@@scotthardesty I'm craving for those seat posts. Hitting a bump at 30mph on your butt hurts more than I initially thought. And I definitely need to change my long cranks. I ordered the same locks blue! I changed my grips to Ergon ga3, made a lot of difference..
Most of the roads and trails I ride are relatively smooth, flat and straight. Pedal strike isn’t too much of a problem in typical riding but I notice the pedals touch down a little too easily when pedaling through corners with the stock crank arms. I’m was wondering what your impression was of riding the bike after going with shorter crank arms other than the obvious, less pedal strike. How much different does it feel compared to the stock set up? Does it take any more or less effort to pedal the bike? Is it easy to get use to? Feel weird in any situations?
It only took about 5 min of riding to get used to the shorter crank. I feel a lot more confident pedaling into corners as well. It feels totally natural now and I would recommend it to anyone who has this bike.
I have shorted my cranks and I found that I had to raise my seat a smidgen to get the usual leg extension I'm sued to when the pedal is in the down position,
Thank you, new Aventure.2 lots of pedal strikes and you solved it at 5:57. I will modify my bike in all of Scott's ways in remembrance of a great video.
Sorry Barry, I have no clue. I just reviewed a bike that has a right hand twist throttle. Overall I think I prefer the thumb throttle. I’m sure there is a video out there showing you how to do it.
I love most of those mods! Especially the handlebar extender, I am going to bookmark this video for the near future... I watched another one of your videos on the review for the Adventure model and it was great. I Love the bike and have been on the fence on which one to go with, I am buying one in about a month. Hearing you live in Chicago and ride it in the city was great to hear, I live in New York, North of the city in the burbs but a pretty large city all the same. Also a big guy, closer to 270 lbs but I know the bike has a 400 lbs payload capacity, so even leaves room for groceries! :) subbed👍
Thanks man, there's a couple good tips in there I'm gonna have to steal from ya like that skip plate. I was goin down calumet today and was wondering if someone made one. I've only got a couple hundred miles on mine so its good to see the pros and cons from someone with more mileage on theirs.
2nd question, I bought those same cranks for my AA2 and the bike shop said they cant install them because the current cranks are built into the torque sensor and would "damage" the torque sensor? very strange.
@@scotthardesty sorry false alarm I apparently bought the wrong cranks as it was a crank and a 1 piece crankset for the other side. sorry for the bad info Scott!
Thanks for all the info. I also did some changes. I replaced my handlebar for a 780mm. I felt crammed with the factory 680mm. I added the accessories bar also and replaced my seat. Want to do the cranks like you did. For grips I'm going with the ones I have on my MTB. Ergon 3, they are very comfortable. I enjoy your videos.

