Hey Gigi, what an amazing job you've done buddy! Definitely the best DSG repair instruction available online - massive credit to yourself. I've got a problem with N91 solenoid. In VCDS it says: "17150 - Shift Solenoid 4 (N91) P0766 - 000 - Open or Short to Ground - Intermittent". Do you think that the connection is loose somewhere or the solenoid N91 is faulty internally? Gearbox is poping out the code after getting warm, but I haven't changed oil in it yet. I've got spare solenoid N91 to hand and dunno if to change it straight away whilst the gearbox is out, or to change oil + filter and see if it won't fix the problem... Much appreciate your help man...
Hi! there is some oil inside connector and its leaking only from there from this litlle hole where pins are. No errors and dsg works good. I noticed it when i was changing cluch. we cleaned it and i checked it after driving over ~ 500 km, oil was there... so there is oil inside mechatronic controler or its just came from this little hole behind socket inside mechatronic ?
@@gerzos4256 unsealed controller dsg. Its a time to get error. I solved the problem by selling the car and bought it without dsg, manual ftw No problem 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
Hi Gigi, thanks for the video... I checked my DSG DQ-250 mechatronics and all solenoids resistance checks out ok. Where else can I look? Fault code was Mechanical Disengagement - Car wouldn't go further then 3rd gear then 3rd disappears and car rolls. Please let me know....

bought a used one off ebay for 90.00 to practice and that went very well so I cut mine open today1 wire off and several loose inside question is how do you clean the potting compound off the connection?also I used shrink wrap to cover every thing and then cut a hole in the area of the cover that worked great!
Hi, I have an issue with my DSG DQ250 09D where the takeoff from stand still is very aggressive and jerky, it’s like someone dropping the clutch on a manual transmission. The problem exists only on first gear and reverse, it basically jumps if you release the brake fast. From what I have read so far online these are the common symptoms of faulty N215/N216 solenoid valves. Is there any way I can check them through VCDS or some program before removing the mechatronic unit just to be sure, there are NO fault codes shown.
It is not unusual for some oil to come in, happens from time to time. Units can drive with oil inside the PCB for months / years. I answered you by mail regarding sealing.

Alright. Since you repair these. Could you answer a question I have about my dq250. It's stutters when shifting during full throttle. 3-4 4-5. And jitters in second while slowing down. Shifts fine under light throttle. It has a pressure error code.
Have you ever figured out what makes these malfunction when they get hot? My unit has been throwing the same solenoid stuck on code even after that particular solenoid was replaced, but only when it's hot. Do you think you could be the spring connector tabs losing contact because of the heat? Also, is there a way to use the pin connector to diagnose these faults inside the box? If there was some sort of map to show the proper resistance between each pin and a point on the plastic cover with the connector tabs, it might be easier to determine where the fault is.
What kind of fault the mechatronic has to have in order for you to drill open the back cover ? What sort of fault code could it be ? Or if it can not be detected via vcds, how it demonstrates ?
Sent you an email about my 2010 VW Passat wagon and it slamming into 1st on take off and slipping until my ck eng light comes on. Are the N215 & N216 solenoids the ones you measured 4.7& 4.8ohms? Also, you don't recommend applying voltage to the solenoids to heat them up a little....just to get them working dynamically? Just so you can make sure one of the solenoids doesn't fail under higher temperature or dynamic situations? Just out of curiosity, where are you located? Thank you for the video. Hi Gigi, thank for your videos. It's really helpful. I have a problem with my mechatronic of JPZ gear box from VW Golf V R32. The problem comes suddenly and the gear box fell in to failure mode and only the first gear (front) worked. Using VCDS we found the error code 18232 P1824 that reference to the N217 solenoid short circuit and 18154 P1746 - supply currency of the solenoids, no other errors found. We tested the valves and all they give the good resistance. Then we cutted off the PCB cap and found a lot of oil inside.. Could it be the reason of gear box failure? Could you please advice how should I correctly clean the PCB and glue the cap back? By the way as I can see the small cupper tube connect the PCB with the big round plug but not the pinhole that you mentioned in your video, am I correct or not?
Hi Jax, I checked the resistance of my solenoids and got the same readings as all of your good solenoids. Does this mean they are ok, or are there other checks I can do on the solenoids before diving any deeper and cutting the cover off? This video was brilliant by the way.
Hi Gigi I have a problem with my dsg 250. When selecting reverse there is a delay and that causes flashing transmission light on dash. Also there is a loss of reverse. Sometimes it does click into reverse but there is a noticeable delay. Could this be mechatronic related? Or mechanical? Any help would be appreciated Thanks

