Some asshat stole my 2 guitars and amp out of my car and left me without the thing ive done for 15 years. Im crushed because rn, times be tough and dont have money to buy a guitar. Can i have one of your budget guitars from recent vids? I hate to beg online but i'm shooting my shot regardless lol.
When doing these videos you should really be using a starter amp instead of a plug-in because not many beginners are going to get a computer program for an amp.
I bought a Schecter Omen 6 in 2010 and still have it now. It's unrecognizable because of all the mods, but it's an amazing guitar to play. Then I got a C-8 Deluxe in 2018 and out of the box it had no flaws, aside from needing a setup. Schecter makes good stuff.
@@Johnnywayne5302 The strings on it weren't to my liking, plus I have my guitars looked at by a luthier so they all play perfectly for me. I like light strings and low action, that's not what you're gonna get from the factory.
Best thing I ever did for my own guitar playing sanity was rolling up my sleeves and learned to set up my own guitars. Saved me money and the last guitar I paid to get set up I really wasn't happy with the work (Gotoh 510 wasn't floating properly / cost me $60!!!). Taylor's advice here is what all new guitarists should listen to.
I picked up a made in South Korea 2005 Schecter Diamond C1awhile back for $150. The person I bought it from had paid for a setup and it plays like butter. There is something to be said about any guitar that is made in South Korea. I have never came across one that wasn't top notch quality for the price.
Real talk, that rosewood fretboard has one of the coolest grain patterns I’ve seen. Shame that it came in such a rough shape, because on paper, it looks like the perfect budget guitar. The contours and the finish look surprisingly high-end. Great demo as always!
Yeah, that board is really cool looking. I bought one of the $199 Jackson 7 strings years ago and its maple board has flame in it. Was pleasantly surprised with that.
yeah they have quality control issues. i bought a omen elite multi 7 string. its a 800 guitar. it came with extremely high action and needed a fret dressing. when i got it back it still had high action issues with the bridge bottomed out. i had to wind up putting a shim to angle the neck a little more. it is now one of my favorite guitars to play.
When I first started playing guitar about 18 months ago, I barely new how to change strings. Now, I’m currently scalloping a neck and refinishing a body while recrowning some frets on my Samick. You can learn how to do anything with enough time and effort.
I love Schecter but unfortunately, I've had to get used to receiving unplayable guitars. One was even missing the ground cable to the bridge. In my experience with Schecter and a certain store that claims to inspect the instruments before they leave the store, neither claim seems to be true. If you want a Schecter, get your tools ready.
Just learned this for myself recently. Bought one because I needed a sustaniac for something and thought hey why not its fun. No… NO it has not been. I’m on my second one now. The first one had connection issues in the pickup switch. The second… The damn switch fell apart on the inside and now all the switch does is wiggle back and forth. It is rediculous for the price of the guitar. I’m unfortunately in a position where I can not do my own tech work since I’m about 70% blind. I can do many a thing. Figured out how to set up a Floyd Rose by feel. Figured out a few fun things. But htis is out of my ability and honestly I’m done with it! Shecter needs to get their QC under control because this is rediculous
I own a Schecter Omen Extreme 6 and a Hellraiser C VI bass. Both came with the sticker on the back, both had impeccable intonation and set up. They're an absolute absolute joy to play. Even Glenn from SpectreSoundStudio loves them for how good they set up their guitars and he's a hard man to please. Not sure what went wrong with the deluxe you demoed here however I'm glad you enjoyed playing it brother 🤘
I have a Schecter E1 Special Edition figured maple Purpleburst, with Sustainiac, Apocalypse VI bridge, FR1500/Hot RoD, Luminlays and Ebony FB with SS frets and Block inlays with white triple bound and CARBON FIBER BINDING! Its by far the best guitar have ever played or owned. I have had Jackkson, LTD, Ibanez, Fender, etc... high end Schecters are amazing! ( it was like $1600)
Wow didn’t know that. After playing Schecters almost exclusively for a while I bought my first LTD this year and I was surprised at how similar it felt to my Schecters.

The guitar is absolutely amazing to play . I would say someone didn't do their job at Schecter before they signed off on the checklist or possibly it got shaken up during shipping and the neck shifted a little bit ??? Great video! I bought a Schecter E1 special edition satin candy apple red used in great condition for $850 and it's an awesome guitar. It's as good as my more expensive guitars.
6:23 dude i have same problem with pickups height screw on the Scheter Reaper for 800$. Its just locked, i dont know who set this. Also there is many videos about poor Schecter QC even on the top models like km-6 mk3 hybrid \ artist and other Schecters above 1000$.
