So glad you were finally able to do your review of the Type S. I've been waiting for your comments. You guys always do a great job with your honest impressions. This car is getable at msrp, and there are Acura dealerships that sell at sticker. I got on a dealer list on 6/8 and was 7th on their list. They sold their demo on 7/24 and I moved up to 5th. Got a call they were delivered a surprise Type S in white/red and was mine if I wanted it, because those in front of me wanted other colors. I jumped on it and finished the deal msrp and accessories I wanted...spoiler, mirror caps. The car is being delivered to me in the Bay Area on Monday, 8/7 from Nebraska.
Congratulations!!....You are lucky... All the Acura dealers near me wanted between $5-7k over MSRP. So I ended up buying a TLX Type S for 57K. Same price as I would have spent for an Integra Type S, but it's bigger, standard AWD, 35 more HP and 44 more lb-ft torque with a super smooth V6. The TLX Type S is a great everyday driver and a blast to drive hard.
@@RAR-wg5jw Congrats to you too. I also considered the TLX Type S, because of the same reasons. But, I wanted a stick and the power to weight ratio is appealing. Going to Integra Forums really helped how to navigate the purchase.
Love how Zack tells Andrea to slow down because of cops but Andrea just continues smashing the pedal and yanking the steering wheel😂. It's time to add it to your garage Andrea!
Sounds like an entertaining car. I have drifted away from Honda/Acura after being a real fan early on. They really mis-read the room when it comes to feature inclusion and accessories for the price. You did a great job of elaborating on the senseless omissions that fit with the price and type of vehicle.
I agree with Zach about the tailpipes layout. The Integra should have distinguished itself with a more mature look for older buyers by not copying the boy racer tail pipes from the CTR.
50K in the US (if you can find one) and no rear seat armrest, no seat memory for the driver and a manual passenger seat!! Are they kidding!! Great review guys 👍👍
I have a 21 Accord Sport SE. And msrp was $30,000, and for that it comes with rear seat charging. And five passenger seating with arm rests in the back. With the Integra Type S being $20,000+ over a comparable 23 Accord. There is NO EXCUSE for omitting rear seat usb charging. And only 4 passenger seating. Nothing but cost cutting going on.💯
Acura can keep the price the same if you wish, but give us memory driver's cooled seat, power passenger cooled seat, sunroof, 3 seat rear heated bench with arm rest, and rear air vents INCLUDED!
You can't install rear vents as there no room because of the manual shifter that's why Honda axed it. It's a small car why the hell do you need rear vents. The only one that can use them are CVT Civics and Integras because they have space in the middle console
@@robertblack6630 Fair enough on the vents. Still disappointing to me the sunroof, power passenger seat and rear USB ports and arm rest aren’t an option

Brian Maske 4. You guys - Motormouth It's good to just hear prices & quirks about cars that're unique to the Canadian environment
Straight Pipes were good the 1st year then they sold out hard. Throttle House are on their way there too. Basically all goofy entertainment and falling in love with very expensive cars for clicks, very few of their viewers can afford.
I just had to see the first part. Poor ole Zak's grip trying to now get tighter on any grab point and Andrea's devious grin after hitting the throttle. So funny! You Go Girl.
It looks great and is very appealing, but as expensive as this car is for what it is, they sure cut some corners. The lack of a spare tire, no rear center armrest, and no cooled front seats are not excusable for a luxury branded version of what is essentially an economy car with go-fast parts. I agree about the trumpet exhaust tips. I think it would look more becoming of this luxury branded version if it had a single large horizontal exhaust split into 3 ports.
I've own Honda Accords since 1995! Stepped up to the Honda Accord V-Tech V6 in 2006. Then I needed to move from Honda to Acura to keep the V6 in a Sedan. I'm thrilled with my 2018 TLX A-Spec V6 Red Edition FWD. This car takes no prisoners, except in 2023 it's showing tech update issues. The onboard GPS (no matter the update) is just bad. I've had to use a Garmin DriveSmart 65 with Traffic or my phone to be accurate on my Acura. The only additional item the vehicle could use is a heated steering wheel currently priced at $500 plus installation. Maybe for Canadian winters, but not for NY/NJ/CT winters. A taller driver, I'm 5'8", to see the front end. I sometimes "hit" the passenger's side mirror pulling into my very tight two-car garage. But, this car just loves the open road. Yes Acura suggests the higher octane gas, but this engine gets better MPG (+30 mpg) the faster it goes (according to onboard MPG calc). Otherwise, this car is great everyday I drive it. I did make one major change before I took us on our first driving trip. I tossed the tire repair kit in favor of a spare tire & jack that fits in the well under the floorboard in the trunk. I thought a spare tire would be safer long term than the kit. Yes even with the added weight in the rear. I did choose FWD over AWD. It just "felt" quicker to me.
