Holy shit, this blew up! I honestly wasn’t expecting this video to do as well as it has, and in just a day no less. I want to say thank you to everyone for being so nice in the comments. I was trying to read all of them, but there’s so many now that I may have to give up eventually. But again, thank you. I have another video like this one planned, the script has been written for a while now, I just need to record and edit it. As for what it’s about, I’ve left a few hints towards the topic in question in this video. Also on another note, I’ve seen a lot of comments asking why I didn’t use games like Mario and sonic and the Olympics, project x zone, marvel vs capcom etc. I probably should have explained it better in the video, but for this, I wanted to avoid using crossover games and stick to just cameo appearances. If I had used those games, then this would have been way easier.
There's another way to connect to Mega Man that doesn't require Chun-Li following your connection to Kos-Mos: - Kos-Mos also appear in Super Robot Wars: OG: Endless Frontier, there she meets a bunch of character from the Super Robot Wars series, like Haken Browning. - Haken later appeared in SRW OG Moon Dwellers with a bunch of characters from SRW. - Some of the characters from Moon Dwellers also appears in SRW: Cross-Omega. - Mega Man also appeared in Cross-Omega.
It doesn't count by your rules but there was a crossover between Mario and Pokémon at one point which resulted in stuff like promo art based on the Japanese boxart for SMB1 as well as special TCG Pikachu cards.
ARMS is the newest IP in Smash, isn’t it? (In the sense that there are games like 3 Houses and Xenoblade 2 that came later, but those are from existing franchises). 2017 wasn’t THAT long ago, we haven’t even had a new Mario kart game, so it’s not too surprising that ARMS is the odd man out.
Here's a few series that have directly crossed with Smash Bros in the series in some way: Kirby has Master hand and Crazy hand as bosses in The Amazing Mirror A Fire Emblem Emblem Awakening DLC map has a Smash map where the characters were talking about being transported from a fight full of cheers and appluads. Which is how Smash victories are done
Don’t forget the tutorials in kid Icarus uprising referencing smash too, there’s also a reference to Metroid and probably many others I can’t think of off the top of my head
Kirby also has his Smash copy ability, present in Amazing Mirror, Dream Collection, and Planet Robobot. There's a decent amount of other elements from Smash that made it into the Kirby series as well. Meta Knight using Shuttle Loop and getting to glide out of it, Galaxia getting named and having Galaxia Darkness in Meta Knightmare Returns, Hammer Flip sometimes allowing the user to move like the version in Smash, etc.
The Metal Gear series actually has two much simpler links. Otacon has figures of Mario and Yoshi on his desk in Twin Snakes that could be shot for health. Several Yoshi appear throughout Snake Eater 3D that all need to be shot for a special camouflage pattern, replacing the Kerotans in previous versions of the game.
The mario and yoshi figures are just that, figures, and I believe the yoshis in snake eater are just toys in that game too. So they don’t really count as links in my opinion. Still though thanks for pointing these out, I forgot that second one existed
@@TommoROM That's fair, although there are a few other less direct connections that would still simplify things. Japanese versions of Scribblenauts on the DS allow Metal Gear and Castlevania characters to be summoned, due to the game being published by Konami. The Wii U version of Scribblenauts Unlimited allows for Mario and Zelda characters to be summoned. Metal Gear and Castlevania characters also appear in Super Bomberman R and its sequel, although I haven't found any connections there that are particularly useful (unless my guess for the topic of your next video is correct).
It's okay, you can just say you wanted to show us that cutscene with Snake and the Ape jokes aside, having the Tekken music cut in at the Kazuya reveal was an excellent choice
If you want another crossover option for Fire Emblem, Mega Man, and Persona 5, Marth, Chrom, Mega Man, and Joker (among several other characters from those 3 franchises) were all featured in the Nintendo mobile game, Dragalia Lost as playable characters. you can also get Falchion and Joker's dagger as weapon skins also Dr Wily was a boss fight. (they also had a monster hunter event so if you ever wanted to do a continuation with assist trophies that works too) also the crossover events were actually cannon to Drgalia's story (we know this cause some of the events actually introduced new characters like Saboa, and plot lines that carried over to the main story like Chrom's warning of the future in the 2nd fire emblem event, and Emile's redemption arc starting up in the p5 event)
@@snipermonkey8665 TMS is it's own thing in it's own universe. It's not tied to any other game canonicly minus potentially Mystery/New Mystery. (TMS is technicly a distant sequel to Mystery's bad ending) It's not linked to SMT/Persona in any way besides the gameplay and cute references and even the stuff taken from FE Awakening are just references and not the actual characters. Mirage Chrom is not the real Chrom, same goes for the other mirages.
Wow, I was not expecting Runner3 or the Bit.Trip series in general to get brought up at all, certainly not as the primary way to connect freaking Minecraft to everything given how much more massive Minecraft is, but as a fan of the series it's a pleasant surprise. Nice to see Runner3 get any recognition at all given how that's a game no one seems to even know about besides me lol.
Btw idk if you know this, but Minecraft has officially crossover with Nintendo by adding an Official Mario Pack. And Sonic, Megaman X, Pac-Man, Street Fighter, Final Fantasy XV, and other mass media has also OFFICIALLY appeared in Minecraft
@@TommoROM Well, the Sonic one actually was a different playstyle from Minecraft as a whole, as well as having a custom model, so yes, I'd say Sonic is in Minecraft and not as just a skin
@@madnessarcade7447 not a minority he definitely has lost a lot of respect that doesn't mean he is the worst creator but many people do not take him very seriously
@@madnessarcade7447 People don't take him seriously because he made a couple of REALLY BAD theories and then people started to look back and nitpick all the flaws in his earlier theories disproving them. Those bad theories that ruined his reputation being the infamous "Sans is Ness" theory and his more recent "The Knight is the Pale King" Hollow Knight theory. Then when his theories were blatantly disproven he made an excuse that "oh my videos are meant to just be entertainment they're not supposed to be actually legit, I just make them for fun." He also has had other "incident" like gifting the 80+ year old Pope Francis a copy of Undertale on Steam when that man has probably never touched a computer in his life and then bragging about it on TH-cam or that time where he clickbaited a completely original game as "Undertale 2" and refused to credit the original devs at all. It was so bad that Mattpat got called out by Toby Fox the creator of Undertale himself. Matpat still makes good theories now and again but most of them are really bad.