I always liked Schecters, they still can be and were one of the best used values on the market. Especially the early 00s ones. I haven’t even punched a wall while shotgunning my energy drink of choice (today) but it’s early
If you did not did it yet, you can try the Sonic Stratocaster with one humbucker only. Mine came very well setup. It's a weird bridge. It's a hardtail but it's not string thru body. The HSS Sonic has a standard stratocaster bridge.
I have an old C1 Hellraiser that I bought used maybe 10 years ago to have a beater laying around at a different location. I didn't expect to like it but it plays great and just has a thing, so I kept it.
Schecter makes some quality instruments, and after owning 5 of them, i can say despite some pretty garish aesthetic choices back in the 00s, they've always been rock solid in quality and playability. I have seen the occasional dud, with issues similar to the twisted neck that you encountered, but it's pretty rare and does happen occasionally with mass produced instruments.
My old 2008 Schecter Damien V has those beveled edges, satin black paint job, but it has the black abalone falling bat inlay. It also came stock with passive EMG's.
I have what I believe to be that same Schector c6 Deluxe & a floyd model (FR) with coil splitting. I LOVE my matte black Schector & my floyd model is pretty awesome to. Personally, I Love Japanese guitars/Westone & the bendmaster trem system. I grew up on a 1986 Westone Spectrum LX. I currently have a Westone Sx & the fine tune knobs turn butter smooth.I love my Schector's as well...
The first guitar I spent my own money on was a schecter 006 deluxe in like 06 or 07. It was affordable for a 19 year old with a shit job, and with updated pickups it was great.
my main guitar is a schecter demon 6 and it was under 600 Cad. I put on goto locking tuners but the tuning stability wasn't an issue. love it, only issue is its heavy, but I sit mostly so no big deal. They make good cheap guitars. and came perfect out of the box.
I got a shecter C-6 Pro a few months ago because I thought it looked absolutely gorgeous. Unfortunately when it arrived it was absolutely unplayable. The frets were rusted and it had a severe grounding issue. (This was bought brand new) It had a crazy amount of feedback and there was also more string noise then the springs on a trem bridge. Just be careful when buying things online. And if you do buy just make sure there's a change of mind return policy, as I was unable to return any other way.
I recently got an Omen 8 Multi Scale which is going for $750. You're not going to get the same thrill as opening up a nice Fender hard case and being hit with that Fender smell. But it's pretty decent. Biggest complaint I had was that pickups were pretty anemic. I got Bare Knuckle to make me an Aftermath at the right angle, and it's a lot better.
I think so, too. All in all, this is not confidence inspiring and does not make for an enjoyable or fun experience. Sadly, because this reflects on their whole lineup.
What do we as musicians expect from a cheap guitar? There will be issues with the cheap ones,i had almost zero issues w the jackson js22,only the bridge needed to be lowered so its playable, now? Good to go
I have a shecter demon 7 and mine came wrong from factory because it's really good. The neck is a bit unconfortable but else that is surpisingly good. The Duncan design active pickups are great.
I like their more workhorse style guitars, I used to have the Omen 8 in walnut and it was a good guitar, but I wanted one with a longer scale length. I can't say I'm a fan of their more flamboyant guitars though, the ones with flamed/quilted maple tops and covered in abalone. But thats true of other brands too.
I have several Schecter guitars in my collection IMO their budget friendly stuff is better than most mid range guitar and as good as some higher end guitars. I buy most of my guitars used and for really great prices. Pretty much all but one was under $150.00 and that includes a 7 string avenger. The one I paid a little over 200 bucks for was really new that someone returned not sure why it was mint.
Had an omen elite. Like 499$. Pretty awesome guitar. Loved the feel of it and it had great pickups. Something that had a passive feel with active chunk. You could play anything with it. Good all around guitar for relatively cheap. Don't know if you did a video on it already. If you haven't it would be a good one to review. Definitely enjoy watching these clips.
Mine was pretty much perfect when I got it secondhand on market place, and I don’t think the last guy had to do much if anything to get it playing right, I wonder if you just happened to get a bad one
Can you try sterling Axis by musicman ax3s black. An original, classic design that is familiar to all fans of great guitars, the Sterling By Music Man AX3 traces its roots to the Music Man Axis, the venerable single cutaway guitar that took the scene by storm in the early 90’s. The Sterling by Music Man Axis features a 5-way selector, asymmetrical neck, and vintage style tremolo.
Glad i recently lucked into a 1999 transparent blue C-7 for $400 with a high end aircraft case. Looks like it has been in case and unused most of its life.
