Arnold's character in red Sonja was Conan, in the comics he routinely would leave his throne to adventure under different aliases.
I remember as a kid i just thought it was conan.
In the script it was Conan but I guess they later changed their mind and changed the character into some random barbarian, I wish they kept it as is and we would’ve had both Conan and Sonja on the big screen.

This was before his vlogs and his lack of knowledge of the guy where he made fun of his Splinter voice (since he died of lung cancer and he made a cigarette joke) and I knew joked at Mako without being really disrespectful like some celebrities he made fun of. And in the end, Mako got his just desserts via Chuck Norris.Either way, he knows now that no one messes with Mako unless you're joking around and you acknowledge that in the same video so that the angry messages are reduced.

Yeah, I realize that Doug doesn't want to only do this format for the NC but I really loved it. This is what made me such a big fan of Doug's. He didn't need tons of gimmicks, props, skits, and actors to make us laugh and care about what he had to say. All he needed was good commentary. And when he did do something different, it was really interesting. I can see where he'd get bored with this format but it's what worked best for the NC. It's what got him where he is today.
Ben Grieve way too many memes during this period, plus I feel he gives even less credit where credit is due during this period.

Red Sonja isn't a Conan ripoff, she's part of the Conan canon as a rival/sometimes ally

Red Sonia came before either Conan the Barbarian or The Masters of the Universe. She was a Marvel Comic book character & a total badass. In fact, Conan was a Red Sonia spinn-off & Heman ripped off Conan. Therefore Sherah ripped of Red Sonia.

As others have said in the comments, Red Sonja is not a Conan rip-off, it's a Conan spin-off. She's part of the Conan universe, and Arnold is in this movie playing as Conan.
Also I'm fairly sure the kid had string holding him up so as to not risk him being injured or strangled. Safety first!
Arnold is playing Kalidor(sp?). He isn't Conan.

@@Kona_chibi you're really pulling something for the writers of this movie. This ain't no crossover. For whatever reason, they didn't want to make a Conan and Red Sonja movie, so they gave us a guy like Conan played by Arnold Schwarzenegger to make us think this might be good.
@@walker1984 the original script had CONAN. Due to rights ownership issues, Red Sonja was cheaper to buy than Conan. So they had to change Conan to Kalidor.

viKing1428 Well Doug is kinda tired of doing that format all the time. Sometimes he'll take a break with his story based skits and just do it like the old days where we got a skit or two (maybe an ending skit like in some reviews like It and the Langoliers) or a small/simple story skit like with the NC reviewing The Room by traveling to the future so it can be nostalgic material. Either way, I enjoy both versions.
Same, I don't like the skits they put in now. Though some are funny I only want to see nostalgia critic.

dnmstarsi imo most of them are, they feel stupid and unnecesary and most of them i watch them yeah i get yeah ok stop...yea we know what the joke is..., of course it's not going to be most of the review that would be retarded, but still they usually take like 4 to 9 minutes sometimes

Crazy that Mako is so beloved that, once upon a time, Nostalgia Critic got hate comments for a throwaway joke about his voice as Splinter. Doesn't help that TMNT was Mako's final voice acting role before his death, and that was before the movie even released, but Critic obviously didn't know that at the time. Nowadays, Critic is a HUGE Avatar fan. Times really do change.
Mako also played a South Korean doctor in an episode of M*A*S*H.

Yeah, I remember that Mako, Pat Morita and Jack Soo were guest stars in M*A*S*H. If they had gotten George Takei it would have been Asian star Yahtzee.
He was in 4 episodes of M*A*S*H. He played 4 different characters, I don't remember all their names though. That's the only place I ever knew Mako from. I love M*A*S*H!

i loved the prince. Ernie Rayes jr has always been a favorite actor for me. i saw his tv series sidekicks long befor i saw red sonja. given his family is actualy really big in Hollywood as almost all of them are prolific actors and stuntman, and fight choreographers it is no surprise he was the best actor in the movie

I saw it as a double feature with Back to the Future, so I had a great day at the movies! I just enjoyed the silly action, the little bratty prince, and the playfulness between Brigitte and Arnold. Campy fun! Plus Queen Gedron, come on! hehe

He even sang a sad song during an episode, which made his death all the more impactful.

I loved all these movies. Conan the Barbarian, Conan the Destroyer (yes, I did), this movie, Krull, Lady Hawke, Green Knight, so many others. I think it would be great if Hollywood would make movies like this again. NOT remake them *cough cough* like that horrible 2011 Conan *vomits*. I know that won't happen, just wish it would. There are TV series like Legend of the Seeker (based on Terry Goodkind) and Shannara Chronicles (based on Terry Brooks). Seeker isn't a bad show kinda fits the books. Shannara has just horrible design. Everyone knows Game of Thrones, never watched it myself. What I would love to see are some Druss movies based on David Gemmell's books. They would ruin that, like the others though, and that would make me rage.

The little Prince, aka Ernie Reyes Jr, comes from Strong Martial arts family. So, YEAH, cheesy as this movie is, his choreography IS better than everyone else's cause he's the only one who knows what the hell he's doing! lol
I love Red Sonja, the movie, the characters, the soundtrack of Ennio Morricone... It's childhood memories, and I watch it once a year with an unaltered pleasure. Those 80's heroic fantasy movies have an irreplaceable atmosphere. Dunno why people always hate on them. It's a movie I will watch again 100 more times before I die, I can't say as much of Force Awakens.

I never realized choosing a sword and choosing a wand were so much alike! Gold light pouring down and angelic voices & all! Just as the wand chooses the wizard, the sword calls out for it's intended, quite literally apparently.

1. They dedicated an episode to him
2. They named a character after him

For as terrible as it is, it's a good concept and their little fellowship has a good variety of personalities and archetypes.

This film is a guilty pleasure for me as the acting is so unintentionally hilarious all through, but thank you so much for including two of my favourite moments of this with the magnificently stilted "Ged-ddren.....?......Queen....Ged-de-ren....?" at 10:41 ("...I'm......acting..." LOL!) and that incredible bit of facial gurning she does near the end at 18:41 ("Gedren! Where ARE YOU!!"" ). Definitely a film that's so bad it's good! ;-)
