      That's how all this started for me. I hadn't ridden a bike in 40 years but saw an ad for the Aventure 1. I fell in love and had to purchase it. A year later, I had 1300 miles on the bike and made a bunch of videos about it. Now, its the Aventure 2's turn. This is still my favorite fat tire ebike.

    About 3 months ago I drove my buddy's Aventure 2 at the cabin - drove about 27 miles on gravel roads. I was blown away how fun it was. I've been doing spin classes and driving conventional bicycles for the past 10 years and with the torque sensor was easily able to maintain 20+ mph in eco mode. I think I hit 34 mph going downhill and with the weight of the bike i did not feel unstable. Just purchased one today on the Aventon website for $1550. Can't wait for it's delivery. Thanks for the video.

      I did a couple of upgrades to it. Different grips, suspension seat post, different seat, different pedals. All of those things are subjective to the rider. I almost have 500 miles on it but I have been reviewing so many other bikes I can't ride this one as much as I want. I still consider it the king.

    Thank you Scott for another helpful and informative video about the Aventure.
    When better riding weather gets closer, I'll definitely be ordering a V2 to replace my first generation Aventure, which, like you, I almost want to hug because it's been such a pleasurable addition to my life. I like everything about it but sometimes feel like I'm not getting quite enough exercise from it even though I routinely take several 20+ mile rides per week. I put that down to the cadence sensor even though I always pedal and adjust the gearing for a good cycling cadence, and I'm rarely riding above PAS 3 mode. I look forward to the more natural cycling experience that I think the torque sensor will provide.
    There are two things about my bike that I sometimes wish I'd done differently: gotten the next smaller frame size, and opted for step-through rather than step-over. I'm 5'10" and have the medium step-over now. I added a suspension seat post and so the seat is adjusted as far down as it can be but one more inch lower would sometimes be welcome. I also removed a rear rack bag I had and replaced it with panniers partly because the additional height of the rack bag made it that much harder to swing my old leg over to mount and dismount the bike.
    So I'll definitely get the regular frame size rather than the large next time around. But I'm torn between getting another step-over frame or instead going for the step-through. I'm at about the recommended weight limit of the bike and have thought, possibly mistakenly, that the SO frame was stronger and more rigid than the ST. I prefer the look of the SO to the ST frame. And I'm not even sure I'd change my mounting method with a ST frame anyway. Plus, I'd miss my spiffy little top tube bag. But my sore old bones and muscles are asking me to consider the ST frame.
    I'm wondering if you gave any similar consideration to getting a step-through frame and why you opted for another step-over.

    • @scotthardesty
      @scotthardesty  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, my first Aventrue is also too big for me. This new one fits perfect since I got the regular. I'm a step over guy for sure. I do have one step thru and I get the appeal, but even with the ST I still swing my leg over. hahaha. I think the reason I stick with step overs is because when I was young I used to race BMX bikes. These bikes give me that same feeling. I don't get that with a step thru. Although, I have not reviewed a fat tire ST yet. So that might change someday. So I am basically like. you when it comes to the SO vs the ST.

    Why are there diff. persons height is diff from regular frame and large frame? I am ordering the step through and like the cruiser height and postition of a cruiser, they said recommend large frame, did not have one to test. What do you think , will be getting the seat shock also.

    • @scotthardesty
      @scotthardesty  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would go with whatever size it shows. With my first Avenutre, I should have gotten a regular but I got a large. After getting the correct size with the Aventure 2, I can definitely tell that my Aventure 1 is too big for me. So I would go for the recommended size.

  • @chadwilliams4148

    Great review, Scott! Your videos were a huge help in moving me to purchase the Aventure 1 just after the new year. I enjoyed every minute on the bike, but totally lucked out as the Aventure 2 was announced just a couple weeks before my bike shop's 30 day return policy was out. Thankfully, I never wiped out on the snow here in Minneapolis and the bike was still in new condition. Erik's Bike Shop (great shop up here that sells Aventon) was glad to get me on the new one and I just paid the difference. Man, you can't overstate the difference riding these two. Both are amazing, but you put it well when you say you feel one with the bike. I love being more in control of the bike, and since I do a lot of snow riding and trail riding, I love not having to constantly gauge what pedal assist level is safest. It rides like a dream, and I still don't believe how Aventon does all this for the price point. Keep creating! Looking forward to seeing more of your Aventure 2 adventures!

