@@ryukan250lol chill my guy, they’ve had many of the bests on there at this point and done countless videos on the bests. No need to whine about smaller drummers getting a time to shine, no one would ever have expected to see evanescences drummer play and have a good time watching them.
Baard makes every note, every hit matter, without being excessive or overly elaborate - something incredibly difficult to achieve on the drums. Whether you’re just listening or watching him play, he makes you anticipate those sudden moments where everything in the rhythm seems to collapse, as if he’s trying to take your breath away. Simple yet intense playing, cerebral and meticulous. Exactly what a band needs from a drummer to remain one of the most captivating bands I’ve ever heard.
Well put. It's this that makes Slave so captivating to me. They could have easily played at the start of each bar during the chorus, but every 2nd bar comes in on the 2nd 16th note which is SO much more interesting. I know it isn't just Baard doing that in that song, but playing with the listener's expectation of rhythm is essentially demanding that you pay attention to it. Baard is also really good at using empty space between notes, a very less is more approach. If the drums are more sparse, it means the notes he does play feel much more impactful.
There are so many dope AF parts of this. I didn't consciously appreciate all of the drum intricacies until this video, but my brain sure knew the drumming was amazing. The little things matter so much.
I just saw them is Sydney last week. Baard was amazing as they all were. Don't understand how they are not one of the biggest metal bands. Melody, riffs, synths, syncopated riffage, heavy as hell with light and darkness and Einar's vocals on top.
What a beast. Even this somewhat slow song ends up intense, technical and captivating, thanks to Baard's tasteful, intense and powerful drumming. One of, if not my favorite drummer right now. So musical. One of my favorite performances of his is on the Creature album Eloge de L'Ombre, incredibly creative and powerful.
True talent and suburb skill! Amazing accents and fantastic flourishes! Seeing him play this adds a new dimension to the song. Great looking kit as well 👌
baard, your parts, your style and your passion that you have for drumming is partially why I myself play and aim to achieve more goals thank you for you playthroughs, buddy, for having them free of charge and for reminding me every god damn time why I want to be a better drummer
Saw Leprous in Sydney at the Hordon Pavillion earlier this month for Monolith fest. These guys were EASILY the best performance of the night, in literally every way and form. Mind blowingly good!
Watching Baard in action proves that AI drum machines are missing the point: It's a heroic battle between the human body and the drumset. And Baard is the victor here.
Thanks for another fabulous playthrough. PLEASE!!: youtube offers the option to have several choosable audiotracks for a video. Ability of "just drums" and "drums with music" would sooooo nice to have
Insane drumming to the best song of the album (not many good ones though on this one, unfortunately!). And to the point live, had a pleasure seeing the band again and they're just out of this world in terms of their skills.
@@ScreamingInSong sure thing man, whatever you like, i won't argue about this! Glad you like this album more than I. For me there are only 3 - "Silently walking alone", "Atonement" and "Like a sunken ship", amazing songs. "Faceless" however is terrible, I'm sorry, this 'never go alone, never go alone' is unstandable ;) It's not lack of heaviness that I miss, having in mind that "Pitfalls" is their best in my ranking.
That's actually a huge compliment. Those who know how to appreciate drumming realize that Lars hits harder than almost anyone, and that his parts are actually incredibly memorable and efficient, perfectly serving the song and increasing its impact. I just love Baard's drumming, and I thind your compliment kind of holds up. If you like metal, have you heard his work with Creature? Eloge De L' Ombre album. I feel that it is less known than his work with Leprous, but insanely creative, entertaining, technical and powerful nevertheless.
@Drumeo, please invite this guy
100%
Yes
Drumeo, please beg this guy lol
Drumeo is too busy reminiscing over "iconic" drum parts from bands like Evanescence, Imagine Dragons and Breaking Benjamin

Baard's a fucking magician. Honestly one of the most interesting drummers around today
watch the pinkies lol

“Simple”…?
Not difficult enough, he's wearing a shirt.
🙈🤣
.. He used to wear a turtle neck so, it's getting harder 😜
😂😂😂😂 #truestory
Baard's powerful finesse is unmatched. What a legend.
Revenge of the awkward china placement
I’ve never heard a better mix in any playthrough video, nor any album for that matter. Astonishing!
Massive sound yes. Matches the drumming.
Humans have no business playing the drums at this level.
Baard is a cyborg.
Just unbelievable.

