    This week I’m seeing how realistic I can get my drawing. It's mostly about resisting the urge to exaggerate the proportions, but oh the pull to the dark side is strong…
    Marvel comics had that house style of drawing and then I notice a split, kind of after John Romita Junior, one direction led by Marc Silvestri that leads to Jim Lee and Rob Liefeld, another into the realistic guys like David Mazzucchelli and perhaps even Frank Miller, of course Steve Rude as well all the way up to Alex Ross.

    If you see women of early XX century women, you find the unrealistic body type to be just a modern label. and quite honestly in my country i just need to go walk outside to at least see 3 girls with the body type that in some countries is labeled unrealistic.

      Lol, lucky man. Yeah, there’s so many variables. I like when artists add that diversity in their characters, George Perez did it a bit. With some artists its just the costumes and hair length that change..

      @@retrosuperheroart2202 No denying that props also enhance. 90´s over the top looks are misjudged. if you saw what went on on fashion magazines, tv shows, movies of the era you would understand the influences better. but the next generations that grew up with a smartphone and not riding a bike seem to not understand those comics pretty much reflect an era. just look up for Thierry Mugler and you will find Deathbird´s costume of the era on his runways. Void was inspired by Sorayama, who also influenced some of Mugler´s creations. and hey just look at Daisy from the Dukes of Hazzard or some Stars from the Hollywood golden era, and well were they unrealistic?

      I mention this not to antagonize, but to shine some light on important information that has been ignored regarding comics.

      Cool, I agree. I showed the 80s fitness craze in that Rob Liefeld video as well, Those high belts and arched backs were for reals ;-)

    The women in comics are like athletes and model's. Many artists today forget this and try to be politically correct. If you work out all day this is what can happen women have curves and muscle and men can be super jacked. It's more realistic to the job they do.

      Yup, and look at the Olympics. All shapes and sizes. Although there it gets complicated because depending on the sport some proportions you are born with can matter a lot.

    If I want to see realism I go out into the streets, when I buy comics, games, watch series I want to see idealized beauty, idealized ugliness, unreal situations in short I want to see the non-existent.

      Good point. I enjoy the escapism in the art but with a bit of realism in the story to make it relatable.

      Cool! Now those are sketchbooks. Steve Rude would be proud. Great arms and vein practice. For the Capullo head I believe you skipped the grid to get the divisions. I'll send an e-mail later today.

    Nowadays we have AI, can do a pretty good job

    • @retrosuperheroart2202
      @retrosuperheroart2202  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yup.. I wonder if in a couple of years I would be able to ask for a comic in my favorite artist and writers style how I would feel. Glad or sad...

    • @Wearur_tee
      @Wearur_tee 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ will as an artist you will be sad cuz now there’s something that can replace you and also fast, for a human even professionals may take hours to draw a character, now AI can do a good job and just in a few seconds. How you can be glad.

    • @retrosuperheroart2202

      I kind of had that AI feeling when watching Fallout. It feels like a mix of every good show of the past, but it's so well done that I don't mind. The AI comic might be really good in that way, but yeah, I'll feel sorry for the artists who won't get jobs.
