"Listen, Tony, I don't know why I had to go this far back. I mean, I wasn't exactly in my prime in the 90's..." "...oh you gotta be shitting me." (The 1990 Captain America stands in front of the current Captain America.) "Are you one of Hydra's experiments? Another Super Soldier wearing my getup to make people think I'm evil?" (Modern CA groans and facepalms.) "Jesus Christ, was I _really_ like this in the 90's? There is no way I was grandiose as all hell like---WHOA!" (Modern CA is cut off as 90's CA throws his shield at his future self, almost hitting him!) "Go back to Red Skull, you." "Alright, I can see that trying to explain to you that I hate Red Skull as much as you do will be pointless, so take this." (Modern CA swings his shield at 90's CA, who sucessfully blocks it. Both of them then have a shield-fight, but after Modern CA hits 90's CA's shield a couple of times, it breaks!) "Huh. My shield wasn't Vibranium back then." "Wait...what? What do you mean Vibranium?" "Vibranium is the strongest material on Earth. It means that I can do this all day. (90's Cap jumps to his feet, realizing that this must be his future self. He holds up his hands, and his future self stops in his tracks.) "Are you...me? From the future?" "Yeah. But I can't tell you any future events, it'll screw up the timeline in more ways than both of us can count." "Can you at least tell me if my old pal, Bucky, is still out there?" "That, I can do. He's alive, but I wouldn't start searching for him until you're a bit older, kid." (90's CA sees a glimmer, and Hydra soldiers start to go toward it. He throws both halves of his shield at them, knocking them out cold.) "Wow. Nice." "You're looking for something, right?" "Yeah. _(goes toward rock, picks it up)_ It's an Infinity Stone. No way..." "I think I've heard of those...But I thought they...and that "Thanos" guy...were just folk legends." "Trust me, kid. You'll see they aren't."
My dad told me this movie sucked, I watched it that day and thought it was garbage. But when I saw it as a kid I thought it wasn't half bad but now I can actually listen to the story.

I know I am being REALLY nitpicky but Red Skull was a German not Italian, and the Super Soldier Serum he obtained would be from a cloned body of Captain America years later, not when he was a child. Look, I know it is incredibly sad that I know this, but I can't help it.
Axel Quatripolar actually Sam Jackson's portrayal is comic accurate since many elements of the movie universe were taken from the ultimate comics version.

Lol I actually do wonder why they didn't use someone like Chuck Norris to play an American hero. I mean when you think of the phrase "American hero", don't you think of retro action movie characters that portrayed badassery?
I saw this movie at a family sleepover when i was 6 years old and the opening inside-out skin rat Red Skull experiment scene scared THE FUCKING SHIT outta me! it was seriously burned into my fragile child psyche and is the one single thing I can remember having the most nightmares about throughout my childhood (there was also an episode of Dragnet I saw when I was 8 that convinced me the was a bomb in our toilet for about a year, but this is about Captain America) There where some pretty horrific flashbacks and waves of pure terror the first time I watched a review online for this movie
I watched this film when I was a kid in the 90's. It's funny watching folks complain about MCU films and TV shows now, when THIS is what I had to put up with as a Marvel fan who wanted to watch a superhero film back then.
It wasn't all bad don't forget The Punisher with Dolph Lundgren came out in 89 and that was a pretty neat film and don't forget the batman and superman films although not Superman 4 and Batman and Robin but the others were good there were a few superhero films that were great back then also Blade came out in 98!
Thank goodness for Chris Evans Captain America movies. I'll admit I read a few comics as a kid. When I saw Chris Evans in the movies and the winter soldier made me a fan and read more of the comic books and a bigger fan and respect the character a lot more.
I would say OK to amazing, because the 90's was when Marvel vs Capcom was born. Fuck, Marvel vs Capcom is so good that as soon as Disney realized no one gives a shit about Disney Infinity, the first thing they did was give Capcom the rights to rerelease Marvel vs Capcom 3 and make a new game. This happened almost immediately, by the way, which makes me wonder why they didn't resign the contract back in 2013
I can definitely see Chuck Norris pull off a badass Captain America considering that’s he’s an actual trained martial artist, has the attitude of the superhero plus his character of Walker from the Walker Texas ranger show is almost like that without the superhero part.
