Dr. Beckett was one of my favourite characters in the Stargate universe. As much as I adored his performance in the role, there is one member of the crew for whom I have even more admiration: the show's Property Master, Ken Gibbs. My son was a guest on the set the day they filmed their final episode, and when my son was given a tour of the costume and prop department, Mr. Gibbs indulged his inner geek by engaging in a mock sword fight with my son using Ronan's short swords. Everyone among the cast and crew from Joseph Mallozzi to the most junior PA made my son feel so welcome and was so forthcoming with information and facts about the show. One of the best parts of his experiences on set that day was when the show's Publicist, Bridgette Prochaska, joined my son in front of the SGC gate set for a photo taken by the show's still photographer. I have never seen anyone upload an interview with Kenny Gibbs. If you ever produce another interview video, maybe you could include Kenny among the guests? We all love the cast, but there were really incredible characters among the crew too!
I am a big fan of Stargate! I love the dynamics between the actors of the first 2 series. For me, Stargate Universe lacked any dynamics that would hooked me up. I was so surprised and glad when they brought back Carson Becket! Looking forward to seeing
i enjoyed SGU's backstory more than the story of the present, but this was mostly due to the constant drama conflicts that just kept happening. i liked the survival aspect but there was too much conflict between characters that only reduced when the series noticed their poor ratings because of it all.
Thye shouldnt have killed him off in the first place, Stargate has a real grudge against doctors, first Dr Janet Fraiser in Stargate SG-1, then Carson in Atlantis. I just wish the producers would leave the characters alone, and let the fans enjoy them.
I always felt like Carson was the moral stronghold of the Atlantis team. Pretty much all members of the team were very good and brave humans, but when the scenarios were pushed to the extreme, everyone’s bent except for Carson’s moral compass. He was the moral fail safe mechanism or the moral North Pole of the team.
Hi David, I know I'm late in posting but just saw this f or the first time. I loved it. Each Cast member I've watched you interview is relaxed and open and happy to speak with you. Clone Beckett was better than original Beckett because of how the complications, that derive from his existence being brought about in one of Michael's laboratories, affects his story line. It is a shame that there were not enough episodes to explore those complications after his return to the series at the end of season 4 of SGA.

Great interview! This may have already been answered but the first trivia question the correct answer is Friday the 13th (Jason Vorhees). After John tells the story to the kids he says something to the effect that the next story will be Nightmare on Elm Street. Stepping a few back, for me I re-watch Star Gate (and most of the series of Star Trek) and just rotate them is because they (the series and episodes I watch) are funny, they make you think and discuss a topic, and they are clean. Unfortunately, television displays such intense violence or late night Cinemax with "adult content." (the second I consider to be lazy on the part of the ones who wanted that integrated into the show). Stargate didn't have really have that (yes I'm aware of the incident with Sha're in the first episode of SG1 that Showtime forced in). In contrast, newer productions lack the quality of what Brad Wright and company brought out, and this is what keeps bringing me back.
The answer you thought was wrong was actually correct, as he starts telling the story to the kids about the hockey mask and stuff but then gets interrupted and then he tells them tomorrow night he will tell them the story of "Nightmare on Elm street"

