Power issues and gauges are from the thermal disconnect at the fuse block getting hot from bad amp flow/heat. When power is lost on a Jeep it won't idle on it's own. You have to give it a LITTLE pedal at first and then the computer will figure out what temp, altitude, etc and "learn" to idle. If that doesn't work try starting fluid to see if the fuel pump died etc. If that doesn't work check for spark. If you have fuel pressure, but no spark and not injector pulse then you need a crank snsr.
the original saabkyle04, oh I miss you :) I hope you will do a lot more of these "oldschool stuff" in the future, start ups/night start ups, lot updates etc. :) keep up the good work!
Thanks for making this video Kyle. Ive been a long term subscriber since you started off at the dealership. I was pretty stoked when I saw the picture of that jeep you put on facebook lol. Awesome videos!
They only sweep when the wrong voltage is sent or not enough voltage is sent. They have a sort of neutral where they remain in, and when the gate opens, they end up sweeping because the voltage is lost.... Or something of the sort
I've been looking forward to this video, and it was defiantly nice seeing you shooting using your old format. It would be cool if you made some videos like this every so often. Good luck with the jeep if you guys decide to fix it, maybe it will find an owner who will actually take care of it.
Chrysler was going through some tough times then, my 2004 Pacifica, which I have a video of on my channel, had its engine replaced at 97,000 miles because it never started the first time, required constant pedal pumping to actually start, misfired like hell before it finally started. But the freaking problem is, as soon as it started, it ran beautifully and smoothly and without smoke or anything. As soon as you turn it off though, you have a hell of a time getting it back up...
Neutral safety switch would keep the starter from spinning. Take the oil fill cap off to see if the rocker arms are moving with someone cranking the engine. If they're not moving then the timing chain is probably broken. If they are moving it could be a blown head gasket which would give it low compression. Check for spark at one of the spark plugs also check if it smells like gas, that way you know what it's not getting. Or get your mechanic on it.
You sure there was enough gas in it? the gauge read way below E that might've been the problem :/. As a Grand Cherokee owner myself I love that you brought us an update on this Jeep! Continue to do so please!!! I think the whole old saabkyle tribute thing is pretty cool you should do more.
Kyle, I think it is a safety switch that's preventing the engine from starting. A girl I know has an '02 Pontiac Grand Am that has some feature that prevents it from starting cause it thinks it's being hot wired! It's so weird cause the engine itself is fine and she's gotten stuck twice because of that switch preventing the car from starting. That engine sounds like it has compression but something it's not getting spark for some reason. Possibly lack of gas or it could be a switch.
The neutral safety switch will keep it from even cranking over. Sounds like its cranking normally, You either arent getting fuel, or spark. Most likely a bad pump or distributor
i guess u just have to leave it there for the moment since the transmission and mechanical stuff got wrong again. but the cat is really cute! :) im a big fan of yours kyle, keep it up
Wow, I remember when you first made the videos about that Cherokee! That Jeep keeps coming back like a bad smell huh ? Ha ha! When the TH-cam homepage loaded 5 minutes ago, I saw the screen shot of the Jeep, and couldn't believe my eyes! I haven't seen that Jeep in a video since your last one it featured in back in 2009... How time flies when you make great videos! I gotta say though, after sitting 4 months you got a starter motor click!? That is actually good after that long!
Turns out it wasn't blown. It was just the neutral safety switch preventing it from starting. The original engine in this Jeep however was blown due to neglect by it's owners not changing the oil. They put an engine in it (the one in it in this video) and sold it and it came back again with this problem and a busted transmission. Check his channel for older videos of it and an update video he did of it all fixed and driving it back in February. It's suffered a lot of neglect in it's life.
I'm one of the newer ones that found this over the summer, and It's worth saying I'm actually going back and watching the videos in order from the beginning, as well as watching the new ones... wow this jeep's changed. as of this time, I'm on the 08 BMW M3 that was posted on August 2nd, 2009
This is electrical. No gas would be the crank no start. Maybe if they spent as much time on actually fixing the vehicle instead of making videos about what happens if you don’t take care of it then videos will be shorter. It’s not a NSS.
the 1999-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee was assembled in Detroit, Michigan, United States Graz, Austria Beijing, China Córdoba, Argentina (until 2001) Valencia, Venezuela
@PaperWeight231 Odds are it wasn't a "new" engine that they put in--- Most likely it was a used engine from a salvage yard--- which means it was probably a bad engine or high mileage
I'd say Darude Sandstorm but I accually know, I mean I knew remix of that so I checked in comment section and found out that it was remix of Britney Spears-I want to go, which is the tittle of the song played in radio. Its nice feeling to help someone :D The remix is calleg Give me that beach if you would like to check.
Jeep needs a little TLC with the right owner. I got a 99, oddly with only 78,000-ish miles and it runs like a champ. Keep the oil clean and gased up and that's about it. Been a very good car to me.
The lift supports have stopped working for my 99' Grand Cherokee as well, and my friends 01' JGC. Must be something pretty common, in 99-04 style grand cherokee.
As for the engine, it sounds like it is knocking while it cranks, so it is probably blown like the last. As for the gauges, it still has that twitching problem!? Wow...
@1964mm From your car and this car you conclude Chrysler was going through tough times? My parents bought a 2004 Pacifica new in 2004 and still have it ( I watched your video and it is actually exactly like the one you bought- color and all). They haven't had a single issue and have only had to bring it in for scheduled maintenance. It now has 110,000+ miles and still starts, runs, drives, and looks like new. The previous owners of your Pacifica probably didn't keep up on engine maintenance
Hey Kyle! From personal experience, I have found out that if you let the door chime finish after turning the key to the "on" position, you will have better luck of the car actually starting.
@saabkyle04 as a mechanic i refuse to believe this. the first thing i would check is that there is fuel in the tank, then check fuel pump, and ignitoin system.
Ah man, I remember these times. Glad to have been a long term subscriber :D
I hope to see more of videos like these, keep it up man!

