I skate 5 years , by normal rollerblades. Now i bogugh agressive ones. I feel like alone child at school , perhaps your videos will make me skater ....again .
You have consistently been the best for tutorials. I'm 32 and just started aggressive inline and I just want to say thank you for these videos. After your videos, I always feel more confident I will have the proper guidance I need to attempt a new task/trick. I like that you always break down the steps building up to the move. It's much less intimidating knowing I can focus on one thing at a time. Looking forward to coming back for the next one.
Hey there, thank you very much for your awesome feedback! I'm really happy about! 🙂🙏 However it's my pleasure to help others like you getting into my favorite sport and passion! It's very important to focus on the small steps, because masteirng the small steps let you improve the movements for the whole trick. Moreover in this way you overcome fear and won't hurt yourself that much, if failing a trick or missing the ledge/coping. BTW. During the last weeks there were a few new tutorials about freestyle slalom skating and more will come. In addtion we also plan to film many new tutorials for aggressive inline skating, so I'm looking forward to edit and publish new tutorials, which hoepfuly help you with your progress. ✌
Omg I wish I had access to such tutorials, back in the 90s, when I bought my first pair of Aggressive Skates, I had no idea what I was doing, that learning curve, was so painful, my hip was screaming "wtf are doing to me" those curbs have no pity on you, I'm sure they hate skaters mare than anything. I'm glad I didn't quit, because the reward was amazing. Still this tutorials was awesome and would have saved me from a lot of pain I think. Cheers from Denmark
Thanks for the video, some good practice tips for me to follow. I just brought my second pair of Roces. Im 36 and I got my first pair when I was 12… probably 23-24 years since I last wore skates. Can’t wait for them to arrive and put this into practice!
Hi! I just wanted to say thank you so much for your videos. I'm trying to get into aggressive inline, and the way you break things down step by step is super helpful. Looking forward to more videos, and I keep coming back to this one, as no matter how many times I try I can't grind! My feet either slide out too fast, or my wheels catch and I stop. Gotta work on that timing.
Hi! First of all, thank you very much! I really appreciate your feedback! 🙂🙏 I'm really happy that you finally get into aggressive inline, it's just an amazing sport, better to say a real passion! Regarding to grinding, the very first grind is a big step! If you get stuck with your wheels, maybe an antirocker setup will help you to manage it! Slide or slipping away too quickly mostly depends on low muscle power and muscle coordination. But don't worry, it' getting better every day you go skating! 😉 Just keep on going!
Great video! Subscribed 💪🏾 i owned rollerblades 25 years ago and loved it! @ 48 i just ordered my first pair of aggressive in line skates. Due to covid they are taking forever 😡 I've watched/liked all your videos. Can wait to put all your tutorials into action.
I really appreciated the video. I havent skated since i was 16 and now im 29. Im looking to get back into it so i thank for the tutorial Daniel. Nice work. Great explanations.
I also skated when I was at the age of 6 to 10. I am now 32. Now I’ve bought some new Valo tv.3 skates. Back in de day I could do some basic grinds. Now when trying to soul grind, my ankle kinda hurts when trying to slide in the side of my foot. Looks like my ankles aren’t that flexible 😂
Thank you for the help. I’m getting my first pair of USDs soon and I’ve been wanting to learn how to grind. This was extremely helpful. Did anyone else notice TH-cam’s bomb at attempting to subtitle?
Thank you man" Thanks for your comment and your subscription. And hey, welcome to our great and awesome community! If you need any help just leave a comment down below any video! 🙂✌ On tuesday, I hope this tutorial will help you by learning these two grinds.
I actually am able to do a soulgrind with my freestyle skates! It is extremely hard to jump into it, because the part of my skates I can kinda stand on is round and small. But it works sometimes and that is great.
The only place in my neighborhood where I can learn to grind is a small but steep and deep pool, now I mastered stuff like 360 fly out and 180 air, but I can’t seem to figure out how to do a 180 and get the coping, I always fly over or undershoot it. And backwards is for me a step after this. I can grab onto stuff easily but those things aren’t grindable. Help..!
I need some advice. I would like to know if aggressive inline skates make it more difficult to do step over turns or basic movements on skates. I want to buy some skates but I can't decide between inlines or aggressive inlines. I want to grind but I also want to be able to turn with ease. What should I do?
For this case you should buy an aggressive inline skate with a flat setup, like the Aeon Basic 60: www.skamidan.com/produkt/usd-aeon-60-basic-black-2019/ The shorter the frame the easier to turn or better: The shorter the wheel base the easier to turn.
Tried starting easy and fell on my hand. Hurt for a long time lol. Took a break from aggressive skates and have been just doing free-riding. Supper slippery grind on pipes for sure!
The completely red ones? Those are the "VALO Blood Light". The black and red is a customized USD Carbon black. However both of them are sold out and are no longer produced... :(
I'm sorry, but I must say I've never grinded a real handrail yet. But for a good balance try to shift your body weight directly over the rail. Maybe it helps if you jump onto the rail straigt from front.
I’m late to the party here. But I can try to help. When you go to do a soul grind. You want most of your weight on your heel of the boot doing the soul. Your front leg is primarily used to balance and you shouldn’t have much ( if any) weight into your leading foot. You also want to make sure that for a ledge, you want to be leaning on top or slightly inside of the obstacle. However, if you’re grinding on a rail, you want your weight balanced primarily center and a touch back ( center weight between your heel and your body). Hope that helps :)
I've been very adamant in using this tutorial from you as my first grind but I keep forgetting that I ride a flat setup. I've gotten to the stage of hopping on and trying to slide my feet (which is a real workout while trying to balance) but is there any weight distribution I should take into account or foot posture as I am a flat rider?
Thank you! Which kind of flat Frame are you using? 4 wheels with a small groove to grind in the middle (at each frame)? If so you need a good precision to handle the Frontside Grind. For your first times try to keep your weight in the middle between of both of your legs, like a triangle ( * ). The star is your point of balance (body weight), the underlines are your skates! ( * ). As a flat rider the next step you should try is to angle your feet (skates) as much as you can, so that you grind more on the sides of your frames grooves. Is that what you liked to know? Does it help you?
Alright, thank you. So you have to angle your skates as much as you can to grind more on the sides of your small grooves than in the middle (bottom part) of it. 🙂✌
Well then, I've been doing it all wrong. I've practiced stalls landing on the centre of the h-block. I did notice, considering that the curb I'm trying to grind is not a nice 90 degree angle, that my wheels still did touch more than the frame when I was practicing the stall portion. Thanks for confirming my terrible suspicions and and the advice. I will make a couple small changes to my training plan and hopefully I can report to you some good progress. Thanks as always Daniel! Oh before I forget, I am currently riding on a 4x58 Ground Control formula 1 but may be changing to the mega very soon.
Hi ! Great tutorial but i have a prolem when i am trying a soul grind I stop immedietaly and with frontside i go very fast even at slow speeds . Could you pleas help me ?
Hey Jaro, first of all, thank you very much! :) I'll help you for sure. In the frontside position you will grind much faster, that's norma. But while doing any soulplate based grind like the soul grind the most of your bodyweight is ordinary shifted to your soul foot, not to your frontside foot. That means you will use your frontside foot just for balancing in case you do not fall forwads. The clue to not get stuck on your soul food, try to shift your bodyweight to the whole soul plate, not only to the front part of your soul plate. To do so, you have to bend your knees to bring your butt further back, than the back wheel of your soul foot. I hope it will help you! But hey, I also have a special how to soul grind tutorial. You will find it over here: th-cam.com/video/0HV3lFIfbhs/w-d-xo.html
Just wax the grooves, soulplates or obstacles if necessary. In most cases you don't need wax to practice or refresh your grinds. Should you need wax, so you can wax your groove, soul plates and/or obstacles. Be free in the things you do.
For normal (casual) or fitness skating I would prefer fitness or urban skates, no aggressive skates. But using aggressive inline skates you will have a better protection for your ankles. Using both kinds of skates you can use different set ups for skating: th-cam.com/video/Do7l-dlMGpk/w-d-xo.html This video only shows examples for aggressive inline skates, but there are also different mounts for fitness or urban skates, like the trinity custom frames for POWERSLIDE trinity skates.
Hey Jayson! 🙂 If you need grind wax it depends on the obstacle you want to grind on. On real uneven curbs you need grind wac for sure, but on rails, or curbs, copings, ledges at the skatepark. For your first try and practicing, in my opinion it's better to not use that much slippery obstacles. But however, if it isn't able to grind on an object, because it's not slippery you should wax for sure! It's also able to use candle wax instead of grind wax.
i could slide only if i get much of the speed! and is high risky. if speed is low or middle i just stall on it! i try it in skate park on different types of rail. i made p rail by my own PMC and wood like others built. and the same, just stalling! no slide at all, i can't understand what's wrong. ....

