  • I had viewer question come asking why I chose Parasound for my amplifiers in Home Theater 2.0 versus Anthem or other options. The asker also mentioned using Perlisten speakers. In this video, I talk about how and why I chose the Parasound Halo A31 and dual A52+ for my space.

My sound system consists of 6 SVS Ultra Bookshelf speakers (2 for the mains, 2 for the side channels, and 2 for the rears), an SVS Ultra Center speaker, 4 SVS Prime Elevation speakers ceiling mounted for Dolby Atmos and 2 SVS SB-3000 Subwoofers. The system is powered by a Parasound Halo A52+ 5 channel amplifier and a Yamaha Aventage RX-A8A 11 channel AVR with dual AC Infinity AIRCOM T9's keeping them cool, and all are connected to a Panamax M5400-PM Power Conditioner.

I run the Parasound A-52+ and A-23+ with a Klipsch 7.4 System. The high sensitivity of the RF-7iii’s with the class a wattage is quite simply magical.

Just gone from an Anthem Statement A2, to a Parasound Halo A21+ and it really is in another league with my B&W 800n speakers. There is now a warmth to the sound, that is detailed, but no longer fatiguing. Really impressed with Parasound.

I own the parasound A- 21 for 9yrs trouble free. Then I bought the A - 21+ The A - 21+ seems slightly more detailed imo! I am using the Parasound JC- 2 preamp with both amps for testing along the the sonus faber 3.0 towers. The A - 21+ has more detail with some improvements in the bass too. I have the old JC - 1 mono blocks as well. Better here in the sound stage.

I have used a Parasound HCA series for decades and had one cap issue which they took care of early. Have not had any issues since then and I used mine with mixed speakers for spinning music, and I play all types of records/CDs. They just get better and smooth out after 3-4 hours, and then they turn up to another level. I want to get a few more HCAs and a few Halos.

I moved away from HT (5.1) sound about 3 years ago. I just grew tired of it and I do far more 2 channel than multi-channel. I also decided I wanted to go separates for the first time. I went with Parasound as well based on research. I never had the opportunity to hear their gear before purchase, but I did see under the hood of several pieces and somehow got to know the owner of Parasound. I was trying to find something that would match my Sansui 8080db from the 70s. The minute I saw under the hood of the Halo line amps, I recognized the architecture. I picked up the A23+ with the P6 preamp. A couple of months later I picked up the JC3 Jr. I listen to vinyl records as well as CD. I paired the amp with my Paradigm Studio 100s v5. (I wish Paradigm had not discontinued that line, huge mistake. Their new designs don't even come close to being good). I later found out that those speakers were the ones used to voice the Halo line up!
Many speakers can be paired well to the Parasound Halo line, but the house sound leans ever so slightly to the warm side of neutral, so while the Paradigm Studios are the most neutral speakers ever made to my knowledge and slightly brighter speakers would pair up excellently with the Parasound line, I would test speakers that tilt downward or are less bright. Also, such speakers can be fixed up with tone controls as well if such speakers are what you have on hand. Don't fear tone controls!
I was running a Musical Surroundings Phonomena 2 as my phono pre and while it is an excellent phono pre, the JC3 Jr, to my surprise, has more spaciousness and is even darker in the blacks, scary dark, making it outperform the Phonomena.
Looking at today's prices, I'm glad I got my Parasound stuff 3 years ago!

I have Bowers & Wilkins latest line of 700 Series Speakers.
They are said to lean a bit forward but never harsh..the Parasound Halo's I'm learning lean a bit to the warm sound.

I think the amo & my newish B&W speakers would make quite a compelling match.

I bought a pair of vintage pair of sonus faber cremona towers of ebay in mint condition and they are comparable with paradigm and bowers & wilkins. The ratings these speakers were excellent and highly recommended by stereophile in 2003 with excellent test ratings. They retailed for $ 7500.00 in 2003. Beautiful cabinets I must say like was listed in the maple wood. Sadly, they are overrated. Bright sounding for sure. All my parasound gear will not take the harsh edge off with vinyl or digital. The sonus faber 3.0 which were made in China vs the Cremona made in Italy. Maybe a tube amp will warm the cremona towers. I just don't like a bright speakers.

Love this video and good info. I have AVM 70, running 7.2.2 Atmos set up with main LCR Arendal Speakers. I am using Parasound A52+ 5 channel amp to run main 5 speakers and strongly recommend it. I used Emotiva before, sold it, sounded good for the price but it was def more on the "brighter" side and you can tell the limit when running at high volume. Parasound is amazing, warm to neutral, can drive any speakers and you can pretty much keep this amp forever, also has good resale value.

We’ve talked about Amps for my SVS Ultra speaker line and the main reason I went Emotiva is that the President of SVS mainly uses Emotiva at his Demo sessions. I’m sure he’s trying to showcase his speakers in the best affordable light and if it’s good enough for him then who am I? The Gen. 1s are very affordable with gobs of Power! Probably 3yrs or more from now I’ll step my front stage up to a Parasound Amp but at present I’m satisfied! If SVS comes out with a higher end tower speaker I’ll also upgrade with them! SVS is a good Bang-for-your-Buck speaker line. Love your Videos!! 👴🏽

Nice, fellow Michigander! I did end up buying an STR, but it's for a different setup. I have two A/V zones - one the dedicated home theater and one my 2.2 living room setup. @@Techthusiasm Nice! I have a MRX 740 and Hegel H390 (for 2 channel and also to drive my L/R speakers via HT bypass)...I'm considering a multichannel amp to get more consistent amplification across my LCR speakers. That would put me into a position where I would want to reduce boxes and simplify my system...meaning taking the Hegel out of the mix. The challenge is getting a multichannel amp that can effectively replace how good the Hegel is, from a 2 channel perspective. I'm not sure the Anthem MCA amps can get there (maybe they can). The Parasound A51 has me intrigued. I guess I'm going to have get one in my setup for a listen, to find out if it can go toe to toe with my H390.