    Thanks for the video, Scott.
    My first and current ebike I bought back when they first came out from Lectric, and got the original XP folding ebike. My local bike shop help me out with changing several things that as I rode thought things like, the brakes could be better, the freewheel in top gear was Ghost pedaling so replaced it. Blah blah, my story goes on with things like COVID and not riding for a while.
    I'll be 70 later this year and having put a bunch of miles on my first ebike and the BUG biting me to get off my azz and ride again decided it was time to look at something different.
    So, today I ordered the Aventon Adventure 2 step through. Why the step through, well at nearly 50 and one 'fake' knee already I thought it is the better choice for me, especially noticing how it's reinforced down at the joint. So happens that the bike shop I had been dealing with for all the upgrades to the Lectric XP, sell Aventon so order it through them and in a week or so I'll get the call to "come on down" and do the final adjustments for seat height etc., and be one happy pedaling fellow.
    By the way, I figure most people are going to go for that nice BLUE, so I ordered BLACK...lol Another thing, I'm your neighbor to the North in Wisconsin.
    Thanks again for the video, as it was good enough for me to SMASH that SUB button.

      How are you liking your Aventure 2 step thru?

    • @NOWitsOKto
      @NOWitsOKto ปีที่แล้ว

      @@scotthardesty Keep in mind, as I'm sure you know, everyone's experience is different.
      First off, I'm a big dude at around 325 pounds, so I found the original seat a bit painful as I often ride 15+ miles at a time (the farthest single ride on this was a tad over 25). So I went to a Cloud 9 seat.
      Second, I was having a lot of wrist pain as I couldn't seem to get the handlebars “just right” so my bike shop replaced them.
      I've that the Adventure.2 about a month now and today's ride I'm just short of 260 miles.
      The old thing now having ridden both a cadence and a torque sensor, I'd say I would take a torque sensor any day over a cadence sensor.
      Lastly, I started riding again after receiving the Adventure.2 for the first time since Covid-19 hi, roughly 2.5 years, so there were plenty of things that needed Geritol. Think I most of those somewhat back to normal.
      I'm glad I chose the Aventon Adventure.2 as I go where I want to go, be it streets, unpaved trails, or across a lawn.

    I just purchased this ebike. My first ebike, and I got the blue step-thru model because I didn't like the step-over colors.
    Want to point out that the price went up $100 on 5-8-23 (I beat the increase), and it came in as Class 2, I had to unlock the bike for Class 3. It goes up to 28 mph in pedal assist now, but throttle tops out at 20.2 mph. Without any motor assistance, the fat tires make it impossible for me at my age (nearing 70) to go pedal-only.... but my intention is not to go pedal-only.
    My first ride was a 4 mile round trip, with 2 significant hills at each end of the trip. I used 9% of the battery power, including use of Turbo mode to climb the steep uphill stretches, and used Sport mode the rest of the trip. Stated range is advertised as 60 miles, looks like I will get 40-45 miles per charge. My preference would be the cadence sensor model, but purchased the Aventure 2 with torque sensor primarily because of the other extra equipment included standard on the newer model.

    Scott, great review and video. I've been doing my research for the last six-months or so, planning to purchase my first ebike. I'm 5'10" and 265 lbs, and my primary motivation is to improve my fitness level. I bought a regular bicycle several years ago, and it became immediately apparent to me just how much work is involved in keeping this much weight rolling down the road. I was either having to exert too much effort in higher gears or pedaling like I was in a spin class in the easier, lower gears. After 10-minutes I was exhausted. Sure was a LOT different that the experience I remember from my younger days. :P
    I had been thinking I wanted a mid-drive ebike. I'm not interested in the "electric scooter" ride you see so many TH-camrs focusing on. I want something that seamlessly enhances my own pedaling. I test rode a couple hub motor bikes, and it felt a little awkward. The motor would kick in and push the bike up to whatever PA level speed that was set, regardless of how I pedaled. It sounds like the torque sensor solves a lot of that.
    You appear to be pretty fit. Do you think the Aventure 2 would be a good option for me? Mostly paved areas with long, rolling, low-elevation hills and some dirt and gravel areas. Thanks for your reviews!

    • @scotthardesty
      @scotthardesty  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From what you have described. I do think the torque sensor might be the best of both worlds. Not a mid drive (those bikes are expensive) but also not the scooter feel that I have with my A1, thats for sure. Hopefully, you can find a local dealer who has one for you to try out... but I feel pretty confident that the Torque Sensor is going to feel way more natural for you.
      Good luck on your search and thanks for watching!

With the cadence sensor it eats up the battery. I did my TH-cam review hoping I would get a chance to review the Aventure 2. I got one last Monday and put on over 100 miles. Have been carefully looking over the various fat tire bikes and am happy I didn't consider getting one before now, as the Aventure 2 seems fantastic! Have you taken it out in conditions where there's been some amount of ice on the paths your taking? I'm in northern Ontario and our roads in town aren't nearly as heavily salted. Also, I'm curious about some of the angles you got in this video, I don't see any kind of mount so how were you getting those shots like at 11:07 and 14:21? Drone?
