"The first tip is to strategically arrange your houses" Me who got ACNH and the ACNH Switch for Christmas and threw everything together: Mission failed, we'll get 'em next time.
My first thought at the beginning of the video was "how did you get wreaths on the villagers doors??" because I've tried placing them in my game but of course you can only place a wreath on your own door. I'm going to be gifting door decorations to all my neighbors this week!! Thanks for the tips. 😊
He's the guy in the blue denim cap making your islands look better. How far this man has come. Now, he's the guy in the orange hard hat making your islands look better. Past Pat would be proud of present Pat. Especially because of dirt under flowers.
when it comes to flower beds that are more than one row, i like to alternate between rows with the light and dark dirt paths, i feel like it makes it look nice :)
I never knew about the wreaths! I usually give them flowers or bugs or clothing (which they love to wear haha), sometimes furniture. Tip: listen to your villagers, they usually tell you their favorite color at some point and are super happy when you give them clothing in their favorite color! (Or give some sporty clothes to your jock types for example. They love it!) :)
I really dig your spacing of villagers. Part of me wants to attempt to try having a more staggered village look like I’ve done in the past with WW and NL, the other part of my likes my tight-knit city district with a large neighborhood strip above the shopping strip...
Another great video! I’m still decorating my island but I may leave part of it undecorated and have it be a designated hiking trail or something to keep the natural element of the island, not sure though.
When I finally got my construction app I instantly started putting dirt down and planting flowers. My wife who had almost 100 hours more than me instantly realized she goofed by not doing that with hers lol.
Wow, I can only imagine how much work this took! I’m currently redesigning my own island, I saw my fiancé’s whose looked more interesting and better designed which inspired me to be more creative with mine. I absolutely love the Zen/Japanese garden, and I’m trying to create my own. I’m also planting some orchards but I like your design for it, and gives me ideas of how to space mine better and utilize dirt and sand!
I have only been playing a week and do not have terraforming or that ability to use dirt paths, but I love watching your design videos. I never thought to use customazation the way you have or the fencing. You have given me some great ideas. I wish I could visit your island as it is so pretty. I need to find rose seeds. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you! I really am struggling with home placement, mine are all scattered, which I like because they have large yards, but that doesn't leave me with much island to work with. I'm finally at 4 stars so I hate to deconstruct everything and reorganize it all. I love flowers and am on the hunt for roses and mums. Thank you for the dirt landscaping idea. :)
After watching your video about paths and flower beds and such, I spent an entire day making paths, making flower beds and was rewarded with my 4th star!!! So helpful!!! I am trying not to over-design my island. I really want it to look like a sleepy, island village. But I may get a bit carried away.
i love the really simple vibe of your island. people have been taking island decorating so far that its making other people feel terrible about theirs, even though those people spend more time decorating than enjoying the other parts of the game. if you have a really simple island, be proud of it, and youll be able to enjoy the game more
Your island looks so neat & not overwhelming - I’ve watched a lot of other videos that have actually put me off wanting to transform my island because they’ve time travelled & done SO much! , whereas your video has inspired me so thank you ☺️
I made a welcome hanging thing for a villagers door but i tried to put them on myself lol. Thanks for the wreath idea. I have to give it to them loooool.
I LOVE the use of the log stakes between the trees in your camping area! I’ve been wanting to use trees a lot for my camping area but it always felt so crowded. Definitely stealing that move! Great video!
“Strategically place houses at the beginning of the game.” At the beginning of the game I was too scared of loosing my fruit trees to the new plots of land and so my island is a sporadic mess and I’m scared to terraform.