@@scotthardesty Just placed an order since it seems the Camp Green color way is in fact back in stock! I've watched some assembly vids, but are there any tips you have from what you've experienced assembling the bike?
Hi Scott - great reviews of the Aventon Aventure. I have the same bike and rear bag. When the panniers are opened up, where on the rear rack do you attach the short bungee cords at the bottom edge of the panniers?
Hey Scott, Many thanks for the videos. I've been trying (still) to decide which bike I'm going to purchase, the Aventure or a Trek Allant s7. I'm in Southern California. There is a major diff in price and that may be a deciding factor. Anyway, your videos are great and you have me believing the Aventure with the fat tires can be a commuter bike on the street which is what I need. Keep up the great work and continue to show us your adventures!
Hi Rich! I have also seen many bikes with better features but ouch, those bikes are about double the cost! For me, this bike has actually got me riding again and I am surprised how much I really enjoy it. Someday I might upgrade to a more expensive bike but for now, this thing is perfect for me. I actually ride the streets of Chicago on mine way more than dirt trails. Whenever you pull the trigger on a bike let me know which one you decided on!
Hi Scott....great video. I adore my Aventure and have ordered a couple of your mods. Thanks. I'm thinking that the Chicago Bears could use your services.
I've recently purchased an aventure. Even knowing that bike geeks can get really into customizing their rides, I didn't think much at all about altering mine until viewing this video. I'll see how the stock experience meets my expectations before going too crazy, but you've definitely given me some food for thought!
Hi Scott. Just bought an Aventure 2 for both my wife and myself. We both need something like the adjustable stem but our shop tech told us the handlebar with the Aventure 2 will not accept any other stems. Something to do with the way Aventon flared out the diameter in the middle. He also mentioned the headlight being a problem. Do you think maybe Aventon did some re-engineering between version 1 and 2 that prevents this upgrade? It looks to me like this video was shot with the Aventure 1, so I had to ask. Great videos!
Hi Greg. Yes, this video was shot with my Aventure 1. I do own the Aventure 2 as well but since I got the regular size (instead of the large with the A1) I didn't feel the need to add the adjustable stem. I was unaware of this issue but now it is making me want to check it out myself.
I was torn between the Aventon and the Bee Cool Adventure. I am 6'2 and 235. I want to make sure I have the best bike for my frame. Thank you for helping me make that decision.
I can't see good how those 2 front rack rods connect into the frame. It seems like you could just tack weld a spot or 2 on the rods where the ends go through where you say you thought of putting a cotter pin.
I have switched almost everything to my A2 that is in this video. The only thing I didn't use is the adjustable stem as I got a smaller model (regular instead of large) and the bike fits me better and not need to adjust the bars. Is there something specific you are wondering about?
@@scotthardestyI'm looking for the adventure.2 regular as well. I'm curious about the seat post shim (27.2->30.4mm), and the seat post (27.2mm x 350mm)...fitting.
I just bought the same saddle for my emtb its really comfortable compared to my errgon and Wtb comfort but don't like the bare open back end sonput a small topeak tool bag under it to hit the back but at 17 bucks its definitely the comfiest I've tried yet! Could spend a fortune on saddles but ince loose bit weight and feel more comfortable with my weight i can change it over but just now it's a must just now to get out on the bike!
Good video. I have an idea for your rack. Instead of drill the rods for a cotter pin, find a drill stop of the ride diameter for the rod. Get two of them. Harbor Freight might be a good source. I'm thinking of the kind of drill stop that has an Allen head set screw. Slip the drill stop over the rod. Tighten down the set screw with as much torque as you dare. I think that this will keep the rods from slipping. Not sure it will work, but if I had that rack I would sure try it before I attempted to drill holes for cotter keys. 🚲🚲😎😎🎸🎸
Thanks Cliff! I had a comment that mentions using lock washers before the nuts on the side. I am going to try that first and if that doesn't work I will try your method. Thank you!
Thank you! I do like of the look of the Step Over compared to the Step Thru but I know it would be much easier to get on and off as a Step Thru. Let me know what you decide!
Scott, Thank you very much for your video; well done. I recently bought my Aventure and am looking forward to modifying my ride and enjoying future adventures.
Won't find a better grip than Acid Disrupt if you can find them! They come on the new cube ebikes odi do something similar like the ruffian but not near as comfortable or long! Not easy grips to come by in the UK I had to get Vans V2 grips the new 2024 one's they are nice too!
We ride our Aventures mostly on the beach and my only complaint is that after 1 year many of the nuts and bolts are rusting. We don’t go in the water but the salty air is just attacking them. The front facing chrome on the forks is just rusty dimples from blowing sand too.
Hey hey. I am 70 buying EBike I had one 20 years ago Iacoca eBike I wanted Biktrix but they scammed me for $50. So I think Aventon is for me Love your channel Thank you
For the rack, another thing that would work, albeit a bit more complicated. You could try to make those rod ends threaded. Then put a locknut on it. But a hole for a cotter pit could work too. lol
Those long crank arms are the Aventure's biggest detriment on trails. Great upgrade. That said, you'd lose some torque and the bike will not be as easy to pedal without PAS. I've done a 68 mile ride (1 battery) a couple times and would probably have missed the having longer crank arms. So I' on the fence about the change.
Thats a good looking seat, your ass doesn't hurt after 20 miles or so? Good video, wood putty and all! Drill that hole for that rack cotter pin, peace of mind is everything!

