Remember the days we could leave our front doors open and not worrie. Now its so much different. Please bring some more old vidios of greatharwood too thats were i lived moved away wen i was 8 years old to a completely new city. Thank you so much for putting this up so nice i cried watching it.❤❤❤ Could you do some more please. Thank you.
Lovely old pics ! Makes me so sad and angry to see what Blackburn's become. I know you can't turn the clock back, but these old photos make me yearn for the past. All the little old streets and lovely, ordinary, decent people. All swept away and gone forever.
Oh" How I miss the old place ! much like an old friend, My young life growing up here in the old back street terraced houses of Audley, I shall treasure for eternity. All those wonderful people I once knew, who made this old town a pleasure to grow up in,
I was born in a streeet behind Thwaites brewery in 1951, coal fires, gas ceiling lights, loo in the back yard. As a kid I had to scrub the paving stones outside with vim scouring powder. No tele, no phone, no internet, just honest hardworking and friendly people. How I miss it!
Brought a tear to my eye . Recognised most of the places and I was only born in 1962 . What happened and what went wrong ? The whole place including the people have changed and not for the better I may add , thank you for sharing the clip
Very sad a job for life a thing of the past. It’s been made to go this way by corporate greed. Nothings the same anymore, I too was born in 1962, I don’t recognise this world anymore.
Great video enjoyed the nostalgia as was brought up in Blackburn in the 60s and 70s, maybe being on lockdown in Spain during the pandemic makes you miss the happy times more... stay safe everyone.
You probably wouldn't like to see it now pal. Probably best left as a nice memory. It's a hotbed for child grooming and about 3 weeks ago their was a drive by shooting on King Street. It's gone right down the pan.
I was born in Blackburn and still living here. The old Blackburn was better and it's a shame this and past clueless council have wiped out landmarks and historic streets.
I was born in Blackburn in 1962. Joined the army when I was 17 and have travelled and lived all over the world but would always come home to Blackburn when I could, its not what it was but for me, it is still my hometown.
I walk up and down Balaclava Street 2 or 3 times per day... the lone white man saying "Wa Salam Alaykum" to Muslims... Peace be with You - the New Jerusalem is coming to Blackburn...
loved watching this and seeing the old streets!used to live in Fielden st and had lots of friends around montague st and Leyland st in the 60s.well done and the choice of music made it very relaxing to watch!thanks for the memories!
Yes Johns pics are a bit special, but l think all three of you guys have done a great service to the town, the affection for the place shines through your work,
I loved this...I lived in byrom streer, and montague street spent a lot of time round denville street etc.....made me quite sad watching this....wish I could turn back time...
never tire of old blackburn snaps,we should appreciate more the time and effort people like yourself and john eddlleston have put in over long periods of time, colin too ofcourse, its much appreciated,
Hi I was born in blackburn in 1978. but moved to blackpool when i was three. my mum used to take us to see my grandad in the Bastwell area, i was wondering if anyone has any pics they could upload. x
Daisy lane at 6:12 is actually Daisy street. As a child we lived at No 108 ,second or third house on the right next to the white corner house. The side street on the right is/was Ross street. The street on the left ( I believe to be Napier street )led on to Moss street.
@@blank-dr2kx Yes , you are right,it is indeen Daisy lane, the wall on daisy street near our house had and still has to this day, rail tracks and no trees. Thanks for pointing that out.
