Zelda as a series in general is depressing when it comes to Smash. Hasn't gotten a new character since Brawl, 3 of its characters are clones (two of them being of the same character and the other of a character that isn't even from the same franchise for crying out loud), and all but 1 have been mid at best to some of the absolute WORST competitively
@@IamSatoshi... Zelda has been bad since melee, though she did got good buffs in Ultimate, but it wasn't enough to make her a proper good character Ness was bad in all games but Smash Ultimate, Smash Ultimate made him a mid tier fighter which that's good!
Nice video again! I'm proud to boast that I guessed every character that made the list except Ness and Lucas, and I guessed the order of top 4 correctly 😎 I pray for the day us Zelda fans get more love from the Smash Team
Dr. Mario being a heavier, more hard hitting version of a Balanced character such as Mario isn't the worst idea Ganon being a VERY slow and hard hitting version of a character that's all about speed and flashy moves is like... What were they even thinking?
Honestly, I would have been perfectly fine if they held off on Ganondorf until brawl if it would mean he would get a unique and fitting moveset. A large reason why he was like that in melee was because of time constraints. If he just skipped out on melee it would mean he wouldn't be constrained to falcondorf in brawl and future games.
@@DashieFan5 Does Ganon have anything to do with Zelda, yes pay attention. Ganon has the Triforce of Power so he has a powerful moveset, arguably the villain with the most raw power.
Honestly, if Doc was in Brawl, I think he’d be even lower in this video, since Mario wasn’t all that good in Brawl, and Doc is just him but slower, with worse recovery, and more power. Brawl nerfed kill power, and we all know what having bad recovery and low speed does for you in Brawl
Well, bad recovery is actually borderline irrelevant. There are two high tiers whose recovery is garbage (one has no recovery, the other dies if you grab him), but they are so good it never matters enough to affect their position, there are simply better characters than them like MK. Being slow is the real death sentence.
Eh, I think he'll be in the same spot. Even if he becomes the worst character in Brawl, he's still better than Ganondorf in every official game they've been in. Ganon and Zelda really are that bad
@ I see where you’re coming from, since he’d have a reliable projectile (more than the bottom 4 currently can say), but it all depends on how his frame data would be, too
@@MikeyDLuffy Does Ganon have anything to do with Zelda, yes pay attention. Ganon has the Triforce of Power so he has a powerful moveset, arguably the villain with the most raw power. As for Sonic his speed is the reason he's so annoying but I don't think Sega would allow Sonic to be slower???
@@orangeslash1667 I don't get what point you are trying to make. Yes Sonic should be fast and Ganon should hit hard. What does that have to do with having boring ass kits. Sonic can be fast and not the worst designed character in the game they aren't mutually exclusive. Ganon can be powerful and not be a slow Captain Falcon clone for 20 years.
@@MikeyDLuffy Thats because sacrifices have to be made for balance. If Sonic had a more complex moveset in addition to being the fastest character in the whole game, Sonic would be overpowered. So Sonic was reduced to having moves from the classic games, Sonic the Fighters, a couple of references to Sonic Adventure and thats it. Sakurai mindset is characters can copy moves from other characters as long as it's Smash original. Captain Falcon is completely Smash original in terms, speed is the only thing he has to the F-zero series. Which is why Ganon can't copy his speed. Meaning if Ganon were to copy Mario fire flower, that would be bad design because it's not Smash original.
Make a Video for the Top 10 Worst Designed Characters... The Reasons for what makes a character have a bad design 1. Bad Execution (Ideas that are good on paper but in practice, is bad...) [Example: Little Mac, Lucario] 2. Hasn't Aged Well (If the Moveset hasn't aged well...) [Examples: Ganondorf, Donkey Kong] 3. Toxic Opponents (If the character is toxic online [Examples: Steve, Luigi] btw... putting Sonic as the Worst Designed Character makes 100% Sense because his moveset was a Bad Execution, it hasn't aged well and he is toxic online...
I think it is about time Ganon got a rework and stops being a Falcon clone. Like we get it, at the time Ganondorf had one game appearance, and he shared a similar skeleton to Falcon. But now Ganondorf has way more source material to work with, give him moves that work with his heavy powerhouse style.
I refuse to believe that Melee would've been the end of the line for him. If he didn't get in then, he'd be a popular fan request and would likely have gotten in by now regardless.