Can you do these with 4 wheel skates?
Every time you say jump I hear chomp, but it works because your skates are effectively chomping onto the obstacle with their souls and H-blocks.

Are aggressive skates good for just normal skating without grinding Too or only good grinding and not actual skating?
For normal (casual) or fitness skating I would prefer fitness or urban skates, no aggressive skates. But using aggressive inline skates you will have a better protection for your ankles.
Using both kinds of skates you can use different set ups for skating:

I have 1 question: do I need wax to grind?
Hey Jayson! 🙂
If you need grind wax it depends on the obstacle you want to grind on. On real uneven curbs you need grind wac for sure, but on rails, or curbs, copings, ledges at the skatepark. For your first try and practicing, in my opinion it's better to not use that much slippery obstacles. it depends on the surface
He used something to make the böades slippery? Or just vanilla?
Wow 25 minutes after my Comment and first try ever I did a 30 cm grind. Thank you
Did u wax the rail?
Wish you lived in Australia and could take lessons
i could slide only if i get much of the speed! and is high risky. if speed is low or middle i just stall on it! i try it in skate park on different types of rail. i made p rail by my own PMC and wood like others built. and the same, just stalling! no slide at all, i can't understand what's wrong. ....
It's more about the correct and deep posture, however also how much wax you're using. 👌
