  • Repair guide for the DSG7 with the P17BF Error. This repair is simple but takes quite some time.
    Can be done with simple tools and basic mechanics knowledge.
    The spare part is available to buy on eBay and it costs around 60$.

    Great work, you inspired me, so i changed myself the valve block this evening. Mine had a little crack, not visible with the naked eye, but lost pressure ( it rose till 13 bar only ). All good. PS: at the end i primed all the actuators by puling/pushing them a few times( all 6 actuators).

    Have you tried the Kinergo accumulator upgrade kit? Saves all the dismantling that you had to do here, and doesn't cost much more.

      Yes, tested the Kinergo and it is a good solution but it involves the same amount of dismantling + drilling some holes and if you are not SPOT on with drilling then you have a repair kit that is useless after (when using old Kinergo solution) . Just saw their new kit now , when you mentioned it :) even if I am on their newsletter they did not announced the new type of kit. Old one was a pain in the a$$ :) The new Kinergo Kit is also 3 x more expensive than the accumulator housing.

    Thanx a million for the video...!!
    I have a DQ200 on VW polo.
    Issue is flashing PRND error received via VCDS was P17BF & P189C.
    The Vehicle runs fine as in shifting etc....
    I removed the Mechatronic and followed your video 100%
    I did not find any crack on the valve body .... any idea ?

    Very good and informative video....much thanks....Would you say that most of the replacement accumulator housings available are produced in China?? if so is there anything to be careful of when purchasing one via ebay...

      ALL spare parts are produced in the same factory I believe ... but there are 1000 sellers of the same product. I would say you are safe to buy from any of them.

    Hi Gigi! So, you recomand that on mechatronic part should be filled with 1 l of pentosin chf 11s.but on the other part of the gearbox(mechanically) some video sugest for mentainance purpose 2l of oem vw g 052 512 a2 oil, which i know is full shyntetic . Do you recomand ravenol mtf-3 75w wich comes over the same oem nr g 052 512 a2? Or, which oil wins here?

    Thank you very much for this videos. your videos are so informative and very helpful. i am in the market for Vw automatic and while browsing the internet, a couple of people were (recommending) saying DSG dry clutch (is better) than dsg wet cltuch. if one is looking to buy a dsg, which one do you recommend. is the triptronic (torque converters) found in polo vivo also bad. i will also visit your website to learn more. Thanks a lot for sharing the skills.

      Whatever you buy , do NOT buy a DSG7 with Dry clutch , this DQ200 found on smaller VAG engines (1.4 , 1.6 ).

    Just a quick question, error codes P189C and P0841, is it the same repair as this video?
    Just got told its valve body issue (pressure leaking) but I'm not sure about that. Hope you know and can help.

    Hello, Gigi! I have a vw passat b7 model 2012, I experienced p17 bf, I bought the hydraulic plate from china, I followed steps from your tutorial, I adapted with a universal tester clone delphi ds 150e, it worked perfectly 2 days and about 50km, it started to jerk when changing lever shifter from parking in reverse and from neutral in drive, I also noticed at stops when a slight jerk appears d1 on the display but not at all stops, what do you advise me to do or fix? (The mechatronic came off the box a bit hard, but it was easy to mount, it lost about 2
    -300ml oil in a 75w brown box that I didn't put back, I recovered 1 liter from mechatronics, but I got 1 l of new green oil vw)

    I have a question. How can i reduce pressure in the accumulator? Is there any chance while unscrewing to explore?

      Pressure in the accumulator can be reduced by software only.

      @@AndreasGiannakakis Has your accumulator CRACKED or why are you afraid of pressure ? If the Accumulator itself is cracked then the pressure would have been long gone trough the pressure relief valve.

      GigiBelea aka JAX no I have the p17bf error and I ordered the Kinergo repair kit to replace the accumulator..the question is for safety purpose...the accumulator isn’t blown..I only have this error of leaking pressure and hydraulic oil spilled out of the breather

    we have oil leak problem from the breathing hole. When we stop engine some green oils get out from breathing hole
    Can you help us What do you recommend to solve this problem? we have no problem for gear shifting

      Repair the accumulator with the kit from Kinergo. Known problem when oil accumulator is starting to crack.

