song is a timeless masterpiece. The instrumentation, lyrics, and message are all timeless. this song was released in the mid 2000s yet so many aspects of it sound modern still, even the flow in the breakdown sounds modern
ALL System of a Down songs will remain timeless. They were an infinite amount of years ahead of their time when they released their first album and still are.

I'm one of those who would swear on a stack the "metal isn't for me". So I justified liking System of a Down by just not thinking of them as metal. For the longest, I thought of them as some sort of 'neo-punk' or 'hard alternative'. Yeah, I was good at fooling mysrlf. Anyway, a rose by another name....

Being a mere child when this song came out, and not understanding much about the war, it’s crazy to now see the entire media apparatus call for endless war in Afghanistan, and I finally understand what it must have been like in 2003 with Iraq.
I remember listening to this with my dad as early as 4 years old, back in 2007. its crazy how now at 17, I have a complete different perception of the song as I now understand it, yet it still gets better with every time I listen to it. there will never be another band like System of a down

democrasy shit. a lot of "self-righteous" kings of the dark ages lie on ground with his peasant soldiers but our democrat leaders of "the people" are too important for to die in a battleground. i think if the kings had oppurnity of sending kids to school after their 5 age, they'll think either monarchy is the best goverment type for human honour. but we're living in republics so we think republics are best.
Exactly. They won’t even let their family sign up for anything. Nothing. If there is a draft, guess who’s not a citizen here but are in Barbados or some other exotic place. They use dog whistle words like us and freedom and respect and we are better. Everyone wants to come to 😮America. We are just a fancy lie dressed in a beautiful facade with a silver tongue. Actually they aren’t even trying to hide it anymore. Some just come out and say it like jfk speaking of secret governments that are the ones calling the shots. It’s collapsing though and that scares me because we don’t even belong to ourselves. The autonomy they promised, was sold ages ago. Smh 😔
“You depend on our protection yet you feed us lies from from the tablecloth” real ass line too but we’re only talking about “why don’t presidents fight the way why do you always send the poor” they’re both very powerful

there's so many more bands with more talent that write WAY more complex music. Tool, Dream Theater, Metallica, Megadeth, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, just to name a few. Not saying SOAD isn't a good band but they're definitely not one of the most talented bands ever lol.
Absolutely. The ending of the song, where they abruptly stop to wear the mind control masks, reminds me of the people who were rebellious as kids, listening to SOAD or RATM and today they support Trump, oppose abortion, civil rights and call the bands they used to love anti-free speech hacks cause they no longer agree with them. It's sad.
@@puglover6113 Ah, so more unsafe abortions on the inevitable black market is good? More dead moms due to risky pregnancies is good? More trauma due to having to carry rape-babies is good? More unwanted and thus often unloved kids is good? If you say yes still, it's because you don't care about actual human well-being, you just care about restricting the freedom of women. You will never be able to "ban" abortions. You're just going to outsource them to other countries, while making those that do happen unsafe and forcing a bunch of children into families that didn't want them.

When I was 15 years old, I was laying in a bathtub ready to end my life.... I had a radio playing on the sink counter, one of those old school ones with the long antenna sticking up LOL, playing on the only rock station for El Paso Texas....95.5 klaq... I had already been a huge fan of System of a down, but sitting there in that moment, when I heard the DJ announce "and here's the newest song from System of a down, byob" come on, I stopped what I was doing, and decided I wanted to hear it, and after decided i wanted to hear it again, which back in the day meant waiting through the rotation... I really love to believe sometimes, that music saved my life, and hope it does the same for others...... For reference, I am 34 now, with children of my own, living a pretty good life ❤️ raising my little metal punk kids who are totally respectful menaces to society LMFAO😂😂😂😂 thank you for your time if you've read this, and remember, all feelings are temporary!!!!

I strongly agree with you
I'm one of those who would swear on a stack the "metal isn't for me". So I justified liking System of a Down by just not thinking of them as metal. For the longest, I thought of them as some sort of 'neo-punk' or 'hard alternative'. Yeah, I was good at fooling mysrlf. Anyway, a rose by another name....

Some people's inner voices are like this and if you've ever met a man like this they are AWESOME. I *love* my new relationship.

THEY ARE BACK!!!
th-cam.com/video/_74nVpLVn9Q/w-d-xo.html
and appearantly they are ok with war now
@ how is that? The Armenian people of Stepanakert, Shushi and other cities have been under 💣 missile attacks which are forbidden...war crimes!! ignored by the world....yea Genocide for a month and a half NON Stop and you call it pro-war? Let us see you have bombs dropped on your house for months and check your attitude. To boot, Azerbaijan is creating false news and bribing news agencies to report only news favorable to their genocidal policy. You should rediscover the point of the music. Self Defense against genocide by ISIS is not ProWar.

Anuway soad is dead now for me. Bunch of hipos

Truely timeless
Six years ago, I would visit this video to wake up my daughter for high school. Now I'm doing it again for my son. I love it when a tradition continues.