Geez do you guys know a joke?
the sound of the horn made me laugh hard XD
Lmao
Ikr lol 5:04
@@thatonefenderedition Buchyn
SAME- omg
I love this Jeep, but those needles on the gauges going up and down had me dying 😂😂
Tristian Lent that's what happens with electric gauges when the battery is dead and you're trying to pull even more power out of it
Gabe Ulrickson oh I see, thanks for the advice
Tristian Lent these vehicles also had a gauge sweep issue
I found your channel back in 2010 on a scion tc video you rock kyle i will be ur fan for ever.
you HAVE to do more like this again! I love these!
the original saabkyle04, oh I miss you :) I hope you will do a lot more of these "oldschool stuff" in the future, start ups/night start ups, lot updates etc. :) keep up the good work!
That crowbar ping tho, was really satisfying
Cute random cat
Thanks for making this video Kyle. Ive been a long term subscriber since you started off at the dealership. I was pretty stoked when I saw the picture of that jeep you put on facebook lol. Awesome videos!
She's a beaut! Enjoyed every second of this vid, Kyle. Nice work,
9:30 - "Pretty kitty... NO DON'T GO IN THERE."
Who knew that a 2000 jeep does a gage sweep
they don't
They only sweep when the wrong voltage is sent or not enough voltage is sent. They have a sort of neutral where they remain in, and when the gate opens, they end up sweeping because the voltage is lost.... Or something of the sort
Justin W. Damn u smart
They do it sometimes
I've been looking forward to this video, and it was defiantly nice seeing you shooting using your old format. It would be cool if you made some videos like this every so often. Good luck with the jeep if you guys decide to fix it, maybe it will find an owner who will actually take care of it.
The chimes of the Buick and the Jeep almost sounds the same. Cool
I don't know why I found it so comical when I saw this Jeep pop up AGAIN. Nice to see your channel coming full-circle man, haha.
The cat was the best part. :-)
I Agree
I like how he spent a good minute or two just with the cat.
The cat is so cute!
Yeah could be my cat's twin.
Gotta love "old skool"... These vids are the best
You and the kitty made my day:)
Kyle, that has to be the funniest video I've seen recently. Especially the horn and the possessed gauges. And the kitty.
This is why my parents hate American cars... but I LOVE THEM!
This Jeep is indeed the reason I subscribed years ago.
I subscribed for these kind of vids.
LOL at the dying horn at 5:04 and the crazy gauges at 5:21!
Saabkyle04; He films Lamborghini Aventadors, Jeeps that don't run and random cats.
Good job man!
I think it is really nice that you did an old school video, oh and i like the cat:)
NICE ACCELERATION !!! 120mph - 0 in 1sec ! ! ! Inkredible !
@saabkyle04 actually you should do this every now and again! It's kinda cool to see how you evolved over time. Great work then, and now ;)
That horn is sad LOL
Josh Mckinnley sad and depressed and possibly suicidal :(
Mr Strong John lol
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
And broken
It want's to go!
Damn that Road Master has MAXED OUT GAS!!!
Any chance of doing some reviews on some classic muscle cars? 69' Camaro would be a great one!!! But love the videos, always enjoy watching!