    Hello. I have checked in the diagnosis my car (Polo DSG7) delivering the same error code P17BF, but Volkswagen says its not the acumulator but the hydraulic pump. They ask me to change the whole mechatronic but i guess its possible to change only the pump. Can you help me? Thanks in advance

      VW will tell you anything to take your money :) Of course is possible only to change the pump. Just buy a defective unit and swap the pump if you think is only pump, but my money is on the accumulator.

      On some units that are just starting to crack you can not see it, it is very very thin the crack.

    screws are at least 28 NM force, but mine was already open at service and i think they over force all screws, 3 of them come out very hard and 2 where already unscrew 2 - 3 cm outside it's house.

    Buna ziua! Am si eu DSG 7 trepte pe un Audi A3 1.4 TFSI. Cand e aglomerat in oras si merg bara la bara masina incepe sa tremure la plecare (asta dupa frana-acceleratie-frana-acceleratie si tot asa). De exemplu cand plec de la semafor iarasi tremura la plecare dar dupa nu mai am nicio problema. Am vorbit cu altii si au zis ca trebuie schimbat uleiul in cutie neaparat, desi in cartea masinii scrie ca nu se schimba niciodata la modelul cu 7 trepte. Bun, am zis sa ma interesez ca sa schimb uleiul. Cativa mecanici erau pe aproape sa-mi si comande vreo 7-8 litri precum cred ei ca la DSG se schimba, insa, dupa un mic search pe internet am aflat ca la cutia mea incap doar 1.7 litri de ulei si acela este de cutie manuala, nicidecum de cutie automata, pentru ca e cutia cu ambreiajele uscate. Si acum vine intrebarea mea: daca incerc totusi sa schimb uleiul (cei 1.7 litri) sunt sanse sa scap de tremurat la plecare dupa ce cutia se incinge? Repet, cand nu e trafic si nu trebuie sa opresc masina de 1000 de ori si sa plec iarasi nu am nicio problema, cutia merge perfect. As fi foarte recunoscator sa imi spuneti si mie o parere. Multumesc!!

    Very insightful! Would you recommend the dq200 in 2021?Do you know if vw has fixed the problems you are describing? If someone plans to keep a vw car polo for instance with dq200 gearbox for more than ten years would you recommend it? Any piece of advice would be appreciated.

      No, I would not recommend DQ200 , sorry. VAG has reworked the valve body but we have seen even newer 0CW units blowing :( .... so still not recommended. Buy new with extended warranty and then sell before goes out of warranty.

    When reassembling this unit, what is the recommended torque setting for accumulator housing screws and solenoids valves...?

      I could not find any torque specs for this anywhere, so use your common sense and feel. When unbolting it , you should kinda feel the force needed.

      Pentosin chf oil, 1L. You have a drain screw under the mechatronic and you can fill from the breather hole on the top.

    Hi does anyone know the cause for dtc P073F00 , P074B00 unable to select gear1, gear 2 and P278400 input turbo speed sensor A/B correlation. Is this a mechatronic fault or tcm. Thanks

      Did it perform basic settings properly ? Problem could be a bent shift fork inside the gearbox.

    Hello. I have a problem with my dq200 in that the clutch is always engaged it seems. So I can’t start the even if I put it in neutral or park. I can start the car with the wheels off of the ground but even in neutral the wheels turn. I did have low pressure fault code but that seems to have gone away with a top up. Does this sound like mechatronics failure or something else?

      Yes, seems to be mechatronic and the car is blocked in 1st gear maybe ? Or maybe your forks inside the gearbox are bent. Can not diagnose this from distance.

      Unable to Engage Gear 3 -or- Synchronization Gear 3 aborted
      P189C/006300 - Function Restriction Due To Insufficient Pressure Build-up. (it seemed that topping up the oil fixed this code)
