- [Orthodox Podcast] It is important to have a good relationship with the Virgin Mary. This relationship will come up at the time of the exit of our soul. The evil spirits will be kept away and the Virgin Mary will enlighten us to fight at that time, so that we might even earn a crown of a martyr.

Small Correction: It's not R-U-M, it's Rum (room). It is Turkish and Arabic for "Roman". So Rum Orthodox means Roman Orthodox. The word Byzantine is a modern, Western-coined word. The Byzantines called themselves Romans. The Turks and the Arabs call the Orthodox, Rum.

I deeply appreciate this but can you leave Metropolitan Neophytos' voice and just add the subtitles? The Metropolitan has a good voice.
It is hard for elderly & others with some illnesses to read moving text.
To listen to the voice of our beloved Met. Neophytos, please do a search for him. By doing so, you will be able to listen to him speak in video after video. He does have a beautiful voice.

But we are told “ask and you shall receive “…. Our Redeemer wants us to communicate with Him-don’t wait! You don’t want to be in front of Him at your judgment and He asks you why you didn’t love or trust Him enough to talk to Him, or The Father or The Holy Ghost!
With all due respect this sounds like false humility. Either way, Jesus loves all of us more than any human could ever imagine loving, so please pray to him!

The voiceover presents a contradiction, advising that the salutations to the Theotokos be read when someone dies but later it says they should be read while the soul is still in the body, and that the psalms should be read when the soul leaved the body. Can someone clarify.
When someone dies probably as the process of dying, not when the process is complete. When your soul is trying to leave the body it is technically speaking "dying"
We asked once our Saint Elder Iakovos [Tsalikis] of Evia, who was canonized recently officially by our Ecumenical Patriarchate: When a man “psychomachei” [is agonizing], as we say in Cyprus, and his soul exits his body, at the time of the exit of the soul, we, the relatives, the friends, the priests, what shall we do?
Do you know what he advised us? Read the Salutations to the Most Holy Theotokos. This is what he told us. As long as the soul is united with the body, we read the Salutations to the Theotokos. As soon as the soul is separated from the body and our person dies, that is his body dies, we start reading the Psalter.

God said ,"He is God of the Living, not the dead."
Those who rest in Christ are alive with Him.
The Virgin Mary said, that all generations will call me blessed.
If you beleive Jesus Christ is the Word of God, that He is the Son of God. If you believe he is Pure, Blameless, Holy, and that He is God incarnate.
Then if you recognize that the Tabernacle was Holy because the presence of God resided there. That Jerusalem is Holy because our Lotd and Savior lived there and gave His Holy body for the sins of the world.
Then we must really think....
If God is Holy and perfect and could choose anu way to come into this world. Why would he choose an unclean vessel to lie in and be birthed through.
Therr is no mingling of Holy with unHoly.
So if we say Jesus Christ is Holy.
Then we must also say the Virgin Mary is Holy. She is the Light bearer. She carried the wird of God in her womb. Through her is the fullfillment of the prophecies. Just like the word of God (10 Commandments) and the Ark of the Covenant was the place God dwelt in the Holy Tabernacle. The Virgin Mary is where the Word of Hod resided in the New Testament.
*The Flesh that our Lord and Savior took on was from the Virgin Mary. The same body/Flesh that was crucified for us.
His body was a blameless and sinless sacrifice for the whole world.
How could all of that be true if the flesh he wore , from yhe Virgin Mary was not santified, Holy, and Pure.
So she must be Holy, because He is.
Even if one can not beleive she was made Holy and Pure from the beginning. One can still inderstand that she would be santified and made Holy by the Divinity of God in her womb.
Just like we call the Ark Holy because the presense of God is there.

