    Thank you for your great video! It actually made a huge difference on me getting my generator going today (on Sunday). I have an Oliver Travel Trailer with two 30lb propane tanks, and a Honda 3000is generator on board. I went to Hutch Mountain to get my LP conversion kit, and over the last two days we've worked hard to get things dialed in. Because it was an EXTREMELY tight fit in our "generator basket" on the front of the trailer, we had to do several custom fabrications, drill holes, making brackets, etc. etc. This was to be a permanent installation. In any event, today was "D" day where we tried to fire it up. And . . . . nothing! Motor kept turning and turning. We couldn't figure out what was the problem. When you pressed the spring primer button, you could hear gas flow. So, as usual, we went to youtube looking for help and found your channel/video. Although not apples to apples (you have a 2200, we have a 3000), lots of similarities. Then we got towards the end when you talked about "Eco" mode. We checked our generator, and sure enough it was on "Eco" mode. We turned off Eco mode and it fired right up!!! Hooray!!! Thanks again for your content, it really helped us today. We are now subscribers!! Note to self: Always start generator with eco mode turned OFF!!

    I installed the same kit on my Honda EU2200I, and after multiple camping trips, it has performed flawlessly every time. No more gas, fumes, or worrying about static electricity inside the Jeep while carrying a gas can. Propane may be slightly less efficient than gasoline, but I'll never have a gunked up carburetor or stale gas, and I can easily adjust the regulator for any elevation change (in Arizona, my camping range is 200' to 8,500' elevation). For the performance and convenience advantages, this conversion is worthy of consideraton.

    There are those who would criticize me for being a perfectionist. That is of course until they asked me to work on their projects … then it was okay.
    I believe it was Vince Lombardi who said, “Perfection is not attainable. But if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence.”
    Sadly, it’s difficult to find anyone willing to even pursue excellence these days.

    The video was pretty good, but you forgot to mention the third washer when installing the 90 degree fitting in the hole at the top of the generator case. The third washer is required so that the fitting tightens correctly on the case. I had to take it all apart, which wasn't easy since the close nipple loosened on the wrong side.

    It probably doesn’t matter because it fits either way but the manual instructions say it’s 4 3/4” back from the top edge of the red plastic case border (where it meets the black front face). That would make it about 5/16” towards the front of the unit where you drilled the hole. If you put the metal washer’s left edge of the hole against where you put the tape then the center of the washer would be exactly 4 3/4” from the edge of the red plastic case border.

    Before breaking in my 2200 I bought that magnetic dip stick also. It did collect quite a bit of debris. That felt good!!😊 Should mention that I had a loose Earth magnet in my dipstick that Was loose and would have ended up in my engine. I had that happened to me on my handy 3000 i and mymain bearing is bad in that engine now. And I'm assuming the Earth magnet was stuck to it. I ruffed up both the magnet and the dipstick a little bit and glued the magnet in place with some g flex West systems apoxy from West marine. 😢 I believe that should hold.

    In case you don’t know, propane or natural gas are both very clean burning fuels. Should get longer oil life too. I tore down a Ford tractor engine that burned propane for many years. That was just a slight build up of a white powder in the cylinders and valves. It came off very easy. One downside is propane has less power than gasoline. You may not notice it unless pushing it to the limit (1800 watts). I did see a video using one on a 15,000 BTU AC.
    Houston has none of the eu2200 generators. And no one knows when more will be shipped here. They were all shipped to Louisiana.

    Really a cool video. 👍 Just a quick question? What happens when the generator shuts down on an overload and no one closes the propane tank valve? Is propane leaking in the generator (Garage)?

      I have installed several Hutch Mountain kits, on two EU2200i generators and one EU3000is. If the generator is not running, no propane is drawn through the demand regulator, so no flow. This is a safety feature of this setup. No choke is required for startup on propane.

    • @tomtee4442
      @tomtee4442 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If red overload light is on and shutting down. Back off power immediately it's overloaded and you can burn up the inverter. Never run generator with red light on, flickering or blinking. As instructions say it can damage or shorten the life on a inverter generator. I burned up 2 cheap Chinese inverter generators. My Honda inverter generators take a licking!

    • @CodeBrownProductions
      @CodeBrownProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good question. From my research propane is about 80% as energy dense as regular unleaded fuel. So I won't have the same amount of power but I'll be close. As for run time Hutch Mountain says I can run 30+ hours on a BBQ propane tank but don't clarify what size. I'm think they are referring to a standard 20lbs tank and the generator running at 50% load. Either way my camper has (2) 40lbs tanks on board so I should have more then sufficient supply to run all my needs and then some even on extended trips.

    Do not store gas with fuel stabalizer in any power equipment. I am a mechanic at a Husqvarna dealership and I can tell you from years of experiance stabalizer destroys plastc and rubber parts. Keep the gas tank empty and dry, but have several bottles of shelf stable 4 stroke gas with your generator. VP has an exelent shelf stable 4 stroke gas. If your propane runs out then add the canned gas to the tank. Do not store spair fuel in your generator's tank for more than 1 month.

