven but still very close up shots. Good for macro shots... u jst foucus more on budget bt good light setup, gimble, mic & a solid powerful android tablet for editing everything in apps for free (cracked apps😉)
Between
18-105mm f4
17-70mm f2.8
18-300mm f3.5-6.3
Which would u recommend?
17-70mm taneron is the best among these 3 though 18-300 is the most versatile
hahahahaha at the 10:56 spot, "I'm learning your language..." made me actually laugh out loud
😂
Congratulations on 100k!
I have the Sony a6500 and two of the lenses you mentioned: the Sony 18-105mm and the Sony 70-350mm. Not sure what to get next: maybe the Sony 10-18mm for interiors and more wide angle shooting, or a prime. Would like to do some astrophotography. Any recommendations for my next glass? Thanks for the review.
For Zv-e10 which one you prefer? 18-50 or 16mm F1.4?
(For indoor videography like commercial add)
Wow. Great review. Thanx. I am coming from the bridge cameras, all in one, world (with the Panasonic FZ1000i). I really want to advance to the next step in photo quality, and that is of course DSLRs or mirrorless with interchangeable lenses. So I consider the A6400. But the prices on all those lenses really deter me. Especially when I can simply upgrade my camera to the very capable, although old now, Sony RX10iv. Which way would you recommend me to go, as a travel/street photographer with artistic tendencies?
Just found you as a canon user i was looking for a camera and just purchased the Sony ZV 10L so looking for some lenses and came across your channel great presentation skills so have subscribed do you use a gimbal with your apc camera
Hi ,liked your video.
What would you recommend for real-estate shooting mybe sony 10-18?
I’m going to get my first lense (apart from the standard one)… but now I’m struggling to choose between Sigma56mm or Sony 18-105? So far I’ve only tried FE 1.8/85.. but it’s slightly pricey…I like portrait and street style photography primarily focusing on shooting people. What should I go for please? 🙈
Any recommendations for Sony a6400 food photography?
16mm lens is the best one for sure
I can’t wait til I get a 16mm! I enjoy the 18-105mm too, I do feel that it’s not as sharp at other times and this is including me adjusting my sharpness and such, plus it makes certain images a tad desaturated. Idk if it’s just me.
Always a fun watch. Keep it up!
Thank you 🙏🏼
I loved your list! I like the Sigma 30 mm F 1.4, but I guess the Sony 35 mm has the OSS as an advantage. What do you think about using FF lenses in the APSC body? I really want a fast zoom lens (70-200) but they only have it for FF.
The cool thing is that apsc and ff both have e mount! But I haven't tried FF lenses on my apsc yet, will have to do that for sure
Thank you for this overview. I sold my 18-105 for the Tamron 17-70/f2.8. The Sony 35mm 1.8 is a nice one aswell. But to be honest I don't really use it very often. Only for shot with my teleprompter from time to time ...
Heard great things about the 17-70! Yea the 35mn is good but I also could use it more 😁
@@romain3900 How’s does the Tamron performs ?
@@romain3900 please I have a question for you, how do I turn off the VC on Tamron 17-70mm ( using with Sony A6400 )
Which is better Sigma 16mm 1.4 or Sigma 30mm 1.4?
those are different lens, both are great, personally I'm not a fan of 30 so will sell it - 16 is great
With the sigma 18-50mm 2.8 and the sony 70-350mm should i add the sony 10-18 f4 or go for a portrait lens like sigma 56mm 1.4 or the sony 85mm FE .... thank you
I added the Tamron 11-20 f2.8 and then the Sony 20mm 1.8 FE to the Sigma 18-50 and Sony 70-350. I also have a Sony 85mm FE but am tempted to swap it for the Sigma 56mm. It's been so hard not to buy more lenses in the black Friday deals but I held off, some how!
Excellent video and right timing as I am looking at my next lens for my a6600! I will go with the sony 16-55.
You are very very very funny and seriously informative, love your TH-cam videos and you take some awesome photos.
Thank you Carlo! Means a lot 🙏🏻😂
Thinking to get the Tamron 17-70 2.8 ,your opinion pal? You encouraged me to get the a6600 which I use now due to you recommend . Loving it thanks
I love my Tamron 17-70, especially for travel. I'm also using that on my a6600!
