- Taking the camera around the city streets to record some of the changing architecture happening during the massive redevelopment of the central area. Once a thriving mill town Blackburn was hit hard when this industry failed. It has one of the highest Muslem communities in England yet in the centre of the city you would not appreciate this. Opened today, 1st June 2011, the new market hall beneath the existing shopping mall sees the fruition of one of the biggest redevelopment projects so far.

I was born in North London in 1957, My folks moved up north to Blackburn.in 1959, and I'm so glad they did, I loved growing up in this Old cotton town,Its my real home,
I was born and schooled in Blackburn so lots and lots of memories , haven't been back to the town centre in over 30 years , what a change 😂 but I will say people from the north are friendly down to earth ,
Blackburn isn’t so bad. Yeah, I know it’s got loads of empty shops but that’s not Blackburn’s fault. It’s a national thing. Outside some of the more affluent pockets nowhere in the uk has yet got a grip on that problem.
I was born in Blackburn, Lancs. It is mostly unrecognizable to me these days. I now live in Victoria, Australia. Funnily enough, I have a client company that is in Blackburn, a suburb of Melbourne. I enjoyed my visit to the "old Blackburn"

@orthusnet Thanks for the feedback, appreciated. I don't have a D5100. I had Nikon D90 and D5000 but honestly for video they were hopeless and just a gimmick. I know Nikon have made several improvements but I've now gone the Canon EOS 550D and 60D route. They are much better but you are still limited to short clip lengths of 12 minutes before they overheat & shuts down. I have the Panasonic GH1 and that is far better and i'm considering the GH2 for autofocus video. My SD700 camcorder is still #1
Great Images, however Blackburn biggest mistake was allowing the old market to be demolished, and replacing it with the soulless precinct.
Old market was the best with the good old Sunday morning carboot sale running on top
I go to Blackburn every year, twice time. But i have to catch another bus from Accrington to get there. I go there every year to find out about their situations & circumstances.

City ! not sure I like this title, Blackburn is a town, a proud town, We may have a cathedral, But we are a town, and we are quite happy with that.

It was gonna be a city because they had a cathedral but Preston got turned into a city and they don't even have a cathedral

@orthusnet No, you can shoot continuously upto the file size limit of 2GB or 29 minute 59seconds in Europe without any problem and the bit rate is now 24Mbps so the quality is much improved over the "un-hacked GH1"