Going by your statement that Zelda has a lot of end lag on her moves... Going their trophy descriptions in Melee, Zelda was intended to be the hardhitter who's slow and can't combo, while Sheik is the combo queen who has trouble scoring a KO. (which clearly they didn't implement well, since Sheik is "Zelda but better") Going with that logic, that might be why Zelda has bad ending lag. It was to balance her with the quick and nimble Sheik. As for why they're still keeping this when Zelda and Sheik have become their own characters? Good question.
as an ex-zelda main from ultimate, im so dissapointed. I changed to a Palutena main recently, and she's awesome, but Zelda has such an important place in my heart. I tormented my family while maining her, especially because I was the best player out of all of us (even against my dad, who has played the original game) and I'm just sad that she's so terrible. I hope the Zelda rep can get better😭🙏
Zelda trio realy got the shortest end of the stick. A Hero that only becomes barely passable when he's younger, or a cartoon. A King of Evil that will never be done justice by official developers. A Princess having actual potential to be a cool ass character but then having her kneecaps blown the fuck out just because.
A notice: In smash ultimate and probably smash 4, the "bad" low tier characters are nowhere near as bad as they were in previous games. The lowest tier characters in these games are more like mid tiers in comparison in older titles. Many returning characters that have had a really bad streak are basically at their best in ultimate, even if they are still low tier EDIT: I think i angered the competitive smash folks with this one
yeah. Take ULT ganondorf for example. While he's at the bottom once more like in brawl, side by side: ULT ganondorf is easily better by a mile, especially his smash attacks. Down B is a very good option for chasing others from the stage to off of it with and if ganondorf shoots off the stage while charging forward, it actually seems to auto cancel or have less lag. He's easily less of a falcon clone than ever in Ultimate.
@@red-man7017 I'd personally disagree with this as a Ganondorf player. Especially with his Smash Attacks. The only good thing he gained in Ultimate from Smash Wii U was KO power. The gameplay changes in Ultimate have further hindered Ganondorf's poor moveset and aerial speed. He rarely gets a chances to escape combos and is too easy to punish. His Smash Attacks have extremely limited usage in a match and are too risky. They also have even more ending lag than in former Smash iterations, meaning that he is guaranteed to be punished or potentially KO'd if he fails to connect. When you weigh the many disadvantages against the few advantages he gained, Ganondorf realistically hasn't received any substantially improvement, whereas a few other low tier characters like Donkey Kong, Zelda, Pichu and King Dedede actually have improved (Dedede is not that bad, he's just too fat).
You have to realize it's all relative tho. It doesnt matter if ganon is 'better' in ultimate than smash 4 when every other smash 4 low tier got even bigger buffs than he did (i mean look what they did to palu) This is why he actually dropped in placement from smash 4 to ultimate Like yeah, his ult counterpart would easily be a mid tier in smash 4 but so what?..
Respectfully, as a Bowser main, I can see why he would be on this list, but I think he would be much lower. I would think he’d be at least number 7-8 mainly because of his comeback in smash 4 and ultimate. Melee and brawl Bowser were definite a couple of jokes to laugh about considering how bad they were in Melee and brawl. Bowser has definitely regained his level of skill in smash 4 and ultimate because of his speed and agility. I think Bowser is fun to play when you want the pressure from him especially if there’s a lot of people that play him. He’s definitely underrated and he definitely deserves another shot in the future smash game. Bowser definitely has the ability to go up against the best of the best, and he’s strong fully competitive when playing at tournaments. Hope to see Bowser get his chance at a better tier list in a future smash game.
It’s so upsetting that the Zelda characters are so terrible across the series. Link’s moveset doesn’t bother me too much but I think having 3 of the same moveset has made adult Link have to be the worst one. Zelda’s kit is great imo but WHY is she so slow and specialized and polarizing. Like they made her a glass canon that can’t do anything in disadvantage. And then there’s Ganondorf…..how is he still a Falcon clone. HOW. In melee I accepted it cuz he was added last minute but there was no excuse after that.
Well he is a decent mid tier in melee (Captain Falco was top5 in melee, and Ganon was more similar to him than in next games). Zelda has never been good in any game.
Hot Take: Pichu was overrated at the start of Ultimate. His early meta hype came from the game being new and unoptimized as players were still figuring out the meta, along with how Pichu worked after being gone from Smash for so long. His simple confirms let him thrive at the start as his counterplay wasn't developed yet, especially with the lack of resources like documented frame data. (Very standard among Fighting Games) His nerfs, while impactful, didn't gut him at all as many of his powerful confirms remained intact such as Bair Loops and Thunder confirms, but it was enough to convince his High-Level reps to drop him. It's theorized that Pichu wouldn't have remained a Top Tier even if without the nerfs as people got more use to the match-up, buffs were handed out to other characters and new powerful DLC fighters were introduced. So opinions on him would have inevitability dropped, but since we got patches, that ended up happening a lot quicker.
Yea I don't think Pichu would remain a top tier even without nerfs. People started playing way more defensively and learneed to SDI bair loops. That being said, hurting yourself more is such a bad nerf to get in the long term. Because people are playing more defensively, Pichu has to take so much more damage just finding ways in.