In my opinion, Nintendo needs to have a major update to the terraforming process. My ideal setup would be an overhead map instead of simply designing tile by tile. That way you could view all the houses, buildings, paths, and bodies of water at the exact same time. Having the option to efficiently switch between cliffs, paths variations , and water instead of working tile by tile with the aid of a full screen map as opposed to constructing cliffs and bodies of water one section at a time, would probably make terraforming much less tedious, and a lot more intriguing. Moreover, I want to see how the bridges look placed on the map instead of in the game before I put them down as well as buildings. Sure, you see them on the mini map, but to view them on the full screen map would be tremendously helpful for people who struggle with executive disfunction/ADHD/Anxiety and the pressure to conform to the animal crossing community’s standards. I need visible cues. As of now, the game is not relaxing, it’s a nightmarish hellscape that always stresses me out and overwhelms to no extent. Likewise, I find myself make frequent revisits to ACNL because it feels like New Horizons is all about design and competition, which is not what the developers intended for the game in the first place. It is the fault of the fandom for turning such a relaxing game into a competitive race to transform your island, house, etc. into total perfection. As a result, I often go weeks dreading the attempt to terraform my island for the 1,000 time. It would also be nice to have a tutorial for new players when it comes to design and in game tips. I for one would like to have a separate manual you could purchase in the game for a small amount of bells, that lists the limitations of terraforming and what you are allowed and not allowed to do. For a few finishing thoughts, my island as of now is hot and hideous trash. After a long time of evaluating my decisions on the matter, whether it be moving all my houses/buildings to the beach and building my island back up with the help of a base map to redesign, or simply giving all my items to my sister to hold onto, restarting my island, and working from the ground up after retrieving my precious items to make my dream island a reality, I have chosen the latter option. I’m torn about this especially considering there are a few of my desired dreamies currently living on my messy excuse for an island. Needless to say, I hope this run will go a lot more smoothly than the last one, and I might even look into some AC forums for some help or advice. I think my overall mistake is not turning to the internet that offers great services such as Nookazon for one to get rare hybrid flowers and furniture. Also maybe some more friends to hang out with would be nice, I'm so lonely as it is, it about time to get over my social anxiety and meet some people I can just be myself with. TL;DR: ACNH needs an overhead map for terraforming and design instead of working with one tile at a time resulting in a tedious process. At the begging of the game there need to be a tutorial to help new players. Finally I am very disappointed in the appearance of my island and am about to restart in a matter of time. It would nice to get some help when recreating my new island, so any great island life-changing and inspiring advice is appreciated! Also I want this run to be different so I might socialize more instead of being cooped up in the island by myself. ^-^
Your town is just amazing! It's gonna cost me a lot of bells to move my houses, but it will be so worth it! Have only just got the island design map, so I will for sure watch your tips before doing anything! Thanks for replying, so many don't and whilst I appreciate that you all can be inundated with comments, it's so nice to get a response. Thanks again for your videos, they really are so helpful. 👍❤️
I know you were bashing your old videos recently but this was in my recommended today so I gave it a rewatch. It might not be anywhere close to what we’re all doing now, but you know what? It’s pretty solid. I’m gonna send it to my friend who just started playing ACNH with her 6 year old.
I really enjoy these videos. Other people's islands and tips seem so unattainable. You explain and show it in a way where I think "oh, I could do that". Still a long way to go. The hardest part seems to be when you unlock terraforming and realize you now have to move a handful of buildings.
I've broken up my island layout. The main island where I have the plaza, shops and some houses is more like a traditional town. And then i have one section on my island across the river that is more rural no houses, campsite, flowers and trees. Another section is more like a rural neighborhood with a farm house and the last section is more tropical with bamboo and flowers
@@somerandomnerd5736 ya I have 5 starts now so I'm working more on little projects. I used one of my cliffs near the beach to create a outdoor beach theme cafe and park. I also have a small tea garden, a graveyard, and I'm creating a space area so far with a rocket and antennae
If you’re new to the game and didn’t place your houses evenly you could build fences for them and place them evenly so it looks like your row of house are lined up straight. That’s what I did.
I have my town arranged in a "grid" of sorts with 3 columns, two of which have 3 houses, and the middle column having 4 houses. The player houses are all separate from the town. The best part about this setup is that it makes it REALLY easy to check to see if your villagers are making valuable DIYs, all I need to do is make a couple passes up and down the 'roads'. If I had the space initially, I would have put all the houses in a huge row, 2 columns with 5 houses each. Then you could check all houses for possible DIYs in just a single pass.