Dear Critic, please review the Fantastic Four movie that came out in the 80's (?). The few clips I've seen it's absolutely hysterical. Dr. Doom's performance with these elaborate gestures evoked side-splittling howls of laughter. Ben Grimm looks like an orange turd. The final image of Rick Reed's arm waving out of a limo's sun roof and one can just image the crew member waving this horrible prop back and forth inside the limo. I imagine you get a shit-ton of requests but consider that masterpiece of shittiness.
Sorry, but that Corman version is better than the newer ones.....maybe not the tricks, but the rest is better (and by the way: Doom always had a dramatic speech syndrome, also in the comics)
6:24 Okay, so let’s do the math here: assuming Red Skull was twelve in 1936 when he was taken from his family and experimented on, that would mean that he was nineteen when he first went up against Captain America in 1943. Then that would make Red Skull sixty-six in the movie’s present day (1990).
Ironic how at the time, DC was making great movies and Marvel was copying them, now Marvel is making Masterpieces and DC is trying to copy them. I’m realizing a pattern one makes great art and the other tries to copy it.

And Winter Soldier also involved the assassinations of JFK and Martin Luther King.
Uuuuh... The V-1 has an operational distance of 150 miles... They could hardly reach the UK, let alone D.C. or Alaska!
The most unrealistic part was the fact that it was on target of course ;)
Even if it was a functional ICBM Steve would've died from extreme G forces, Re entry friction. Not to mention lack of oxygen
4:39 - Put the speed to watch rapid gunfire.
This was the first review i watched of Nostalgia critic and I have been a huge fan since then. My cousins showed me this a few years ago becouse they thought it was funny, mostly the Syke Hitler...
They did that in the new one
We had a great interpretation of the character by Chris Evans, now it’s Anthony Mackie (Falcon).
I prefer MCU Captain America over this.
That's an definitely original thought.
Agreed, Isaac
Who doesn't
I too prefer a delicious five star meal over a pile of shit
The Captain America Trilogy is the best Trilogies of all time.
1:29 we call it, the harryhausen effect.
3:08 begin the torture!!!
3:45 the best part.
4:12 4:20 4:32 the best BEST parts
"Listen, Tony, I don't know why I had to go this far back. I mean, I wasn't exactly in my prime in the 90's..."
"...oh you gotta be shitting me."
(The 1990 Captain America stands in front of the current Captain America.)
"Are you one of Hydra's experiments? Another Super Soldier wearing my getup to make people think I'm evil?"
(Modern CA groans and facepalms.)
"Jesus Christ, was I _really_ like this in the 90's? There is no way I was grandiose as all hell like---WHOA!"
(Modern CA is cut off as 90's CA throws his shield at his future self, almost hitting him!)
"Go back to Red Skull, you."
"Alright, I can see that trying to explain to you that I hate Red Skull as much as you do will be pointless, so take this."
(Modern CA swings his shield at 90's CA, who sucessfully blocks it. Both of them then have a shield-fight, but after Modern CA hits 90's CA's shield a couple of times, it breaks!)
"Huh. My shield wasn't Vibranium back then."
"Wait...what? What do you mean Vibranium?"
"Vibranium is the strongest material on Earth. It means that I can do this all day.
(90's Cap jumps to his feet, realizing that this must be his future self. He holds up his hands, and his future self stops in his tracks.)
"Are you...me? From the future?"
"Yeah. But I can't tell you any future events, it'll screw up the timeline in more ways than both of us can count."
"Can you at least tell me if my old pal, Bucky, is still out there?"
"That, I can do. He's alive, but I wouldn't start searching for him until you're a bit older, kid."
(90's CA sees a glimmer, and Hydra soldiers start to go toward it. He throws both halves of his shield at them, knocking them out cold.)