@@scotthardesty I'm craving for those seat posts. Hitting a bump at 30mph on your butt hurts more than I initially thought. And I definitely need to change my long cranks. I ordered the same locks blue! I changed my grips to Ergon ga3, made a lot of difference..
What are your thoughts on the motion alarms for e bikes
I recently tested Aventons Cargo bike and ran into a guy who has one on his bike. I liked it and think it’s smart.
@@scotthardesty I can try to send you one if you want to review it
Scott, could you do a video on how to use the "walking mode"? The manual is very sparse on details.
I believe you just hold down the minus (-) button and it goes.
Will done. You have a great demeanor, Scott.
Thanks man!
@@scotthardesty Thanks
I have shorted my cranks and I found that I had to raise my seat a smidgen to get the usual leg extension I'm sued to when the pedal is in the down position,
Thank you, new Aventure.2 lots of pedal strikes and you solved it at 5:57. I will modify my bike in all of Scott's ways in remembrance of a great video.
I purchased a new set of shorter crank arms for the Aventure 2. This should do it for ya! amzn.to/3Z3Z7Zk Thanks for watching!
Is there a good way to install a right handle twist in place of the left thumb throttle?
Sorry Barry, I have no clue. I just reviewed a bike that has a right hand twist throttle. Overall I think I prefer the thumb throttle. I’m sure there is a video out there showing you how to do it.
Very helpful, had same issue with bike rack
I am about to make a video testing out a possible solution!
JUST ORDERED THE ADVENTURE2 AS MY FIRST E-BIKE CANT WAIT TORIDE IT AND MAKE IT MY OWN!!!
Great choice! You will love it!
:) subbed👍
I weight 230 so so you should be good to go! The Aventure is the beast and so fun to ride!
Thanks man, there's a couple good tips in there I'm gonna have to steal from ya like that skip plate. I was goin down calumet today and was wondering if someone made one. I've only got a couple hundred miles on mine so its good to see the pros and cons from someone with more mileage on theirs.
I was super pumped to find that skid plate so yeah, if you plan on hitting trails I would definitely get one.
2nd question, I bought those same cranks for my AA2 and the bike shop said they cant install them because the current cranks are
built into the torque sensor and would "damage" the torque sensor? very strange.
I did not know that. I have also purchased a second set but since I have had no pedal strikes, I have not changed out the cranks.
@@scotthardesty sorry false alarm I apparently bought the wrong cranks as it was a crank and a 1 piece crankset for the other side. sorry for the bad info Scott!
@@Splitt100 Good to know!
I will have to look into those grips. I am putting a video on changing the crank arms very soon. Thanks for watching!
Where did you get another battery
Aventons website.
What about a little Loctite thread locker for the rack issue. A little drop on the nuts and on the bar where it slides through the holes . . .
Thanks for the idea, but that wasn't the issue. I ended up making a video on how I fixed it.
This is a FANTASTIC video; thanks so much. What are you using for a bike stand in order to do mods/adjustments/etc?
Thank you. I don’t have a stand. If I need to do stuff underneath I just turn it over. No real room yet for a stand in my garage!
Hey Scott thanks for the recommendations!! I really like your videos keep them coming!! Ride on 🤙🏼.
Glad you like them!
Greetings from Southern IL! This is my next eBike purchase, looking to sell my Specialized Turbo Vado 5.0. Just waiting on the Green colony to come back in stock. I've liked and subscribed so I can come back and get some of the upgrades you've done to your bike, especially the crank arm and pedals!
Good choice!
I haven’t actually used the panniers yet but it looks like it hooks on to the side mounts of the rack.
Anyone have a recommendation for pannier bag that will hold spare battery?
Check this out. th-cam.com/video/OWDhNafwcHE/w-d-xo.html
excuse me, how's the torque for this ebike? 80N*m?
Yes. 80Nm
@@scotthardesty Ty so much

This is a great accessory list thanks for posting. I'm looking to pimp out my Soltera!!
Thank you!
Which did you choose?
The way you had first said is correct. 😆
Awesome! Thank you for confirming!