These are GREAT tips. I am a beginner to Animal Crossing and made it through my first play realizing my island is a mess. Restarting using these extremely helpful tips. Thanks so much!!! Also, your island is amazing!
my husband got me animal crossing last month and we have been working on making the island like a rustic/farm/cottage vibe. thanks for all the tips! (:
I didn’t time travel until I figured out my layout for my neighbors. And then I spent so much money and so much time time traveling because I wasn’t waiting a week to move stuff around.
So you're ahead of real time now? Or you went back after you did all this? I'm just reluctant to TT myself as I want to have the game date reflect my irl date.
Jade Tippens I time travelled ahead and then went back to my current date. I never stay time travelled to the future for long. Be sure to not buy anything that’ll be shipped the next day as you’ll waste your bells because it won’t show up. Time traveling back doesn’t count as +1 days.
Keep your town in mind while plotting your houses is the best advice for this game for sure. Especially if you end up getting into it and want your island to be perfect!! Like me. Rip. Lol.
I have been re watching your videos just so that I can get tips on how to design my island. I have done some of your tips on my island and it already looks better. Thank you!
Thanks for posting this! I'm struggling to get my island from a 2* to a 3*. Maybe some of these tips can work, even if I can't lay down paths and what not yet? I'll setup a hybrid area like you did and see if that helps me with getting cooler colored flowers. I have 10 villagers and got the nook cranny upgrade as well as the shop from the mable sisters but still can't crack past the 2* rating. Driving me nuts!
David Puffer make sure you have outdoor furniture out, I was in the same situation but once I started putting loads of stuff outside it went to 3 stars :)

You're island is quite lovely. It feels much more simple and homey in design. I keep seeing all of these islands that are all jammed to the brim with different items, and while I still think they're okay, I just can't stand having a bunch of stuff piled together lol
As a new player in Animal Crossing, I poorly planned my housing, not knowing how many villagers I would have. Oh well, I'm moving them even with the added cost, it's worth it. I loooove your campsite (whole island is gorgeous too!). Thanks for the tips!
Started a few days ago. My houses are all over the place lol. Wish I would have discovered your channel sooner D: Guess more Tarantula farm runs and Turnips for money lol
Another way would be to gather and assess fossils, then sell them all for thousands of bells in total! Once I ever sold like 5 assessed fossils to Nook’s Cranny and it boosted my Bells straight to hundred-thousands!
Great tips 👏. Your Island is beautiful, so creative , personalized & fun 👏. My Daughter gave me Animal Crossing for Mother’s Day and I was so excited about it but when I play I’m so stressed out about my mortgage, getting a bigger house so I can set it up with more storage, filling the Museum and keeping the neighbors happy. We used to play it years ago on the older system and it was always fun. I am fishing, bug catching & shelling myself to death just to pay my mortgage 😞 it’s so much like real life to me, I talk to the neighbors give them presents, send them cards, catch their fish & bugs but some are still rude & snooty. Me who got ACNH and the ACNH Switch for Christmas and threw everything together: Mission failed, we'll get 'em next time.
My first thought at the beginning of the video was "how did you get wreaths on the villagers doors??" because I've tried placing them in my game but of course you can only place a wreath on your own door. I'm going to be gifting door decorations to all my neighbors this week!! Thanks for the tips. 😊
I discovered it by accident bc i went to give someone a gift and all i had was a wreath lmao
He's the guy in the blue denim cap making your islands look better.
How far this man has come.
Now, he's the guy in the orange hard hat making your islands look better.
Past Pat would be proud of present Pat.
Especially because of dirt under flowers.
When will they let us customize fences!!?!?!?!
I saw videos with white fences and I was wondering that too
Montgomery Fortenberry I thought there was a custom fence design ?
Ugh apparently when pigs fly and dodos speak 😩
All I want is to be able to make the blue fencing white or pink 😭
when it comes to flower beds that are more than one row, i like to alternate between rows with the light and dark dirt paths, i feel like it makes it look nice :)
Ohh, that's a great idea!
You’re incredibly talented!!! Not just at designing and building but also at presenting to people. It’s a rare mix. Keep it up!
Thank you I appreciate it!!