I'm surprised you didn't mention Project X Zone, preferably PXZ 2. It had KOS-MOS from Xenosaga (and Xenoblade 2 to an extent) paired with Fiora from Xenoblade chronicles, while T-elos served as a rival unit. Ryu and Ken were playabe, and it introduced Kazuya who was paired up with Jin, and Chrom and Lucina in the second game.
You actually might be able to link ARMS kinda as in a Splatoon 2 one of the songs by a band called Sashamori (at least I think its called that been years since I checked) might have uses vocals straight from ARMS, and the way this is makes it canon is that the Octoling in the band samples ancient human recording for the lyrics (which is why the music sounds less watery then the rest of the Splatoon vocals) so its been speculated they used samples from ARMS in their second song, although if this makes it linkable is a 🤷♂️ for me (and all humans would be dead by that point)
what i think is most funny about this is the fact that a majority of these connections could just be simplified because things from their series are in fortnite, take for example soul caliber having darth vader and in turn also having link thus linking all the way to the legend of zelda, or the fact that Ryu is just straight up in fortnite, (also samus was planned for fortnite until nintendo got cold feet and backed out)
Smash is also mentioned in Fire Emblem Heroes through Brave Byleth in the forging bonds event. At the beginning of the S conversation, Sothis says she must join smash as shes slowly waking up, somewhat of a throwaway line, dunno if this counts.
Very fun video, allow me to throw in a few others -Mario, Luigi and Yoshi appear in the crowd for certain modes in Kirby Super Star. -Mario "appears" offscreen in the very first section of the original Pokemon games. I know you said references don't count, but given the limitations of the game I think they would have physically shown him if they could. -Joker and Ryu appear together as collaboration guest characters in Granblue Fantasy. -Chrom and Lucina appear in Project x Zone 2, alongside Ryu and Ken. -While the Capcom crossovers are generally obvious for Kazuya and Terry, Pac Man also appears in Street Fighter x Tekken. -Sonic appears alongside Ryu and Kazuya in the Fist of the North Star Revive mobile game. -Link's Soulcalibur 2 appearance connects him to Terry, as Soulcalibur 6 features Haohmaru from Samurai Shodown. -Cloud and Sephiroth are playable characters in Ergheiz, which is implied to be connected to Tekken through the character Ken Mishima. -Little Mac fought against Mike Tyson, who appeared as a guest character in WWE '13. Several wrestlers who appeared in that game appear in King of Fighters Allstar, alongside Terry and Ryu. This would also tie in Donkey Kong and Mario, as they appear in the Punch Out series. On the subject of KOF Allstar, that game also features Baiken from Guilty Gear, who's protagonist appears in the Star Ocean mobile game alongside Joker. -Bayonetta appears in the Shin Megami Tensei mobile game. While Joker isn't there, many of the SMT demons that show up in Persona 5 are. -Brawhalla and Puzzle and Dragon exist and are basically cheating.
Somehow you mentioned SC2 without mentioning that it is a link to tekken, since heihachi is a guest character also in SC2, implying that there is some time Portal between the SC universe and tekken universe. Also yoshimitsu exists but idk if SC yoshi and tekken yoshi are the same person or different beings
Not only do Chrom, Lucina, Ryu, and Ken appear in Project x Zone 2, Kos-Mos from Xenosaga (and Xenoblade 2) and Fiora from Xenoblade 1 also appear alongside Kazuya and Jin from Tekken. Also several Mega Man X characters appear and also Dante, linking back to Shin Megami Tensei.
The problem with Brawlhalla is the characters there are basically reskins of pre-existing characters. So if we're not gonna count Minecraft skins as canon crossovers (which'd basically blow this whole thing wide open,) then I wouldn't count these either, because both are just skins, and not the actual character Unless there's more to the BH crossovers that I don't know about that is, in which case, ignore this
@@minejack7773 Every brawlhalla character is a clone of each-other actually with like a one move difference. The weapons is what makes them unique and the crossover characters have unique weapons a lot of the time.
It's really cool how you can connect all these series together without even having to use Smash as a base *also videos like these are really cool, I'm looking forward to seeing your channel grow*
If we go by references and statements that link to smash directly Rodin outright says Bayo was in Smash through a letter to her in game. Not to mention she can pilot a literal Arwing in Bayonetta 2 and Steve has been stated to be added to smash accidentally twice by an offical Minecraft animated series on youtube. Also, fun fact, Little Mac was supposed to be a guest character in ARMS but it never went through sadly. ARMS nearly connected lol.
@@jazyzamp3056 I can't find the exact videos at the moment but I'm pretty sure it's in "The Secrets of Minecraft" series on Minecraft's offical youtube page. I'll link the videos if I do find the references
@@TommoROM I've been looking all day but I couldn't find the video it's mentioned in. The video basically went over concept art and the development behind ARMS. From what I recall they said Little Mac was going to be a guest character but was cut very early on. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help but if I do find it I'll be sure to link it in the comments.
Update: I found one of the two offical Minecraft videos stating Steve was in Smash! It's called: DESERT OF DOOM: Episode 2. Mentioned at 5:17 I believe. They call him "The guy from Smash Brothers." The other vid I have yet to find makes a joke about them trying to update the game and it accidentally sent Steve to Smash bros.