Krool's recovery is slower and more exploitable than Little Mac's imo, the only trouble is you have to repeatedly edge guard him bc it goes so far. He has zero mix so it's nothing more than a skill check, but that might explain why he's lower than you'd expect even with some solid tools
Robin no! 😭 But also I like the picture choice you picked for him, that’s one of his better iterations in FEH so it feels fitting the tactician is better in an rpg than a platform fighter 😅
with how much love the Hyrule Warriors game gave characters you don't really see fight like Ganon or Zelda, you'd think in a Smash title after them that they'd get a kit that closely resembles them, like Zelda could be rebranded as a pseudo sword fighter with a jack of all trades kit with her up b using the Wind Waker, or giving Ganondorf a WELL needed overhaul, while i LOVE Warlock Punch, we quite literally NEVER see Ganon USE this thing in ANY of the games he's in! hell the CLOSEST we've seen him use this move is literally in Hyrule Warriors! Ganon being a heavyweight character makes sense, the moves he was given are more COMBO moves than anything, and classic heavy characters like Ganon or Bowser would have a harder time landing those without making them faster but deal less damage so i feel like an massive overhaul of BOTH Zelda and Ganon would be a good fit especially since we have PLENTY of games featuring them fight in some way and don't even get me STARTED with Sonic
i saw worst characters and was like yep the hyrule tier from brawl is gonna be down there. I know we both feel that big hater energy they have against zelda -_- i think the one char i really didnt predict was lucas tho i totally blame the BT`s lucas being to good anyways vid was a fun watch man. algorithm go brr support the homies etc.
It’s well known how Ganondorf came to be a clone of a completely unrelated character in Melee. Sakurai has said himself that he just doesn’t care for the Legend of Zelda series, so he puts less effort into repping it in Smash compared to other series.
@@Waffletigercat Crazy considering LoZ is the second most popular Nintendo IP, and every single Zelda game generates imense hype. But I guess anime dating sim with chess is more hype for Sakurai.
If your curious about 64/link in general, the bottom 5 characters outside of Samus on top as she's the low tier gatekeeper are all pretty much interchangeable and they are all usable but have some terrible matchups. Ness does poor vs all floaties and Link just has a bad disadvantage state (think Ganon in every game) due to slow aerials. Luigi is just bad Mario due to bad aerial speed but is good in doubles and Samus is the borderline character as her range and aerials are good but her combos are terrible. DK has a good up b and grab but is combo bait and has bad disadvantage state. Humorously there's a European version of 64 where Link has better air speed so he's called eagle link. Also in the J version, the only really terrible characters are Luigi and DK as the game is very different. tl;dr version. in 64, floaties are bad and slower characters tend to be worse as 64 is advantage state the game. Yoshi/Rat/Falcon/Kirby are the top 4 for those exact reasons (as Pikachu/rat has the best advantage state/recovery, Yoshi breaks advantage state due to armor and is fast, Falcon is fast/easily kills, and Kirby has dumb hitboxes and destroys Falcon/probably wins vs. everyone but rat.)
@@GCLU very interesting to hear about! I appreciate the info. You mentioned that floaties are bad, was Kirby floaty in 64? Or was he just so good in every other way that it didn't matter
Man Bowser needs an overhaul. He doesn't act anything like how he should. As much as I love the dropkick, why isn't he punching? Why is he only breathing streams of fire, and not fireballs too? His throws make no sense for him to do, and the entirety of Flying Slam is horribly out of character. They should keep him a grappler, but make his commqnd grab like Incineroar's. And Dedede also needs one. Despite having more refrences to his actual character, why is he spinning his hammer for a forward tilt, and swinging it for his down air?
Brawl dair would help DDD stay around in the air and counter people who approach from below. It would probably be better but I also do really like his current dair. Has that strange property where it actually launched horizontally when you hit a grounded opponent and it can be a useful mixup
reason ganon has falcon moveset is 2fold: similar build, and not enough time to make a new character, as for why he remained a semi clone? Sakurai doesnt wanna remove familiar playstyles
@@MikeyDLuffy Still. It's not like Ness doesn't perform well in tournament. He performs pretty well normally. He's not in the top group but he does well enough to make a name for himself
I love this series so much My predictions were Ganon, Zelda, Doc, Kirby, Dedede, Bowser, Ike, Mewtu, Roy, Charizard / PT Got 7/10 Thats fine Next up please do the math for the about 15 remaining characters that were in 3 or more titles that are in the middle and with that a video were you present the order of all characters that were in 3 or more titles. Would really love to see that I am curious were my Main G&W for every smash game except 64 and Ultimate lands
I’m gonna go off on a tangent about worst titles. I’d say the worst is Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS. Like seriously, it would have been more marketable to just add a word at the end like “Infinite” or “Force” or even “Amalgamation”, just SOMETHING other than listing what console the game is for. To put this into perspective, one of the best Mario games is Mario 64, but I’ve always hated that title because the N64 wasn’t even around for very long, also we never got Mario 65 lol
I think ganon will be #2, Zelda will be #3, bowser will be #5, charizard will be #4, and dedede will be #1 Edit: Overall pretty inaccurate but I got ganon. Also was pretty close with Zelda, dedede, and bowser
The problem with Lucas is his normals are incredibly mixed - some are fine, others are really wonky, and some are so slow that they’re not usable outside of a ridiculous read. Additionally, he’s hard to play. So, most people look at him, see a character that takes good investment for middling reward, and decide he isn’t worth the effort. He CAN be deadly in the right hands, but people playing to win usually won’t pick a high risk-mid reward character. Additionally, they nerfed so many of his core combos that he had in 4. Down Throw especially killed him because it not only removed his best combos starter, but also his most reliable kill confirm on a character whose kill moves are incredibly slow to begin with. If Lucas kept his Smash 4 down throw, he would probably be 20-30 spots higher, no joke.