6:38 take a shot every time he says dirt lmaoo
strngerscoops !! You’d be drunk LOL
NintenTalk maybe i’d get alcohol poisoning lol.
Every time I see how cool other ppls islands are I just wanna start mine all over. 😭😭
Its a continuous work in progress. Im not as artistic as some but really enjoy when i come up with something new. Good luck! Enjoy
Plus technically we can demolish and do new plans over and over and over
Same😭😭

I’ve been spending days now reorganizing my home placements for my villagers 😅 lessons were learned .....
Yes! I noticed you can’t put on the door plates on villagers houses yourself. But you have to give them as gifts 😊 good tips! Thank you!
I really dig your spacing of villagers. Part of me wants to attempt to try having a more staggered village look like I’ve done in the past with WW and NL, the other part of my likes my tight-knit city district with a large neighborhood strip above the shopping strip...
Are we even playing the same game!? 😂😩
Lol feel you
Another great video! I’m still decorating my island but I may leave part of it undecorated and have it be a designated hiking trail or something to keep the natural element of the island, not sure though.
That’s a great idea.. not ALL of your island needs decorating. Embrace nature 👍🏻
NintenTalk 👍
When I finally got my construction app I instantly started putting dirt down and planting flowers. My wife who had almost 100 hours more than me instantly realized she goofed by not doing that with hers lol.
Also a max of only 8 inclines.... why? Let us use at least a max of 15
William E Yeah same with bridges. There would be so much more room for designing if they did that.
Im suprised theres even a max for that tbh
Sîan,, nintendo do be preventing trolls. *bahahaha*
Savage Raichu yep
Haha!! Glad I could help, it’s very addicting once you get started
Dude you are killing it lately!
A-Typical Gamer Thank you brotha!
i love the really simple vibe of your island. people have been taking island decorating so far that its making other people feel terrible about theirs, even though those people spend more time decorating than enjoying the other parts of the game. if you have a really simple island, be proud of it, and youll be able to enjoy the game more
I want Stitches so bad :( also that wreath tip blew my mind
Haha I felt the same way. Also stitches is my fav
I recently got him. He so cute
i have his amiibo but i can’t seem to get him to move in
evelyn It takes 3 days with an amiibo
I had him on my island I visited. I had to many lazy villagers so I passed him lol
I’ve just started playing this, wish I knew about the house placement before.
Crazy how much we have grown in the past two years. Such a nostalgic video, I love it!!! Thanks for the content!
“Strategically place houses at the beginning of the game.” At the beginning of the game I was too scared of loosing my fruit trees to the new plots of land and so my island is a sporadic mess and I’m scared to terraform.
If you eat a piece of fruit, you can dig up your trees with a shovel :)
Beverly Hitchon aww I really appreciate that! Working on another video that will be up on the channel. 5 more great tips ❤️
I know you were bashing your old videos recently but this was in my recommended today so I gave it a rewatch. It might not be anywhere close to what we’re all doing now, but you know what? It’s pretty solid. I’m gonna send it to my friend who just started playing ACNH with her 6 year old.
Just want you to know, I saw your Home Improvement reference and I appreciated it
I really enjoy these videos.
@@somerandomnerd5736 I've been contemplating getting online access because I really wanna show off my island lol
@@somerandomnerd5736 I also made an orchard area. I like to use up my empty space but not too much. I like a little bit of empty space.
I havent watched the videos. I did pretty much everything my own way and got a few small ideas from youtubers
@@somerandomnerd5736 do you have online access? I dont but thinking about getting it so I can have visitors
If you’re new to the game and didn’t place your houses evenly you could build fences for them and place them evenly so it looks like your row of house are lined up straight. That’s what I did.
I want Hugh so bad. He was my best buddy in Wild World when I was a kid and he's still in my town after all these years!
Amazing! Would love a part 3 for sure! Thank you :)
SniperPrincess Oh you know it!
These are GREAT tips. I am a beginner to Animal Crossing and made it through my first play realizing my island is a mess. Restarting using these extremely helpful tips. Thanks so much!!! Also, your island is amazing!