And for the while building up to Persona, I thought he was gonna go through the Fire Emblem route via Tokyo Mirage Sessions. Not an obscure out of left field passageway that ends up at Mario Kart DS with R.O.B
@@TommoROM The shopkeeper in TMS#FE is Anna from the Fire Emblem series and Jack Frost from SMT does appear in that game as various merchandise such as masks and signs so it technically does connect them.
@@jmaster4941 Anna's appearance throughout every Fire Emblem game is not the same person. While the argument can be made that the Anna's are of a family of sisters who are dispersed extradimensionally, there are several other connections linking TMS to the rest of FE. The biggest confirmation imo is Fire Emblem Heroes explicitly grabbing individuals from different timelines and universes, including TMS, confirming these games do exist within the same multiverse.
A few additional things to note that I haven't seen anyone else note yet: -The Mario + Game & Watch connection actually has a stronger example in a later Game & Watch Gallery game. In Game & Watch Gallery 4, both Mario and Mr. Game & Watch appear together when congratulating the player and gifting them the next G&W game. This is on top of the Game and Watch silhouettes in the Foggy Fumes level in Donkey Kong Country Returns. -The Shovel Knight to God of War connection actually leads to a whole bunch of other connections, as the dialogue in God of War: Ragnarok confirms that PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is also canon to the God of War series. In terms of connections with franchises solely represented in Smash however, this provides a direct link to Metal Gear (through Raiden) and Tekken (through Heihachi). -While no Pokémon directly show up, Animal Crossing Pocket Camp did hold a collab event with Pokémon, where you had to collect Poké Balls in order to get the event's clothing and furniture. -The mobile game Shin Megami Tensei Dx2 has had a few different crossovers, relevant to the discussion being collaborations that added Bayonetta and Sonic as "demons" you could add to your team for fights. -Monster Hunter Rise features event quests that reward items based on a couple series, but what's notable about them are the quest givers for the Sonic-themed quests. The mission "Gotta Hoard Fast!" is given by a "Young Two-Tailed Fox" who starts his message by saying "Oh no! Looks like Sonic dropped all of his rings!" Likewise, the mission "Super Shady Look-alike" is given by a "Carefree Hedgehog" who mentions that he thought that the monster that was following him was "that dumb faker." In addition to the Sonic crossovers though, Monster Hunter is also directly connected to the Metal Gear series, as Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker has a Felyne show up to ask Big Boss to hunt some monsters from the Monster Hunter series. -Puzzle and Dragons has had a lot of collabs, with Persona, Final Fantasy, and Street Fighter being the most notable here. As well, Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition directly features one of the creatures from the series in a late-game world, tying it in to the original game. -Taiko no Tatsujin also serves as a linking point for some franchises, as Dokodon! Mystery Adventure features Kirby and King Dedede as playable party members alongside two Monster Hunter Felynes and Kirby is also a playable performer in Drum 'n' Fun as well as Hatsune Miku... -...Which finally (and the most debatable out of all of these) brings us to the Hatsune Miku collaborations, with Hatsune Miku appearing as a DLC character in Persona 4: Dancing All Night, as a performer in the Taiko no Tatsujin as mentioned before, as a Dancer in Just Dance which also has Mario content in it with the "Just Mario" song and the alternate version of "Naughty Girl" that has Rabbid Peach as the dancer, as a guest character in Puyo Puyo Quest which connects to the Sonic series through Sonic Runners and Puyo Puyo Tetris 2, and even the Pokemon series potentially if you count the Project Voltage collaboration (which currently does not have any video game representation).
I enjoy how you went out of your way to choose some more niche and interesting crossovers (like the Nintendo worlds in lost world for sonic instead of just the Mario and Sonic games)
You forgot to mention the other connection of the persona series, being connected to the smt series, this last one has a crossover game with the fire emblem series called Tokyo Mirage Seasons: #FE (amazing video btw lol)
I can't believe you forgot to mention the Mario and Sonic games, even Sonic and Mega-Man have 2 crossovers in the comics and the last crossover featured franchises from SEGA and Capcom. Also Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, and Angry Birds were in Sonic Dash! Dante was in that Street Fighter Mobile App Game
it is also worth noting the in one of the kid icarus games, pit points out that one of the enemies he encounters look like metroids and then has 4th wall break moment
I can’t believe this. Around the time of Min Min’s reveal, I did this exact same concept for a powerpoint night, using the same crossovers to connect stuff and having a very similar spiderweb diagram too. This really blew my mind Other than Arms, I actually couldn’t find anything for Pokémon or Star Fox, so colour me impressed
Star Fox is really easy to connect since Star Fox commend directly references F-Zero multiple times. Star Fox and F-Zero are heavily connected and have been for a long time.

If you want to go a step further: In every Pokemon game, the main character has Nintendo's current gen console in their room, and when you did a trade in the old games the game was aware and showed your console sending and receiving the traded Pokemon. So, in a cosmic sort of way, it automatically shares connections with any other game that shows the console within the same game, or that has a Gamecube or Switch just lying out there (like Animal Crossing or that Shrek game where you could get inside the Gamecube if you were out of bounds). Some characters have had crossovers outside of videogames. Sonic, for example, was a guest character in OK KO, which also has the Crossover Nexus episode where he teams up with Garnet from Steven Universe (who also links with Uncle Grandpa and other shows), Ben 10, and Raven from TTG, who we know shares universe (or more appropiately, multiverse) with other DC characters and franchises including, obviously, Batman. Batman has had crossovers with Mortal Kombat, Scooby Doo (who, you know, has met real-life people), TMNT (who are canonically connected to other Nick properties) and Marvel. Marvel characters have also had a lot of crossovers, being one of them with Phineas and Ferb (who also have had a Star Wars crossover), Attack on Titan, and goes back to connecting with Capcom, SNK and other franchises and studios. Moreover, many of these characters have had cameos and crossovers in other media like Fortnite, which also connects them with many other franchises like Futurama, Dragon Ball, The Walking Dead, and more. So, in a way, most franchises have at least one slim connection and share a major multiverse somewhere.
