I think your assessment is spot on! I hope Google will let the consumer decide what form factor they like best. For a smart watch, I like a rectangular form factor for consuming information. Since Google owns both companies, I guess the profit hits the primary bottom line, but to ruin a product that alot of people like more than your current offering, does not make good business sense. Google purchased Fitbit because they had a somewhat good customer base and now they sacrifice it for their girl looking watch.. Im a little up set honestly.

Very good and fair review. I've had Fitbits for a couple of years, and i do like them. On the Sense, I really like the new physical button, the snappier interface (believe me, it IS faster than the old versions!), the stress feature (maybe; actually it might be more annoying than anything else), and the sleep tracking, which is quite in-depth, relative to Apple or other watches. I do worry that Fitbit is being left behind now that the Pixel watch is on the scene. I actively dislike the form factor of the Pixel watch, and I hate the 18h battery life. Note that Fitbit's battery will last 6 days for most users. I just hope you and other reviewers are incorrect that we can't expect any improvements to this watch. We will see!
With always on off, I took my Pixel watch off charger at 4AM. It is 8 Pm now and I'm at 19%. Not impressed. ECG rarely works, crashes a lot and the watch looks tiny on my small man wrists. Pixel watch does have a nice screen and LTE is reliable when using, GPS gets signal fast. Interface is also fast. The crown is small and hard to manipulate. Fitbit Sense 2 still has a lot going for it in my opinion, it just needs faster Gps acquisition and offline syncing to be a winner in my book
I'm so disappointed with what Fitbit has been doing to these two watches, that I finally moved on, reluctantly. Loved my original Versa, had it 4 years and it just recently died. Got tired of the paywall and tired of the promise to get certain features that never happened. As I am an Android user, I decided to go with a Garmin. Can't wait for my new watch!

10 months later, Sense2 and Versa4 have been the best smartwatches FitBit ever made. The software has been brilliant, no more connectivity issues no more apps that don't work, fluid experience. Thanks, Google for bringing Fitbit back from the dead.
I went with the Fitbit compared to Apple Watch because I was tired of all the other apps that come with Apple Watch. I don’t need to look at news and emails and all the other stuff that comes with apple. Just needed to simplify fitness tracking.
I think there is room in the market for fitness focused trackers with basic smart watch features. Fitbit really seems to fit that bill for me. But... If the Pixel watch ever has 4 to 6 day battery life, I'm buying.
Very rightly said its become like a step child and now with Fitbit clarifying that there is going to be no 3rd party app support , it really isn't a smart watch anymore. There is no wifi, calendar, calculator, no music controls, Spotify, Starbucks and other bunch of apps it had. Feel cheated after buying sense 2 that there will be no 3rd party apps. The clock faces are very limited whatever Fitbit provides. Fitbit pay has very little banks association outside the US and here in India, there has been no Fitbit Pay till today. They say they are expanding that has never happened. Sense2 was supposed to be Fitbit's flagship and now it seems to be reduced to just a fitness tracker and there is not much difference between Versa 3 and Sense2. This could be the start of the end of Fitbit. Apart from the great battery life, display and how comfortable it is, there is clearly no justification for its price tag. I would see if I can return it and it will be an end to 12 year association with Fitbit devices.
I got the Versa 3 and I really feared that Google ruins FitBit. I am kind of relieved that this did not happen. I love that FitBit is not that cramped with custom apps and has such an amazing battery life. You can use your phone to do all the fancy stuff, why should you use your watch for that. This is a watch after all
I had too many software issues with notification not vibrating on Sense 1. phone calls were very buggy. Unless they use WearOs, I'm not touching any of their watches.
Unfortunately the versa 4 and sense 2 are extremely incompetent smartwatches. It's weird that fitbit is going in this direction as these are smartwatches. I just can't feel comfortable about the fact that there isn't any 3rd party installable apps other than Alexa, Google Maps and Wallet.
