  • Does your Briggs and Stratton engine turn over slowly?
    Does it refuse to ignite?
    Do you only hear clicks when you try to start your engine?
    Does it seems like the battery is empty?
    It can actually more than likely be the valves that are out of sync.

      go to B&S website and look up valve clearance for your engine model

    been trying to set my valves on my 16.5HP Briggs powerbuilt engine just like in the video.. after i set them i get one good start then same issue with lag crank.. any ideas?

      Maybe seat the valves ?

      I know that this is a late reply and don't know if you still have the engine. But more times than not, it'll be the compression release mechanism that has failed. You'll have to replace the camshaft. Just as long as there's no other internal damage.

      James Hubert Hello. The top dead centre is where the piston is on its top position. :)