I have owned a diamond series Damien, a reaper 7 ms, and a sls elite fr. I have love all of them. One complaint was the weight of and thickness of the neck in the Damien. But all were more than worth the money.
I used to have schecter C1 Demon6 with the seymore duncan blackout pups. Solid peice of kit was my flagship guitar that I bought when I was 15. bought second hand for 150gbp, best money I spent on a guitar. As for cheapest shecter, maybe got to their "beginner/budget" line called "SGR" they have a C1 model in there currently its almost 100$ cheaper than this deluxe model
I primarily play bass now, but held onto my Demon 7 Diamond Series. I still play it from time to time. One thing that stands out to me is it’s barely ever out of tune, it holds like crazy. I always set up all my own instruments. I like them to be very specific to how I like to play. Especially when it comes to action hight and intonation. I like lots of tension on my strings and for them to be as close as possible to the frets without any buzz. That’s based on how I play though lol I’m pretty hard and aggressive, loose floppy strings are just a big no for me.
I've bought a cheaper Schecter, not exactly an SGR but just above that category. It had the same issue. The setup was more than lacking but after that was done, it turned out to be a very nice guitar to play.
I have a Demon 6 (in the edgy Guitar Center exclusive black cherry burst) I got back in 2015 and I definitely agree with not having a TOM style bridge. Though mine didn't have any locking issues, I had to slap foam underneath because it was really noisy, otherwise killer guitars! Also if you want something skinnier than the thin C I highly recommend trying a Reaper 6! I have one with Seymour Duncan Jupiters and Hipshot locking tuners and it plays like butter!
Hellos, I’m a very beginner- I got a ‘budget’ guitar. Would you ever do a video for very beginners on how to set up, things to look for in beginner terms and why, how to change strings (do they need to be changed when you get it?), how fix frets .. etc.. you used language in this that I feel was more advanced and assuming acknowledge so it was a little hard to follow and made me more worried about what could be wrong with my guitar that I don’t know is an issue. Thank you
Hey man love your vids always watch them before heading off to school, bought a schecter guitar today Omen elite 6FR what would u rate it, hope your well.
Schecter necks are massive on most 7s and 8s and even the C9.. wide too. Some models offer comfort but mostly it has been really hard to play.. there is no reason to own one other than diamond c9
I had this model and after awhile, some QC issues started showing. The dealer I buy from took it back and refunded my money because a few other people were bringing theirs back as well with the same problems. He was even considering being a dealer but changed his mind. It was a shame, because I liked the guitar but not enough to invest in what it needed to make it what should have been.
Something shrill sounding about that new microphone. A little thin and treble-ly, maybe your usual Mesa cab sweet spot doesn't match well with the new mic? P.S. - I don't know why you're still feigning the string noise issue with TOM's! All you gotta do is put some foam under the strings or a Jimmy Clip! It's like complaining about spring noise from a vibrato system when we all know the usual fixes. Keep on Rocking everyone! \m/
So I’m always here hollering Firefly but I’m actually a Schecter guy. I’ve just never really tried any of their affordable models… affordatar… lolol but I can vouch for their Korean mid/upper tier models. They are absolutely sick. Hey the c414.. one of my favorite mics it’s great to blend with a 57 on guitars.
I got a Schecter Omen Elite in the Charcoal color this year and its been such a fun guitar to play. The burl top looks amazing, seriously if you havent seen one google it real quick... they are super nice looking. Mine came with a pretty good setup already, or at least something I was content with, so I just went with it. I actually prefer playing this over my Gibson LP Classic. Would be interesting to get your thoughts on a slightly better model than the one in this video to see if spending a few dollars more gets you something better out of the box.
I wish Saxophones were like guitars, the "cheap" guitars around 300 dollars are usually good and lasts for a longwhile for beginners unless you are throwing them around recklessly which can't be said for Saxophones 😕
I have a bit of a CHunker neck on my E1 but the flat finish helps the speed and its not like an old LP or Explorer. I used to PLay WizardII Ibanez necks so If I can handle a more full C its fine...
I own a Schecter SGR C-7, its even cheaper, but it's pretty ok for its price, sounds good too. Not in the greates shape but I still manage keeping it intact :D
I am sure that the nut on that is plastic as well. Another item that is fairly common on the budget guitars. Always a good way to upgrade a budget guitar. Hell, a lot of guitars around 1000$ have plastic nuts.
Get their first run s g r prototype c1 The ones that came after that are crapThe first runs on the used market Are awesome and the necks are so shreddable
Schecter do some really great value guitars. Try the Sunset Extreme. Ibanez/others will charge you a lot more for those specs. I've never bought the very bottom cheapest ones, but I've bought the intermediates and expensives, and they have been quite good with no issues. Schecter used to be a pickups company, their pickups are always great.