All the Acura dealers near me wanted between $5-7k over MSRP. So I ended up buying a TLX Type S for 57K. Thank you for reviewing the Integra type S. I agree with Zack that the base Integra should have more horsepower. I think the base model should have the Honda K20 C4 engine in it that has around 270 hp, which is also found in 10 generation Honda Accords, the current Acura TLX, and the current Acura RDX. This would have made a lot of sense, as well as pairing that with the 10-speed automatic and not that dreaded CVT. The trumpets in the back look ridiculous but since they are functional I'll give it a pass. I also agree with Andrea that it should have had five seats. Simply because the base model has five seats as well. Andrea was spot-on about the missing seat, but will the Type S owner will care more about missing luxury features. It's an Acura product, and it should have upgraded features like ventilated seats, a moonroof at least if not a panoramic roof, and some of the other niceties found in other Acura products. this car does improve the Acura brand and does bring something back from the past. I hope that Acura continues to build on this platform and produce a more feature laiden Integra in the future. And Acura if you are list ING, put the K20C4 in the base integra with the 10 speed, or even the 8 speed dct. Thanks again for the review motormouth, I definitely enjoyed it!
I think the car looks great, including the exhaust tips! It IS a bit pricey though, not a lot more to get it’s big brother the TLX S-Type, which is on my radar to purchase.
I think Andrea likes this one ! 🙂. It is like the grown up version of the Honda civic…… I like the red interior 👍. Yes, the exhaust tips would look better without the flared tips……just straight cut or slash cut
Tried to get a Type R and couldn't. Waited 9 months and got an Si for msrp. I have a great dealer, but despite me begging to get on a list for the Civic Type R, they won't take my money! I've been told that when the reservation book opens up, I'll get a call 😅. Truly crazy times we're living in!
Nice review you guys. I must say the Golf R 20th anniversary for the money is the winner hands down. Acura with its fake leather, no rear arm rest, no sunroof, no memory passenger power seat, ect.... And and $65000.00 Canadian price tag if you're lucky 🤦🤦🤦
I was a huge fan of the Acura Legend and the Integra. But for the Integra, it was only the first two generations. I never liked, despite having a limited drive in a friend’s 3rd gen white (typical!) Type R… or the fourth generation either. This latest (5th gen), I finally like what they’ve done with it… which odd, because I hate the latest Honda Type R. Weird. Thanks for the inspiring video. Worthy of note: I was looking at renting a motorcar in Portugal next year for a week or two (to Italy) for scouting out some properties, and I noticed that nearly every car for hire (rental) was an honest to goodness manual transmission! I was so surprised and … absolutely thrilled. Cheers.
I have a type R coming in November hopefully, here in Ontario...but I like this more, sound system, exhaust, looks, better ride, interior etc...too bad its made in America and not japan like the type R... I wonder which one will be more desirable to collecters in 20 years?
I test drove an Integra and found the seats were very cheap feeling. Firm, small, and sweaty. Would personally get the CTR just for the glorious seats.
I like the trumpets! -) I have the Integra Aspec 6MT great car. It's quick enough. I The boy racer in me wants the TypeS. But you nailed the price gouging
I love what this car does to women. They go just as hard as dudes on the throttle. 🤘🏾 Love it. 🤘🏾 Honestly, I really dig this car. It’s so much more than the base Integra.
Thanks for the amazing video. I couldn't watch the video until the end. It made my heart ache to see such a perfect thing and not be able to purchase it. In my country it is not sold and even with the highest taxes in the world in Israel. or the tallest in the world.
Base integra should get the accords hybrid tuned to 240 and six speed manual. This will seperate it from the SI and upcoming civic hybrid with 190 hp. Honda knows how to do a manual hybrid. They have done 2 already.
