DJI Osmo Pocket 3 has been the best camcorder that's been released for the decade. Basically a bigger sensor on a small device. Definitely will get this in the future. Don't think we'll see a Pocket 4 anytime soon so this is definitely a plus.
Thanks for the shoutout @JasonVong! Loved your take on the video concept, and especially the bit on laptopless file transfer 💪
The man himself!!! Enjoying your travel content! Keep it up!
starbucks will be wondering what this guy is doing
One croissant to many.
I would be interested if Jason can show how to get a pic file from a camera via wi-fi built in to your smartphone in order to send the pic to friend and family via text while on vacation…also how to resize file on phone before sending if needed to.
I wish I'd known this for my japan trip back in March. I had to take my laptop to offload every other day. But I'm definitely saving this for future use! This is so helpful
Perfect timing! I had thoughts on this topic a few days ago :D
Great travel advice! Can feel the love!
I’d mention/recommend the ACASIS hub that can take an SSD and has an SD card reader built in.
Haha, this video is right on time. Thank you! I’m planning on traveling soon and was dreading having to carry my laptop (and a huge bag for it and its accessories). But some of these options will def work for me. However, instead of the DJI Osmo, I have a Canon Powershot V10, which I love! 😄 Thanks again for sharing!
This is a great video - exactly what I needed.
Great video. Thanks for sharing
Wish these back up options would work with iPhone 14. I do not personally need or even like or want to spend any money for the 15 which USBc would be the ONLY reason. I use to use a NEXTO portable back up hard drive back in the day, although it was "expensive" it was awesome. I cannot believe in 2024 no one has invented or made a newer cheaper better version. After all it was just an HD with a CF and SD card slot that would back up files. Nowadays with SSD it seems it could be faster, lighter and easier to make.
Great useful tips as always!
Hi man, have being following you guys for a while, thanks for the tips n ideas. It is always plasure to see your upbeat videos. You guys put a lots of love into it.
PS: I still have you A7IV guides and setups saved and use them often as my go-to
Great video!!!! 🙌🏼 🙌🏼
Great video. I've been using a similar setup: iPhone, Osmo Pocket 3 and Sony a7c ii. Wish my production quality were as good as yours!
just back from an Iceland photo trip, the Anker Prime 100W GaN (Gallium Nitride) Wall Charger is a great wall charger, half the size of an Apple 14" MBP charger, can charge a laptop, tablet, and phone form a single charger,
here is a simpler and lighter way to backup your SD or Micro SD card with iPhone 15. This doesn't require attaching a battery and SSD drive to a hub. Just use the SD and Micro SD slots in the hub or SD card reader. Copy (not MOVE as you said) files from one to the other.
I can backup to the phone and playbook on the go then copy to my ssd later for short trips. I am probably going to use my crucial ssd when we go to Caribbean because I will only be making a few posts at port stops. Portable usb-c to usb with a usb card reader is really handy. I Shoot photos with my Canon M6 mk II. I trust my phone for video. I will just dump video straight to the ssd drive and edit the next week on my computer.
The writing on this was award worthy and resulted in me watching repeatedly because I lost focus from chuckling.
The combo method works best for me, Main camera A7s3 with zoom lens and a second camera like a DJI or ZV1 2 for talking shots .. :)
Which do you like better? DJI OP3 or ZV1 II for talking shots?
@@JasonVong I don’t have the DJI (yet)
So between 16-25mm or 16-35mm gm ii, for travel vlogging with good quality... which one would you recommend? I'm still debating (and I've already saw your last video about the 16-25mm lol).
I have the DJI pocket and want to film while driving. Any suggestion for a car mount? thanks!
After months considering the Fuji system I've chosen to go Sony for the myriad of cheap options with better video quality. I'll probably get an A6000 with a small Sigma 30mm F/2.8 for casual every day use and complete it with a TTArtisan 56mm F/1.8 for more zoomed in shots later on. If I can splurge a bit I'll get the A6300
Welcome to the family! A6x00 series are also lighter so I think you'll like it for travel. If you're like me, afraid of taking photos in public because of the shutter sound, I would recommend you look into A6100 instead of A6000. A6100 allows me to take photos more freely, in locations like train/ restaurants in Japan because of the option to have silent shutter. But I don't quite like the fact that I can't tap focus when I'm using phone app to control the camera, definitely check out the models to see which function matters to you more
The intro was so good 😮
We have a similar set up now.
We had a Sony Zve10 and a gopro.
Now we have a Sony A7 IV and the insta360 X4.... The dji wireless mics are a good addition too.