Iove the Tamron 17-70....I have the Sony 18-105 (Which i had to send for a repair on the lens assembly..not cheap)...The Tamron is great...I'm on back order getting the Tamron 18-300
I haven't used it but heard so many good things! As the gentlemen above me are pointing out, ppl really like it!
Hi, would you recommend to use Sigma 16mm for filming vertical videos (for Reels, TikTok)?
In some time i will buy my full kit:
a6400
Sigma 16mm
Sony 18-105mm
Sony 70-350mm.
Love your channel 🤘
Epic setup! 👊🏻👊🏻
thanks man! nice review
10:53 best part
Dude, I am amazed by your English progress xD You always make me laugh, I love watching your videos, they always have great information, and perspective, & sometimes your extra finny like in this video😂 Just mainly wanted to say thank you & love the channel of course😎
Love your videos, thanks for sharing your knowledge and keep up the great work!! I'm trying a one camera, one lens solution (A6600, 16-55 f2.8 G)
Highly informative and highly entertaining video. Learned a lot. Many thanks. Subscribed
Awesome video man
Thank you 🙏🏼
great video, wondering if you have checked out the Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN Contemporary for Sony E ye....I have a feeling that you would add it to your list here if you were to redo this video?
Haven't tried it but I've heard that it's fantastic, so yea maybe!
The new sigma 18-50 is 500€ and is almost as sharp as the sony 16-55 which is 1200€ and the sigma is super small
10-18 F4 OSS vs new lens 11mm F1.8 which one would you prefer?
Man such great detailed video so good thank you so much for the knowledge ❤️
Subbed 100% looking forward to more videos❤️
See's Icelandic Guy Posts Video. Clicks. (Doesnt need any new lenses, just here for the fun :P)
Boom!!!! ❤👊🏻
I’ve watched this video several times now since I’m trying to dial in my ZV-E10 lens arsenal (I’m making it my goal to shoot only in APS-C this year as I’m kicking off my TH-cam channel). I love everything about this video. But this time I caught a line that made me literally lol on the airplane I’m on haha.
When talking about rolling the “R’s” you said - “See - I’m learning your language mother fuckers!” Lolol Love it and your personality dude. Keep crushing it!
Hahahah let's go 😂 thank you for your kind words, feel free to shoot me a DM on IG if you have any questions brother
@@thaticelandicguy will do man! Getting ready to sell a few of my old full frame things (A7ii and a Samyang 35mm) to pickup my new APS-C lenses. For some reason I wasn’t following you on IG but I fixed that.
Thanks again man!
Thanks for the video. I also have most of the lenses that you described. Recently I bought the G master 16-55mm f/2.8, now I barely change lenses. If you were shooting a Vlog/show the city video, would you still use the 10-18mm?
Have you tried the 18-50 sigma? I like that size, but I think the sony probably has much sharper images
@@SunDash09 Unfortunately no, so I don't have an opinion.
You have a new Sigma AF 18-50mm 2.8 DC DN its really good, maybe try it :D
Trying to get my hands on a 18-105 finally
What's the song in the first couple of second of the video called? Would love to know!!
"I'm learning your language, mofos"
I wasn't subscribed but at that point, I just had to hit that like and subscribe.
Great presentation!
hahahahhahaha, happy to have you here!
Do you think you'll upgrade to the 6600 for ibis and bigger battery?
Hey brother, I have a question: when you upgraded to the A7iv. Did you sell any of your APSC lenses or you kept all of them, and do you use them on your FF?
I kept all of them, I'll probably never sell them lol. Both I like my apsc, many of them work good on FF (I actually use the 10-18 a lot on FF) and they are legendary to me
@@angeldeleon6113 the a7iv is incredible and extremely fun to try something new. I has only used crop sensor and for 6years haha so it was fun to try FF
what camera/lens combo did you use to film this video? :)
sony a6400 and sigma 16mm :)
As a 6400 user and GAS-victim, I'm considering buying the ne 7 iv. But with all my APSC lenses (especially the trustworthy Sigma Trio), it's holding me back to go FF. I hoped, that the new Sony Model would have offered something near to 20 MP in crop Mode ... But with 15 MP It's not the 'one to rule them all' cam. What's your opinion to the a7 iv - and your passion with APSC? Thank you
Also: as a big fan of the Sigma Trio, my new go-to lens is the Tamron 17-70 2.8. it's stabilized, has a versatile focal length and is relatively fast. I use it for photography and videography. Since I own this lens, the sigmas are sitting in the shelf :(
Heard great things about that Tamron!
