  • UPDATED VERSION WITH CORRECT SCHEMATIC !
It's a frequent and nice sounding trick to cut Low frequencies from a source before sending it to a Reverb. Low frequency range of the HighPass is about 1,6 kHz to infinity with this pot/cap couple. This choice is very personal and unconventional, but it's quite good for this particular Pre Reverb filtering purpose to my ears. A more regular choice would be 50k pot with 4,7 NF to reach about 700 Hz to infinity, but the result was not as good in my opinion.
Feel free to experiment other values, but keep in mind it is a passive design, so quite unperfect as a filter, with big level drop when filtering. But for this kind of purpose (cutting low frequencies and extracting the middle and high frequencies of a source to send to a reverb) it's quite usefull and does the job.
The Formula to calculate the Frequency cut-off of a Resitor/Cap couple in a HP filter like this one is : ƒc = 1/(2πRC).

Only if the signal is pre amplified. No need for a 3PDT

I think the schematic is still wrong. Both wires go to the middle pin, and one end was cut off, so nothing goes there. This makes it variable resistor instead of voktage divider. Love your videos, keep up the good work!

      (Middle pin is the arrow)

Hmm... just connect both positives lines to the middle pot pin and GND to the lower pot pin (leave upper pot pin open) - I think you don't need a voltage divider here!

I think you are correct ;) that will work too, the voltage divider is not needed

im curious what gauge wire is best for such projects, for a beginner if it matters (close enough to a beginner, lol). also what grade sandpaper? i realize either may have a few options within a close range.

I think i used 30 AWG. 28AWG would be good too. you don't need anything thicker for that IMO