Another link is Persona 5, Mega Man, and Fire Emblem Heroes having crossovers in the now discontinued Dragalia Lost. In addition, there is the Mario and Sonic Olympics series of games but that’s also a bit obvious.
Kinda surprise you don't mention the Mario & Sonic Olympic games considering that the Dream Events take place in both Mario and Sonic's worlds. For instance Dream Racing has them skateboarding downhill in Metropolis Zone or Dream Equestrian happening in Moo Moo Meadows.
While Sans is just a Mii Fighter, you can connect Undertale too! Both Sans and Simon Belmont are playable characters in the Japanese rhythm game series Pop'n Music! Pop'n Music has *a ton* of crossovers, but I'm not sure if any others are Smash related, I'm *still* learning about all the Pop'n Music crossovers! Well, at least if Touhou ever gets a Smash character that series is already connected to Castlevania and Undertale too, Reimu is also in Pop'n Music with the song Bad Apple. You can also connect Undertale to Metal Gear Solid since both Simon and the Pop'n Music mascots, Mimi and Nyami, appear as playable characters in Super Bomberman R alongside Snake and other Konami characters
I didn't see any rules against mobile games so... In the Shin Megami Tensei gacha game, SMT Dx2: Liberation, Sonic, Dante and Bayonetta are guest characters thanks to collaboration events. Crossovers are crazy there, man. The game also has Guts and Griffith from Berserk, and it also has crossovers with Ghost in the Shell, 7 Deadly Sins, and most recently, Evangelion. So through SMT multiverse bullshit, we can connect Bayonetta, DMC and the Sonic series with Persona.
ARMS could technically be linked but it falls way off the rules to make a connection. ARMS has crossover ads with We Bare Bears, which also has crossover ads with Splatoon. Not sure if this really counts though.
Another way to link Pokemon to the other universes is through the jp version of red and blue (or maybe it was gsc? I don’t remember). If you interact with the console in the players room, it says it’s playing a Mario game.
That is one huge web. If I had the patience, I'd pick out which fighters are friends of a previous fighter, which are friends of friends, friends of friends of friends, relative strangers that a friend of a friend heard of, etc.
Oh LOL I was thinking of making this video myself over a month ago, I had audio recorded and everything and just forgot. Anyway there's a bunch of links you can make here that might make things easier: - Seen as the Dante and Viewtiful Joe link was allowed for R.O.B, then a Rathalos showing up in Metal Gear can count, and given that Monster Hunter, Rathalos's home series, also features a Behemoth from Final Fantasy, there's another link for Metal Gear. - Pokémon links to Tekken, solely due to the fact that one of the stages features Tekken character Mokujin as a training dummy. - The Xeno series can be linked to, well, Link, via Soulcalibur, as KOS-MOS appeared in Soulcalibur, as did Link, albeit not directly in the same game. - Metroid can be linked to Kid Icarus via the Komayto enemy, which is outright referred to as a Metroid in game. - There's another option for Persona. Morgana was playable in Super Monkey Ball, and Aiai, the main character of Super Monkey Ball, is also playable in the Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing games
The Metal Gear series is much simpler than that, since Otacon has figures of Mario and Yoshi on his desk in Twin Snakes and Yoshi takes the place of Kerotan in Snake Eater 3D.
Remember kids DK and Mario being connected is canon, as well as Banjo and DK connection being canon too. Banjo is a canon Mario character by tecnicality.
Just to be unnecessarily technical, the KOS-MOS in Xenoblade 2 isn't actually the KOS-MOS from Xenosaga. The Xenosaga KOS-MOS may or may not appear at the end of Xenoblade 3 Future Redeemed though. Either way, Xeno is almost certainly a shared multiverse via the Zohar/Conduit. A more concrete connection is Project X Zone 2 where Fiora and KOS-MOS directly interact (and so do their headmates).
Impressive work! Bear in mind though, this is just the video game side of things when it comes to crossovers, but if we take into account the media outside of that: - 'Captain N: Video Game Master', an 80's video game cartoon show, has Mega Man, Simon Belmont, and Pit as the main protagonists. It also has Mother Brain, Donkey Kong, Ganondorf, and King Hippo as the occasional villain. - This one's a lot more obscure. The Club Nintendo magazine in Germany has a Christmas-themed comic strip: _'Super Mario: Die Bescherung'._ In the first panel, Link, Pit, and Mega Man can been seen.
Actually smash is canon to kingdom hearts The creator of KH said he was hesitant of putting Sora in smash at first because of how he could fit it into the canon
I know this probably doesn't count but ARMS technically has a connection with the Super Mario series. They made a wallpaper for ARMS in which Kinopio-Kun (a Green Toad) fights Spring Man
This showed up at the best time possible! I've been working on a theory about the Game & Watch timeline (yes really), where his inclusion is the final part of a whole arc of Princess Shokora trying to get back to the mushroom kingdom. TL;DR: Shokora was cursed in Wario Land 4, sorta just vanishes forever. The theory states GnW ended up in an infinite white void (the handhelds), the minigames being timewasters to stay sane. GnW Gallery is *almost* breaking the barrier between GnW and home. Melee is a broken, depressed character, unable to function (literally and metaphorically), and Brawl is the finale, where Princess Peach hands GnW her parasol in Subspace, representing a final return. With GnW's games having zero actual plot, it's a satisfying way to connect everything. If you'd want, I can send you my notes. I suck at video editing, and just wanna get it "out there". Also hilariously, GnW's powers are technically insanely overpowered, but are just used to be a goofy 3fps comic relief character.