Great shots of the type S. Great shots of Andria. Ok but Mrs B is only going to stand for the Integra hanging up in the garage. I would say it can't hurt to ask for both. Im afraid it could. It could hurt a lot.
Just share my opinion as an automotive engineer... First, you two are a cute couple.. Zack, a lot of cars guys have a penchant for wrist watches and I notice you like them as well as a man of taste although that chrono wouldn't be my chrono of choice personally. Zack, the trumpets in back are fine. Distinctive without being obtrusive and functional. If you really want to get down, you can modify the valving...the big valve in back for more sound as some Type R owners do....essentially the same car with a bit more gingerbread. As to the car.... With cars is comes down to cost/benefit or most of us would be in a Bentley or Ferrari. This car at its price point isn't worth it if you factor in dealer mark up. A 3.0 liter twin turbo at this price point and now we are talking. Most knowledgeable car enthusiasts would rather have an Audi RS3 or BMW at this price point. Is it a good car? Yes. Is it worth the price? No. Me personally, speaking of 'mature drivers' that have been privileged to own and drive just about everything, I would rather have a 'lower performance' V6 Lexus ES350 with about the same horsepower but with much better ride, NVH, materials, and of course a brand of greater prestige, at the 'same price'. I have owned a lot of manual shift cars. Their +'s are as many as their -'s.
My first car was a used 6 speed 92 integra. It was a black 4 door sedan with black leather seats. This car brings back great memories. If the 92 version had 5 seats, why did Acura not offer it with this gen? Thanks for the wonderful review!
remember when cars like these were affordable for the young? I was in my 20s and trying to decide between this or the 240sx or the Celica. Heck, I remember going to A&B Sound and looking at the latest and greatest stereo and alarm system I was going to install before even getting the car.
That time didn’t really exist because this car is the fastest Civic/Integra that has ever existed. Matter of fact, this is the fastest FWD car ever. Car prices are very inflated, but that is true of almost all cars due to many factors. If speed is not critically important, then the Civic Si/Integra A-Spec are also great cars for a lot less money, at least if you can find one without dealer markups.
IMO the MK8 GTI Performance is one of the best daily drivers, 240hp on “regular” fuel, you get all the niceties from the Golf R, HUD, ventilated front seats, heated tears and 3 zone climate, DCC, and I got mine for MSRP. If I want 300hp I’d get stage 1. With the DSG this car is plenty quick, and I have nice sunroof!
@@robertblack6630 you want to talk nightmares, having your Honda serviced constantly for brakes and what not is a nightmare, my third GTI and trading my last one for a civic, I couldn’t wait to get back into a VW again.
It’s looks like a sport car than combine both family and sport car. Good looking tho but lack of features for the price so high! Great video Andrea! ☕️☕️
Another great review! I would have expected more luxury content than other Integras, not less. On the vinyl seats, it should be noted that many luxury brands have fancy names for their version of vinyl seats, and they’re often very hard to tell apart from the non-vegan options.
Zack complaining about the exhaust tips and that the base Integra should have been like the type S is just nuts!! We always had base then GS-R and Type R with higher outputs/performance.
Living in southeast Florida where the roads are constantly flooding, hell no I ain't ever buying a car with four inches of ground clearance, or even less than seven, again!
Andrea watch there’s cops! 🤣🤣🤣 I do agree with Zack on the tail pipes I’d prefer just two on each end and I’d be good. Overall great car!! Great review!!
The value proposition just isn't there with this Type S. The price premium of the Type R is out of proportion and you're still missing some features you would expect with a premium nameplate. The Type R is a better value and a more honest hot hatch.
Trumpets? Those are cannons. I think that exhaust is sexy as hell. And btw, I would never choose the Golf over the Integra. I can't get behind the argument of horsepower for any car that looks like a space shuttle was decapitated. That said, I do agree in my own disappointment with the lack of ventilated and memory seats and sunroof, and I cannot fathom for the life of me why they would remove the middle back seat without giving an arm rest. But, at the end of the day, it really is an absolutely amazing car and even at that price point, that manual transmission is EVERYTHING.
Sure seems like Acura wants to sell this as a performance 'GT' car. I can't understand why they omitted so many interior niceties (as the video mentions). I also have trouble getting my head around $60k for a turbo 4-popper.