I don’t even have a switch and I’m addicted to watching your videos
my husband got me animal crossing last month and we have been working on making the island like a rustic/farm/cottage vibe. thanks for all the tips!
To me, this is the BEST tips on decorating video that I have EVER seen. And I have seen many. Congratulations!!! :D
Keep your town in mind while plotting your houses is the best advice for this game for sure. Especially if you end up getting into it and want your island to be perfect!! Like me. Rip. Lol.
I'm new to acnh and I had no idea where the different colour flowers were coming from lol. Glad I found you thank you.
This guy said dirt 74640 times
Really like your island! Have seen so many 5 star island videos for inspo and yours looks the neatest with having all the aspects of the other 5 star islands!! Thank you for showing us your beautiful island!
I just started out! But i'm trying to build a beautiful town! Thank you for the advice 🌞
This was the beginning of an Empire. Even though you didn’t have a helmet, you where awsome and are awsome! Erik forever🧡
I had no idea what I was doing when I started so I placed houses willy-nilly and now I'm gonna be so broke moving them all xD
Oh well, it'll be worth it in the end
same 😂 i made the mistake of letting my first two villages pick where they lived instead of taking the kits and doing it myself 😭
Jameilia Gardener same 😂 i was too insecure to do it myself lmaoo
Hard same. I kind of assumed they needed their own space so they were all over the place but now I've moved them to a little neighborhood.
I see how gorgeous your island is and how much time and dedication you obviously put into it, and where I feel disappointed about what I've done with mine, I leave this video with more dedication and drive to make my island look the absolute best I can possibly make it. It won't ever be a show island, but it's mine. Thank you!
I am so glad I found your videos.. I just went ahead and subscribed. I hope you keep these videos up. Now I have to check out your island tour!
Mimi Qui That’s awesome to hear! Welcome to the channel
I’ve been watching waaayy too many animal crossing videos I will admit, but this taught me a lot I didn’t know about. Thank you!! Hopefully getting a switch shipped soon
Man I have a looooong way to go, but this is really inspiring!
I love how you set up your island. Your campsite is amazing!
There's door plates now too and I've made / given some to my villagers too! 🥰😁
Me, hundreds of hours into the game with a fully decorated island: yesss, I should watch this.
i LOVE our island! Proud of us! ❤️
Nicole Sullivan ❤️❤️❤️
Comunism...
I really like your island, you make it really cool with basic tools and tips! I've seen a lot of videos about AC and every island is so advanced and I got a little bit frustated because I can't never reach those levels of designing, but your island is super cool and have given me hope hahahaha really like the video. Congrats!
I am just starting out on animal crossing and I’m 37! My kids don’t have a chance to get on it 😂 I really wish you didn’t have to share an island with your household! Ps I LOVE it when my villagers sing! It would be great if we could join in 😀
You're island is quite lovely. It feels much more simple and homey in design. I keep seeing all of these islands that are all jammed to the brim with different items, and while I still think they're okay, I just can't stand having a bunch of stuff piled together lol
I mean this as a compliment ...your voice sounds like Nick from new girl and I LOVE IT
Hahaha! I get that a lot
Wish I would have discovered your channel sooner D:
Guess more Tarantula farm runs and Turnips for money lol
Another way would be to gather and assess fossils, then sell them all for thousands of bells in total! Once I ever sold like 5 assessed fossils to Nook’s Cranny and it boosted my Bells straight to hundred-thousands!
i love the door reefs i gave each villager their own unique reef that fits their personality and house aesthetic!!
Still don't have terraforming... But I can't wait to change my island design
Your phone design is amazing!
I love the wreath idea! Today is my villager’s birthday and I wasn’t sure what to give her!
Yay that’s awesome!
I’ve been playing animal crossing wrong all along.. THANK YOU FOR THIS!!!
I gave you a follow because you don’t seem to be time jumping good stuff man
Great tips 👏. Oh well 😔 Thank you for sharing 👍👍
this video: "it makes it pop"
AH THESE IDEAS ARE TOP NOTCH!
My island is currently in development. I have some grand ideas lol and these tips might have been what I need most (and also in other videos so that's why I subscribed to you)! Thank you soo much for sharing!