I just don't like the Pixel watch shape. I prefer squarish shapes. They need to continue a Fitbit line for iphone users. They would lose customers, iPhone users are not leaving apple for a pixel with Fitbit.
Feels to me like Fitbits are losing features and getting worse with each iteration. The Fitbit Ionic had physical buttons, an okay app gallery, and onboard music. The Sense 1 is incompatible with some of the apps in the gallery available to Ionic (because of lack of buttons), no standalone onboard music storage, and no proper button. The Sense 2 doesn't seem to come with any third party apps at all! Still no music storage! It's like a 'smartwatch' but without the smart. It's a bizarre marketing strategy.
I care about accurate health info. steps, detailed sleep, vital signs and battery life. I dont care about youtube, text and calls. My two cents : Laggy outdated software, pay to play for full featured app, hit & miss heart rate tracking. Not good enough in todays landscape. It’s a miss ..
I currently have the Versa 2 and looking to upgrade my smartwatch. I watched your videos on the latest Watch SE and this one, and the Sense 2 has sold me on the Watch SE. I just feel like Apple is putting more focus into their smartwatches, and as you said, Google has been neglecting the Fitbit products for a while now. The Fitbit App itself also has not had a major update in years and is way behind on feel. Half the time my Versa 2 isn’t even connected to my phone
That connection issue was starting to affect my sense (1st gen). Got the Galaxy Watch 5 pro and it just works well with 3-4 days of battery. It's just nice to have good apps and functionality.
Just bought the original Sense for all the reasons you outlined in this video. I'm not going to pay $350 for the Pixel Watch for what it seems like you're not getting, and the Sense 2 isn't a big upgrade for the additional money. I have a Pixel and I've seen that the Galaxy watches are limited too. Hoping that 6-12 months from now, we see the Pixel Watch/Fitbit situation clarify a bit on direction.
The direction is purging Fitbit. They’ll have charge and inspire probably, but not these types. Anyone who thinks otherwise need only look at Pebble. I remember the acquisition of it by Fitbit and the promised and then complete retooling and murder of pebble
I think that Fitbit should have gone in a different direction. Instead of adding more features to the Watch, give me more insight about my data, like recovery time and recommend exercises.
I'm actually pretty impressed with Samsung tracking, they have added sweat loss, cadence, foot strike evaluations, vo2 max, heart rate recovery and so much more. Oura rings are champs for actual workout recovery in my book.
How about Fitbit omitting all the third party apps on the new watches? You didn't mention that at all. Third party apps were available for earlier Versa and Sense versions but not anymore for Sense 2 and Versa 4. Fitbit totally is the neglected step child which will eventually be left all alone.
To be honest, this feels like a product they were contractually obligated to produce somehow. It feels like Fitbit already had it in the works when the sale went through. I got a Charge 5 recently, so I'm not really in the market for this, but a Fitbit device with the Google Assistant and Google apps would be right up my alley. It makes a lot more sense to me than the Pixel watch with Fitbit software on it. I know that sounds like a contradiction, but it's a matter of focus. Having the fitness stuff in the foreground on a smartwatch just makes more sense to me. The only other thing a smartwatch really does well is getting notifications. For some reason, I've never been able to get Fitbits to measure my distance correctly in exercises, regardless of whether I'm using my phone or a built-in GPS (as on the Charge 5). I think it's because I'm in a wheelchair. That seems to throw the Walk exercise off. I've had mixed results with Bike, too.
