Drooling over home decor on Facebook Marketplace (and why the colour orange haunts me)

  • In this video we'll go through my saved items on Facebook Marketplace and you'll get to tell me what things I should buy. We have everything from silver broches to vintage wool blankets, but primarily fun, unique and vintage home decor and furniture. What about the sleeping couch designed by Hans J Wegner, a classic Danish design piece? Or should I focus on new things that one day might be vintage pieces, like the Simrishamn lamp from IKEA?
Which things should I buy and not? Also - Why is the colour orange haunting me?

Lovely Alejandra, I think the sofa is an invest, buy it😂. I love the acryl orange table❤, the lamp with the green cable, too. The carpet goes with orange because there is not much pink in it, that creates a certain tension. At least the orange vase is cool.🤗

I love the wall lamp and the sofa. I agree about the carpet: the wave is too trendy and not in a good way. I've seen broaches pop up in Stories here in the US also. I think they are becoming a thing and can be really useful. For me, I want to limit how many pieces of jewelry I wear at a time or it just quickly becomes too much. So I might have a hard time incorporating a broach but there are some really cool sculptural ones out there.

I agree with you! I don’t have much jewellery either, but I often feel I would have liked to accessorize my outfits a little bit more. It’s a constant debate in my head (and wardrobe) 😅

Yes yes! I’m in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA. The cost for vintage furniture and home decor is very very expensive especially on FB marketplace. It can be hit or miss, dealing with sellers etc. I’m eyeing a few furniture pieces on Chairish. Love the video!

Omg really! You should come to Denmark or Sweden! Especially outside the bigger cities 😍

Love the IKEA wall lamp and orange plastic table. I love brooches and wear them a lot (🇨🇦)-often on my toque or hats, but also on pockets of my jackets. The sofa seems a tad pricy if you have to then add more $ to get new foam. I like the chrome pendant lamp a lot too and the rococo A.

Fun to hear about the brooches and nice that you use them! I think we'll see more people wear them soon! The sofa is one of those forever dream items for me I guess. 😍

New sub here! I have the simshiran lamp and it's soo lovely. I positioned mine in between the dining table and sofa so I can rotate it. Every guest always compliments the lamp😅

Imo the silver wall lamp, silver ceiling lamp, absolutely love the idea of more blanket-jackets, I agree with you about carpets(they have to either be vintage or look timeless) I do love the sofa, but...maybe too expensive if it will need work, in the US where I live, there are options for cheap couches if you want to reupholster anyway. Can't wait to see the guest room :)

Carpets are so tricky! Most of the new one’s I see out there are so boring! Better stay with the classics 👌

I love the couch but i’m afraid it might be à but incomfortable for a everyday room, maybe more for a daybed or something… but i understand the appeal !
I absolutely love a bit of plexiglas or plastic in a home, go for it !
I also like the wall mounted lamp, something chromed is good.
On the other hand i dont like the woody ceiling lamp, it is too much for me, and it reminds me of origami shaped house design accessories like faux trophies of animals heads that I hate.
I don’t wear broches but I love and wear pin’s and I live in Paris, but I don’t see a lot of people wearing it..
I like the idea of a colored electric cord!
I looove the blanket, I absolutely love pink with a constrasting color.
It means I love the colors of the carpet but I agree with you, I’m afraid it will age in style pretty fast..
    Have a good day !!

Hahah origami shaped animal heads 😂 I totally get what you mean! It’s hilarious! About the couch… That’s the tricky part - gotta test sit before I would buy 🤔

Hello Alejandra, lovely video! About the brooches, I think that in Greece, where I live and I'm from, they are a thing of the past. My grandmas wore them whenever they would get more dressed up, either on a blouse or on their heavy coats. It was more of a winter accessory for them I guess. My mum and my aunt may still use a brooch now and then but I think it will be a bit of an extra special accessory and not the basic everyday jewelry. And they ( mum and aunt) will most likely use one on a scarf, a dress or generally a softer airy fabric. Me (32yo), I may have never worn one in my life. Though I own a couple. Of course that's just a single person's experience. I'm sure the more stylish/fashion oriented a person is, the more likely to see them using anything as accessory. But if we are talking about the majority, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't spot a single brooch on a simple stroll around Greece. Thank you for making me think about this. Have a nice weekend!

I love to read these stories from around the world! It’s actually the same thing here in Scandinavia, it’s only older ladies that wear them, but I think they are coming back and going to be used by younger people too. We’ll see if that happens 😍🫶

The vase is beautiful! And that sofa looks so modern. For brooches, I watched this video by Jessica Neistadt where she styles them over button openings on coats and to secure sweaters over your shoulders. (starts at 1:29) th-cam.com/video/ymguqdOcHvE/w-d-xo.html