Yo, that sounds really interesting! I’m looking forward to when it comes out. Also, don’t worry about video editing too much. I sucked at it at first as well (and even now I’ve got a ways to go). As long as you’ve got an interesting premise (which you clearly do), and you can present it in an entertaining enough way, then I don’t think the editing will matter too much. Still try obviously, but don’t stress over it. Anyway, good luck.
Xenoblade Chronicles could also be connected to the Legend of Zelda. Because Tekken, as far as I know, takes place in the same world as Soul Calibur (both have the character Yoshimitsu), and Link appeared in Soul Calibur 2 for the Gamecube.
4:01: Corection: Mii is not a Universe Represented by Playable Characters. The “Mii Fighters” Are all counted as original Smash Characters due to the smash symbol Being used to Represent them
For fun I'm gonna link the most note worthy Mii Costumes Sans: appears in Pop'n Music which also features Simon Belmont Cuphead: Playable in Cook Serve Delicious along with Shovel Knight Shantae: Playable in Mutant Mudds Super Challenge, Blaster Master 0, and Runbow which also feature Shovel Knight
I actually tried to make a unified timeline of all mainline games the fighters are present in. I came up with some fun discoveries. 1. Bram Stoker's Dracula is a part of this shared universe 2. The timeline splits and reunifies at 6 different point; Pac-Man, zelda, mega man, Final Fantsy 7, Star Fox, and sonic. 3. R.O.B. can theoretically be a mass produced metal gear. 4. The lore that people and pokemon used to be one and the same lines up with the dragon quest monsters series, which are canon. 5. Every reference to god in any game is actually a reference to arceus. 6. Samus and Captain Falcon could have met and even worked together as bounty hunters. 7. The world had 5 different apocalypses; the great flood, the great calamity, the second great flood from mega man legends, and the shiverburn freeze from kirby 64.
@@deathpie24let's see. Kirby - Maybe? He's just a lil' guy. Even Kratos would be friends with him. Sonic - Again, maybe? Kid Icarus characters - Absolutely not, unless he realizes that they're different from the Greek pantheon he killed. Any other fully playable godslayers are up for interpretation.
Man stuff like this is so incredibly interesting. Some of the ways these series connect are absolutely WILD. I do think it's important to note that many of these are not canon-canon... as in, they're real, official connections, but that doesn't necessarily mean the universes are _actually_ connected. Just going into Mario... while Link, Inklings, and Animal Crossing characters appear in Mario Kart, the _actual_ Zelda, Splatoon, and Animal Crossing universes are not connected to each other. Idk how to exactly describe it, but it's more like a unique Zelda universe existing within Mario's. The Link we see in Mario Kart never had adventures in the canonical Zelda Universe, but he _did_ have adventures within Mario's version of the Zelda universe.... if that makes sense. Kirby Super Star features Mario characters as spectators, and there's the Samus cameo in Dream Land 3 that was mentioned in the video. But they're not the _real_ Mario & Samus from their respective series. They're some version of Mario and Samus that exist within Kirby's universe. While this may bum some people out, I think it honestly makes things even cooler. I love how Link looks in Mario Kart 8, because he looks Mario-y! I'd love to see a Mario-fied version of Samus someday too, even if I'm not a fan of the crossover characters. And for the purpose of this video, the fact these aren't actually canon doesn't matter. It's not about the nature of all these series connecting, it's more about finding those bridges that link things together officially.
@malhaomalhoa7486 The Link in Mario Kart 8 has Skyward Sword Link's design, but with vastly different proportions than he does in Skyward Sword. His proportions are much closer to a character like Princess Peach. His face is smoother and his eyes are bigger. Hyrule Circuit is also a version of Hyrule we have never seen in the Zelda games. There are royal guards in outfits inspired by Spirit Tracks that have neither Skyward Sword nor Toon proportions. It's a unique interpretation of Hyrule and a Mario-fied Link.
Would the fact Splatoon has held Splatfests based on concepts from Mario (Mushroom vs Star from Splatoon 2) Legend of Zelda (Power vs Wisdom vs Courage from Splatoon 3) and Pokemon (Grass vs Fire vs Water from Splatoon 3) count, or would they fall under simple references

0:55 Before continuing tomorrow, I think there are three types of crossover: 1: Shared Universe 2: World's Connect 3: A Bridge/Amalgam World, which I think the World of Smash is. That could also explain a lot of Smash's inconsistencies like Olimar's height; the Realm of Smash simply has different rules.
I had an idea for an alternate Sora Classic Mode Route, fighting characters with some connection to Disney, but what I found was insufficient. There was Link, since he's supposedly, unofficially based on Peter Pan, there's Sonic cause of Wreck It Ralph, but I'm not entirely certain that counts(especially since that movie could be abused for this route), and of Cloud, cause Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy. Also had an idea for a Meta Knight route called Meta Knightmare Ultimate, where he fights characters that have cameoed in the Kirby series, while Kirby's Classic Mode would specifically involve references in the Copy Ability Hats.
i LOVE this concept. i’m an avid f-zero fan, so there are a few more links to it that come to mind. like captain falcon’s helmet appearing as a treasure in a kirby game, or R.O.B. appearing in port town in f-zero gx. R.O.B. and game & watches appear as treasure in pikmin, and pikmin and animal crossing share a link as well ,as the player can recieve a letter from olimar in one of the games. animal crossing can be tied to several series thanks to its items , now that i think about it. awesome video! really got the gears turning
Sonic has also crossed over with Mario in the Olympic Games which links to Solid Snake, where he meets Mega Man in the comics, where mega man is in marvel vs capcom which links with street fighter which links with tekken which links with fatal fury, and everything in this list except Arms.