I have a samsung device and I dont know if to buy fibit or gw 5. Im afraid that samsung health app is not as good as fitbit app when it comes to how often you worked out in a week and reminding you if you missed a work out and my main thing is fitness
I am also in a wheelchair and when asking Fitbit if they will introduce a wheelchair mode at some point, like the Apple Watch, they answered saying that they will not consider it since people in wheelchairs are not their target audience. 🤷🏻♀️ So I guess we have to live with numbers that are VERY off.
it's now a stepchild for sure. I bought then returned unopened the pixel watch due to missing fitbit features vs. sense and poor battery. hoping pixel v2 fixes those - adds all missing sense tracking features, adds a temp sensor and bigger version with bigger battery (and hopefully newer processor with lower power consumption). at that point, sense 2 isn't needed by google. already you can tell they stopped work or pulled features in deference to the pixel watch. the fitbit software is pretty good / comprehensive so they'll make that more seamless with pixel watch in v2. then, the sense is a dead end, long live the sense. will hold on to my sense 1 until pixel watch v2 and then hopefully make the jump. if not, may have to get a garmin epix although lack of LTE and voice call answering (speaker / mic) hamper me there. I could do without some of the google features that I love but would prefer to see a home run in pixel watch v2.
Mike you nailed this review! Every questionable decision google made with the design I have already noticed. It is a great watch and build that I love which makes me kinda happy but I don't like wearing Googles stepchild. Google is famous for dropping products which makes me think the Sensa 2 will have a very short life span. I could have spent that 200.00 on a worthy watch. I do love the find my phone feature and want to love the take calls. It only worked one time very well. The other times it has always flacked out. Thanks for such a wonderful review!
So if someone is just looking for basic activities, nothing hard-core and looking to track sleep and get a baseline of how they’re doing healthwise do you think the original Fitbit sense is good enough or do you think the sense 2 is better? Or is there a different tracker that does the same things, but is all-around better? Thanks!
You will never sell me on wear os. It is unnecessarily bloated. FitbitOS is perfect. I'm on the original sense. Sticking to it until they have all of the features available on the sense 2 and reenable wifi. Bluetooth updates are painful.
How's the haptics for an incoming call? Does it vibrate as long as the phone rings like the Apple Watch? Or does it only vibrates twice like the Fitbit Charge 5?
why, have to buy premium abonnement?. no other clock companies making smartwatches and training watches do have premium abonnements.. When you buy a product, you should also get all stuff free.. Sad,.. its a nice looking watch, but require premium abonnement for use.. Have tried several Fitbits, nice watches, but require premium abomnnements for use.. Either Garmin or Polar require premium abonnements for use..
Great vid Mike! - I just got a Sense 2 (great Black Friday price!). I think you pretty much nailed it. I'm sure Google acquired FitBit for the technology, and patents, and eventually FitBit as we know it will disappear. Until then, I hope to get good support (and the Google Assistant) on my Sense 2 before it fades away into the sunset... - Cheers!
Have not ever been able to get the sense 2 to connect with Bluetooth. Even though it says it is on setup screen … but when I go to look under the app- calls- it says disabled?
Which would you recommend, this watch for $299, or the original sense + 1yr of premium for $150 using my recall discount? Is the haptic button on the original sense bad enough to pay the extra for the sense 2?
I would go with the sense one. Watching this video I don't see anything different than the other one. Maybe the processor is faster but it's something you don't really see. Plus all those features he names you have to pay the monthly subscription as you know the premium. So honestly if I were you I would just stick with the sense and maybe wait until sense 2 comes down.
I had the Versa 3 for 3 weeks and hated that haptic button. Had to press at just the right angle and only worked 50% of the time. Was so excited for button to come back on the 4, until I found out that Fitbit was changing so many other things. Went with a Garmin instead.
@@sherirosenbaum887 is it possible to use it without using the side button thay much? Somone else told me that they hardly used the button because they just swiped and tapped the screen
@@Guyerbassist I've had my Versa 3 for a couple years now and never experienced any issues with the haptic button...will gladly stay with Versa 3 not going to give up all the missing features and function for a single button of the Sense 2.
@@SC-hp9sy I ended up getting the sense 1 even though the sense 2 was availble on the discount page and it hasn't been an issue for me. I do prefer the clicky buttons on the ionic but I have no issues with the haptic
Google should make two pixel watches now… one cheaper 200$ line (may be slightly better version of this fitbit line) and another the high-end robust pixel watch with 300$ line. The new pixel watch is i think over priced because i feel like it wont be able to justify the price although we are yet to see how good or bad it is.