@@IanMcGarr correct, I wasn’t saying Halloween as in the movie, but the holiday. I don’t know why. It was late at night when I watched this the first time. Jason from Friday the 13th, is the scary story he tells them.
I hadn't known his real accent was Canadian instead of Scottish, or that he's Scots-Canadian. This is great, it explains why. -- I'm very glad they went with Scottish rather than British English for Dr. Beckett, and Czech rather than Russian for David Nykl. British and Russian are fine, but Scottish and Czech are a little less common choices for US/Canadian-run story characters.
I'm doing a Stargate rewatch. So I can answer about the campfire ghost stories Sheppard tells the Athenian kids. He tells them the Jason in the hockey mask / Halloween story, then he says tomorrow night he'll tell them another, and it's about Freddy Krueger and the Nightmare on Elm Street. The audience knows from the references, and one or both titles are remarked by other Earth characters hearing Sheppard.
34:38 --> I think John is talking about Friday the 13:th, but when it breaks up because its time for bed, he mentions he might tell them about elm street next time (nightmare on~ or Terror on ~ i dont remember) :)
I think that Stargate has got a grudge with the medical proffession, unlike Star Trek, which treats its doctors very well. The reason behind killng off Dr Fraiser in Stargate SG-1, supposed to be that they thought season seven was going to be the final season, but then what was the reason for killing off Beckett?
When they canceled Star Gate Atlantis and replaced it with wrestling I cut the cord. It was the one show I did watch. I knew it was coming I knew it was going to end when they killed off Dr. Beckett and Dr. Weir. Some shows were Great some OK and other's not so much. Weir, Shepard, McKay and Beckett to me was the core cast. Maj. Lorne was really good and should have had more parts. Don't remember the name of the runner with the little girl but he was really good. Should have had more of him. Todd and Michael were really good. Todd was kick ass great as a wraith. Would have liked to have seen Michael as a human not wraith. We all loved to hate Kavanagh. I thought it would have been great had the wraith captured him. And turned him into a wraith. He could have made a really good / Bad guy. Some of the cast I did not care for, but all in all this was a Great Show.
I think that there was more scope for character development in Atlantis compared to SG-1. In SG-1, its like, the clue is in the title, so the main focus was always going to be on Jack, Sam, Daniel and Teal'c, characters such as Dr Janet Fraiser were very popular, but had very little screen time and not much character development.
i liked the story in the background of SGU, some of the story played in the present i liked. but i liked discovering more about the ancient alteran and their history and destiny's mission.
Universe is actually pretty good once you get over expecting it to be Stargate ie the humor that made most of us love SGA/1. Shanks totally understands that alas Maziotta (?sp) in an interview a few months ago didn’t seem to.
if he comes back as Becket, then he comes back as an ascended being because Oma was released from her eternal struggle of Anubis so the others could take care of him, and so she helped other ppl ascend in Pegasus. something like this....it could be better written tbh. but i would love for there to be more ascended being stories, maybe even show what was going on during the events of seasons 9 and 10 of sg1 but from the perspective story line of the ascended beings. something that opens up the storytelling for the ascended. because the show never really showed the audience much on these ppl, other than their callous cold behaviors that we saw in the show. Oma was known for getting in trouble for ascending the ppl in the lower plains, but even with that fact she was still allowed to do so after the fact with Daniel then on abydos with the entire population. so even though that was a law she was supposed to follow, she still chose to ascend these ppl none the less. and the others didn't stop her, so it all goes without saying there was some kind of untold storyline among those of the ascended.
Yeah, and the ascended ones are basically having a peaceful war about if they should help others ascend and stuff so again that opens up a lot more storyline potential which I would love to see the writers run with..
@@matthewhall7976 i came to a weird conclusion a while ago of the ascended, i know Oma's punishment was her eternal battle with Anubis, or she at least had to baby sit him within the ascended realm before the eternal combat with him. but she had the power and ability to descend ppl as well, she did it to Daniel twice. the first time she partially wiped his memory and the second time he knew Oma ascended him but she only ascended him to descend him again. suffice to say, she could easily do the same to Anubis and i know she could easily put him in an situation where he was not only going to die anyway, but wipe all his memory just incase. no longer needing to be in eternal battle with Oma. and the same thing with Adria.
@@ladrok97 Daniel was to focused on defending abydos when Anubis decided to go back on his promise, it's likely that Oma Ascended the ppl of Abydos as Daniel was currently being held back due to the others or Oma stopping him and holding him back
Listening to this made me wonder why they came up with 2 designs for Earth's ships, X-303 and BC-304. What was wrong with the first design, artistically-wise that made them want to introduce a new design? Was there a practical reason behind it?

The question asked what was the story Sheppard promised he was *going* to tell them. He had BEEN telling the story of Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th Franchise). Myers wears a mask but it is not a hockey mask.
It would be awesome, every time the life size wraith came into view, it slowly moved. So every time we see it, wraith gets closer and closer behind David. If someone was there to move it, as a prank

I actually liked all the different iterations of the series' they all add to separate parts of the same story/universe and even if odd things don't add up perfectly I tend to see it as different versions of historical accuracy because they're from separate perspectives.. I know it's not like this but for example SG1 is more from the earth human and jaffa history teachings of what happened and stuff and Atlantis is more from the perspectives of ronan and teylas' peoples and slighy from other perspectives/standpoints like the lucien or wraith or also the replicators at one point.. So preferences for which is more enjoyable is down to the individual and none are incorrect just different ways of viewing the same reality.. Now if we could just get a series based solely on the mindset and teaching of the wraith or system Lords without the meddling of the pesky humans..lol

34:38 --> I think John is talking about Friday the 13:th, but when it breaks up because its time for bed, he mentions he might tell them about elm street next time (nightmare on~ or Terror on ~ i dont remember) :)
I can say that we all love the Stargate Scotty! Wait why are the deaths in Stargate medical professionals??? Lol
solders die all the time and nobody bats an eye. a doctor dies and everyone sad.
From a pure enjoyment perspective I prefer Atlantis. From a pure conceptual interest perspective I like Universe the best after one full rewatching.
i liked the story in the background of SGU, some of the story played in the present i liked. but i liked discovering more about the ancient alteran and their history and destiny's mission.
Universe is actually pretty good once you get over expecting it to be Stargate ie the humor that made most of us love SGA/1. Shanks totally understands that alas Maziotta (?sp) in an interview a few months ago didn’t seem to.
His funeral on Atlantis was so sad it was the first and last time my dog ever howled....
your dog howeld for the death? or some other reason?
@@5226-p1e at the funeral, right when the bag pipes started