The hihat and snare work is so tight and sounds incredible!
@@ryanmourant8814 yeah, rarely have I seen the hihat being shown so much love as in this performance.
@@ryanmourant8814 that hihat needs 10 mins of rest everytime after this song because bro got absolutely a b u s e d (in the best possible sense lol)
feels like watching the kiddo Baard from Norway streets in the old days. such a talent.
Seen his norwegian got talents preformans? 😊

Baard is such an intense player that I don't know how he manages to survive playing an entire concert.
The first time I saw Leprous live he played two sets because one of the support bands was Rendezvous Point... and he did that for a whole tour! 🫠
He’s jacked 😂
healty lifestyle hehe
Every note is meant to be! With absolute convicition and without any shadow of a doubt! Legendary! ❤️🔥
More Baard playthroughs, please!
Obsessed with Leprous drum parts since seeing them live, they are too much fun
This guy is absolutely ridiculous. Love him so much.
Baard is the future of drumming. And goddamn, drumming has a bright future!
What an absolut monster. We need this for every song in the album.
Those drums sound better than ever, and Baard playthroughs have always had nice sounding drums (Bonneville comes to mind)
Final crash was amazing 😂👏👏👏
sponsored by zidane, i mean zildjian
Truly unmatched combo of technical ability and perfect application of whats best for the song. Baards signature I feel 🦍
Absolutely unique drummer, Baard is a legend.
Monster!
He hits those drums with such power, yet with so much finesse and precision! Unmatched!

I went to the Brisbane show a few weeks ago just to see Baard play. I left when they finished their set hahah
Same, would be crazy not to go see Leprous whilst in Australia, even at a festival. The band is insanely good live.
One of a kind.. The music is already so cool.. He just lifts it to a level you don't always expect.
You and Carter Beauford are like an orchestra, not just a drum set! Great!
Baard is a God... Can you imagine when he'll be old as Gavin Harrison or Carey... This kid is a drum God
True talent and suburb skill! Amazing accents and fantastic flourishes!
Seeing him play this adds a new dimension to the song.
Great looking kit as well 👌
I love this version of the mix, you can actually hear what he is playing!

Truly one of the best drummers around right now!
His drum parts and playing are always so... inspired and creative. Man's got an endless supply of ideas.
WHAT! I'm in awe! Mind-blowing! Just one of the best drum performances ever, in the history of mankind or whatever! LOL
Baard is incredible, remember talking to him on São Paulo's show last year, awesome people, all of them.

NICE! Do Starlight next plz!!!!
Stay tuned 🤓
This video is about to pop off
I thought he was going to sing "Scottie Doesn't Know!"...he killed it BTW 👌👌
Absolutely insane talent and skill. He looks like a robot with those precise movements!
Only a madman could come up with a drum groove like that
Браво!!! Невероятно!!!
Really good playing! He has a style of his own.
Most classy drum playthrough I’ve ever seen
Wooooowwww that was awesome!!!!! What did I just witness????
So pumped to see this on tour in Jan!
FLAWLESS VICTORY!
I just knew that it was more technical than it sounds on the track. King baard
Wow what a powerful song 😮
Maestro! 🔥
The snare sound is just bonkers 🤯🤯
Love his playing so much. What creativity and pocket! Forum gig Jan 31st… can’t wait 👍🏼

Incroyable Baard merci !

🔥Cardano🔥
Magnificent.
Bravo!
Dude is insane. Wow. So if your not to busy making these beautiful drum lines. Try out for primus . What a fit you'd be
Even though modt of the song is in 4, the fact that he CAN MAKE 4/4 SO F**KING AMAZING is real magic.
Wow.
Nice! 🔥
Grandissimo!!!👍👍👍👍👍

Nuclear take man. Faceless is amazing. My Specter is really good. So is Unfree My Soul. Just because it isn't heavy doesn't mean its bad.

He's Lars Ulrich in a different universe where he can keep a beat and do creative fills at the same time.

Good Lord! 😭💯💥
Is that James McAvoy from SPLIT on Drums?
Great, GREAT drumming as ALWAYS!
G.O.A.T.
oh i can NAIL the part between 1:42 and 2:02
This guy needs a side gig in a math metal band. Or a main gig.