I got a Pixel watch but the battery is horrible compared to my previous Galaxy Watch 4. Tempted to go back to that or go to Sense 2 I always liked Fitbit. If they ever add offline syncing, they will definitely win me back.
I've had many discussions with them! Problems...1. People are allergic to silicon! They promise to send replacement but don't! 2. Charger is defective- pins break! They replaced twice!-Needs a glass back like galaxy and others! 3. The holes for charging get clogged with dead skin- again, use a magnetic charger! 4. 3+ years promise more banks will sign on for Fitbit credit...None did!!! 5. Promise of more apps and watch faces! Yah right! Loved Fitbit but now I have a Galaxy! I love the Fitbit app and premium ...It is by far better than apples and the coaching addition is awesome, but the cost is way too much! They will strip out design features and keep the app for the Google! We need, O2 all night and on demand, blood sugar, blood pressure and temp...all free feature that can be sent to Doctor! Eeg and afib too! It's all doable now! I checked!
Should I get this one over the Garmin Venu 2 Plus or should I stay with my Galaxy Watch 4? I want to really get into fitness and weight loss. Only thing I really hate about my Galaxy Watch 4 is the horrible battery so I'm thinking about getting a second one, either using that one for fitness or the one I currently have. Anyone who has some advice?
I have the fitbit. Versa 2 and really like it. But I'd love to see an updated Versa 5. I don't think this is going to happen. Google isn't going to put money into the Versa and Sense when it has its own Pixel watch.
There will always be a large segment of iOS users who just want to stick with Fitbit because that's what they already know, or choose a lower end Fitbit because it's cheaper
Unfortunately, Fitbit stopped making progress from Versa and Sense point of view after Versa 2, to be polite. Missing functionality, no 3rd party apps and tiles changed to a list, and over-sensitive setup of time or options on the watch, and you can't turn off the screen witha button anymore. Not to mention other issues with, for example, setting up Fitbit/Google Pay. I bought Sense 2. It's a half-product and I wouldn't have it for free! It's so rubbish. If only I could have it with Versa 2 software, that would make it a great watch again. It doesn't feel like Fitbit do care anymore. If it doesn't change, Versa 2 is my last Fitbit product after 9 years of being a loyal user.
Google seems to be sacrificing battery life for features. The Google Pixel sounds nice until you hear that it only has a 24-hour battery life. It makes no sense ( pun intended) for older watches like the Versa series & Fitbit Sense 2 to have 5 times the battery life than the newer devices. These smartwatches naturally tend to lose battery life over time. So, that pixel watch will be down to half a day of battery power in no time, and you would have shelled out 300 dollars for it. Planned obsolescence.
I've got the FB sense and been looking at upgrades. This is still £200 big ones. I like the haptic button on the sense. It is slow interface. My battery last about 2 days now. I can't get myself to buy a Samsung with poor battery life. Tbh I think I keep the sense. The tech needs to improve alot. Pixel watch does not seem any better and too small
I’ve worn Fitbit devices for 10 years. Decided to upgrade to the Sense 2 from the fitbit Blaze. The battery on my new device lasted less than 2 days. It’s supposed to last 5-7 days. Called Fitbit customer service. They instructed me to send the device back. Awaiting a new Sense 2. Fitbit customer service is very good.
Nice review, but this product should not have been called Sense 2 rather Sense Light as it is really just a dumb downed version of the previous model. Google just killed the golden egg of functionality for Fitbit.
Anyone who used this watch can tell me how accurate is ECG monitoring of this watch and have you pay for the app to monitor the data? i want to buy one for my DAD who is a heart patient.