About the new 7iv I'm super hyped, would love to get a FF too but I haven't had time to check it out. Will have to do more research for sure 😁
sigma 18-50 F2.8 DC DN..any feedback?
Great video thanks.
I like this guy the whole lot 🙂 thx for video
Thanks for watching my man!
vertasile hahahahha love you icelandic!
Sigma didn't get you an 18-50 f2.8? I was waiting for your thoughts!
I've heard so many good things about that lens! Will have to get my hands on it 😁
regret getting a prime lens, I do video mostly and wish I brought that SONY 18-105!! 😫
It's very versatile!
Do sigma 18-50mm f2.8!
What I want to know, is where did you get that necklace bruh!
Sigma trio f1.4 + samyang 12mm f2+ 23 f.14 viltrox and a6600) I think next lens to buy will be something like 18-55 f1.8 if sigma or tamron will be able to make that.
Sick setup!
now i'm curious
if you had tried it, what you think about new 18 - 50mm F2.8 lens from Sigma
yesterday i saw the news and it's quite bargain for price ahahhaha
Nope! But lots hype around it, will have to give it a try 😁
@@thaticelandicguy i'm waiting for your review then hahaha
What do you think of samyang 12 mm f2 AF vs sony 10-18mm f4?
The sony is almost double the price and only have f4, and probably we’re not going to use the zoom feature and keeping it on 10mm.
Samyang for photo, Sony for videos and photos, the Sony have OSS
First time I've seen one of your videos Icelandic Guy. I enjoyed your reviews! It made me laugh at times too. Question: are you flirting with me in the video Icelandic Guy? Because it might be working! 😂 Good work!
Lol 😂
Have your 18-105mm lens, create a rattle noise if you tilt the lens down and up and down again? but when attached to a camera, the lens doesn't create that noise?
It's the OSS..just like OIS in smartphone when u shake u can hear the noise it's for image stabilization.
Looking to get into photography, and I have my eyes on a Sony a6300. Would the Sony 18-105 f/4 be my best option to start out with? Or are there others to consider? I’m looking to mostly work with photography and some light video work
The sigma trio is extremely good for photography and has you covered for many focal lengths.
But for video I would probably get something with OSS.
Maybe the 18-105 would make you happy there. But I also think you'd enjoy the sigma trio with that f1.4 😉
I have a doubt. When we consider a lens built for APS-C sensors, for example Sony 35 mm f/1.8, is it constructed with the crop factor in mind or is it pure 35 mm focal length?
In other words, if I want a 50 mm look, should I go for Sony 50 mm f/1.8 or 35 mm f/1.8?
The focal length is calculated in.
I got a 50mm on ASPC and got completely different images than a full frame 50mm.
So if you want the 50mm look on AspC you'll need a 35mm
@@Toupstv Thank you! Yes I noticed this, I got Sigma 30 mm lens after this query
Just when I was wondering what lens to buy...😁
wow, I hope I can get there too, that's how good you are at making your vlogs, I hope one day I'm just as good as you, I always watch moiDoL vlogs, I hope you notice. Philippines
I didnt know Id finish 17 minutes watching u...great review ..I think Im going to have that 18mm-105 and sigma 16mm
Happy you enjoyed it :)
*Another great video!* Very useful information. Like button smacked (1) and watched in full. Not sure if you recall: Last video you put out, we had a conversation about doing an ad to gain subscribers. Outcome: I gained a handful of subs but it also messed up my stats (average view duration, some engagement stats). Cost: about 180 Krona. Bottom line: Better stick with putting out quality videos and let the subs come naturally. The ad (video discovery) was no magic pill to get subscribers. Experiment done, can't say we didn't explore that as well ☑️. Have a great day and till next time, 👍😉Marcus
Ah awesome! Good to know! Thabk you Marcus for doing the field work 😁
What lense are u using in this video?
Versatile 😅
Great video!
Hahaha yess 😂
"Louuuuww leit biesssst"
Great video. Quick question, how do you deal with 18-105 when turning it off because I believe when turned off the zoom probably retracts back to 18mm? Eg. If I needed to change the battery and was previously shooting at say 40mm, guessing you have to zoom out again internally. Also have you seen the new sigma 18-55 f2.8? Looks nice.. thanks
Yes, it goes back to 18mm