Love the channel. I can not understand 3 of the cars you chose for the other considerations. The CTR is quite obvious, but the 3 other are AWD. The Golf R is a hatch, and even though they are calling this a "hatch", its really more of a sedan. Wouldn't the Elantra N be a more direct competitor?
Spot on. They only compare the Golf R to this and the CTR, because of the price. But the Golf R is just the better driveline, it being AWD. And it’s also CHEAPER than both this and the CTR. So really makes me question why I would ever buy this Integra Type S, or CTR? All this talk of these “premium” things the Integra Type S has. LOL! Almost every car has these same premium components! There’s nothing special about them! It’s all marketing. I think anyone buying this car, and the CTR, is an idiot. Way too expensive for what you get.
Great looking car, ggood power and run to drive. At this price point Needs rear air vents, middle seat, and maybe memory driver seat and power passenger seat
Bought the first Integra new and drove it for a dozen years. Loved it, however, today I think I’d rather get the new Mustang. The 80s me would be shocked!
I wish they had remove that cup holder in the back seats. Acura could have made this integra type S better by putting a sunroof and make it a 5 seater.
IF you can get this at MSRP, DO IT! This car will hold value over the years and if you get bored and it's time to sell you will get most of your money back, assuming that you took care of it and didn't wrack up a lot of miles. This one is a no brainer.
Ran away from the RS3 because of the markups and wait times. I had a deposit on one and the dealership had no allocations for the year I was on the list and wasn’t looking at getting something that might support 2025 delivery. It is “the car” but if you can get one, at a reasonable price, and maybe in a reasonable timeframe.
So you guys forgot elantra n that compares with this performance wise and is as good if not better at track environment ? I think that'd be a "car to consider" more than wrxs or s3 or golf because elantra is front wheel drive with lsd and all others you mention were awd. I think price on this type s is absurdly high and with markups its twice as expensive as other cars in same category. That's a bummer.
Somehow Honda brought back the Accord Crosstour body and now everyone luvs it. It's nice that they're saving the manuals, but why can't we also save the two-door 2+2 coupes? At least as a shorter wheelbase, lighter, less expensive, more compact, sportier option?
As one of the few and perhaps the best manuals.
This will keep its value 10 years from now.

I’ll take the WRX or GTI and save 20K but nice car either way
this Car would be perfect with AWD and a 8 Speed DCT and for $ 50k you can expect it from a premium brand to get this things.
My first car was a used 6 speed 92 integra. It was a black 4 door sedan with black leather seats. This car brings back great memories. If the 92 version had 5 seats, why did Acura not offer it with this gen? Thanks for the wonderful review!
92 integra never had a 6 speed manual until the 2002 RSX type S.
Love integras my first car was a 98 type R. Should have kept it
remember when cars like these were affordable for the young?
Yeah and the nightmare of burning oil from the 2.0t engine with the expensive upkeep and terrible long term value by comparison to Honda.😂😂😂
@@robertblack6630 you want to talk nightmares, having your Honda serviced constantly for brakes and what not is a nightmare, my third GTI and trading my last one for a civic, I couldn’t wait to get back into a VW again.
I think Acura did a great job here.
Another great video. I agree with you Zach, a dual exhaust system would seem appropriate. Keep up the great work you guys.
This is a very nice car. Well done Acura.
Great review, my only point of contention is availability at MSRP in Canada. Haven't had an issue doing that at all on my new Type S.
It’s looks like a sport car than combine both family and sport car. Good looking tho but lack of features for the price so high! Great video Andrea! ☕️☕️
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed the review. It certainly is spacious for a family.
@@andreaspencer9813 you are an very welcome!
In Canada, the heated rear seats, auto seats adjustments and sunroof would've ticked all the boxes for Canadians
Another great review! I would have expected more luxury content than other Integras, not less. On the vinyl seats, it should be noted that many luxury brands have fancy names for their version of vinyl seats, and they’re often very hard to tell apart from the non-vegan options.
Cadillac is coming with this SUV escalade iq💯💯stay tuned
Zack complaining about the exhaust tips and that the base Integra should have been like the type S is just nuts!! We always had base then GS-R and Type R with higher outputs/performance.
Y’all are a good looking couple
I wonder how many times a month he says: "Andrea, there is cops up there!" 😁
There is one for sale locally with an asking price of $80 k. I would never pay that.
Buy a mid engine v8 corvette base lol.