I think your assessment is spot on! I hope Google will let the consumer decide what form factor they like best. For a smart watch, I like a rectangular form factor for consuming information. Looks like google is destroying fitbit in order for their pixel watch to shine more. I noticed that all 2022 released watch fitbit has a lot of missing features compare tl their old versions.
I love Fitbit, but I purchased this watch & returned it 3 days later. It’s not worth upgrading from the original Sense & I can live with the haptic button.
I found my Versa 2 was to slow doing anything and finally got fed up and threw it away. It was junk imo. Also those fancy clock faces aren't as easy to use as you show, you must download or buy at other online stores and keep track because it doesn't have any sort of library on your account purchases. They're all over the place. It's hard to even find half the stuff this entire OS sucks
What most interests me is does it come with wifi on the watch itself. I don't want to be forced to get internet connection via phone. If anyone could answer I would be much grateful.
Did anyone answer you? No you need your phone to be within range. I got one but it would not connect easily to GPS signal, and when it eventually did, it couldn't hang on to it. I returned it😢
The battery life is a big lie. I have one for less than a month and the battery (without using any of the draining apps, except GPS) last for less than 24 hours. I am returning the watch because of this. There is nothing to be done.
Oh yeah! The inne button sucks! The problem is the rubber seal after 1 year or battery change! It will leak if not done by factory! Thats why they got rid of the stud button and use the new one!
I’m getting bored of Fitbit Versa… just feels like that same watch all that time.. I had the Versa 1, 2 & 3, and I hated the 3… because it didn’t have a button, so I sent it back and kept my 2.. I am glad the button is back, but I’m bored with is . Might get this one but it’s just the same watch with more features
I just returned my Galaxy watch 5 because of the horrible battery life and how complicated it was for me. So do I get the Fitbit Sense 2? The galaxy battery was the deal breaker and sounds like the Google watch will also have a horrible battery. ( I have a Samsung S22 Phone )

Sense 2 is $80 on Amazon today! Get it while it's hot.
When will you post a video on the new Pixel Watch?
How about Fitbit omitting all the third party apps on the new watches? You didn't mention that at all. Third party apps were available for earlier Versa and Sense versions but not anymore for Sense 2 and Versa 4. Fitbit totally is the neglected step child which will eventually be left all alone.
It'll be the same as what Apple did with Beats.
Just that it would be more impactful here since fitbits cost more and are interactive unlike earbuds.
Definitely needs Spotify and 16-32 GB of storage
Does the original sense still have 3rd party apps and everything… like if I were to buy that one?
Is the Fitbit app a subscription service or is it free?
You have no idea how much I appreciate you NOT saying the always listening "assistants" name... 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you! This was an amazing review!
- Cheers!
nice all-round review. keep the good work.
Is it possible to use for two person time to time? For health monitoring purposes.
Have not ever been able to get the sense 2 to connect with Bluetooth. Even though it says it is on setup screen … but when I go to look under the app- calls- it says disabled?
I have used for several months, but the problem is the strap, I have changed six straps, every time it's breaking.
Not sure weather to get fitbit sense 2 or Apple Watch SE any help?
Google should make two pixel watches now… one cheaper 200$ line (may be slightly better version of this fitbit line) and another the high-end robust pixel watch with 300$ line. The new pixel watch is i think over priced because i feel like it wont be able to justify the price although we are yet to see how good or bad it is.
I got a Pixel watch but the battery is horrible compared to my previous Galaxy Watch 4. Tempted to go back to that or go to Sense 2 I always liked Fitbit. If they ever add offline syncing, they will definitely win me back.
Bring it to google and get your refund.I advise you to take the Fitbit sense 2
How is it compared to all the health measurements that sense have, and especially the app?
I checked!
My confusion is why they removed google assistant even though they are going to add google maps and google wallet 😂
I just ordered it and will be getting it soon. I paid $175.00 after taxes.
Can this be used to connect with the dexcom g7 app?
Wearing watch while sleeping is very uncomfortable. Is there any other better way to track sleep?
