    The Thunderbird was built on the same platform as the Lincoln LS, Jaguar S-Type, and Jaguar XF. Not the X100 platform, which was a modified and updated XJS platform.
    The chrome shift surround and the chrome gauge rings weren’t optional. They came out with the 2004 MY. Older cars have been retrofitted with aftermarket chrome by owners. Great video!

    Jaguar X100 is a fantastic car but a bit snug for taller fellows. X150 (2007 - 2015) is much better. Porsches are everywhere. Jaguar is special.

    I have a 1996 Jaguar XK8, no leaks, no electrical problems, but some rust though... new wheel bearings, new tensioners, new waterpump. Cost me slightly under $10 000. Colour; Topaz, interieur , oatmeal. Hardtop.

    There is a you tube video of a team that did some serious work on a 200x XKR Coupe. Dropping in a manual transmission. They got the jag up to 450 HP. That’s my goal!

    • @benpenagonzales6014
      @benpenagonzales6014 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Big chunk of that was the over axle exhaust section which is crushed at factory for easier installation. Instant boost and noise from centre resonator back. Manual swap a nightmare due to electronics. Just fyi. Enjoy! Suspension and brake upgrades also recommended!

    At 4:25 "when some one says 'Jag-wire' what do you think?" I think, goofy American who can't pronounce a simple word like 'Jaguar'. 😁 I get that the Brits say 'Jag-u-ar' and most of us in North America say 'Jag-wahr' (both are acceptable in my book and make some sense). I really don't get the 'Jag-wire' pronunciation that so many yanks use on YT vids. Oh well.
    I am the very lucky owner of a 2003 XKR. No issues with that car. It has the bigger 4.2 litre engine and a supercharger. It gets 400hp and the literature claims it could do 0 - 60 in 4.9 secs. I love it.

    I have a 04 4.2 xkr carbon fibre special edition one of 50 hardtops made , I hammer the hell out of it, handles great for a tourer only thing I've had to replace is the rear abs sensors. Started getting rust bubbles now though as it has lived mostly near the coast of England, so salt in the air and the salt put on the roads in winter are now having an effect on it, but as it's nearly 20 years old I can forgive that.

    You need to replace the over rear axle part of the exhaust on the Jag! No sht, instant +10hp as the pipes are crushed for easier installation at factory.

  • @boilerbonz

    Note: the Jaguar S-Type, mid-sized sedan, not the XK8, shared the same platform as the Thunderbird. The XK8 was built on an updated version of the original Jaguar XJS platform. The XK8 did share the same V8 engine block with the Thunderbird, which was based on the V8 engine that Jaguar had under development when Ford bought them in 1990. I agree Ford made Jaguar much more reliable; I would argue comparable to the German marques. Having owned both, I don't believe for a second that 996 would less expensive to maintain than the XK8.