ah now it makes sense.
Way too late but gotta say, hockey mask = Friday the 13th : Jason Voorhees.
Glad you've done this and am amazed at your knowledge of the shows.
What are Paul and Joe's favorite brand of Scotch?
Doctor Becket is getting older, they better continue the series before he dies a second time!
Scotch, single-malt, aged at least 12yrs. Always a good option.
Wish we had fall rain here in California; we could use it to put out all the fires.
if he comes back as Becket, then he comes back as an ascended being because Oma was released from her eternal struggle of Anubis so the others could take care of him, and so she helped other ppl ascend in Pegasus.
something like this....it could be better written tbh. but i would love for there to be more ascended being stories, maybe even show what was going on during the events of seasons 9 and 10 of sg1 but from the perspective story line of the ascended beings. something that opens up the storytelling for the ascended. because the show never really showed the audience much on these ppl, other than their callous cold behaviors that we saw in the show.
That's a brilliant idea and I not only think it'd work but would love to see how the writers would play that out..
Yeah, and the ascended ones are basically having a peaceful war about if they should help others ascend and stuff so again that opens up a lot more storyline potential which I would love to see the writers run with..

i came to a weird conclusion a while ago of the ascended, i know Oma's punishment was her eternal battle with Anubis, or she at least had to baby sit him within the ascended realm before the eternal combat with him.
but she had the power and ability to descend ppl as well, she did it to Daniel twice. the first time she partially wiped his memory and the second time he knew Oma ascended him but she only ascended him to descend him again.
suffice to say, she could easily do the same to Anubis and i know she could easily put him in an situation where he was not only going to die anyway, but wipe all his memory just incase. no longer needing to be in eternal battle with Oma. and the same thing with Adria.
@@5226-p1e I tought it was Daniel choice. Something that Oma suggested, but only Daniel could take this decision
@@ladrok97 Daniel was to focused on defending abydos when Anubis decided to go back on his promise, it's likely that Oma Ascended the ppl of Abydos as Daniel was currently being held back due to the others or Oma stopping him and holding him back
it was Friday the 13th where the villan wore a ski mask.
Listening to this made me wonder why they came up with 2 designs for Earth's ships, X-303 and BC-304. What was wrong with the first design, artistically-wise that made them want to introduce a new design? Was there a practical reason behind it?
Oh i want to talk to Paul and hang out! Just today i watched the episode "SPOILER" (if anybodey still new lol) where he died and i was crying even though i knew e comes abck as a clone haha. He is so cool!!
"Show us what you got!" Giant head.
The question asked what was the story Sheppard promised he was *going* to tell them. He had BEEN telling the story of Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th Franchise). Myers wears a mask but it is not a hockey mask.
Peachy Rodney :D
Scrooge McDuck had a scottish accent.
for the love of god share those pictures!
The story that John told the kids was Friday the 13th. But the one that he promised to tell them next was Nightmare on Elm street.
Do they have a "jewel" interview?
9:21 - Start of video
I was expecting an accent... I got Canadian. Hah.
It would be awesome, every time the life size wraith came into view, it slowly moved. So every time we see it, wraith gets closer and closer behind David.
If someone was there to move it, as a prank
34:00 the question is what story he PROMISES to tell not what story he does tell... 😁
Its almost funny how good I'd be at a
Jaffa-Rebel, cause I'm not stupid.
There's literally worlds like Cimeria, that kil Guaold
and Jaffa and/or even Free the Hosts;
and we know that A) Jaffa are totally used to activate
the Stargates for their Masters, and B) Rebelion before
Tealc's Betrayal was super-rare and therefore unexpected.
Do i have to spell this incredible Plot Hole out?! YES, you
can just be the One that Dials the Gate for a System Lord
and then make them go totally unknowingly into their Demise!
No kidding, gimme 10 Jaffa and i kill
at least 5, if not up to 10 System Lords!
No kidding!
This is a giant Plot Hole (though i dont wanna blame
them for not thinking this intensely about it all, but STILL:) Jaffa could
literally assasinate the oh-so-feared Overlord-Bosses incredibly Easy.
No kidding, you dont even have to sacrifice yourself - though i admit,
you may not be able to control of some other Jaffa and/or Human-Servants die! But
still! The Victory would be amazing and only multiply if coordinated with
other Jaffa on other worlds!!
Wraith hockey mask.
They always kill the doctor :)
Spoiler alert 26:10
Origins isn't cannon. It's an awful "show".
It is better than Infinity
*canon
Love your shows! But can you please stop talking about Covid for the first 10 minutes of your show??!!! Thanks
If the guests bring it up when I ask them how they are doing, I can't stop them. Thanks for watching!
Great show, I f'ing love Stargate, Carlson Beckett had the worst Scottish accent I've ever heard in my life, he cannot do accents!
That’s funny. I’m Canadian and I’m thinking hmm, he sounds a bit Scottish when he talks in his normal accent. I guess his Canadian accent is bad too 😉
I truly hated when Beckett died, the episode was good, but I still hate it.
Same here, and i feel the same way about the death of Janet Fraiser in Heroes, in SG1.