Ganondorf for sure, he's been the worst character in Brawl and Ultimate while also one of the words in melee and 4 Maybe Roy because he's been good only in Ultimate... but he wasn't as bad as others in previous title so idk. Zelda could be a guess, she's been mediocre at best and one of the worst at, well, worst. Jigglypuff could also be included since they've been considered pretty bad or mediocre, but melee might carry this character since they were top tier then. Mr Game and Watch shined in Ultimate but still had a history of being bad in previous titles. Dr. Mario has also been consistently worse Mario. Maybe DK will be on the list too. Last but not least. Little Mac is DEFINITELY getting into honorable mentions.
Haha all great guesses. Game and Watch was actually quite a bit off of making it surprisingly. He's never been in the lowest tier in any games, and was actually pretty good in brawl. And yeah his current Ult rank being 3rd just gives him way too many points
guessing the top 3 will be 1. ganon 2. zelda 3. maybe link??? (i dont remember his sm4sh performance) edit: somehow being worse than a two-time bottom 1 is very funny yet sad... also i forgot doc was a character LOL
As someone who tries to main Zelda it really sucks how easy it is to punish her. As you mentioned a few fixes to her end lag could make her so much more competitive. They really did do the Zelda series dirty.
i find it so strange that top tier characters like sonic or steve im fine playing against, but low tiers like zelda, i don’t even like playing against her. i’m not sure what everyone else thinks but i think zelda is one of the most annoying characters in smash ultimate.
Not even joking when I saw his placements in S4 and Ult I immediately thought of getting cooked by your Lucas on Wifi and not believing in those tier lists lmao
Honestly I wonder how much of characters who kinda need overhauls just not getting them is sakurai’s doing. Like no disrespect to the guy but if he’s been wanting each smash game to be the last for multiple iterations, AND a new director could mean revamps for old characters, I think it’s worth him just not being heavily involved with whatever the next smash title is.
I’m guessing Ganondorf, Zelda, or Kirby Edit: Honestly I forgot how good Kirby was in Brawl and 64. As for Ganondorf I am surprised that he didn’t make the bottom of the list just for Brawl alone
Luigi is high tier in wiiu, above average in ultimate, average in brawl and below average / bad in 64 and melee. Not sure how based on that you put him as one of the worst overall?
About luigi in ssb4 being 18th isnt considered ok in that game(he is alot more viable than most people think) because in the current tier list in that game he was rising alot due to his better success in 2017 & 2018 after his inconsistent moments after he got nerfed during his 2016 days (keep in mind B tier is not even mid tier in 4 its actually high tier in that game) As for ultimate as much i dont care for that game much what ive seen with raru showing how nasty this green plumber can do he's been going up in these recent tournaments what ive seen
As a Zelda/Ganondorf main, R.I.P. to me 😂 But also it's interesting how most of these bottom characters are definitely more "casual-strong", like they're quite powerful in casual battles. So perhaps Sakurai's vision of "competitive-to-casual balancing" is working out 🤔
I don't know if either will be at the top of the list, but before watching, I think Dedede and Ganondorf will be somewhere in here. I don't think I've heard an opinion of either ever even being decent.
Little Mac is my personal pick for the game's worst character. Not only when it comes to how viable he is competitively, but just his overall quality as a character. He's not a viable character, he's not a fun character, he's not a balanced character, he doesn't have creative or unique moves or mechanics (other than KO punch which is also terribly designed) and my biggest issue, he is the exact opposite of his character in the games. Mac isn't a glass cannon who dishes out huge damage with a single punch, he's not meant to be a character that can land one good blow to comeback after losing the whole fight. He's supposed to be a light, quick, agile boxer who uses his superior SKILL AND TECHNIQUE to beat his opponents who rely on brute force since they hit much harder and have much more resilience. They could've done so much with him and made him a really unique cool new addition. Especially because Smash doesn't have many characters who excel at ground based combos. Mac could've had a playstyle that used combos based on using jabs, tilts, dash attacks, and smash attacks. He could've been like a more ground based version of fox
I think on the K. Rool thing, that it’s good to note that you are right about his up-sides. Even though he is near the bottom of the tier list, he’s still a good character. That’s probably my favorite thing about Ultimate, every character still has a chance, it’s not as black and white as other games in the series
I love your style, been subbed for years. I figured ganon + doc would be the lowest, didn't even think of zelda... outside of smash, you ever get your hands on guilty gear? I find it to be the most compelling "traditional" fighter I've played and I'd love your insight on it.
