I work at a small independent living retirement home and I make the residents their meals. I get free rein to make whatever I wish (within reason- no fois gras, lobster thermidor, or kobe steaks... haha) so often I come to your channel and get inspiration. And I can very often make your recipes the same day I watch the video as they are that clearly explained, and easy to follow. I think those donuts are making it onto the menu today for dessert, and the breakfast bars for tomorrow morning. Thank you

@@dannijoshua1292 ugh, I am so sorry to hear that! There are pros and cons to my place of employment. Everyone gets a fresh and hot meal, but it's a one man show so dinner is dinner. If it's fish tacos, there are no other choices. As it is so small though, I know the residences preferences and can omit certain things from their plates.

The amount of people commenting it's not healthy. It's healthier than a lot of alternatives. And these are healthy. People have become afraid of food it seems.

    For anybody interested:
It is possible to make the strawberry oatmeal bars without butter! My mother has issues processing fats, but I still wanted to bake something she could try too. I replaced the butter with 1/2 of a cup of Silk's Vanilla Soymilk, and it was absolutely delicious!
Thank you so much for this great recipe, Chef John. We're definitely going to be making this often!

Yes, you could. Mix a quarter cup of flour , and just a tablespoon at a time of water to get a crumbly batter, you can press into the pan.

Chia for breakfast is great if you soak the seeds in almond milk and when it starts to thicken, mix in greek yogurt. I put that in the frig overnight and in the morning mix with berries. It's my go-to breakfast and keeps me satisfied all morning! No sugar needed and lots of protein and fiber!

Tasty fresh strawberries aren't always available. At least not where I live in Indiana. What about apple breakfast bars? Or blueberry? I like the idea of fresh fruit instead of preserves. I've made breakfast bars with preserves and thought they were too sweet. Thank you, Chef John.

These look wonderful, I will definitely give them a try.
Recently I have been buying thick rolled oats to make refrigerator oatmeal. 1/3 cup of those, a tablespoon each of flax and chia seeds, some cinnamon, and one cup of milk. Plus a generous sprinkling of berries. Soak in the fridge over night, microwave a couple minutes in the morning.

I follow a lot of cooking channels, but between disabled lack of energy and the fact I'm making very slow progress on my phobias of both stovetop & oven cooking, so much of it will just never be something I can use. These baked goods look like good excuses to push myself a step further than pervious on oven phobia, though, and not _too_ too difficult before that! Esp that granola bar, that looks much tastier than anything store bought.

As someone who has some nasty low periods, a lot of Chef John's recipes still feel manageable because of how good his instructions are. If you have not tried it, I highly recommend his peanut chicken curry recipe. It's a one pot recipe, not that many steps, fast and makes you feel like you did a really good job after you are done. And super nutritious.
Also highly recommend a rice cooker if you don't have one because it makes life even simpler.