Common fault identified as DSG repair kit required what are my options?
Not sure what you mean ? The electrical plate on the DSG 7 is held in place by some simple screws, more easy to dismantle. If you take it apart watch out for the gaskets.

I have a transmission that only has damage to the round connector plug housing, as well and two pins which have broken off. The plastic part you show here is a one piece unit glued to the metal part. So my question is, how can I repair/replace this part
That part you can not replace or swap. It is thermal "welded" onto the aluminum body. The underside of the PCB is also thermal welded / glued to the body. You can try to solder new pins on the connector and pray it will hold, else time for another unit.

thanks for your video. awaiting for the part II i think my dsg mechatronic also has a problem. no fault codes can be found in the transmission and engine control unit. cold start the car everything are fine. after warmed up and ran about 45 min. transmission always not smooth when change to lower gear. usually it happened when the car nearly stop at the traffic light. i had changed a set of second hand solenoids. ( my old set the value of ohms is too large ) but the problems still remain unchanged. do you have any idea what is the problem? many many thanks Terry
Fyi, After changed the solenoids, i did basic setting by diagnostics equipment. Also, found the ignition coil and spark plug conditions not good. So changed it. The throttle body cleaned and reset by diagnostics equipment.
hello gigi i need some help from you. is about a passat 2009 dsg dq 250. the car comes with an error about clutch monitoring an client want to perform basic settings. when i try to do basic settings odis tell me the coding is incorect and ask me if i want to perform corect coding. i performed coding ad after performed basic settings. when finish the basic settings the car run in reverse 4 second and in d mode only gear 1 and 2. for 4 seconds and error p1815 pressure control valve 1 open or short to+intermitent i replace the clutch and the problem persist i replace the n215 an same problem. i ceck the valves with multimeter ok i ceck the connectors plate to tcu with multimeter ok. i don t understand. please give me some advice thank you. i will pay if necesary

Maybe the transistor for the valves is burned or weak. This means maybe the valves do not open / close correctly. If this is a newer unit , I would change the N215 / N216.

Can i test the n215/216 while mechatronic is still installed in the transmission? Im guessing to maybe unplug the main mechatronic plug and then test OHM .

Car is still driveable. I performed a dsg reset and got some violent downshifts into 1st gear and also from N to D and N to R . I drove for 10 mins and it went away. Car drives normal only studdering and jumping 1st gear and reverse
hello, i have a problem in dsg at my MK5 1.9 tdi. Sometimes to change the gear from 3 to 4 or from 4 to 5 the RPM most jump to 3000-4000 RPM. Have you any idea where to look this problem. Everything else is working nice. Thanks in advance
This is a great video, thank you so much for making it. I have a 2006 A3 3.2 Quattro (8P) with 6 speed DSG. (6 forward gears and 1 reverse - so does that make it 7 speed?) Anyway, I have hard downshifts from 3-2 and 2-1. I also have some issues when setting off from a stop - the best way I can describe it is slack in the drive-train that takes a split second to catch up then there's a thud from under the car when the slack has gone and the car sets off. Does this sound like a mechatronic failure or something else. I wondered about engine mounts but from what I read online the mechatronic seems more likely. Also, removing the mechatronic, is it as simple as draining the transmission fluid, unplugging the round connector and unbolting the cover ? Is there such a thing as a mechatronic service kit and if so, how would I know which one to buy ? Again, great video. I've been driving around with this problem for a year rather than spend $1500 on a new unit.
I ran a full test and the transmission didn't return any errors...do I need to run a transmission specific test or should the whole system test reveal errors if there are any ? Hello, I've just watched your video and give it a 👍. Awesomee, realy aweesome! I have one question for my own DSG wich has a litlle issue. When downshifting from 3rd to 2nd gear the DSG makes a clunk sound (click sound, like metal on metal). It doesn't affect the driving at all, the DSG shifts fluid and easy it just makes that sound, so my question is could it be maybe a bad solenoid on the mechatronic or?? Ps. the dmf flywheel is new and service is done (oil and filter)
@@GigiBeleaDK how come you never mentioned clutch problems? Some reported they replaced clutches and solved issues like the one above (clunk sounds that usually appear around 2 to 3rd gear, I suspect because those are the gears most used and under heavier load)

