This was a pretty good episode might I say, this really does feel simple, short and enjoyable. But there’s still flaws I will be addressing. First up, the rejoin event. I like how you edited the sky to have a subtle gradient and clouds that match up with your artstyle, which is what a lot of people really forget is a thing to do. But putting these aside, this was just a basic running event and I feel like there could be more done, but again, this is a rejoin event, not the main event of the day. Now speaking now, I actually really love this event. I think car racing is an under-utilised event in algicosathlon, and this is probably the best iteration of car racing. I like the currently leading tracker, which makes it really easy to track when there’s very little difference between the cars. There’s also the surroundings, again feeling integrated with your artstyle. My two critiques about this are the recording, where the editing screen comes in. This sort of breaks the immersion of being a realistic event y’know. And secondly, it’s the toppling of the cars. Idk if that’s intentional but there’s actually an easy way of preventing this by adding two thrusters facing in the opposite direction of each other so that they cancel out some of the bounciness. This was something Mantra did with their cycling event. The other way is to slightly increase the inertia multiplier. This makes the cars not topple over without the rigidity that comes from the first one. Other than that the traffic light to indicate the start is a nice touch. Now coming onto the skits, this was pretty good. A nice dialogue of Blue and Lime talking about their mishaps in this and the sledding event. Then you have the rejoiner interacting with the other people which was also quite nice. The skit writing and aesthetics really do feel like a modernised version of John Dubuc in my opinion. The lip sync is also a nice touch, the editing was nice, the leaderboard is also cool. Yeah I quite like the episode, the pros do outweigh the cons of this episode and it was really simple and fun to watch. 7.8/10
The cars' issue of being toppled over was expected but I didn't think hard enough on how to counter this issue. I didn't realize that inertia multiplier is a thing you could modify and I didn't figure out how to use thrusters. I figured that the rejoin event should be simpler and shouldn't be longer than the actual event; running happened to be among one of the simpler events. I changed the color of the sky because Lavender blended with the default color (proven in days 1-4 &6) (also, more people should do that). I added a subtle gradient because it felt nice. The default algodoo clouds felt inadequate, so I started using custom clouds since Day 7. The leaderboard as shown at the start is inspired by Lvii; for the lip syncing part, my artstyle is restrictive in terms of mouth expression, but making them open their mouths every syllable and keeping their mouths open for how long a syllable is works well enough. anyways uh thanks for the review :wowcoolgood:
