The only screw up Chevy did with the C4500 was discontinuing it and bring in a pickup cab ten years later.

Nice. I like the versions of all these trucks from the 90s better though.

I work for a local school district. We had these trucks and the 2005 f450. The ford would work circles around the c4500. They were crap for pushing snow. Every snow storm one would drop a transmission. The f 450 would just keep on going with out problems

Crap????,how are you going to say that an F450 truck, the same as a f350 but stronger,is going to outrun a big truck? :v

The F750 is the truck you should be comparing this truck too, not a pickup size truck,,this makes no sense!

They're both class 4 trucks with similar towing/payload ratings, so it's fair.

Yeah but the F450 is not consider a medium duty truck it’s a 3 quarter ton truck. The ford F650 and 750 are medium duty truck classification so jimmy is right about it.

The 8.1 big block and 6.6 Duramax of the day were far better engines than Ford’s crappy 5.4 and 6.8 Tritons and the steaming dog turd that was the 6.0 Powerstroke… Ford developed the Scorpion themselves after the two consecutive International crap-fests that were the 6.0 and the 6.4, and Ford got it right… that being said, Ford’s 5 speed auto back then was a solid transmission. It’s interesting to hear GM give props to the pros of the Ford trucks in this video, though.

Actually AVL in Austria was heavily involved in the design of the 6.7 Powerstroke. It's based on the earlier 4.4 L V8 diesel Ford made for the Range Rover. The 6.7 is an obviously European design, with things like the plastic oil pan and air-water CAC.

That 6.0 train wreck was not all Navistar's fault. The engine was a Ford design that Navistar said would not work. Ford pressed the issue forcing Navistar to build the engines, which resulted in the engine failures, resulting lawsuits and finger pointing.

What a bizarre comparison! Nobody would cross shop these trucks (c4500 vs. F-450). Why wouldn't look for ford's medium duty, commercial chassis trucks? Aftermarket companies make an F-550/ F-650, which would have been a legitimate comparison. This chevy has a power tilting dump box for God's sake! This is comparing a unimog to an s-10, because both are exercises in pointless, apples to cheese comparisons. Pulling weak crap like this just makes one look like their afraid to compete on equal terms, with their competitive equals. Like a heavy weight defending their belt in the ring against a ballerina. Or bullying a midget when your on a football scholarship. 😂

This is a fair comparison both trucks are class 4, they have similar gvwr’s along with very similar towing and payload capacity’s, in addition their engines compete in the same class. Also what advantage does the Kodiak get from the dump bed, you could put one one the f450.