"Wow. Nice."
"You're looking for something, right?"
"Yeah. _(goes toward rock, picks it up)_ It's an Infinity Stone. No way..."
"I think I've heard of those...But I thought they...and that "Thanos" guy...were just folk legends."
"Trust me, kid. You'll see they aren't."
This is god awful for 1990.
This is god awful for any year
This is awful for any time period. If this was the first movie ever made, movies would've been abandoned as a mistake.
Captain America, the stereotype soldier of America. Can't hate him. Atleast he doesn't have tentacles, like Captain Japan.
CAPTAIN JAPAN! Defiler of Lolis everywhere with his tentacles of JUSTICE
Shuuya Kano *shudder*
Axel Quatripolar or captain thailand
WHAT!
or captain Canada. Most dont even know hes there. The invisible penis some say
Thank God For The MCU
This has to be my favourite episode I've seen from the Critic so far.
You wanna know what guy could honestly look the least bit intimidating in that ridiculous outfit?
Chris Evans.
"A-CHRIS-A EVAAAAAAAAAAAAAANS!"
By the way; Matt Salinger the guy who played Captain America also played Burke in revenge of the nerds and was his 1st acting gig.
13:47 The funny part about that is, COBRA is pretty much a rip-off of HYDRA.
God, the german is awful.
@@chrisnotyou Hes referring to a German person in the movie
My dad told me this movie sucked, I watched it that day and thought it was garbage. But when I saw it as a kid I thought it wasn't half bad but now I can actually listen to the story.
I saw this one for the curious of it and after I was done, I asked myself: "What the hell was I watching?" or "Why did I watched it?". I'm glad they got it right in Captain America The First Avenger and they been awesome ever since.
Had to come back to this gem
I want the see the Avengers cast reacting to this in character
5:49 “You’re all stupid. See, they’re gonna be lookin’ for army guys.”
Axel Quatripolar I never said anything about the old movies. I was just pointing out that the version in the mcu was based off of the ultimate version. And I don't have a problem with adaptations changing things as long as they are changes for the better.
Axel Quatripolar I didn't complain about it. The other guy did. Look at the names above the comments.
Axel Quatripolar silverware or plastic?
***** Because it's cheaper to film in Italy
4:29 Why does that get me every time?😅😅😅
17:48 ... Well that didn't age well.
7:10 for someone twice as intelligent as a human being and strong enough to cut a super soldier arm with one swing Red Skull is also very stupid in this movie, i mean seriously: couldn't he had cut off CAPTAIN AMERICA'S ARM instead of his?
Good thing the MCU actually made that costume a little more intimidating
Avengers 1 looks a little goofy.
Eh i think it looks silly, i mean superheroes are easily just goofy
I’m pretty sure the correct word is “memorable”
Aaah 2009, back when the MCU only had 2 movies and there were only 4 X Mens
Grand Theft Superhero
It does look like a crappy GTA film
You still have to imagine what if the 90s captainAmerica teamed up with wolverine from the x-men movies,spider-man from the spider-man trilogy, blade from the blade trilogy, hulk from that god awful 2003 hulk movie, dare devil from that dare devil movie,Elektra from that Elektra movie and Nick Fury from the Nick Fury movie in an avengers movie
10:13, weak !! Your calling the man who was frozen in ice for the last few decades and then had the strength to just break through the ice and just walk off like nothing happened WEAK ?!?
8:22
the movie said "somewhere in Alabka"
I was turning 10, it was my biggest birthday party, and because we were all into Marvel Comics, it seemed like a great idea to get one of the only Marvel movies to watch... well, everyone left, and it was my only big birthday party ever. Thanks Captain America, you ruined my life!
I want to see Chris Evans have an homage moment where he jumps out of a car to throw up and immediately steals it.
Lol I actually do wonder why they didn't use someone like Chuck Norris to play an American hero. I mean when you think of the phrase "American hero", don't you think of retro action movie characters that portrayed badassery?
