A round of golf at Holywell golf club in North Wales. It's a par 69 inland links course that was founded in 1906.
The green fees were £20 for 18 holes in June 2022.

I'm James, a golfer with a dodgy swing now playing off a 13.1 handicap. I had taken 4 golf lessons to improve my swing on the day of play.
I'm looking to continuously break 90 on the courses I play. Even if I don't shoot a good score I always enjoy strolling around the fairways of North Wales, UK :-)

Thanks for taking the time to make these very enjoyable videos and thanks for the catchphrase 'We've got the par putt we wanted' which I find my self saying when I get the chance !
Love the course. Nice run of 3 pars in a row. My routine on Friday is look for your video, then I go to the course for a round. Keep up the great videos and playing James.

When I saw the title, and knowing the area where you have played your rounds, I immediately knew which course you were playing. Halifax West End is partnered with Holywell, played it a couple of times and really enjoyed it. No sheep when I played it.
Your chipping is v good - I’m going to watch your video on that and pick up how you’re doing it! Well done!

Great vlog as usual, it's always a treat when I see you have dropped another vlog. 15 over on 18 holes is decent golf, the 5th and 18th holes kind of torpedoed you from a great round. Good stuff, keepem comin. 👍

I've enjoyed all the videos that you've put up and watching your improvement along the way. I was watching the front 9 of this day out and I noticed during the 2nd 9 you was starting to feel the pain in your hand. Also noticed you was starting to rush your set up and not really looking at the target. So stay focused and happy days will come back and stay focused with working on the new swing the investment will be worth it..

Loved seeing the rest of this course vlog - it looks a good, quirky course and some very interesting holes! Defo one to add to my list to play at some point. Playing near the road with traffic on must be a bit daunting though!

You made a lot of progress over the time James its nice to see your own swing back. Just keep plugging away while the weathers nice! your game will even out and you will start pushing your game and have bad outcomes but if you stick with it you'll know your swing/game inside out.

Another great video James even with the distraction of sheep and dog-walkers!your 22 hybrid must be one of your favourite clubs.you seem to make good contact with it and off the tee it’s close to your driver.unfortunate about 18 with the OB could have been a couple of strokes or better.look forward to the next instalment.

course management alone would help you tremendously.
back to your old swing has helped the "left side" miss that the new swing was bringing in.
i say just aiming more left for your constant right side misses will help you score much better,
i still think a decent 5/7 wood will help you no end to pick up some of that distance loss on the long par 4's.
a 22° hybrid is just a high flying 6 iron in reality.
Still thoroughly enjoy watching your videos as it reminds me not to belt the cover off the ball and play within my own swing.
Well done James! Your short game is outstanding, and your swing is consistent.
If you go back for lessons, I hope you find a teacher that will work on improving your current swing, as you may only be a slight backswing adjustment from more power.

Nice round! Love that 22 hybrids you hit it well. I noticed a few rounds ago you smashed the 3 iron off the tee. When do you decide to use the 3 I? PS smart move dumping the swing change. Those can really damage your game.

Good round James, I'd forgotten what a lovely course You have at Holywell. Particularly enjoyed the video of the approach on The 17th. Doesn't doing all the camera work stop your rhythm? Do you play better when you are not recording?

Nope, it's the camera I record in 60 fps and it sometimes does that in the clouds.
You’re playing some good golf James, just the odd hiccup which we all get.

Probably need a couple lessons to fix that occasionally slicing it with the driver but overall well done dropping the handicap that much congrats
Enjoyed your round, which I could shoot that score. If your happy with your swing, you might think of getting a fitting for your driver,I'm using the ping 425 and it has helped with my slice, you might even get sponsored from some club manufacturer.
Maybe in the future. I think I will do a range video soon showing all my stats for different clubs which will be interesting. Thanks for watching :-)

Well played bud. Question - if you can stripe that 22 degree to 213 yards off the tee (as per 17th...), consistently straight.... have you played a round with the driver in the car and use that instead?
Cheers mate, that hole was deceptive as it was a dogleg and got a nice forward bounce. My 22° hybrid goes 175-190 yards usually. I might play a round with only the 3 wood off the tee as I can really hit that when I connect properly. Thanks for watching :-)

Do you have your phone on a tripod to get the shot tracer? I would like to record mine and get distances.
Yes, you need the camera to be stationary to do the tracer thing properly
Great round. Why was it a two shot penalty on the 18th from the tee ? I thought it would just be 3 of the tee if the first shot was out of bounds.
OB Stroke + Distance penalty is 2 shots. I should have hit a provisional from the tee but thought the first one was in play.

What putter did you end up getting?
A Cleveland Huntington Beach Soft Putter. I have to change the grip from oversize to standard though as I don't have the yips (yet). Looking forward to using it for the next couple of months :-)
Keep on with the lessons James, you are a good golfer without them but I think you’ll be a low single figure player after them eventually

Shouldn't the last hole be 1 shot better than you recorded?
I didn't hit a provisional off the tee as I thought it was in play. The ball was out of bounds meaning a 2 shot penalty for the drop. This is how I understand the rule.
James let say god forbid a player strikes a sheep with the ball and harms that sheep is the player liable for the injury?
Not sure, all I know is on this day I didn't harm the livestock! :-)
