Solid rig Damien! Love the audio setup in particular, something that is always causing me issues on the OG so tend to run a completely different audio system wherever possible into something like the zoom h6/8. Don't think I can justify the jump from OG just yet, but think I may have to in future! Would be interested to see anything you've shot recently using this?

Glad that I am not the only one who disliked the Red outrigger handle. I was so excited to get it for my Komodo but hated it. Since I shoot from the waist most of the time, I just mounted a pair of top handles on each side of the Komodo. Works great.
Right? I wasn’t able to fully get my thumb between the handle and the cage.

So I bought the RED ribs for my new Komodo-X, but I want Bright Tangerine for everything else. You know if that BT cheese plate that slides on the side will still attach to those ribs ?
Great video. Does dji transmission and monitor system have both sdi-ins and sdi-outs. Or is it an hdmi-based solution. Do you attaching it to the red komodo-X as you do could dammage the anternna over a longer period of use?

Nice! I picked up the KX about a week ago and am getting pretty geeky with rig stuff right now too. That portkeys monitor looks interesting. Correct me if I'm wrong, but your battery solution doesn't have communication with the camera and therefore doesn't charge back up when plugged into mains? Allegedly "approved" batteries do that like the BP's did on OG Komodo, which is a nice feature, not going to lie. Thanks for the video!
Oh really? Haven't heard that before. Haven't tried but it also doesn't show % on the Komodo, just V. So I don't think that works. But since I can charge those batteries with a laptop charger that's good enough for me
Did you use the canon speed booster, any damage to the sensor cover mask?
How does the portkeys monitor work for you in sun light? Did they update the glass reflection? It has been the main reason why I returned the pervious 7inch version as I didnt see anything at all even with 1200nits.

Actually not. The battery of my scale died during the filming of the video.
But it will also drastically change depending on the lenses used.

Have you tried connecting your phone via the USB-C cable to control the camera and get monitoring via iphone? I'm traveling and short on space so it would be nice to use my iphone when in such a situation vs my 7" small HD. I can't get the live feed to show via Red Control.

lovely video mate! is there a way to use the mic wth outrigger handle because this is my current setup and i thought maybe put it on the other side but the adaoter has to go same side as xlr port assuming so is there. way to make it work?
Yeah. With the bright tangerine side plate there’s enough room for everything

great explanation with the matte box, what if you wanted to use a vnd and have a polarizer at the same time? to reduce reflections on car windows? Thanks
Doesn’t work. Not because of my setup but in general. VND is a polarizer in itself. So they would cancel each other out.

Nice Rig! I was wondering if with the Nisi matte box you get any vignette with the Tokina 11-20mm. With my tilta Mirage you get crazy vignette at wider focal lengths and it drives me crazy especially if you are stacking filters with the add on.
that's why I chose the C5. It doesn't vignette.. maybe a really really tiny bit at 11mm with two filters inside

I like the Nisi matte box but wonder if it's also the one you'd recommend for the C300-3? Given that it has internal NDs I only need it to handle pro mist and would prefer not adding rails, which I saw you also seem to prefer.
Depends. I mostly add rails for bigger shoots actually. And it depends on your needs. If all you really need is mist you can go with any mattebox tbh. But I still really like the NISI filters. But you could also go tilta mirage 🤷🏼♂️

I had the same handle and after a few months it’s starting to come loose even when locked down.

Yes. It works very well as you have more control over your camera

That’s not a fixable thing. Arris have that too
It’s not a camera specific problem it’s the connection. Any camera can suffer from this issue if there is a surge to the SDI port from improperly power on/off while sdi is connected.
Why did you choose the portkeys vs the DSMC3 Red 7” monitor to do away with those 2 pesky cables?

🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 incredibly kind of you and yeah I’ll be back to final form soon:) GDU is awesome but they lack a LOT of functionality especially compared to something as the BT options
It will work if you either A) attach directly to the camera brain without the BT nato side plate, or B) use GD side piece that they sell
i hate the antenna relocation. i feel like this could cause clearance issues running it on a gimbal
It does actually. But the camera is horrible to balance anyway 😅
@@damiencooper that's exactly what i was worried about. i use the generic sony batteries on my komodo, balances real quick and easy. if you had seen my face when i saw the back of the x... it was like... just burn my dreams up in SMOKE huh
@@SHVWNCOOPER really depends on the lenses though. Anything 1KG and above will be a pain. Especially since you need filters. But anything smaller is still fine

Muss man bei der red einplanen. Body 10k, rigging nochmal 10k. Den Fehler machen leider viele

der Nisi VND passt nicht in die Mirage. Und der Tilta VND ist nicht so geil. Und die Mirage vignetted etwas wenn man sehr weit unterwegs ist