There is another way to connect Megaman and Street fighter to the rest of smash: Around 2015-ish Sonic the Hedgehog and Megaman both had comic series that were published by Archie Comics; The two series even shared the same writing team and did crossover events with each other. The second one even had other Sega and Capcom characters make cameo appearances and some were even integral to the crossover's plot; and of the characters included, Ryu and Ken from Street Fighter both made appearances in the crossover. So in other words, through a crossover event that involved TWO now-defunct comics, Sonic the Hedgehog connects both Megaman AND Street Fighter to the rest of Super Smash Bros.
@@TommoROM dunno about the others, but the Sonic DLC definitely has its own unique model that is nothing like a standard skin/costume, and unique gameplay mechanics that you really can't find anywhere else in Minecraft. It's not so much of a situation where you can look like sonic in Minecraft, but rather you can play a Sonic game on Minecraft's "engine" per se.
It makes sense why Arms hasn't made any crossovers outside of Smash yet. It was around 2-3 years old when Min Min was added, I believe it's also the youngest series represented by a playable fighter in Smash if not the youngest series represented in Smash in general. It'd probably take a few more years until an Arms character makes a cameo or at least has the game get referenced in another Nintendo game tho
Great video, but I'm surprised Project X Zone wasn't mentioned at least once. For those unaware, Project X Zone was two srpgs that appeared on the 3ds which starred characters from Sega, Namco, and Capcom, with the second game even having a couple of Fire Emblem and Xenoblade characters. Definitely strengthens some of the character connections if we're counting it.
Fire emblem has a great crossover in Project X Zone 2 which I wish you looked into. It’s wild to say the least. Not sure if it counts but WarioWare has Fire Emblem micro games
I knew about project x zone, I just wanted to see if I could connect all these series without having to use crossover games. I probably could have made that a little more clearer
I'm kinda surprised the Mario Kart Arcade GP games weren't brought up as a link between Mario and Pac-Man. That aside, this is a pretty great video! Oh, and fun fact about Kazuya's cameo in Xenosaga Episode 1: it's only in the overseas version that you get an email from Kazuya which, by the way, basically served to promote Tekken 4. In the Japanese release, players can instead receive an email from a different Bandai Namco character, that being Klonoa, which basically served a similar purpose, only instead of promoting Tekken 4, it basically served as a promotion for Klonoa Beach Volleyball, which yes, is indeed a real game. So if Klonoa ever becomes a playable character in an official Super Smash Bros. game... there you go, you already have a link. Well, that and the fact that Klonoa characters appear in the Japan-only Namco X Capcom, which also features several Street Fighter characters like Ryu and Ken, so there's that too.
There's another way to connect to Mega Man that doesn't require Chun-Li following your connection to Kos-Mos:
- Kos-Mos also appear in Super Robot Wars: OG: Endless Frontier, there she meets a bunch of character from the Super Robot Wars series, like Haken Browning.
I'm guessing non-video game crossovers also doesn't count as Wreck-It Ralph would've made this list a lot more easier.
Bayonetta appeared as DLC in Anarchy Reigns.
That Ape Escape cutscene with Snake was the greatest thing I have ever seen
I remember trying to do this exact thing, but ended up with significantly less connections than yours. Great video, and it really is only ARMS, huh

Here's a few series that have directly crossed with Smash Bros in the series in some way:
Kirby has Master hand and Crazy hand as bosses in The Amazing Mirror
A Fire Emblem Emblem Awakening DLC map has a Smash map where the characters were talking about being transported from a fight full of cheers and appluads. Which is how Smash victories are done
Fire Emblem Fates also has references to Smash, the Amiibo units are implied to be their Smash version.
blast
roy technically debuted in smash melee
To be honest Arms is still a really new franchise, I believe it's the youngest in smash, so it makes a lot of sense it's had no cameos in other games
True
@@madnessarcade7447You guys are rich. As if Nintendo will ever make another Arms
But like it wouldn’t be weird if it was connected
It also sucks :3
@@TommoROM There's a theory that Banjo Kazooie and Donkey Kong take place in the same world thanks to Diddy Kong Racing????

It's okay, you can just say you wanted to show us that cutscene with Snake and the Ape
jokes aside, having the Tekken music cut in at the Kazuya reveal was an excellent choice
Aww you got me
If you want another crossover option for Fire Emblem, Mega Man, and Persona 5, Marth, Chrom, Mega Man, and Joker (among several other characters from those 3 franchises) were all featured in the Nintendo mobile game, Dragalia Lost as playable characters. you can also get Falchion and Joker's dagger as weapon skins also Dr Wily was a boss fight.
(they also had a monster hunter event so if you ever wanted to do a continuation with assist trophies that works too)
also the crossover events were actually cannon to Drgalia's story (we know this cause some of the events actually introduced new characters like Saboa, and plot lines that carried over to the main story like Chrom's warning of the future in the 2nd fire emblem event, and Emile's redemption arc starting up in the p5 event)

You actually might be able to link ARMS kinda as in a Splatoon 2 one of the songs by a band called Sashamori (at least I think its called that been years since I checked) might have uses vocals straight from ARMS, and the way this is makes it canon is that the Octoling in the band samples ancient human recording for the lyrics (which is why the music sounds less watery then the rest of the Splatoon vocals) so its been speculated they used samples from ARMS in their second song, although if this makes it linkable is a 🤷♂️ for me (and all humans would be dead by that point)
what i think is most funny about this is the fact that a majority of these connections could just be simplified because things from their series are in fortnite, take for example soul caliber having darth vader and in turn also having link thus linking all the way to the legend of zelda, or the fact that Ryu is just straight up in fortnite, (also samus was planned for fortnite until nintendo got cold feet and backed out)
Ngl I haven't played Fornite in forever but Samus would be an awesome inclusion to the game. Her suit does look like it can fit in the Forniteverse
Smash is also mentioned in Fire Emblem Heroes through Brave Byleth in the forging bonds event. At the beginning of the S conversation, Sothis says she must join smash as shes slowly waking up, somewhat of a throwaway line, dunno if this counts.
