My favorite rain is Hideout(manga) but Will Eisner mastered this in comic book industry. Because they're both in black and white. It gives it more drama for me.
@@retrosuperheroart2202 Tho tbh I can think of Mayday and the Spider girls I mentioned to sing 'Spinning the Wheel' by George Michael while looking so moody.
Very good question, but I don't think so. Many of the worlds best artists (including Moebius) used reference like movie pictures. And some artists notoriously "look at" other artists work. You can watch my video: 'Roger Cruz NOT JUST the POOR MAN’s JOE MAD !' to see how I feel about that and where I draw the line. I used to feel kind of guilty for using reference, but I don't anymore.
Kinda all artists use references. Maybe not Jack Kirby but, for the most part they all do, unless it's something they already drew like 1000 times, then you don't need a ref for it. Example is, if you never drew batman before, you'd need to look at pictures of batman. But if you already drew a few batman comics, you would probably remember his details. Works that way for all things.
Sure, good old google image search ;-) I used to own all these comics 30 years ago and read them so much I remember them very well. Especially the comics of my favorite artists like in this video (John Romita Junior, Mike Zeck, Andy Kubert, Todd McFarlane) I also still have a handful of my favorite books which I take pictures of.
Really regret not being able to finish my entry in time but I'll try to get next week's submitted. Everyone's art looked awesome!
Yeah, hope you can. Gonna be a fun one next week ;-)
It's great to see the number of participants growing more and more. Congrats, Retroo! :D
Yeah, I love it, so diverse and always a lot of fun to see.
@@retrosuperheroart2202 I'm so glad to see that it's working out!
@@retrosuperheroart2202 And I'm finally on school break :DDD
@@samuelvicenzo6181 Awesome! Sharpen that pencil!
@@retrosuperheroart2202 It's already sharpened :)
This is a really good episode, I like the rain discussion.
Thank you, I'm glad its helpful.

Yes, he was the master of those moody scenes. Alleys in the rain and those awesome Spirit opening shots.
HAHAHA MY MARV, BIG THANKS!
Thanks for joining! Hope you can join the next one as well.
All were good!
Thanks for watching!
👍👍 Thank you.
My pleasure!
great stuff
Thank you!
Rain is my favorite cliche of every visual media 🍷🗿
Hey it's even in the Batman VS Superman showdown in the movie ;-)
Raindrops keep falling on my head~
Jokes aside..guess I should make some rain art too.
Maybe draw someone singing in the rain ;-)
@@retrosuperheroart2202 I'd like to have either Mayday, Spider Gwen or Silk doing just that. Hmmmmm.

@@ZZtheDark lol
@@retrosuperheroart2202 The song's a good set piece.
I'm learning but on procreate I can buy the rain brush though it's good to learn the traditional way 😌 👌🏻
I agree. As technology progresses the joy of doing it yourself becomes more of a part of it right?
@@retrosuperheroart2202 very true 👍🏻 the master of the pass would be telling me: you call that art? I'm not impressed.
@Leviathan1000 hehehe, lets call it our meditation mindfulness practice then
I'd love to join but i cant do digital art
That's ok, if you can print out the paper you can pencil and ink over it. I keep the blue lines light especially for that. Hope you can join!
3:34 I thought blade then punisher
hehe, Yeah Blade's another great trenchcoat. Forgot about him.
6:40 Wouldn't looking at pictures be cheating?

Exactly, like using a toy model of a car to see what the bottom looks like etc.
Can u tell me where u find all these great references ? And what artists are for these comic books?

Nice Grifter, definitely looking forward to the next challenge by the way how’s the progress with that book project of yours coming up?
Thanks! I am working on it, but it'll take a bit longer than I initially thought.. Thanks for remembering!