Wireless mics are game changing and the fact that can internally record. We can’t live without em! Glad the new kit is serving you well!
@@JasonVongthanks your videos helped me select the A7 IV, so THANK YOU ❤
Another way is to use the Wi-Fi file transfer which is fast on the pocket 3. Then you can use a usb stick direct to the iphone without any external power supply. I have a 1tb usb stick. SSD is still the fastest but this is the most simplest way to back up
Great video
Opinion needed A7CR or ZV-E1? Which one would you get for a hybrid camera for vlog, pictures and webcam?
I have been backing up my data on trips since early 2018 like this, but a bit simpler. OTG adapter with 2 USBs (or a simple hub) to Android phone. SD card reader to one, SSD to other. phone gives just enough current for both. Copy in file-explorer app from SD to SSD. much less cables.
I found if I didn’t connect it to the wall, there is a strong chance of it losing power and disconnecting. The wall plug just gives me a peace of mind as I have 0 dc so far *knocks on wood*
yep, android phone is not crippled like the iphone as far as file management :P
How do you stabilise your camera for videos? Thanks
Hi Jason. Can the manfrotto handle the A7IV with 24-70 lens?
Hey Jason! Am I right to assume that from 5:14 to 5:17 you have the dji Mic 2 connected via bluetooth to your phone? I have the mic 2 as well and I'm honestly not a big fan of the quality when not using the RX. But it works... so yeah. 😂😅
Does the DJI Mic that comes with the Osmo pocket 3 creator combo work if I use it for my mirrorless camera?
I like prefer the Ulanzi Osmo Pocket 3 cage as it uses the DJI quick release systems, has retractable GoPro fingers and gives you a quarter inch mount on the back.
very useful
For the super sweat setup, what do you carry/use for stabilization for the 4k video? The DJI Ronin? Even if it's tiny, I find it still a bit bulky and heavy when trying to hand carry.
The RS3 mini but yes sadly it’s still bulky. I wouldn’t use it on a casual outing unless I know I’m making specialized videos that call for it.
Smh i had my notifications off mr jason, i would have grabbed the a7cr instead of the a7cii if i would have seen this video first, but thank you for your video mr jason
What do you think about luminar neo ?
Since when do USB charging sockets have data connections? 🙄Thanks for your video.
I have android phone and ssd samsung T7, I can move files with usbc-usbc cable.
Bestsellers!
aside from having the a7fo instead of the a7siii I'm good to go then.
They make "USB condoms" that have no data lines. All they can do is charge.
why not using the insta360 go 3S instead of DJI osmo Pocket 3?
I love these more minimalist travel setups, I would love to see a similar video about video workflow without a laptop. I prefer traveling with just an iPad or iPhone and leave my laptop at home
Yeah I want to experiment more on the iPhone and iPad workflow as well! Editing photos with Adobe LR has always been good but I haven’t quite found the best video editing app yet. CapCut is somewhat the closest in terms of the best workflow experience esp since you can edit on both computer and phone! + the auto caption is unmatched for a FREE app
@@JasonVong will CapCut import the Sony videos from the SD? And WHY does Sony hide the files inside a silly file structure?!
Hey !
How do you manage with Dji mic 2 when you are recording for let's say full day.
Do you turn it off and on each time you are done with one location?
It really depends. But yes in most scenarios we would have it off once we move on from a location.
Whenever we take breaks and food breaks, the mics go back in the box for charging. Same goes for the other gear as well. I charge em and chance I get.
For spontaneous moments, we would just use the on board mic or the iPhone and do some post processing. We found Adobe Podcast AI to do an incredible job for voice isolation!
@@JasonVong thankyou ❤️
Wait wait, why didn't use a sony adapter for DJI Mic 2? Wasn't that better?
That usb hub trick is such a great idea for copying photos!
It’s been saving me a ton of back pain during those quick weekend trips!
Second, i love your consepts and also loved this video, you will always get support from me ♥
I just can't bring myself to walking around with an ego stick. I am looking to get a new camera though. Picking a lens is the hardest part.
Come on Man throw in the X4
id swap out the pocket 3 and get an action 4 and throw in a drone...
I just connect my t9 to the phone and transfer all data, no extra cables 😎
Don't you transfer them two times doing it like that? Card to phone and phone to ssd?
2:40
Literally
👍👍awesome vide 7:15
it's 2024, there has to be a quicker and more seamless way to backup photos and videos while we're on the move
Every day I copy my files for the day into a folder on my Samsung Galaxy. Then I move that onto my sandisk 1tb sdd
Produce a comprehensive video focusing on the pocket. 😊
Can’t wait for this tacky trend of holding lavaliere mics to the face to pass.