Yeah I love Guilty Gear! I've made videos on some characters as they came out but besides that I kind of just play some Millia from time to time when I get the Guilty Gear itch haha. Definitely want to get back into it more when Venom and Lucy come out
Dr. Mario is pretty funny because the main reason he's better than Mario in Melee is because he wasn't balanced correctly to be the "slower but stronger Mario" -- he actually ended up being of equal speed or even a bit faster in some aspects.
-jiggs being 11th is sad, so close to top 10. -kirby is 10th, checks out but i forgot how good he was in 64 +i was tempted to pick dedede but thought he wouldnt be bad enough, right with that +wii fit trainer crossed my mind but i kept her off the list, not remembering which games she was in xD +bowser was mentioned, i was right!!!! +GANON!!!!! got this one too -didnt get zelda sadly
Ike imo is a good example that not every character needs to be balanced for 1-1 tournament style play. He’s a blast to play in free for all matches, tweaking him to be better in 1-1 would be boring
The character I am fully expecting to get top 10 is ganondorf. He's total ass in all 4 games he's in. He's bottom 5 in all the games but Melee, the one where lower tiers have some non-functional moves, so that isn't really saying much for him. I also do think that 2 games is good enough of a sample size because it would be a bit weird to say Little Mac being total ass in both of the games he's in doesn't mean he's a bad character. There may be only 2 games he's bad in, but he's in literal E tier on both games. Being bottom half in ultimate isn't all that bad since most bottom tiers can still be competitive, like how Pichu is still a competitive option despite being 53rd. Low placements isn't all bad, but being second worst in ultimate is SHIT.
Seeing Link here makes me so sad. Mained him pretty much every game out of love for him and just being comfortable with the playstyle. 5 year old me kicked the ass of 10 year olds with 64 Link back in the day. Good times.
Same. I mained link every game until Ultimate when they changed his moveset. I'm currently a Young Link main now bc his moveset is the most similar to Link's old moveset
Yeah, tears. Many, many tears. I was hoping for 4th place, and began panicking when Dr. Mario got 3rd. Was surprised when Ganon got 2nd, but to hurt to care anymore. Regarding Zelda's forward and back air, as a Zelda main, those are two of my favorite moves. I honestly hope they do not change her kit at all in future games, she just needs better frame data. If she was just a little bit faster, not only would she be fun to play, but she would be really good too. Heck, we can even keep her ranged attacks as slow as they are so she doesn't just cheese her opponents, but cutting a few frames of end lag on some of her moves would alone save her. Also, don't put her into freefall after her Up-B. Most modern characters don't, and they're OP because of it. Zelda is extremely vulnerable after her Up-B, and could really benefit from being able to snipe with Dens Fire, or use her airs to get people off of her, especially sense she's so easy to chase.
Aight, bottom 5 prediction not necessarily n order: ZELDA, LUCARIO, BOWSER, DEDEDE, DR. MARIO Edit: Ayyy pretty close not bad although in hindsight how the hell did I forget about ganon
Haha great guesses. Lucario was actually ranked fairly high in both Brawl and Smash 4 (relative to the other characters on this list) I was also pretty surprised when I checked. Haha I feel like Ganon is the first character to come to people's mind 🤣
As someone who played a fair bit of Ultimate the year it came out, maining Ike, and none at all since then, I did a triple take when I saw him at 71 on the tier list 😆. I thought I just had zero judgement in which characters were good. It's nice to know I wasn't crazy, but that he was in fact nerfed.
Its amazing to this day how everyone dreads the Metaknight. Even the name implies he's top tier OP and is restricted from tournaments. Even the CPU does well with the character.
You know I like how Best and worst character is basically determined by glitches Rather than actually be characters themselves And only on a small handful of stages
Not sure if this will effect the placement, but there's a spot in brawl where zelda and sheik share the same spot(not sure if we should count that out or not)
I'm calling it that Melee Kirby and Melee Bowser are just...so atrocious they definitely have to be two of the worst characters ever. Edit: I'm genuinely shocked Bowser is not even top 3. I cannot even begin to think who is top 3 then off the top of my head. God, Ganondorf in Brawl was one of THE worst characters ever in the games history I believe, so he's the only one I can even consider to be the worst/top 3.
Was expecting Samus to at least be an honorable mention. She's bad in 3 games (the actual worst character in Smash 64 depending on which tier list you use), okay in Melee and pretty good in Ultimate (kind of the opposite trajectory as Kirby).