Head to firewall ground issue more than likely. Causes issues with the battery. You have power issues for sure.

wow kyle this brought back memories of old videos when you said,, ugh batteries dead, and lets get the jumper box lol
the horn symphony. i was HOLLERING!
The neutral safety switch will keep it from even cranking over. Sounds like its cranking normally, You either arent getting fuel, or spark. Most likely a bad pump or distributor
as the owner of the same car, having had this same issue, i understand your frustration my guy🤣
You can try and get a new Jeep or a different kind of suv/truck
I remember when I first saw your channel this vid. LOL Great vid as always Kyle!
Its two-wheel drive, which if you didn't know was an American option only, all off the ones sold here in Canada were 4x4 or AWD.
i guess u just have to leave it there for the moment since the transmission and mechanical stuff got wrong again. but the cat is really cute! :)
im a big fan of yours kyle, keep it up
I love that roadmaster. such beautiful cars
5:04 The sound of the horn is awesome
fartmaster03 Ethan Kauffman Ikr
Lol it's sounds horrible
I found this chanel by this video 2 years later im still here
i love the way you say 'random cat' as if it's a feature on a car!
"the gauges are possessed" LOL!
Every video of this famous blown engine jeep are my favorites since i start follow kyle
Wow, I remember when you first made the videos about that Cherokee!
That Jeep keeps coming back like a bad smell huh ? Ha ha!

Random Cat = Ratings!
Nice to see the old Jeep back.
i love your licence plate.
Did I just notice an inline engine on this Jeep? Last time I saw a jeep with one was a model from the early mid 1990s.
Turns out it wasn't blown. It was just the neutral safety switch preventing it from starting. The original engine in this Jeep however was blown due to neglect by it's owners not changing the oil. the way those guages kept dancing around made me lol
The first video I ever watched after subbing to this awesome guy was a video about this Jeep. That was two years ago.
Ok ? This Car Doesn't Wanna Start . But iSaw The Most Recent One You Put Where iT Works Perfectly :D
that cat was a boss!
on the next episode if the jeep will start again? find out next time
i lost it when he saw what the gauges were doing.🤣🤣
I love these things, terrible luck for that one
I'm one of the newer ones that found this over the summer, and It's worth saying I'm actually going back and watching the videos in order from the beginning, as well as watching the new ones... wow this jeep's changed. as of this time, I'm on the 08 BMW M3 that was posted on August 2nd, 2009
I think a demon has possessed that poor Jeep.
Chan Lach if a demon has possessed it then it would start driving by itself.LOL!
Chan Lach the demon possed the gaiges
The word is gauges
Some 1 Azn or a black man
The Dodge Demon did it
Nice video as always!
the horn made me laugh I couldn't stop
How can I see the vehicles your dad has for sale now via website
Are you going to go back to these old style videos? I so long requests for these dealership starts, junkyard starts
Bought my 04 for $10 unloved and broken. Brought her back to life and got 3 years out of her with 249k and still going when I junked her
No gas?
This is electrical. No gas would be the crank no start.

Now that’s a real Jeep, classic and real fast
the 1999-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee was assembled in
Detroit, Michigan, United States
Graz, Austria
Beijing, China
Córdoba, Argentina (until 2001)
Valencia, Venezuela
yay i love these types of videos
The jeep is sentient
@PaperWeight231 Odds are it wasn't a "new" engine that they put in--- Most likely it was a used engine from a salvage yard--- which means it was probably a bad engine or high mileage
Hey, maybe the gauges did the thing in most new Jeeps! Where it bounces from high to low then it goes to the current status.
@rompn4x the 03-04 still had a fair share of issues just less mechanical issues then the 99-02's
Song at 3:10? I remember it being a hit pop song in 2011.
+mateusz urbaniak called
Thank you!
Anyone who shows kindness to a humble stray animal is ok in my books. Shame about that Jeep.

As for the gauges, it still has that twitching problem!? Wow...
Damn! I remember this thing... Can't believe it first came around that long ago. I was there, too.
It sounds like POSSIBLY it has low compression, it does sound like its cranking a little fast but don't take my word for it.
@1964mm From your car and this car you conclude Chrysler was going through tough times? Its a jeep it will always comeback stronger and harder. If it was another vehicle then it would've been dead!
Ive been waiting for this w00t w00t!
Holy crap...I've been watching you for 3 years! WOW!
LMFAO at the kitty footage ahhh takes me back to the good ole kyle days were it was hate free
i remember when u first posted this video...
i had a feeling it wouldnt be the last :p
Correct me if im wrong, but if it were a neutral safety switch wouldnt have not cranked at all?
Hey Kyle! From personal experience, I have found out that if you let the door chime finish after turning the key to the "on" position, you will have better luck of the car actually starting.
The cause of the crank no start is due to the bad neutral safety switch that those Jeep's came equipped with .
@saabkyle04 as a mechanic i refuse to believe this. the first thing i would check is that there is fuel in the tank, then check fuel pump, and ignitoin system.
This is old school now!!
