Loved the tidbit about toe to heel and bringing your feet together. All the transition videos talk about the beginner stagger, but don’t mention that! Awesome!
This really came just at the right time! I've only just started the quarter pipe a couple of days ago and I'm getting the hang of things slowly. One of my main problems is that I tend to end up jumping up to the top rather than rolling up to the coping of the quarter pipe. I'm not used to the feeling and I still get scared hahaha. I can't wait to try out your tips when I hit the quarter pipe again!! Thanks :)
Dropped in my first quarter pipe today...at 38 years old! Then stayed at the ramp for 3 hours, just repeating the movement. Was absolutely buzzing. Tried get a few stalls on the coping but would always overshoot onto the top. Anyway just gonna keep chipping away at it. Real happy
Dude, this is super-gold stuff man. I wish I knew the nuances of transition when I first started skating - just had to figure it out with lots of falling! Ok at it now though😁 Props to you. Your a fantastic teacher !👍
Going to be working on doing more quarter pipe riding/tricks and couping grinding this time around. Looks like so much fun. But then again you do make it look easy lol. 😂
Dude I wish we skated quarters back in the day. There's so much value from skating them. Like riding a wave! So fun!!! I had to completely change the way I skated when I came back. That was the best part. Getting to relearn something i love to do. Have you tried to connect with the blade fam out there?
@@joshacosta7986 yeah I'm trying to approach my skating differently this time. We haven't had a chance to meet up with anyone yet. I know Lawrence and Long are out here. There have been a couple meet ups but we haven't been able to go. But that's on the list for sure.

Thanks fir the tips, they worked a treat! I had my first go on a quarter pipe today and managed to get on top, drop in and stall in soul and frontside!
Never had access to vert growing up so learning has been a whole lot of fun. I definitely struggle with the coping so I really appreciate this. New 50/50 wheels coming in today, can't wait to bring them to the vert this weekend! Thanks a lot man, keep killing it!
Nicely put together tutorial. Thanks! Im just about managing to get out and land on my feet but wasn't sure where to go next. Will definitely try this soul stall and back in.
Thanks for your tutorials! They are great and thanks to you I gave switch tricks a go. For me, however, it was much easier to try them on coping rather than on ledges (currently learning to stall all the soul tricks switch on a low coping but on ledges I'm still a bit terrified). It has to do with my dominant foot and shoulder being the left one, so actually doing a switch soul feels more natural rotationwise, while a normal soul feels more natural to lock but more difficult to turn (same with "switch" frontsides). Also not having to jump into the grind helps for me. Maybe something worth mentioning in the next quarter pipe tutorial?
Awesome vid and very helpful. Been waiting for this one! I'm gonna try visualizing the heel-toe action and see how that helps. I'd love to hear tips on backside stalls!! Those are killing me right now! Something about getting up there and turning my back to the coping...Thanks again!!
you are a very good instructor, thanks a lot for all these tips, I'll try them next time I go to skate park, I'm a rollerblader for a while but I got my first aggressive skates recently, so I would like to try a lot
I have some mental barriers to fight before I can take proper advantage of these tutorials. Mostly working on my 180s on ramps until I feel comfortable facing the quarter, and also just riding up and then going down fakie. I'm ridiculously terrified of not knowing what to do, and it's keeping me back... I wish it stopped raining here, even for just a couple of days! It's been more than a month since I last hit the skatepark.
Amazing introduction for the kids Highway 1 broccoli salad Zk my son is addicted SOC anywhere Roblox I don't know how to wait for giving angel instructions amazing video good good good luck
I'd say press firmly and evenly onto or into your grooves. Dont allow an imbalance to occur. Left leg or right... stay solid when dropping back in. Hope that helps. Let me know how it goes
@@joshacosta7986 Oh,I might try that because I always have the same problem, slipping of from quarter pipe when it's all waxed, when no wax it's all fine

@@joshacosta7986 What should we take into consideration with different skate configurations, regarding quarter and coping? Like on recreational skates without any h-block space, or between flat and antirocker?
Maybe try leaving slightly back as you go up the quarter, waiting for that perfect moment to lean at the top once your feet lock on. Wear a helmet while learning this, Good luck and get that front side laced!
@@acostablades8138 thanks fam! I actually kept practicing earlier this week and that is exactly what I needed. It was nice to get it again! I’m glad! Thanks for replying🤙🏽
I dont have any problem going up over the coping, doing 180s, sometimes doing transfers..... but i really have a problem on getting my stalls, the momentum always push me forward and its hard to lock into coping, do you have any tips on my problem? ill appreciate it! 😁😁
question! i'm using a freestyle setup. not anti-rockers or flat. would it be much harder to roll all the way up to stall? feels like i'd slip before i'd lock in the groove
Depends on your bearings and skill level. My son skates free style and can slide this coping. But on higher obstacles he struggles to make it to the top. You'll be alright depending again on skill level and speed. Once at the top you should have no problem locking in.
Nobody covers how to get over the coping, I've been carving ramps for like a year but have never really figured out how to pop over it and actually get on top of the ramp without scrambling up once I get to the top
Thanks! Approaching 40 years old and this will help me work on my weakness. Never too late