Very fun video, allow me to throw in a few others
-Mario, Luigi and Yoshi appear in the crowd for certain modes in Kirby Super Star.
So if we're not gonna count Minecraft skins as canon crossovers (which'd basically blow this whole thing wide open,) then I wouldn't count these either, because both are just skins, and not the actual character
Unless there's more to the BH crossovers that I don't know about that is, in which case, ignore this
@@minejack7773 Every brawlhalla character is a clone of each-other actually with like a one move difference. The weapons is what makes them unique and the crossover characters have unique weapons a lot of the time.

I cannot believe that Persona, the series that's HALF REALISTIC LIFE SIM, isn't the series that couldn't be connected. Istg
May you please send the link to the Minecraft videos that reference Smash? I've never heard of this but it sounds interesting.

The other vid I have yet to find makes a joke about them trying to update the game and it accidentally sent Steve to Smash bros.
And for the while building up to Persona, I thought he was gonna go through the Fire Emblem route via Tokyo Mirage Sessions. Not an obscure out of left field passageway that ends up at Mario Kart DS with R.O.B

A few additional things to note that I haven't seen anyone else note yet:
-The Mario + Game & Watch connection actually has a stronger example in a later Game & Watch Gallery game.
Damn

What about both
What you should have said at the beginning is "Smash Bros. Is a crossover of iconic gaming characters and Sora"
I love playing this game so much! I remember connecting The Backyardigans to Attack on Titan, and Pacman to Fortnite
it is also worth noting the in one of the kid icarus games, pit points out that one of the enemies he encounters look like metroids and then has 4th wall break moment
I can’t believe this. Around the time of Min Min’s reveal, I did this exact same concept for a powerpoint night, using the same crossovers to connect stuff and having a very similar spiderweb diagram too. This really blew my mind
Other than Arms, I actually couldn’t find anything for Pokémon or Star Fox, so colour me impressed
Star Fox is really easy to connect since Star Fox commend directly references F-Zero multiple times. Star Fox and F-Zero are heavily connected and have been for a long time.
If you want to go a step further:
In every Pokemon game, the main character has Nintendo's current gen console in their room, and when you did a trade in the old games the game was aware and showed your console sending and receiving the traded Pokemon.
So, in a way, most franchises have at least one slim connection and share a major multiverse somewhere.
also sonic make a crossover with angry birds (which have a crossover with the movie rio) considering sega buy rovio
6:02 in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars Chun-Li & Roll can fight each other
7:29 the Super Mario Mash-Up pack
Another link is Persona 5, Mega Man, and Fire Emblem Heroes having crossovers in the now discontinued Dragalia Lost.
In addition, there is the Mario and Sonic Olympics series of games but that’s also a bit obvious.
Kinda surprise you don't mention the Mario & Sonic Olympic games considering that the Dream Events take place in both Mario and Sonic's worlds. For instance Dream Racing has them skateboarding downhill in Metropolis Zone or Dream Equestrian happening in Moo Moo Meadows.
Good video! Heres a connection that I know as a massive Pikmin fan. In Pikmin 2 you can find Robs head and the colored circle things that go with Rob.
I love this concept and how far you went to find this out.
Great video! I didn't think the pokemon connection would have such a long chain
I got a feeling that Arms being left out will be fixed soon, should 9-volt have an Arms microgame in the next Warioware.
This is a grand idea continue!
ARMS could technically be linked but it falls way off the rules to make a connection.
ARMS has crossover ads with We Bare Bears, which also has crossover ads with Splatoon. Not sure if this really counts though.
We bare bears is canon to final fantasy and tekken
Yeah, I probably wouldn’t count it, but that’s really interesting. I had no idea these ads existed. Thanks for letting me know.
@@TommoROM No problem!
Another way to link Pokemon to the other universes is through the jp version of red and blue (or maybe it was gsc? I don’t remember). If you interact with the console in the players room, it says it’s playing a Mario game.
An easier explanation for the connection of Persona would just be Sonic's appearance in the SMT mobile game for his 30th anniversary
Let's not forget, Mr game & watch appears in Donkey Kong country returns in the background of the first factory level
Anyway there's a bunch of links you can make here that might make things easier:
- Seen as the Dante and Viewtiful Joe link was allowed for R.O.B, then a Rathalos showing up in Metal Gear can count, and given that Monster Hunter, Rathalos's home series, also features a Behemoth from Final Fantasy, there's another link for Metal Gear.
I would still make it. You have your own connections separate from the ones I mentioned, so I’m sure it would still work
The Metal Gear series is much simpler than that, since Otacon has figures of Mario and Yoshi on his desk in Twin Snakes and Yoshi takes the place of Kerotan in Snake Eater 3D.
Wow, the work you put into this dude! 😱👍

Aww thanks. I had like 20 before this video went up
Fun video, I thought this channel would have a lot of subscribers. Keep up the good work!
This video is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME. You should absolutely try to connect more serious to each other.
Impressive work! Bear in mind though, this is just the video game side of things when it comes to crossovers, but if we take into account the media outside of that:
- 'Captain N: Video Game Master', an 80's video game cartoon show, has Mega Man, Simon Belmont, and Pit as the main protagonists.
Actually smash is canon to kingdom hearts
The creator of KH said he was hesitant of putting Sora in smash at first because of how he could fit it into the canon

Bro. THANK YOU for showing me this.
Xenoblade Chronicles could also be connected to the Legend of Zelda. Because Tekken, as far as I know, takes place in the same world as Soul Calibur (both have the character Yoshimitsu), and Link appeared in Soul Calibur 2 for the Gamecube.
Given that Monolith Soft is also working closely with the Zelda team, it may also be a fact...same Splatoon and Animal Crossing.