I saw this movie at a family sleepover when i was 6 years old and the opening inside-out skin rat Red Skull experiment scene scared THE FUCKING SHIT outta me! it was seriously burned into my fragile child psyche and is the one single thing I can remember having the most nightmares about throughout my childhood (there was also an episode of Dragnet I saw when I was 8 that convinced me the was a bomb in our toilet for about a year, but this is about Captain America)
There where some pretty horrific flashbacks and waves of pure terror the first time I watched a review online for this movie
“After Red Skull becomes Numbskull”😂
Thank goodness for Chris Evans Captain America movies. I'll admit I read a few comics as a kid. When I saw Chris Evans in the movies and the winter soldier made me a fan and read more of the comic books and a bigger fan and respect the character a lot more.
4:17 the most ironic joke ever
8:56, boom mic at the top of the screen.
Holy shit, how did he not point that out?
DC ruled the 80s and 90s and now marvel rules the 2000s
Marvel did ok in the 90's with cartoons and video games.
This happened almost immediately, by the way, which makes me wonder why they didn't resign the contract back in 2013
Emily's Cinema agreed
I would say they rule the 2010s more because DC still released a lot of awesome films like the Dark Knight, Batman Begins, Watchmen, Superman returns
@@@masonshipton6996 :
You know, dark turds are still turds... Not to say that Marvel's doing any better, funny turds are, also still turds...
I can definitely see Chuck Norris pull off a badass Captain America considering that’s he’s an actual trained martial artist, has the attitude of the superhero plus his character of Walker from the Walker Texas ranger show is almost like that without the superhero part.
The shock part was the best, LOL... "The camera wasn't recording!"
2:53 Did they just mention Superman in a Marvel movie?!
OSanoBR I did not know that.
They did the same thing in Spider-Man 2002
This makes total sense! Red Skull was involved with all of these assassinations because he's CGB Spender. This is just an Xfiles episode!
GREG FREEMAN he one uped it!
'90s. '90s. '90s. And it's Reed Richards.
1994, to be precise. Though, it does look like it was made in the 80s.
It never actually officaly came out as it was really just made so they would not lose the rights to the franchise
Sorry, but that Corman version is better than the newer ones.....maybe not the tricks, but the rest is better (and by the way: Doom always had a dramatic speech syndrome, also in the comics)
*0:10* it's for literally every comic in existence HERACLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hate to see how he handles funerals
"God I suck!" I laughed so hard on that part.
Forgot to mention the rubber ears on his cowl. Why didn't they just put holes in it?!
Lmfao when he said "when did this turn into a Daffy Duck cartoon? " 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
9:47, that was pretty damn funny.
It looks like it was shot in 1970.
I love that it takes 7 random shots just to film him get hit with a bike.
Can you believe the guy who plays Captain America (Matt Sallinger) is JD Sallinger son (Catcher in the Rye)
He was the Bad Guy in Revenge of The Nerds.
Wow, this makes Reb Brown's Captain America look Oscar-worthy.
I keep finding these reviews I’ve never seen before and didn’t know existed. Nice!
God...Captain America God an upgrade in 2011 and he has only kept going up.
Anyone else notice that boom mic in the shot around 8:40 ? its only a quick shot but .. still there
17:31 The OG after-credit scene.
Speaking of a bull's-eye costume, the shield is literally a bull's-eye!
Ironic how at the time, DC was making great movies and Marvel was copying them, now Marvel is making Masterpieces and DC is trying to copy them. I’m realizing a pattern one makes great art and the other tries to copy it.
@@Sparrows1121 Really now? Most works of fiction that include any sort of fantastical elements could be called "goofy and silly" when contrasted to the real world but that doesn't mean you can't get drama and good stories out of them. Also, this ain't the 60s, grandpa. The superhero genra has indulged in dark and gritty shit so much that the latter itself has become mocked and satirized to hell and back XD Piss off, you myopic fucktard XD
Wouldn’t it’ve been hilarious if Captain America tripped and fell when he was trying to steal the car?