I love Schecter guitars!! I had a see through black C-1 Platinum that I absolutely loved and seriously cried when I had to sell it to pay a fu*+ing bill. I'll get another one some day.
I started with a 200 dollar Jackson then bought a 200 dollar Ibanez, both were fine but I didn’t know better cause I had never owned a “nice” guitar at that point but I eventually got the Schecter C6 elite and that guitar made me want to play it all the time. Everything about it was so much better than any other beginner guitar I tried. I’m bummed about the issues you encountered because mine was flawless and I never touched it setup wise up to the day I sold it, hopefully this was a one off issue 🤷♂️

I had a white 7 string version of this, I threw a nazgul in the bridge and called it a day. It was fantastic
What is your opinion on harley benton? 300+ dollars would be smack in the middle of their range.
every time i open your video it instant stank face, your playing is so Good and Great video
Dude, you should look up what a dual action truss rod is and how it works. You'll get why it is tightening while you are trying to loosen it.
I own the Demon 7, c1 platinum, and reaper custom 6. Hands down my favorite guitars and brand.
My Schecter SVSS in Lambo Orange completely one me over with Schecters. It’s probably my favorite guitar I have.
But all were more than worth the money.
schecter has been there for me for 20 years now. one of the few brands i fanboy for just bit
You're pretty cool. Subbed
My first electric guitar was this one in electric blue. Still is one of my favourite guitars!
Taylor should test a Leo Jaymz guitar, the Tempest model, or a steve brown sound superstrat next!!
@@Pyro_inflation_incident no idea, never played one!
Still sounds legit!!
TOM’s are far better than hard tails for feel on the palm!
@@burtsgurt How do you mean?
I have the silver 6 string hard tail and I love it.
I own a Schecter SGR C-7, its even cheaper, but it's pretty ok for its price, sounds good too. Not in the greates shape but I still manage keeping it intact :D
I have the 7 strings version. I like it. It's a solid 7 strings.
I’ve been playing a 2002 C-+ Diamond Series since 2011-2012…
Prs is one you should try out there customs are nice
I have a white c-6 deluxe. It's awesome.
I am sure that the nut on that is plastic as well. Another item that is fairly common on the budget guitars. Always a good way to upgrade a budget guitar. Hell, a lot of guitars around 1000$ have plastic nuts.
My platinum 6 is the best guitar i’ve ever played. But my cheaper 7 string needed a lot of work to get playing. Just like the one in the video.
That Keith Merrow guitar is so badass. 👽💜
plugged into your Boss Katana Head Gen 3.
9:12 when are we getting an m-vave blackbox profiler demo/review 😊?
I started with a 200 dollar Jackson then bought a 200 dollar Ibanez, both were fine but I didn’t know better cause I had never owned a “nice” guitar at that point but I eventually got the Schecter C6 elite and that guitar made me want to play it all the time. Everything about it was so much better than any other beginner guitar I tried. I’m bummed about the issues you encountered because mine was flawless and I never touched it setup wise up to the day I sold it, hopefully this was a one off issue 🤷♂️
2:25 😂 15 shillings 😂
Dude...that amp sounds fucking SICK even with that cheap o guitar...that tells me it is DEFINITELY my shitty amp that is holding me back despite having a ESP/LTD H-1001 FR now and not a Epiphone Special SG anymore
Bought a schecter reaper 6 recently thing plays beautifully sounds great but the neck pickup had to be screwed down tightly as it keep coming loose and then my single coil knob kept popping off but some tape worked along with adjusting the bridge a bit, for $800 a bitch but I still love it and recommend it
SLS FS Evil Twin is the most badass guitar I've ever had.
i hated Schecter because of all the bands but lately ive been wanting this dark korn, coal chamber sounds for some new sounds i own a solar but the omen elite has such a great sound
I appreciate the shout-out. thanks.
i got a c1 sls elite on guitar center used for 800 bucks and i love it.
I own 7 schecters and there is no better bang for the buck except for maybe firefly.....that being said most of them are around the 700-1000 range.....from my personal xp get a schecter made in south korea......i only have one Indonesian made and its the sun valley super shredder.....all others ive sent back....its the factory qc from my xp......
The sls elite is god tier
I have a cheap schecter and it’s my guilty pleasure that I pick up the most out of my guitars if I only have a little bit of time to play.
Good Lord! Hearing specs I’d have to ask what’s not to like?
