OH Canada! West Cad is awesome. When I was there at this time last year, all I got to see was a few Texans, a Hawk and a A400 M. That's still pretty good for 2 days. Just after I left, RAF typhoons, and RAF f35s were cleared for LFA 7. I guess it just gives me a reason to come back another time! If you are going to the Tattoo I hope you enjoy it! I will definitely go eventually.
The powers that be are talking Tutor aircraft retirement for the Snowbirds after 60+ years on those airframes. With the CAF transitioning to the F-35 hopefully they will switch the Snowbirds over to using these old F-18’s. 1980’s airframes instead of 1961 vintage aircraft.
Even better is with the $5billion that Canada is cutting over the next 5 years one of the things the RCAF wanted to shelve was the Snowbirds. Instead vehicle maintenance and other outsourced contracts is what is getting cut. Oh but wait we are supposed to be getting more money for NATO as Justin said. He also said the indigenous would get clean water. That hasn't happened yet
I actually don't mind the trainer type aircraft for the snowbirds. Given that they're fully manual aircraft, the maneuvers they perform in them are even more impressive demonstrations of pilot skill, imho. Probably the best option would be to replace them with whichever aircraft is selected as the new Fast Jet Trainer (that will replace the CT-155).
@@nonenowherebye Having recently seen the Snowbirds, the RAF Red Arrows, and the US Navy Blue Angels all perform I agree that anything will be an improvement over the Tudors which are long overdue for the museum. Watching the Snowbirds you can tell how limited the aircraft are compared to modern contemporaries.

Oh and BTW, I live in Canada and know how the government treats the military especially the airforce where they refuse to spend money on getting rid of these 45+ year old dinosaurs and replacing them with modern equipment.
@@CarlosDavidFoto Yeah, I know. Trudeau reversed the decision only to spend 10+ years to go back to the same decision Harper had made in 2009 - 2010. The 80 are going to roll out very slowly. They are literally trying to extend the life of these antiquated dinosaurs to something like beyond 2030 when their airframes are past their shelf life.
Yay - one of three CF-18's still flying. The rest of the squadrons are hangar-queens and rolling parts-bins. Probably piloted by a not-really-Canadian from Quebec.
Odd how ignorant Canadians that would be hard-pressed to cite a noteworthy CAF battle newer than Vimy Ridge seem to actually enjoy trash-talking the CAF. Even today they went up to intercept a joint Chinese and Russian bomber flight that tested the Alaskan air control zone. Must have been the "other 2," right?

That is a gorgeous livery
Glad you guys over there got to catch Tango running the loop. Such a beautiful jet. 🇨🇦🇬🇧🤝
RCAF 100th Anniversary livery. ❤
That was a ripping pass, one of the fastest ive seen, Sexy F-18, great job CFB Cold Lake AETE division on the paint job!
AETE is basically shut down on base, the only place an aircraft can be painted is 1 AMS Refinishing Shop.
@@ABSilverback when did this happen??? That's sad
@@Bushmasterpilot Most of AETE moved to Ottawa a few years ago.
The government was talikng about moving them for 20 years then it finally happened.