I'm surprised Samus is not in the top 10 worst fighters. She's awful and smashed 64 and yes I get that she actually is really great in melee but aside from that as far as I'm concerned she's usually pretty low on the tier list.
Isn’t it easier to take their ratio in the tier list and just average it out across games? Essentially the closest ratio to 1 is the worst characters and closest to 0 would be the best characters.
I actually wanted to do that, but they used a different ratio for Ultimate for some reason and I wasn't exactly sure how it worked. The best character in Ult had a 10.4 and the worst had a 1.5 so i wasn't even sure what the scale was
@ oh I was thinking like literally their (placement/total number of characters) and if you wanted higher scores to be better characters you could just say Luigi gets a 1/12 instead of 12/12 for smash 64 for example.

In a perspective of game design instead of competitive Smash, I would say Sonic is one of the worst characters in Ultimate. If not, the worst.
@@SaddieMoon I couldn't agree more haha. Would be an interesting video to make but I'm not too sure how I'd go about the ranking
@@orangeslash1667 you're not smart
If Ganon wasn't near the top of mid-teir in Melee he would have so little points it would be comical
Make a Video for the Top 10 Worst Designed Characters...
The Reasons for what makes a character have a bad design
1. Bad Execution (Ideas that are good on paper but in practice, is bad...) [Example: Little Mac, Lucario]
2. Hasn't Aged Well (If the Moveset hasn't aged well...) [Examples: Ganondorf, Donkey Kong]
3. Toxic Opponents (If the character is toxic online [Examples: Steve, Luigi]
btw... putting Sonic as the Worst Designed Character makes 100% Sense because his moveset was a Bad Execution, it hasn't aged well and he is toxic online...
If Ganondorf wasn’t a Captain Falcon clone in Melee, he wouldn’t have been included at all.
Fair enough, but what's the excuse for every game afterwards LOL
If dorf not being in melee means that he isn’t a falcon clone brawl onwards, I’d rather he not have been in melee.
I would take that sacrifice if it meant having the real Ganondorf.
I refuse to believe that Melee would've been the end of the line for him. If he didn't get in then, he'd be a popular fan request and would likely have gotten in by now regardless.
Your terms are acceptable. I didn't start maining him until Brawl anyways.
Going by your statement that Zelda has a lot of end lag on her moves...
Going their trophy descriptions in Melee, Zelda was intended to be the hardhitter who's slow and can't combo, while Sheik is the combo queen who has trouble scoring a KO. (which clearly they didn't implement well, since Sheik is "Zelda but better")
Going with that logic, that might be why Zelda has bad ending lag.
Sakurai jealous because his games will never be in the same league as the Zelda series.
As further insult to injury for Link. When you take a look at his move set, Byleth is basically a better Link.
@@jsin22366322I’ve always wondered if Sakurai resents the Zelda series. Probably after his beef with Miyamoto over Kirby.
@@paladinslash4721 i'd be mad too if I had to compete against TLOZ with my mid ass Kirby games
A notice:
In smash ultimate and probably smash 4, the "bad" low tier characters are nowhere near as bad as they were in previous games. The lowest tier characters in these games are more like mid tiers in comparison in older titles.
Many returning characters that have had a really bad streak are basically at their best in ultimate, even if they are still low tier
EDIT:
I think i angered the competitive smash folks with this one
Yea agreed. I mentioned this in the last video with Ice Climbers in Ult but I definitely should have emphasized it here too. Good call
It doesnt matter if ganon is 'better' in ultimate than smash 4 when every other smash 4 low tier got even bigger buffs than he did (i mean look what they did to palu) This is why he actually dropped in placement from smash 4 to ultimate
Like yeah, his ult counterpart would easily be a mid tier in smash 4 but so what?..
@@xmalin1 what do you mean so what? it means that he's not unusable like he used to be
Respectfully, as a Bowser main, I can see why he would be on this list, but I think he would be much lower.
Agree with everything you said haha. We can only hope they get done better in Smash 6!
i am genuinely shocked that ganondorf isn't first
Well he is a decent mid tier in melee (Captain Falco was top5 in melee, and Ganon was more similar to him than in next games).
Zelda has never been good in any game.
Same
He got hard carried by the fact that he's Not Awful in Melee.
Hes so heavy and hits so hard people manage to make it happen with him
“You Ain’t no outsider Mac!”
Also, how fitting that Dedede is one of the worst characters in the game but Meta Knight was the best character in Brawl.
(Very standard among Fighting Games)
His nerfs, while impactful, didn't gut him at all as many of his powerful confirms remained intact such as Bair Loops and Thunder confirms, but it was enough to convince his High-Level reps to drop him.