Mi am luat inima in dinti si l am desfacut. Am prelungit firele de la mufa de pe masina si l am alimentat, l am bagat intr un bidon cu ulei am vazut imediat ca era baza la acumulator, am fost si am sudato. Am montat totul inapoi. Masina merge super acum. Nu mai licare nici vitezele in bord si nici nu mai ezite sa schibe viteza a 7-a. Am documentat tot( poze si video) o sa postez si eu poate sunt si alte persoane care vor sa il repare singuri. Super video. Am un passat b6 din 2009 la care eroarea este ca nu comunica cu TCM ul si nu porneste. Mufa era plina de ulei, am dat mechatronicul jos cu ajutorul filmuletului tau (multumesc mult) si nu stiu daca sa tai acel plastic si sa merg mai departe. Eu sunt din Bucuresti, ma poti ajuta tu? Multumesc frumos!
Daca nu ai mai facut asa ceva niciodata, nu as recomanda. Nu locuiesc in Romania, asa ca e cam greu cu ajutatul. Eventual daca trimiti unitatea la mine in DK

In interior era full de ulei.Nu pare sa aiba niciun fir dezlipit sau altceva la prima vedere. Sunt dispus sa iti trimit unitatea daca crezi ca o mai putem salva/repara. I recently bought a golf r 2010 with the dq250 and did a basic reset of the dsg, after the reset the car became harsh in first gear and jumps out of gear and got fault codes on n215 and n216 short to plus" The car seems to work when cold but when it gets warmed up i get the fault codes again and the car does not drive. I would really like to understand more and you seem like you know alot about the dsg6 dsq250

Try and change the solenoid only first. If that does not help then the mechatroic unit needs to be repaired.

Alright. Since you repair these. Could you answer a question I have about my dq250. It's stutters when shifting during full throttle. 3-4 4-5. And jitters in second while slowing down. Shifts fine under light throttle. It has a pressure error code.
Have you ever figured out what makes these malfunction when they get hot? My unit has been throwing the same solenoid stuck on code even after that particular solenoid was replaced, but only when it's hot. Do you think you could be the spring connector tabs losing contact because of the heat?
Also, is there a way to use the pin connector to diagnose these faults inside the box? If there was some sort of map to show the proper resistance between each pin and a point on the plastic cover with the connector tabs, it might be easier to determine where the fault is.

What kind of fault the mechatronic has to have in order for you to drill open the back cover ? What sort of fault code could it be ? Or if it can not be detected via vcds, how it demonstrates ?
Sent you an email about my 2010 VW Passat wagon and it slamming into 1st on take off and slipping until my ck eng light comes on. Are the N215 & N216 solenoids the ones you measured 4.7& 4.8ohms? Also, you don't recommend applying voltage to the solenoids to heat them up a little....just to get them working dynamically? Just so you can make sure one of the solenoids doesn't fail under higher temperature or dynamic situations? Just out of curiosity, where are you located? Thank you for the video. I have a problem with my mechatronic of JPZ gear box from VW Golf V R32.
The problem comes suddenly and the gear box fell in to failure mode and only the first gear (front) worked.
Using VCDS we found the error code 18232 P1824 that reference to the N217 solenoid short circuit and 18154 P1746 - supply currency of the solenoids, no other errors found.
We tested the valves and all they give the good resistance. Then we cutted off the PCB cap and found a lot of oil inside.. Could it be the reason of gear box failure? Could you please advice how should I correctly clean the PCB and glue the cap back?
By the way as I can see the small cupper tube connect the PCB with the big round plug but not the pinhole that you mentioned in your video, am I correct or not?
Can I ship my mechatronic to you and you repair it?
Hi Jax, I checked the resistance of my solenoids and got the same readings as all of your good solenoids. Does this mean they are ok, or are there other checks I can do on the solenoids before diving any deeper and cutting the cover off?

