    a filler area i've been quite proud of that i did recently was a little berry patch with red lily bulbs and blue windflower bulbs to look like strawberries and blueberries

      This is such a lovely idea! I’m totally gonna use this. I bet it looks so beautiful. 😻
      I like to use the yellow hyacinths for corn fields especially during halloween. Also I like to use the purple hyacinths to make lavender fields.

    Ive recently gotten the inspiration to get back into animal crossing and finally fully decorate my island. For the first time! The problem is I don’t know where to start & I’m overwhelmed. I don’t know how to plan it out ahead of time ( or if I should).

    • @Just_Alice.
      @Just_Alice. ปีที่แล้ว +223

      What I did was to make a list of areas I wanted on my island, like a restaurant /coffee, rock garden, flower garden, forest, etc... Then decide if I wanted one big neighborhood or multiple small ones or only scattered houses. Same for the shops (shopping center or not?). After that, I used the website Happy Island Designer to figure out my map roughly and place the areas I listed. And finally I picked one area and started building.
      It's important to know that the map created is only a draft, not an exact placement of things and it can be changed when building. Starting with one area at a time helps too. It's better to start on a border of the island, like the airport or on one side so when you finish the island, you arrive at the center and have less dead space or fillers areas to work with.
      Hope that helps 😊

      @@Just_Alice.this helps so much! Thank you! Another thing I struggle with is knowing where to terraform. It’s really hard to visualize this ahead of time. I think it’s going to take some trial and error.

    • @Just_Alice.
      @Just_Alice. ปีที่แล้ว +30

      @@Lexi-M I'm glad that helps 😊 For terraforming, it's a lot of trial and errors, but you can think a little where you want some cliffs or waterfalls for example. Then try and see. Watching some speed build can help sometimes to see how some builds are made. I took many inspo and help watching videos!

    • @lmaoashley
      @lmaoashley ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@Lexi-Mtrial and error is key. Like that other commenter, I also make a list of areas I want. I’m currently making a Halloween island, and I knew I wanted a costume contest area, a pumpkin patch, and a haunted carnival. Figuring out the layout was just a matter of going with the flow, tearing things down, and rebuilding.
      Experiment with different terraforming until you find something that just vibes with you. Remember, you can always tear it down and try something else the next day. 😊

      For both the islands I worked on, I did a quick sketch beforehand so I at least had an idea of where I wanted everything to go, where I wanted all buildings/bridges etc. - especially with the limit on stairs/bridges I find this helpful! Ofc there’s some trial and error bc you cant anticipate where you might have some small gaps but this helped me a bunch (also having a theme or some inspiration for what you wanna do!

    My entire island has developed organically and that’s just a nice way of saying it’s a gigantic filler space. It’s daunting to go about making a cohesive plan. Maybe I’ll just stick to letting it go like the highland moors. 😂

    • @sparksby
      @sparksby  ปีที่แล้ว +8

      A gigantic filler area is totally ok! Honestly that's what creates the vibe of your island, so you're doing amazingly! ❤

    I had no idea that chopping down trees at different stages left the stumps at their corresponding sizes! Definitely going to take advantage of that when I’m decorating later today :) Awesome video, thank you!
    Edit: One of the other things I learned is that I need wayyy more items in my catalog and more diy recipes

    The most recent placed creature that ive discovered that i really love is the giant isopod, i placed them on a wooden partition in my house so it can peak over the top of the container at me. I am also a huge fan of when people place the snapping turtles alongside things like pet food bowls like they’re just a funny looking dog

    Its so interesting to see your design process bc it is polar opposite to mine...i dont plan things out bc i cant picture them unless theyre actually there (thanks adhd brain) so i just kinda mindlessly decorate and then adjust what i think needs adjusting haha

    I recently took down almost everything on my island to start over. Going back to it after 9 months, when I saw it I felt trapped in little spaces because I had filled it up with way too much stuff, filling all the spaces. I now prefer to leave OPEN SPACE so that there's room to breathe and look around. Ahhhh! Sweet.

I've been playing less than a year and I'm finally at the point where I feel like I have access to enough items and things to start really building out my island, but everytime I try I feel like I get overwhelmed, end up doing random things just to do something and hating my results 90% of the time. My island is a mess but honestly, I had no idea about planning and just jumped in so I’m figuring it out as I go and cleaning up mistakes along the way. This is a weird question but when you did the Encanto village what what kind of Geo fragments the little nose things to things that make noise? What did you use in that video in your house because I love it how you did the house

    Hello - way late questions but where do you place 150 weeds so the ones after that will stay stunted? I collected that many in my bags and was trying to figure out how to incorporate the 150 initially because it's the stunted ones I really want in many specific places. I thought about taking the first tile along the back of the island and just line them up - should take up about 80 of them. Only problem is deconstructing what 's there..any other suggestions would be appreciated!!

    Be cautious of dropped items. It counts as clutter. I dropped to a 4 star island and couldn’t figure out why. Too many dropped items.

    Hi! I’m new to your channel I was hoping I could get some tips of how to keep trees and bamboo and their small growth stage and not grow at all

    • @sparksby
      @sparksby  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! 😊 I explain and show it in the video actually: you have to plant a fruit sapling (anything but coconuts) in one of the surrounding tiles of your tree (at the stage you want it at)! ☺

      Once the tree is the size you want, you can plant a fruit directly behind it and the tree won’t be able to grow anymore. Hope this helps! ^-^

    I really like people like you that do their islands like this, it looks very whismical. I wish I wasnt so OCD with my island, it’s cute but VERY structured and it bothers me when there is one weed or branch on the ground 😂

    honestly, i cannot recommend the craftable fountain item + imperial partitions, i may be doing a jttw inspired island, but they are both super pretty
