  • Hey Everyone,
    Here is a quick video that shows how to de-badge your car, without damaging it! I highly recommend fishing line for this, but I showed that it is possible to use dental floss.
    Thanks for watching and do everything at your own risk!

    Hey Brian i followed your guide and it worked perfect on my F30, Floss & heatgun but at the end to remove the leftover junk i used turtle wax bug & tar remover let it sit for a couple of mins and everything came off perfectly no scratch or marks left behind!!

    I always use waxed floss. Debadged the xDrive during lunch today after 1 day of ownership. Kept it and thinking that it would make a nice keychain with a small hole drilled in it!

    Thanks for the tip. Bought an M5, but don't care for the Dinan badge that the previous owner had. I know Dinan is exclusive and all, but the M5 logo by itself looks much nicer to me.

    2nd great video I watched from you guy. Great instruction, cadence, video and audio. By the way, I removed my Harley fork reflectors by spraying with WD-40, letting it soak, then again and then hit it with the dental floss and the floss went through it like a hot knife,,,,,,a hot knife,,,,,,,yup, a hot knife through butter. Keep up the good work guy.

    You can also use automotive clay to remove those rust spots. It also leaves the finish incredibly smooth as well. I always use it before polishing. It makes the wax last a lot longer too!

      get an old credit card or ID and some goo gone I use to work at a dealership detailing the cars that we got in and that's how I got the old dealer stickers off

      +Kies Motorsports ya we used those too but not everybody is going to have those, also 2 of the dealerships I worked at were near the railroad track and the white and silver cars always had the orange spots and the one away from the track I never saw the spots so there may be some truth behind that

    Great video! Have enjoyed your instructional tips. Quick question, if I don't have a heat gun do you think a hair dryer would work? How warm or hot does it need to be to de badge? Thx

    • @KiesMotorsports
      @KiesMotorsports  8 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      +Ken Or Thanks! Yes, you can definitely do it with a hair dryer as well. As long as the emblem is on a metal surface, heat the area until it's very warm to the touch. I can't give you an exact temperature, but basically your goal is to heat the adhesive up to make it easier for the floss/fishing line to cut through. Hope this helps!

    The rust is called “rail dust” when the car was shipped it probably went on a train and as the train drives it kicks up all that hot dust off the railroad itself.

  • @BillysChannel010
    @BillysChannel010 7 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    The rust on your car is actually brake dust that comes up from your brakes. A great way to clean it off is to scrub it off with wheel acid and a clean microfiber. However, never let the wheel acid dry onto your paint. Make sure you're working with a wet surface. A clay bar will also work but will take some more force

    Everybody get those rust specks in on their car, the iron specks come from brake disks on all vehicles, in norway lot of cars use spike tyres during the winter season, maybe these allso contribute with some iron dust on the roads. a product called Iron-X removes this rust spots easily.

    It's iron. I use Griots Iron & Fallout remover. After you've washed your car simply spray it on , let it sit for about 10-15min and it will dissolve the iron and rust spots. Rinse area really well and put a light coat of wax over the area where you sprayed the remover. Carpro Iron X is another good one to use.

    those rust spots are break dust, its on every car. first do a good wash, then rub a cleaning clay over your car to remove rust spots plus this will take care of any other contaminants on the surface of the paint. Then buff and polish till your happy. other methods include doing a watered down acid wash, that will remove rust spots also.CAR BRIGHT makes a good clay, and you'll need some body shine also, to use as a lubricant for the clay.

    So, just to be clear, people do this because they can't afford a "higher tier" BMW, so, they buy a "lower tier" one, and are ashamed of it, so, they take off the badges for this reason??

    • @KiesMotorsports
      @KiesMotorsports  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Some may, however, I'll say most (including me) do it because it looks much cleaner. No body is pretending to be an M3 by taking the badges off...
      I also have the badges off my 335...

    • @user-rh4fc2dg8e
      @user-rh4fc2dg8e 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've met SEVERAL 3 series owners who were pretending to have an M3 by buying all the bells and whistles (spoilers, and front bumpers, side skirts, diffusers, etc). I'm not saying taking off the badges is the only thing these people will do to pretend to own an M3, but it's definitely in the same ball park if you're a poser. (not saying you are a poser).
      But honestly, I've never understood that rationale - that it looks "much cleaner". In fact, I've BOUGHT some badges for some cars I've bought that didn't have them. I don't know, I think not having them takes away from the look of the car.