    • @CodeBrownProductions

      @@CodeBrownProductionsWhats important to understand is that gas evaporates very rapidly. but not all of what makes up gasoline can or will evaporate. What you are left with after evaporation is a much thicker and less combustable substance. Even though the fuel tank is suppoed to prevenent evaporation over time the rubber seal on the gas cap is less effective
      Also, the carburetor is vented to open air through what is called the bowl vent. This means the gas sitting in the carb is very prone to evaporation. As the gas evaporates out of the carb more fresh gas trickles in from the tank alowing consant evaporation of the fuel supply. As a result of this process the carborator becomes clogged by the degraded fuel. About 90% of the repairs I do are carboretor cleans which is the only remody for this conditon. If you store the generator with the fuel switch set to OFF you will prevent new gas from entering the carb, but the small amount of gas in the carb with still degrade.
      What fuel stabaliser does is it makes old, degraded gas more comustable, but I dont believe it can prevent the gas from degrading in the first place. The chemicals in stabaliser are hard on plastc and rubber though so almost every generator I work on which has had stabaliser in its gas over spring and summer needs a carb rebuild.
      I know this is alot of information and someday I want to start making videos about this stuff, but I thought I should share what knowledge I have on the subject.
      As an additonal side note our gas nowdays has ethanol in it which literaly absorbs moisture out of the air. This resoults in water pooling at the bottom of gas tanks and carburetors which leads to rust and corrosion.

      It's part of the kit. The stick just shows that you place the slecetor in the Generator ON and Fuel OFF position to run on propane.

      A Honda dealer said their Honda inverter generators warranty covers manufacturers defects only!
      What is not covered is all these gasoline problems like:
      Stale gasoline,
      Clogged up carburetor,
      Not getting gasoline,
      Gasoline in the crankcase,
      Needle and seat,
      Gasoline flooding,
      Clogged up fuel filter,
      Clogged up Spark arrestor,
      Starting but won't power up,
      Hard to start,
      Won't start,
      Fouled spark plug,
      And more!!!
      All these problems above are prevented by using propane or natural gas. By using natural gas or propane the generator will last two to three times longer. Because there is never any black carbon crud build up inside the engine ever which causes leaky valves and piston rings that won't spin on the Piston Ring lands. Which causes loss of power Blow by and eventually not running appliances. And then it's engine rebuilding or generator replacement at that point.
      I own and sell this generator just like this new in the box. I've been in the business for years. I've installed many of dual and tri-fuel kits. I've also had a car running and drove a car on propane. If you're interested in a new generator like this or the New Honda 1000 Tri fuel. Leave me a message thanks.

    Generator running - connected to LPG bottle.
    Generator quits running for whatever reason.
    Gas continues to flow through the open valve on the LPG bottle.
    Is this a safety issue ?

    • @CodeBrownProductions
      @CodeBrownProductions  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's an on demand regulator. Propane won't flow unless it's under negative pressure from the generator. Of course it's a mechanical valve so there's always the risk of failure but that's with anything.

      I'm not sure of the exact number because I haven't ran it dry yet. But Hutch Mountain says it can run up to 30 hours on a standard BBQ tank. I'm assuming they are referring to 50% load on a 20lbs tank. So with two 40lbs tanks I would expect 120hr......ish

    from experience the problem with all these kits is if your generator stops running for any reason the propane keeps flowing. Also it burns more propane than gasoline about 30% more. it saves you nothing.

    • @CodeBrownProductions
      @CodeBrownProductions  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not so much for savings of money but convince because I already carry large amounts of propane. It's just easier to carry once fuel source.

    • @tomtee4442
      @tomtee4442 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No if the 6" valve or engine stops the propane stops. I installed a load block on top of valve. I adjusted leaner for a little more power more fuel efficiency and can be adjusted easy for higher elevations. I converted a few generators and used load blocks on the conversions. A propane engine will last twice as long as a gasoline engine will, less problems, more dependable, no treating fuel, no carb problems, no starting every week, less maintenance because the oil lasts longer and the spark plug never turns black. Propane is the lazy man's fuel and preppers fuel. In my area propane is $2.00 a gallon and in the long run it's the cheaper way to go with way less problems!!!

      You should read my other comment it explains Honda's warranty straight from Honda. It's what Honda said. All those gasoline related problems are not covered under warranty. They will fix it but you're going to pay for it. All those gasoline related problems don't happen when you run propane or natural gas! And the engine last two to three times longer running propane or natural gas.

      @@adamr8628I've installed several fuel conversion kits for Honda generators, other generators and engines. I won't mention names but if your referring to Honda fuel kits. The one Honda kit with the rubber glued snorkel piece going in the carberator can fall off and do catastrophic engine damage? The other Honda kit one where you drill holes in the Hondas case because the flow is not right on the base plate? Or the other Honda kit where you don't have a gasoline tank anymore and can't run gasoline at all because you remove the gas tank? Hutch Mountain has the best kit for the Hondas. Their is 3 more kits out there for the Honda I won't use their kits again. And I won't use some other fuel conversion kits either.