Still did bro dirty with the patches
Krool's recovery is slower and more exploitable than Little Mac's imo, the only trouble is you have to repeatedly edge guard him bc it goes so far. He has zero mix so it's nothing more than a skill check, but that might explain why he's lower than you'd expect even with some solid tools
Yeah that's a great point. Haven't played against a Krool for too long haha, forgot how bad it was
As a Kirby main in Melee I'm just glad we made 10th and not 1st.
Robin no! 😭 But also I like the picture choice you picked for him, that’s one of his better iterations in FEH so it feels fitting the tactician is better in an rpg than a platform fighter 😅
@@SunburstSenshi haha yea the art for that Robin was way too nice, had to use it
with how much love the Hyrule Warriors game gave characters you don't really see fight like Ganon or Zelda, you'd think in a Smash title after them that they'd get a kit that closely resembles them, like Zelda could be rebranded as a pseudo sword fighter with a jack of all trades kit with her up b using the Wind Waker, or giving Ganondorf a WELL needed overhaul, while i LOVE Warlock Punch, we quite literally NEVER see Ganon USE this thing in ANY of the games he's in! hell the CLOSEST we've seen him use this move is literally in Hyrule Warriors!
I know we both feel that big hater energy they have against zelda -_-

anyways vid was a fun watch man. algorithm go brr support the homies etc.
@@HelLDeWs haha appreciate it man. And yeah Lucas's tier placings are way too low in both Smash 4 and Ult imo
@ its more of why isn't he doing the downwards hammer spin that he does in the games that he is playable in with similar hitboxes
@@DinkyKnag ...Yeah that's brawl down air. That's what I said
Kirby is just underestimated except in smash melee, that game was so unfinished.
@@Kaaby_Bluekirby Which game is unfinished? OG Smash, Melee, Brawl, Smash 4 or Ultimate?
@ I meant melee
@@Kaaby_Bluekirby Oh, yeah Melee is the one with an unstable control, while Brawl has a stiff control, and I regret playing this smash game
Sakurai said fuck it in ultimate and just said "pay 6$ for a good character" and that was his balancing
reason ganon has falcon moveset is 2fold: similar build, and not enough time to make a new character, as for why he remained a semi clone? Sakurai doesnt wanna remove familiar playstyles
Idk how Kirby and Ness ended up on the list outside of people sucking with them.
A good ness is soooooo difficult to deal with. Honestly, a top 5 character as long as the player controlling is as good as Ness’ skill set
Ness? Wow. I always thought he was one of the better characters of Smash Ultimate and one of the most improved design wise.
@@highlandave8507 same tbh, I was so surprised when I saw him on the Lumirank tier list. Much lower than I would have guessed

It's ganondorf isnt it?

I am curious were my Main G&W for every smash game except 64 and Ultimate lands
Zelda is bottom 3 in every game except Ultimate where she’s bottom 9… and Gannon is still worse. I think it’s Gannon😂
…nvm I reached the end ☠️
Ganon is a decent midtier in melee, that is what saved him from being the worst.
I think ganon will be #2, Zelda will be #3, bowser will be #5, charizard will be #4, and dedede will be #1
Edit: Overall pretty inaccurate but I got ganon. Also was pretty close with Zelda, dedede, and bowser
Super close!
I believe 100% the worst will be Ganon
Lucas just needs a bit more repersentation, I feel like that character has been underutilized in both smash4 and ultimate. Great vid tho!
Agreed my buddy mained Lucas for a long time and he was deadly with him.
Ganondorf for sure, he's been the worst character in Brawl and Ultimate while also one of the words in melee and 4
Maybe Roy because he's been good only in Ultimate... but he wasn't as bad as others in previous title so idk.
Good video
I think it would be neat to look at this sort of analysis to see which franchises tend to be the strongest/weakest in smash

i find it so strange that top tier characters like sonic or steve im fine playing against, but low tiers like zelda, i don’t even like playing against her. i’m not sure what everyone else thinks but i think zelda is one of the most annoying characters in smash ultimate.

I’m guessing Ganondorf, Zelda, or Kirby
Edit: Honestly I forgot how good Kirby was in Brawl and 64. As for Ganondorf I am surprised that he didn’t make the bottom of the list just for Brawl alone
Haha yea he might have deserved negative points for Brawl
Luigi is high tier in wiiu, above average in ultimate, average in brawl and below average / bad in 64 and melee. Not sure how based on that you put him as one of the worst overall?