You really stress over a minor stuff, huh?
You ain’t kidding. Huge pet peeve.
I hate that. Everybody is at it too
lol
so easily triggered
Hoping to see more content from you using dji pocket3
Anything in particular you like to see for the OP3? It’s been covered quite a bit on TH-cam so not sure what i can provide yet
@@JasonVong indoor low light performance.. and best setting for cinematic shot..
Viviane VS Chelsea, who is your favourite Squarespace VRP ? Round 1 !
can you check out the sony xperia 1vi please.
Sadly they are not selling XPERIA in the US 😢
@@JasonVong don't let that stop you now :P :P you're Jason Vong, you can get your hands on it if you wish it.
this is an excellent video... thank you, and your wife is stunning btw ;-)
Can I use Android phone for this hub?
for android it's much simpler .. just an OTG cable (dongle) with 2 USB inputs. (some even have integrated SD/micro SD slots). connect to phone with card and SSD attached. Android recognizes them as external drives. You can then freely copy from one to an other. Much cheaper solution that does not need external power source.
Neewer makes ND and CP filters that are thin enough that the Osmo Pocket 3 will power down and return to its "closed" position with the filters in place.
Nice! That’s handy! I will look into them! Any major IQ difference between the Neewer and OEM filters?
@@JasonVong I haven't tried the OEM filters, but I posted a video where I used the Neewer filters for pretty much ALL of the outdoor shots. There's one clip of a koi pond, where I stacked the CP on an ND16, without vignetting. Most of the outdoor clips were shot with an ND64.
th-cam.com/video/yRJLs5wQywA/w-d-xo.html
Samsung users laugh because they only need to connect the backup External SSD to the phone port (usb-c) and transfer everything to the hard drive. 🤣🤣 and for the camera only connect the camera to the phone by usb-c to usb-c cable. 🤪
Min 2:42 Vivian's face, lol!
Yesterday I was out without my camera (A7R III). Felt a bit like being without any clothes, but sometimes you just don't want to carry a bag along. :D
I had my phone with me which is an iPhone 14+. Coming home, looking at the images, I was quite disappointed. Having recently tested Sony's Xperia 1 VI, this walk was my final step to give it a chance. iPhones are great as reliable gadgets, but they really suck at photo/video. It looks so unpleasing to see all this exaggerated HDR/saturation/contrast/fake-sh*t. What I really missed were S-Cinetone for mobile (which gives a remarkably natural and ready out of the box result with great colours) and the opportunity to have an 85-170mm lens with me. Even though the quality isn't really stellar, it's very practical. I don't expect a smartphone to be a wonder of a camera, it just shouldn't make things worse than they are by its processing. Shooting video on the 85mm lens is quite cool, too, because you really get some of that large aperture separation - without AI!
But the biggest difference: You can expose an image, capture it as JPG+RAW and both will look relatively equal. On the iPhone with 3rd party apps, you can capture DNGs, but figuring out what might be the correct exposure is like guessing or taking photos with your eyes shut. The RAWs always come out extremely underexposed. You just cannot work with it, even if you know how to set a correct exposure. The aids will always show you something different than your RAW exposure. With the Sony, this problem doesn't exist at all, even though the RAWs are not always comparably sharp.
Not an Android fan, to be honest, but I'll give them a chance. They did a really good job on this device.
I just returned from a 38-day European Family Adventure and I took a Sony A7 Cii with a 16-25mm, 24-50mm, and 85 1.8 taking only two lenses each day, Pocket 3, and my Samsung S23 Ultra. This combination worked perfectly for me.
I wish i knew the backup tip when i went to Cuba. Because not only did i bring my laptop with card reader, i brought my Canon R7 with a Sigma 17-300 and 18-35 f1.8, and my then newly minted Canon RFS 10-18. On top of that, my Osmo Action4 and Pocket 3 Adventure and Creator pack, respectively. This tip would have saved my back.
Luckily you’re prepared for your next travel!
I was today years old when I learned raw dogging a USB outlet was a thing 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Oh yes. Very dangerous! 😂
2:42 :)
Film?
Have i ever seen you two kiss in a video before? 🤔
You'll be safe with a 3rd party charging only cable lelel
Osmo 3 is great for walking around, horrible for talking head.
Never ever rely on phone for payment!
Cash IS and will always be kin.
I love all your videos kids! 👏🏽🙏🏾

Do I need this Info? No. - Do I watch it anyway? Hell yeah!
Appreciate your support 😂🥰
I don't know man, the current thumbnail has the camera with no lenses, it feels like taking pics without one would not be the same 🙈