That’s crazy! I mean, I could buy a CPO G80 M3 Competition for that price! Or C8 Vette!
@@JacesOwnWorld But I’ve seen a new M3 competition listed around $180k CAD locally. So when you look at it that way, there a $100k spread.
That is the car of the year! Plus it has the great reliability of Honda...vs the questionable reliability of the German brands.
I’ve seen the Type S selling for 2K over msrp. And the exhaust is not a deal breaker.
I can get an Audi S4 for the same price! Acura is smoking their own product.
Thanks for the great and sobering video.
This kills the boring looking s4😂
@@wongchai807 I’ll take a turbocharged 6 over a 4cylinder turbo at that price any day.
@@wongchai807 btw- an S4 goes 0-60 in 4.4
Living in southeast Florida where the roads are constantly flooding, hell no I ain't ever buying a car with four inches of ground clearance, or even less than seven, again!
Not a fan of the 3 tailpipes. I don't think I would have thought of trumpets Zack, but it just looks weird.
I don't mind the "trumpets". It's connection to the Type R is obvious and that exhaust is signature.
Andrea watch there’s cops! 🤣🤣🤣
I do agree with Zack on the tail pipes I’d prefer just two on each end and I’d be good.
Love your car reviews. How is the rear headroom? Is it adequate for normal sized adults?
Sure seems like Acura wants to sell this as a performance 'GT' car. I can't understand why they omitted so many interior niceties (as the video mentions). I also have trouble getting my head around $60k for a turbo 4-popper.
Without the middle seat in the back, I will stick with my Aspec. Acura messed up the the type S
What is exactly is rev matching? Is that a real Manual shift like the 2015 ilx?
I guess in Acura's mind what makes it a luxury car is because they say so.
Acura's are nice, but Acura is not on the level of BMW, Audi, Mercedes or even Lexus on luxury. A lot of people buy it for reliability and maintenance
Would the extra power make you more tempted to speed?
Nice reveiw bmw m2 3 4 Supra can come in manual
Love the channel. I can not understand 3 of the cars you chose for the other considerations. The CTR is quite obvious, but the 3 other are AWD. The Golf R is a hatch, and even though they are calling this a "hatch", its really more of a sedan. Wouldn't the Elantra N be a more direct competitor?
Forgot about that one, yes Elantra N.
@@JacesOwnWorldtype R/ Type S drives better than the golf R that’s what all reviewers have been saying
Great looking car, ggood power and run to drive. At this price point Needs rear air vents, middle seat, and maybe memory driver seat and power passenger seat
Hi Zach. What's that watch you are wearing in this video? Looks great! Appreciate the great reviews that you and Andrea put out.
It's the Swatch MoonSwatch called Mission to Earth.
Transmission aside, would you rather this or the TLX type s?
TLX because of SH-AWD (if transmission wasn't a consideration)
Bought the first Integra new and drove it for a dozen years. Loved it, however, today I think I’d rather get the new Mustang. The 80s me would be shocked!
and it got a giant Startrek badge at the front!!! and it is a pseudo hatchback...
The rear end looks amazing! Wish it had more ground clearance
I like the exhaust!
Andrea, fyi, leatherette is made of vinyl 😘
Yes I know but leatherette sounds so much more sophisticated
I wish they had remove that cup holder in the back seats. Acura could have made this integra type S better by putting a sunroof and make it a 5 seater.
IF you can get this at MSRP, DO IT! This car will hold value over the years and if you get bored and it's time to sell you will get most of your money back, assuming that you took care of it and didn't wrack up a lot of miles. This one is a no brainer.
I love that Andrea is always the one that gets in and gives it the goose. (The grin makes me laugh). Nice car.....
You are absolutely right about the Elantra N, totally forgot about that one. It's a great car!
Thanks for the review. Too many omissions as noted for the price. Is Zack wearing a MoonSwatch (Mission on Earth)?
Good eye
He's right...the exhaust ruins the look.
Somehow Honda brought back the Accord Crosstour body and now everyone luvs it.
It's nice that they're saving the manuals, but why can't we also save the two-door 2+2 coupes? At least as a shorter wheelbase, lighter, less expensive, more compact, sportier option?
Great review. Curious to know what Zack was wearing on wrist? Anyone recognize the watch brand/model?
I think it’s an omega moonswatch?
