In this video I do another hack of the nintendo e-reader to create custom events, with brand new sprites and new custom locations. I worked very hard to bring the most authentic events yet, so please enjoy!

Can't you get Deoxys legitimately in r/s?
@@strawzulusansundertalehorr7624 Yes and no. You can get it via trading with FireRed, LeafGreen, or Emerald, but other than that, no. Although, Deoxys *can* be hacked in via save editing to *technically* be legitimate, as long as it's correctly hacked in (correct encounter data, moves, OT's TID/SID, and the IVs associated with said OT's TID/SID with it's PID, etc.)

I absolutely love how you used the flash storage itself to store parts of the payload. Reminds me of how some of the GB game ACE exploits work by corrupting Hall of Fame data or certain box storage to write reusable ACE codes.
When you started to say "I am going to skip all the talk about coding" I got a little sad. That is my favorite part of these videos. Seeing you take ruby and sapphire and do the 'impossible' is so cool, and it's all legit as a bonus.
Your implementation of the Mew Truck is actually fantastic LOL, super cool.

It's funny that you go to the Vermillion docks in your event, because in the original FR/LG there's a Lava Cookie in those docks as a hidden item.

Without spoiling things in the comments - and if you're reading this comment and haven't finished the video, DO SO! - does the event you made with the Pokemon under the big mechanical object pass legality checks up to Home if it's caught as a shiny? What region does it show up as? It would be really great if I could shiny hunt that particular Pokemon and not have to rely on getting it in Go...!
It passes all checks, but it only shows up as English(which passes thru bank and home no issue)

you got me with the sike, i was sad for no programming explanation lol blissey im not a particularly tech literate person but I love these event videos and the creativity and work you put into them, you’re explanations are clear enough for me to “sorta” understand what the byte codes are doing haha makes 11 year old me from 2005 so excited hahaha also love the “how long to team build series”

It's neat that the starters are from Emerald, though when I first saw this, I thought they'd be the starters from XD Gale of Darkness, as they have Frenzy Plant/Blast Burn/Hydro Cannon. But regardless you've put in so much work into this and it's amazing you've been able to implement custom maps and sprites! Can't wait for more to come, esp the legendary birbs~! :)

Deoxys event is so unreasonably cool. As a kid I was obsessed with deoxys. I only had Leafgreen and Silver and had of course, missed all of the events to get it. I would read or watch anything online that gave me a sliver of hope in acquiring it, and eventually came across that moon rumor. I wound up getting sapphire a couple years later and was incredibly disappointed when it wasnt real.

17:58 Would it be possible to require moving the truck with HM strength? I always had in mind as a kid playing leafgreen you have to move the truck and Mew will appear then. I even tried trading a pokemon with strength/surf to my catridge before the ss anne sets its sails and the area is unreachable, just to be disappointed that there is actually is no Mew :(
I dont know if the truck is an npc or just solid tiles on the map, but I think it would add a little :)
I never hearrd strength was needed so I didn't include it

I don't think the moon rumor really took off in my sphere when RSE were big, but I think I may have heard of it at some point regardless. Seeing it realized into its own event really is something, I bet it's what a bunch of people would have imagined. I'm really excited to see what else you have up your sleeve for us!

@7:45 I think you can save a few instructions by using the increment after variants of the load instructions, and by subtracting 1 of r7 and checking if it's 0 instead of counting up from r1, since subtracting already sets the flags you wouldn't need to cmp. same idea for the bigger loop.

I don't really have a good way to access these events (yet), but I did want to say how awesome it is to have new content in some of my favorite Pokemon games. One of the coolest parts is how you've made them fully legal to transfer, which might seem like a smaller thing to some people but I really appreciate it.

ok can I just say for the deoxys event, the boulder should start on top of that little bit that has stairs (where the moon stone is currently, but 1 tile backwards) -- and the moon stone should be on the ground where the boulder starts. It makes the boulder seem more important by having it at that elevated position, and having that empty space behind the moon stone blocking the top of the stairs seems a bit 'clunky'.
The Mew event is literally just missing the Lava Cookie. Otherwise it's PERFECT

I’ve never owned all any eReader stuff, and the Celebi event alone was enough to get me to at least consider it. I think Deoxys and Mew huntable in Sapphire did it for me.

This really makes me wanna complete my projects to make pokemon pvp systems
I wanted to build a double gameboy with charge port plug in controllers and TV connect ability hinged at the side so me and my brother could play side by side or face to face on the small screen or big screen
And lights that change color when you play gen 1 and go to a town the color matches
So purple for lavender town and yellow for vermillion
And other accessories for sound
Cartridges with battery mods for cloud storage
So a yellow for cloud 1
Crystal cloud 2
Emerald cloud 3
And the ability to trade from 1 and 2 up to 3
Would keep the fun going for a long time especially if your able to trade pokemon from dlc
And use your pokemon in colosseum or xd
I love this so much please consider a dlc thats centered around the different versions coming together to get exclusive mons and consider armored mewtwo like from the anime but with his giant spoon and make it the boss 😂
If you can add custom sprites to the game would you be able to add one for a shadow Lugia? (Obviously it would be more work since you can’t cut and paste!), or would, due to the way the game saves this data, you not be able to keep a Shadow Lugia permanently even if there was an event added?
12:01 i KNEW Nintendo was lying. I remember a proof of concept project proving it possible a few years back, and from what I understand, transferring pokemon from gens 1,2, and 3 with HOME support is currently fully possible and working with simply using the roms for any of those pokemon games in a walled garden (as to not report back to Nintendo.) it was proven almost as soon as the gba emulator hit switch online, using ROM files Nintendo themselves were using in testing. The files were bundled in a testing leak. Even the GameBoyPak usage, with using your pokemon in Pokemon Stadium 1&2 works in the Switch Walled garden experiment. It was almost too easy, like it was fully made with all of that support in mind. Now that Perfect Dark is out for N64, I wonder if they might use the GB Perfect Dark and a testing ground for a public launch on the GBPak compatibility.
Nintendo and The Pokemon Company hate us as consumers. I'm honestly less interested every day in ever giving them any money ever again.
There are decades of games, romhacks, and translations for me to catch up on. I see no reason to keep supporting a company that treats us like dumb children for profit.