Hi Scott....great video. I adore my Aventure and have ordered a couple of your mods. Thanks. I'm thinking that the Chicago Bears could use your services.
hahaha.. Glad I could help. I think the Bears have enough issues without adding me to the mix.
I've recently purchased an aventure. Even knowing that bike geeks can get really into customizing their rides, I didn't think much at all about altering mine until viewing this video. I'll see how the stock experience meets my expectations before going too crazy, but you've definitely given me some food for thought!
Doing these mods have made my bike riding time more enjoyable for sure. Enjoy your Aventure! It's a hell of a bike.
Awesome. Thanks for all the tips. You went over it well.
Thank you
Thanks. Let me know your opinion.
@@gregb7624it will take a bit. Currently heading to Greece for a couple of weeks.
Love your channel, another dope post!
I appreciate that!
I was torn between the Aventon and the Bee Cool Adventure. I am 6'2 and 235. I want to make sure I have the best bike for my frame. Thank you for helping me make that decision.
Good luck!
Another very informative video. Thank you
Thank you!
I can't see good how those 2 front rack rods connect into the frame. It seems like you could just tack weld a spot or 2 on the rods where the ends go through where you say you thought of putting a cotter pin.
You actually could. This video shows the setup more and how I fixed it. th-cam.com/video/SutYVWyW5ms/w-d-xo.html
Any idea which of these don’t work ok the adventure 2?
I have switched almost everything to my A2 that is in this video. The only thing I didn't use is the adjustable stem as I got a smaller model (regular instead of large) and the bike fits me better and not need to adjust the bars. Is there something specific you are wondering about?
@@scotthardestyI'm looking for the adventure.2 regular as well. I'm curious about the seat post shim (27.2->30.4mm), and the seat post (27.2mm x 350mm)...fitting.
@@nebulousJames12345 the Aventure 2 will need a 30.9mm shim.
@@scotthardesty thanks! and i'm assuming the 30.9mm x 350mm seat shock?
@@nebulousJames12345 yup!
I've put that saddle on a couple of my bikes. To include my Aventure 2.
hey bro, at least you didn't say I always wear hands. 😆
I don't even like to wear gloves in the gym.
Thank you!
What is the price on that one?
I feature about 25 items, so I am not really sure what you are asking the price. If you are talking about the bike itself, its currently $1499.
@Scott Hardesty Yes i mant that one, thank you

Great video. Step-though or non step-though. I can't make up my mind.
Thank you! I do like of the look of the Step Over compared to the Step Thru but I know it would be much easier to get on and off as a Step Thru. Let me know what you decide!
I like step overs more than the step thru's, but that's just me.
Scott,
Thank you very much for your video; well done. I recently bought my Aventure and am looking forward to modifying my ride and enjoying future adventures.
The bike is a beast so you will definitely enjoy it!
Great review, I also have a bunch of Aventon content. I really like the Soltera even though it doesn’t go as fast as your bike
Knowing Aventon, they will be coming out with an updated version of the Soltera as well.

Won't find a better grip than Acid Disrupt if you can find them! They come on the new cube ebikes odi do something similar like the ruffian but not near as comfortable or long! Not easy grips to come by in the UK I had to get Vans V2 grips the new 2024 one's they are nice too!
My favorite grips are the one's that come on the Velotric bikes or Trail 1's Hell Gate grips.
We ride our Aventures mostly on the beach and my only complaint is that after 1 year many of the nuts and bolts are rusting. We don’t go in the water but the salty air is just attacking them. The front facing chrome on the forks is just rusty dimples from blowing sand too.
I have a little rust on the chrome part of my front forks as well. I try to clean them often. I would love to do more beach riding on my bike.
Your bike is Awesome!!!
Thank you! I do love it.

thanks man! I hope your new bike serves you well!
I had to run out and check ours for the USB Port. Had no clue!
Right?! Me neither until I saw it in a Facebook group.
For the rack, another thing that would work, albeit a bit more complicated. You could try to make those rod ends threaded. Then put a locknut on it. But a hole for a cotter pit could work too. lol
I ended up figuring out a solution and posted a video but thanks for input!
I haven’t looked at it in thoughts of distance like you just stated. Interesting.
Very nice.. 👍
Thank you!
Thats a good looking seat, your ass doesn't hurt after 20 miles or so? Good video, wood putty and all! Drill that hole for that rack cotter pin, peace of mind is everything!
I’ve put that seat on 2 of my bikes so far. You can go 30 miles and you’re still good. I did a video where I fixed that rack.
Use red lock tight we use it on bolt's on Harley Davidson never had anything vibrate off.
I use the blue lock tight now. Nothing comes undone when you use the red version. That's for sure.
Great video
Thanks!