As a follower of Christ, I respect his mother that he loves and that is with him in heaven. God is great and can do anything. But what can a man or a woman do without God? Praying to St Mary or Any other Saint is the same. In heaven there is only one High Priest and is forever you can read the book of Hebrews. Ultimately we all bow down to the Lamb of God and our Savior. One ocacion when Jesus Christ was preaching and was told that his mother and sisters where outside looking for him what was our Lord answer?
What can a man or a woman do without God?

48 He replied to him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?”
49 Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers.
50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”
Mary did the will of The Father. Luke 1:38 says:
" “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her."
So according to Matthew 12:50, she must be a brother, sister or mother of Jesus. So Mary is the mother of Christ according to The Gospel.

BUT remember this: It was a HUGE testament of her faith to say yes to becoming pregnant while betrothed to St. Joseph as she could be stoned to death. Deuteronomy 22:21 says:
"If a man happens to meet in a town a virgin pledged to be married and he sleeps with her, you shall take both of them to the gate of that town and stone them to death"
Remember that the Pharisees wanted to stone the woman caught in adultery.
Love according to the gospel is sacrificial love. The Mother of God's willingness to die for Christ cannot be understated. The Archangel Gabriel understands this and hails her like a queen ("Hail, favored one!"). So we understand that Mary is at the level of the Archangel or even higher than that.

@@turnfrmsinorhell_jesus The passage tells us to only worship God. I don't know how that negates Mary being the All Holy Mother of God who's prayers are powerful and effective.

Show me one Verse proving this statement let along any Verse giving Mary any Reverance you cannot, you Follow Traditions of Men and not the Word of God.
The bible was created by the Orthodox Church at the time of the apostles. The first church instituted by the Holy apostles at the time 2000 years ago still remains today unchanged. The church existed before the bible. As for the teachings not found in the bible, the Orthodox have thousands of writings about the life of the Saints and the Virgin Mary that are not found in the bible. Did you know Christ's friend Lazarus who was raised after his death travelled to Cyprus, became a bishop and that Orthodox Church is still there today with his holy relics? This is not in the bible so are you also going to say its made up doctrines? Remember the church existed before the bible. That church is the Orthodox Church.
There is only one mediator that is the Christ Jesus.
So who mediated on behalf of Lot?
Orthodox only Worship God, Father, Son, Holy Spirit. They do not worship Mary or see her as a mediator to Christ. Mary is venerated, Mary is still alive because she lives for ever in the Kingdom and she is loved and ask of her to pray for us as we would ask one another to pray for each other. But Orthodox pray ONLY to GOD, not to the saints. The saints are alive because they live forever with Jesus, so we ask for them to pray for us also. We ONLY WORSHIP JESUS. Salvation is ONLY FROM JESUS. Do not be confused with what orthodox believe. Instead understand it before you misconstrue it

Why are you seeking help from Virgin Mary? Why are you believing in her? She is just a normal person as everyone else (of course she had a really important and blessed place at giving birth to Jesus) so she shouldn’t be believed, praised or prayed to. All she has done is by the grace of God. I am not attacking here, and I may have observed this mistakenly, but this is really what religion is about: making a god out of some person and putting too much value on the technical things. Only Jesus can save, not religion nor Virgin Mary.

You are correct, but that doesn't mean that The Theotokos (from whom Christ came into this world) isn't significant and that she, along with The Saints cannot pray for us, and that God in His providence may use them to enlighten & inspire.
Where does it say in Scripture that she doesn't or isn't allowed to help us? Where does it say that she doesn't guide us along the path to her Son? Where does it say that she can't help us from our physical dormition to the arms of our Lord and God?
Seems to me that You are making a lot of assumptions, none of which contradict the verse You quoted.
So would you say a doctor cannot protect you from disease, or a soldier from invasion, only God? Doesn't God protect us by using His servants and Mary above all who gave the perfect response "be it done unto me according to your will"?

Yes. We are saved ONLY with Jesus. We venerate Mary for who she is and she lives forever. But we do not believe that she saves us. We know that salvation comes only from the Lord. Do not misconstrue orthodox belief, instead understand it before you judge it