About luigi in ssb4 being 18th isnt considered ok in that game(he is alot more viable than most people think) because in the current tier list in that game he was rising alot due to his better success in 2017 & 2018 after his inconsistent moments after he got nerfed during his 2016 days (keep in mind B tier is not even mid tier in 4 its actually high tier in that game)
As for ultimate as much i dont care for that game much what ive seen with raru showing how nasty this green plumber can do he's been going up in these recent tournaments what ive seen
yeah i meant okay moreso as in the number of points he got for the placement. He is well above viable/a threat in both games
Im not gonna guess a obvious pick (Ganon, little mac, dr mario)
Olimar maybe, Kirby, DK, Toon Link
I used to main sheik and saw how bad Zelda was ranked. So I felt bad for her and now she’s my main
@@Michaeldemented94 a true lowtier hero
As a Zelda/Ganondorf main, R.I.P. to me 😂 But also it's interesting how most of these bottom characters are definitely more "casual-strong", like they're quite powerful in casual battles. So perhaps Sakurai's vision of "competitive-to-casual balancing" is working out 🤔
I don't know if either will be at the top of the list, but before watching, I think Dedede and Ganondorf will be somewhere in here. I don't think I've heard an opinion of either ever even being decent.
haha great guesses! Although they were both decent in their debut games
Definitely want to get back into it more when Venom and Lucy come out
5. Zelda
4. Dr. Mario
3. Link
2. DK
1. Ganon
Where is the gameplay from in 15:23??
Hyrule Warriors on the WiiU. A great game. 👍
Ike being so low is crazy to me when most people I play with are genuinely afraid of the guy
Dr. Mario is pretty funny because the main reason he's better than Mario in Melee is because he wasn't balanced correctly to be the "slower but stronger Mario" -- he actually ended up being of equal speed or even a bit faster in some aspects.
jiggs and kirby are my first two thoughts when thinking of characters, then yoshi, bowser, and ganondorf for my top 5, not in any particular order
-jiggs being 11th is sad, so close to top 10.
-kirby is 10th, checks out but i forgot how good he was in 64
+i was tempted to pick dedede but thought he wouldnt be bad enough, right with that
+wii fit trainer crossed my mind but i kept her off the list, not remembering which games she was in xD
+bowser was mentioned, i was right!!!!
+GANON!!!!! got this one too
-didnt get zelda sadly
Zelda and ganon are going to be trash tier trust 2:02
would love to see someone do these calculations including pm, wonder if it would shake anything up
Anyone that doesn’t think it’s Zelda is wrong I haven’t watched the video yet btw but also love the consouls gaur plains
I'm already crying over how badly my girl Zelda is going to do. Not as bad as Ganon, however.
Aight, bottom 5 prediction not necessarily n order:
ZELDA, LUCARIO, BOWSER, DEDEDE, DR. MARIO
Edit: Ayyy pretty close not bad although in hindsight how the hell did I forget about ganon
Haha great guesses. Lucario was actually ranked fairly high in both Brawl and Smash 4 (relative to the other characters on this list) I was also pretty surprised when I checked. Haha I feel like Ganon is the first character to come to people's mind 🤣
Great Video, very well made 👏
As someone who played a fair bit of Ultimate the year it came out, maining Ike, and none at all since then, I did a triple take when I saw him at 71 on the tier list 😆. I thought I just had zero judgement in which characters were good. It's nice to know I wasn't crazy, but that he was in fact nerfed.
I'm guessing that Ganondorf will be the worst and Zelda will be in the top 5
the way i perfectly predicted the bottom 3 but everything else i got completely wrong and forgot to comment😭
How you feel about link, is how I feel about Kirby. I stopped playing after melee I believe but it seems impossible that he fell down that hard
As a Ganon Main, This was a painful watch. lol Great Vid though!
Its amazing to this day how everyone dreads the Metaknight. Even the name implies he's top tier OP and is restricted from tournaments. Even the CPU does well with the character.
Seeing Ike and Pichu on here would instantly kill a day 1 Ultimate player
Seeing Ness and Lucas on the list truly makes me sad, I love playing as both of them and I love them as characters and the games they come from
You know I like how Best and worst character is basically determined by glitches Rather than actually be characters themselves And only on a small handful of stages
I think while not so much competitive wise, I think game design wise across the series played a role for many.
I'll take a guess. It'll be Ganon.
Zelda will probably win? I don’t know her ranking in ultimate though
Dude! My link in 64 murdered every kid in the neighborhood. It got to where no one would play me anymore lol
Link being on this list is a crime! Lol
Everyone: "Zelda is the worst character in Smash History"
Me: *having a 85% win rate in Brawl online, 80% in Ultimate online with Zelda"
This is talking about tournament play, online and casual are irrelevant
Not sure if this will effect the placement, but there's a spot in brawl where zelda and sheik share the same spot(not sure if we should count that out or not)
I’m thinking Jigglypuff, King dedede, and Ganon are at least in top 5
1 out of 3. I’ll take it 😅
Would would jiggs be in top 5💀💀💀
The Triforce of Suck lol
I'm surprised Samus is not in the top 10 worst fighters. She's awful and smashed 64 and yes I get that she actually is really great in melee but aside from that as far as I'm concerned she's usually pretty low on the tier list.
@@Sly88Frye she's quite high in ultimate as we speak haha