I have a problem with my dsg 250. When selecting reverse there is a delay and that causes flashing transmission light on dash. Also there is a loss of reverse. Sometimes it does click into reverse but there is a noticeable delay. Could this be mechatronic related? Or mechanical?

Not sure what you mean ? The electrical plate on the DSG 7 is held in place by some simple screws, more easy to dismantle. If you take it apart watch out for the gaskets.

I have a transmission that only has damage to the round connector plug housing, as well and two pins which have broken off. The plastic part you show here is a one piece unit glued to the metal part. So my question is, how can I repair/replace this part
That part you can not replace or swap. It is thermal "welded" onto the aluminum body. The underside of the PCB is also thermal welded / glued to the body. You can try to solder new pins on the connector and pray it will hold, else time for another unit.

Defective module, fuse , wiring ? Can be many things. Check your wiring and grounds.

i think my dsg mechatronic also has a problem.
no fault codes can be found in the transmission and engine control unit.
cold start the car everything are fine. after warmed up and ran about 45 min. transmission always not smooth when change to lower gear. usually it happened when the car nearly stop at the traffic light.
i had changed a set of second hand solenoids. ( my old set the value of ohms is too large ) but the problems still remain unchanged.
do you have any idea what is the problem?

After changed the solenoids, i did basic setting by diagnostics equipment.
Also, found the ignition coil and spark plug conditions not good. So changed it.
The throttle body cleaned and reset by diagnostics equipment.

is about a passat 2009 dsg dq 250.
the car comes with an error about clutch monitoring an client want to perform basic settings.
when i try to do basic settings odis tell me the coding is incorect and ask me if i want to perform corect coding.
i performed coding ad after performed basic settings. when finish the basic settings the car run in reverse 4 second and in d mode only gear 1 and 2. for 4 seconds and error p1815 pressure control valve 1 open or short to+intermitent
i replace the clutch and the problem persist i replace the n215 an same problem. i ceck the valves with multimeter ok i ceck the connectors plate to tcu with multimeter ok. i don t understand.
please give me some advice

Clear sign that the TCU itself has a problem and not the solenoids.
hi gigi, I have Passat b7 2011 with error 18223 18228 no fault found with valves but after opening circuit of mechatron found filled with oil but all connecting wires intact so do guide me further and what glue to be used to seal it again ,

Maybe the transistor for the valves is burned or weak. This means maybe the valves do not open / close correctly. If this is a newer unit , I would change the N215 / N216.
Can a solenoid be broken even if it shows normal resistance and still shows about 4.1??
Put 12v on it and hear if it clicks :) Solenoid can be good electrically but can still let some fluid escape if it does not close good.

You should use some heat / oil resistant sealant. I use some special silicone , but I found out that the windshield sealant works good also.

No, not all solenoids make a click. Only the big valves are ON OFF valves, the others are oscilating solenoids.

Hello, your work is very informative thank you for the videos, i have 2 questions 1) regarding the connector pins i was changing my gearbox then the mechanic did not fit the connector well so one pin broke how can i fix it?
2) i replaced another mechatronics unit after the pin broke now i have an error of clutch temperature monitoring but the same mechatronics was okay before i changed my gearbox now i have 2 mechatronics unit which are faulty.