Corection: Mii is not a Universe Represented by Playable Characters. The “Mii Fighters” Are all counted as original Smash Characters due to the smash symbol Being used to Represent them
dont forget the bazillion mario refrences in link's awakening
For fun I'm gonna link the most note worthy Mii Costumes
Sans: appears in Pop'n Music which also features Simon Belmont
Cuphead: Playable in Cook Serve Delicious along with Shovel Knight
Shantae: Playable in Mutant Mudds Super Challenge, Blaster Master 0, and Runbow which also feature Shovel Knight
I actually tried to make a unified timeline of all mainline games the fighters are present in. I came up with some fun discoveries.
1. Bram Stoker's Dracula is a part of this shared universe
I am legit curious as to what this timeline looks like.
interesting. I would be interested to see what that looks like.
Holy shit, I was expecting for you to have over 50k+ subs, you are way better than I thought. Props
Sometimes I forget that Pac-Man And Ms.Pac-Man were also playable in Sonic Dash! Another pretty cool link!
Fact that Mario, God Of War and Minecraft are in the same universe made my brain literally explode
But would Kratos get along with the other god slayers and Kirby?
@@deathpie24let's see.
Kirby - Maybe? He's just a lil' guy. Even Kratos would be friends with him.
Sonic - Again, maybe? He'd for sure find him annoying, but a big help when it comes to dealing with emotional distress.
Bayo - No idea.
Kid Icarus characters - Absolutely not, unless he realizes that they're different from the Greek pantheon he killed.
Any other fully playable godslayers are up for interpretation.
Sonic could just be Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games lol
That’s a great way of putting it. As you said, these series aren’t canonically linked to each other, but it’s fun to think about.
I'd imagine a Mario-fied Samus would just look like a tomboyish and less elegant version of Peach
Mario-fied?! Link looks exactly like what he regularly does in his home series, but sure whatever makes you sleep at night lmfao
@malhaomalhoa7486
The Link in Mario Kart 8 has Skyward Sword Link's design, but with vastly different proportions than he does in Skyward Sword.
Idk if this also counts but sonic was in the wreck it Ralph movie and ralph was a summon in kingdom hearts 3
I thought Minecraft would be a odd one out, but the second you revealed the Super Meat Boy crossover that I forgot existed was crazy
"Guess which series is not connected!"
It's gotta be Kingdom Hearts.
"NOPE!"
Uh... Minecraft?
"NOPE!"
Uh, which one?
"ARMS."
ARMS? As in, Nintendo-owned and internally developed ARMS?
"Yuuuup."
... What the f--
0:55 Before continuing tomorrow, I think there are three types of crossover:
1: Shared Universe
2: World's Connect
3: A Bridge/Amalgam World, which I think the World of Smash is.
Cut scene from Conker's Bad Fur Day features a Pikachu cameo, Conker is a spinoff of Donkey Kong (via Diddy Kong Racing)
i LOVE this concept. i’m an avid f-zero fan, so there are a few more links to it that come to mind. like captain falcon’s helmet appearing as a treasure in a kirby game, or R.O.B. appearing in port town in f-zero gx. R.O.B. and game & watches appear as treasure in pikmin, and pikmin and animal crossing share a link as well ,as the player can recieve a letter from olimar in one of the games. animal crossing can be tied to several series thanks to its items , now that i think about it. awesome video! really got the gears turning
You've earned a sub!
Thanks for featuring the true crossover King the man with no game The Baz
Baz is great, I had to give him some kind of mention here.
There's also a Yoshi that you can find in Snake Eater for the 3DS. And the Mario and Sonic Olympic games series.
Sonic has also crossed over with Mario in the Olympic Games which links to Solid Snake, where he meets Mega Man in the comics, where mega man is in marvel vs capcom which links with street fighter which links with tekken which links with fatal fury, and everything in this list except Arms.
now connect every game in existence
Mario and sonic at the Olympic Games was an obvious one
Bro could have easily brought up the banjo kazooie skins in minecraft legacy console edition instead of linking it to Kratos
There is another way to connect Megaman and Street fighter to the rest of smash:
Around 2015-ish Sonic the Hedgehog and Megaman both had comic series that were published by Archie Comics; The two series even shared the same writing team and did crossover events with each other.
In pokemon sun and moon, there's a Mario outfit (that you can't buy) in a clothing shop. There's at least that collection
Pokken: "Am I a joke to you"
I mean, Pokken doesn’t really have any Tekken stuff in it outside of references (like pikachu using Heihachi’s moves).
You could've just said that you can play as mario, Sonic, pacman, megaman, etc. In official minecraft DLC.
True. Though those are just skins as opposed to the actual characters. And I didn’t feel that costumes really counted.
@@TommoROMthough they work as texture packs as well with for example the p wing
@@TommoROM, not really, sonic and co. borrow their movesets from the sonic games alongside with some game mechanics. Same kind of applies to Pac-Man
Also that brugns in other franchises outside of smash like mass effect, fallout and halo due to the xbox default worlds,
@@TommoROM dunno about the others, but the Sonic DLC definitely has its own unique model that is nothing like a standard skin/costume, and unique gameplay mechanics that you really can't find anywhere else in Minecraft.
It's not so much of a situation where you can look like sonic in Minecraft, but rather you can play a Sonic game on Minecraft's "engine" per se.
for minecraft you could have just said the Mario Mash up Pack, no reason that wouldn't be sufficient
it's just a skin
I imagine you've been through a lot of research to make this one, right?
Great video!
yeah, a lot of time spent going through fan wikis
the ape escape and solid snake cutscene had me WHEEZING
Also Sonic and Bowser shows up in Wreck it Ralph, further connecting to the Disney universe
@@TommoROM ah that’s make more sense
There were some Pokémon cards of Pikachu wearing Mario and Luigi outfits