I have the fitbit. Versa 2 and really like it. But I'd love to see an updated Versa 5. I don't think this is going to happen. Google isn't going to put money into the Versa and Sense when it has its own Pixel watch.
I've been waiting for this video!!! I love your content
Is there ecg and blood pressure?
Will it work with the I phone?
I was thinking of getting a Fitbit to replace my galaxy watch (very poor autonomy).
It's sad to read that quality has regressed :(
Returned mine after less than 24 hrs!
Why
Thank you; very helpful review.
No music control,no Google assistant... that's sucks
Also .will they continue to support the sense. I assume they will not be putting any development into it. I love my Sense.
So 2 years later and it’s basically the same as the original sense…
Not even the same because they got rid of 3rd party apps so it's basically now a good looking fitness tracker.
@@potato.cabbage98 okay so worse?
@@charlieyates492 you got that right!
Anyone who used this watch can tell me how accurate is ECG monitoring of this watch and have you pay for the app to monitor the data? i want to buy one for my DAD who is a heart patient.
I’ll be changing to an iwatch very soon if google doesn’t hurry up and put google maps on the Fitbit for iOS
Looks like google is destroying fitbit in order for their pixel watch to shine more. I noticed that all 2022 released watch fitbit has a lot of missing features compare tl their old versions.
Can I add personal photos on the face like I did on the Fitbit Sense? Thank you.
Waiting for your Pixel Watch review!
That video is coming soon!
i want a fitbit so bad but i have an apple watch not sure if i should switch
Also, will my numerous Fitbit bans that I bought for my Fitbit Sense fit Sense2?
I don't like it when you get a notification and the screen doesn't light up
Does it keep popping ads, like any other Google product?
I love Fitbit, but I purchased this watch & returned it 3 days later. It’s not worth upgrading from the original Sense & I can live with the haptic button.
I found my Versa 2 was to slow doing anything and finally got fed up and threw it away. It was junk imo. Also those fancy clock faces aren't as easy to use as you show, you must download or buy at other online stores and keep track because it doesn't have any sort of library on your account purchases. They're all over the place. It's hard to even find half the stuff this entire OS sucks
I sent mine back....the touch screen was intermittent and completely unreliable. I bought a Garmin instead. My Sense 2 was a nightmare.
I returned it😢
Am I able to text the person back on this watch?
I hate the paywall so much. Apple did theirs better
I have no idea how to use phone, texts, GPS, etc on this watch! Help!!!
Fantastic now there will be afd after ad on your fitbit
Garmin is superior in every way to Fitbit. Get a Venu 2 and call it a day.
Agreed. Of all the fitness watches Garmin is still on top
Is Google maps on the sense 2?
The battery life is a big lie. I have one for less than a month and the battery (without using any of the draining apps, except GPS) last for less than 24 hours. I am returning the watch because of this. There is nothing to be done.
love the design n shape
Ad oggi c'è Google assistant, chiamate e controllo musica con Spotify?
Still continuously disconnecting as the Versa 3? Unusable
Better than Pixel?
Kinda funny there the pixel watch is actually the stepchild. Many Fitbit Features are missing compared to this
I just returned my Galaxy watch 5 because of the horrible battery life and how complicated it was for me. So do I get the Fitbit Sense 2? The galaxy battery was the deal breaker and sounds like the Google watch will also have a horrible battery. ( I have a Samsung S22 Phone )
No Get the Garmin venu 2 that watch is far superior and right now amazon has it for a hundred dollars off so it's going for $299 right now.
I went with Garmin Venu sq 2. Up to 11 day battery life, no paywall, and everything Fitbit should've done on the Versa.
can u make phone calls, answering text messages?
get all your notfications to your phone to watch?
You can on sense 1, can not answer for sense 2
The only way forward
Flagship: pixel watch
Kill: fitbit
Revive: pebble
I miss my pebble
This is the right design for a smartwatch (rectangular). Google will learn
