I’m confused by the negative comments. He clearly said what type of paint to use (outside) and he wasn’t selling the product himself.
If you want to paint the outside, use solar reflective paint.
If you want to paint the inside, don’t!
    There ya go.

I painted mine over 6 years ago. They still look great. You so relize that many companies sale speacial paint just fore vinyl and aluminum. Ive seen videos where people even use krylon paint in a can on thier windows and its lasted a longbtime and looks really good.

You know how it goes when anyone says “can’t”.
Listen, there’s always a way. Mask everything off on the outside or inside with quality blue tape and masking paper, clean the surface, sand, the surface, dust it off, apply a degreaser, get the surface. Nice and clean. Yes apply UV primer and paint or just paint. If it’s a single component, this will be in an aerosol can. Do not over. Apply less is more do not apply in direct sunlight. Good luck should turn out great thank you and great video. ❤

I'm looking at buying black solar painted vinyl windows from the manufacturer. Are these more reliable than a DIY painted version?

Glad I found your video. I’ve been wanting to paint the vinyl on my Andersen sliding door a darker color, but didnt think it was possible until someone at a Sherwin Williams paint store said it was possible with their vinyl safe paint colors. I was looking for something very dark for the window trim on the windows above the door and wanted to match both as close as possible to each other. They claim these colors are safe to paint vinyl siding which I assume they must contemplate exposure to sun. What is your feeling on this? Thanks!

Sherwin makes a paint color called “dark of night” that uses no black pigments. It looks blue until it dries.

They can make a great many of their colors vinyl safe. Using various different pigments. I used some on Boral which is a composite trim board with it (very dark brown like oil rubbed bronze color). Left in the hot sun for hours and it felt cool to the touch. The color match from their computer was off but the guy at the store customized it and it was a great match after drying. It looked purple when it was wet. Impressive product.

I’ve never found a video of someone showing their warped windows from being painted black.

He specifically said vinyl windows require special paint not wood, metal, or fiberglass.

I'm having trouble with my wooden window sills. They get a lot of weather, and they are already cracking severely and the paint is peeling off like rubber. And I just painted them 8 months ago. I'm going to try epoxy this time for the cracks, but what am I doing wrong with the paint. I used good quality paint and primer, but it starts to go bad right away. I wonder if the solar reflective paint would help at all here.

use a better primer than just a kilz 2. try a bin primer or even a bonding primer.

sherwin willimams has an industrial acrylic, just as good if not the same thing the manufacturer uses. will probably void your warranty, but just on the finish, not the window glass, etc. it is all in the prep work. 220 sand paper lightly to take the shine off only. clean it really good, paint does not stick to dirt. tape off anything not vinyl like rubber around the window with blue tape. better to put on 2-3 light coats, than one thick runny mess. pella 250 series are good, but only come in , white brown or black for exterior colors, no almond like colors and they charge you up the ass.

Are you also including spray paint cans? If not, what are your thoughts on spray painting for the interior? Is there a specific brand you would recommend like Rust-Oleum or Dupli-Color that could withstand high temperatures? Thanks

Hi, I have vinyl windows and I made the mistake to order them white and live in a condominium where the windows and the outside have to be a dark bronze or black. What are my options please advise.

Use car bumper paint. They are made to adhere to plastic and meant to be in the sun.

When you say on the inside. Do you mean the inside of the house. Or the trim on the house side of the house

Then colored windows should cost the same as the white ones

Well this confirms my plan looks like I’m only painting the trim and leaving the window itself white

So, the interior window I want to paint do not open. They are just a picture window. Do you think I could spray paint them. Interior only!

This guy speaks the truth. It is easy to paint vinyl windows but if you don’t use the correct paint they can seriously warp from the sun. I have been in the window business for 30+ years. You know sh*t moron.

    • @nataushalight1684

It can happen though. I learned the hard way when I had a contractor paint my vinyl siding to a dark gray color from a light yellow. The south facing side of my house warped like an old VHS cassette left in the sun. It was crazy. I think it really depends on if you start with a light color and try to go darker. It can be done, but you really need to get the correct type of paint that is specifically made to not absorb heat, especially if you live in a hot climate.