Can i test the n215/216 while mechatronic is still installed in the transmission? Im guessing to maybe unplug the main mechatronic plug and then test OHM .

yes, that you can test. Just remove the plug but there is still a chance that the valve is not opening / closing correctly while under load.
Car is still driveable. I performed a dsg reset and got some violent downshifts into 1st gear and also from N to D and N to R . I drove for 10 mins and it went away. Car drives normal only studdering and jumping 1st gear and reverse

This is a great video, thank you so much for making it. I have a 2006 A3 3.2 Quattro (8P) with 6 speed DSG. (6 forward gears and 1 reverse - so does that make it 7 speed?) Anyway, I have hard downshifts from 3-2 and 2-1. I also have some issues when setting off from a stop - the best way I can describe it is slack in the drive-train that takes a split second to catch up then there's a thud from under the car when the slack has gone and the car sets off. Does this sound like a mechatronic failure or something else. I wondered about engine mounts but from what I read online the mechatronic seems more likely. Also, removing the mechatronic, is it as simple as draining the transmission fluid, unplugging the round connector and unbolting the cover ? Is there such a thing as a mechatronic service kit and if so, how would I know which one to buy ? Again, great video. I've been driving around with this problem for a year rather than spend $1500 on a new unit.
You can try to change the N215 and N216 with new solenoids. If this does not help then change the mechatronic unit.

Failing solenoids are always visible in error codes, yes.
I ran a full test and the transmission didn't return any errors...do I need to run a transmission specific test or should the whole system test reveal errors if there are any ? Here are the relevant parts of the full test I did.

I have one question for my own DSG wich has a litlle issue. When downshifting from 3rd to 2nd gear the DSG makes a clunk sound (click sound, like metal on metal). It doesn't affect the driving at all, the DSG shifts fluid and easy it just makes that sound, so my question is could it be maybe a bad solenoid on the mechatronic or??
Ps. the dmf flywheel is new and service is done (oil and filter)

@@GigiBeleaDK how come you never mentioned clutch problems? Some reported they replaced clutches and solved issues like the one above (clunk sounds that usually appear around 2 to 3rd gear, I suspect because those are the gears most used and under heavier load)
@@silviuguseila2552 Might solve "clunk" noises on upshift but changing clutch will NOT solve the "clunk" noise on downshifting.

Nu stiu daca mai tii minte problema de la masina mea.( imi licareau vitezele in bord)
Am fost la tester si mi a zis ca pompa din mechatronic face doar 26bari.
Mi am luat inima in dinti si l am desfacut. Am prelungit firele de la mufa de pe masina si l am alimentat, l am bagat intr un bidon cu ulei am vazut imediat ca era baza la acumulator, am fost si am sudato.
Am montat totul inapoi.
Masina merge super acum. Nu mai licare nici vitezele in bord si nici nu mai ezite sa schibe viteza a 7-a.
Am documentat tot( poze si video) o sa postez si eu poate sunt si alte persoane care vor sa il repare singuri.
Ps la service mi a cerul 7100 ron ptr mechatronic nou plus montat
Pe mine m a costat munca doar, sudura a facuto un prieten.

Hi I have problem Passat b6 2007r DSG 6. Jerk when I start driving and when change from 3 to 2 gear when i use S and from fast I slown down when is 2 gear RPM jump between 1000-2000 RPM. No any alarms on delphi diagnostics also new oil in DSG . maybe I need only clean mechatronic?

Mufa era plina de ulei, am dat mechatronicul jos cu ajutorul filmuletului tau (multumesc mult) si nu stiu daca sa tai acel plastic si sa merg mai departe. Eu sunt din Bucuresti, ma poti ajuta tu? Daca nu ai mai facut asa ceva niciodata, nu as recomanda. Nu locuiesc in Romania, asa ca e cam greu cu ajutatul. Eventual daca trimiti unitatea la mine in DK

In interior era full de ulei.Nu pare sa aiba niciun fir dezlipit sau altceva la prima vedere. Sunt dispus sa iti trimit unitatea daca crezi ca o mai putem salva/repara. The car seems to work when cold but when it gets warmed up i get the fault codes again and the car does not drive.
