Thank you to the host & the dr.. appreciated the information.
Science is complicated and multi-layer. On top of that CKD is something you need to eat based on your labs. I'd rather being fully informed by listening to loads of information and make decision on my own based on my condition rather than having a yes/no answer. Thanks for your video!
We could not have said it better ourselves :)
😂
I have polycystic kidney disease and cystic fibrosis, thank you so much for giving me this information.
Of course! We are happy to have you hear and hope you find out channel informative and helpful1
Thank you so much for that ! As always very much appreciated!
He’s right about black and white answers. Most people just want to be told yes or no on this or that but each person is unique. I like to listen to different people and combine the knowledge to what works best for me.
Exactly, each person is unique and has different needs. And ultimately it matters what you're eating eggs with and what the rest of your eating habits look like!
Thank you Doctor and Michelle for your knowledge and clarity. Much gratitude.
Our pleasure! So glad it is helpful!
Thank you for the full discussion and clarity! The two different food combinations along with the PRAL comparison is especially informative.
So glad it was helpful!
So much excellent information.
Glad it was helpful!
That was really helpful for me. Thank you both very much!
Our pleasure! We are glad it was helpful :)
In my journey with PKD you guys make my day every time there’s new information for kidney health
So happy we can help you on your PKD journey!
Good explanation, thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Hello from London, Thanks Doc and Michelle for taking the time to explain the information. This and your other videos are brilliant and a lifeline for us. We bought your book Michelle which is helping us to sort out what my mother can eat, she has more choices now we know levels for potassium, protein etc. Truly grateful for your channel and videos- an invaluable source of info, keep up the excellent work!😉
Hello all the way to London! We are so happy that our channel and resources are helping you and your mother out. Thank you for being here!
🙏Bless you, both @@PlantBasedKidneyHealth
What’s a good preparation for egg Dr Hashmi?
Thank you for the vegan omelette substitute with chickpea flour!! Avid learner here to soak up info and share the knowledge. XO
You are so welcome! It's a very easy swap :)
Doc & Michelle thank for all you do!! Please overlook those who don’t understand the value in sharing this informative knowledge because it’s caring. Thank you so much! We are glad you see the value in our videos and continue to learn from them!
Thanks so much for your support!
What a comforting talk about eggs greetings from Ecuador. What about mushrooms is it ealthy for CKD and the tofu portions daily?
Hi! Tofu is a great plant protein for CKD and mushrooms a great fungi. Mushrooms are moderate in potassium. Portions of both would depend on individual protein and mushroom needs, but both definitely fit into a kidney protective diet!
Thank you Doc & Michelle, now i have clarity about eggs...pls. post more pictures about meal combo for breakfast, lunch and dinner which are kidney friendly...and one more thing is basmati rice & rye bread are good for kidney?
Check out Michele's kidney cooking channel with recipes: www.youtube.com/@plantbasedkidneyskitchen Basmati rice and rye bread can generally both fit into a kidney friendly diet.
Thanks! Would you please add a moment to every video to explain how the topic relates to transplant patients? For example, is glaucoma expected on the transplanted (tacrolimus damaged my kidneys) as much as in the diabetic?
Hi Lelolai. In regards to this topic (eggs) and kidney transplant, yes you can eat eggs after kidney transplant. The same rule applies for not add salt, frying them etc. We will also be sure to make a mention of transplant patients in the future videos as well.
Thank you for your analysis. I wonder if another reason for the difference between European results and American results is due to the diet fed the hens. Pasture raised eggs are 2-3 times more expensive than corn/soy (treated with glyphosate) eggs in the US. Just a thought.
Definitely a great point and possibly contributes!
At least what ive seen, the data shows that there is no difference american eggs and europeans eggs, nor nutrition makeup of the eggs. Because then youd have to further extend it and say that the diet of hens in every country should also have an impact on the eggs there as well.
“If you mix raisin with turds, it is still turds”
The real issue is toxins permitted by the EU in the production of eggs vs what is permitted by US authorities. And yes, the diet of hens in each individual country could be different. Then, what is the impact on our kidneys? As a kidney transplant, this question is crucial. Further, for various health reasons, I have no desire to be a vegan.
@@tommyleejohnson7308 and then eggs in the Caribbean, Latin America, Asia (where eggs are a staple) & Africa?... The world is bigger than EU and US.
But i do think you get to the real issue: Simple put, Americans refuse to eat a more diversified diet to the point it is killing us. And we further like to look for everything else and everyone else to blame, because as you say "I have no desire to...".
there is a reasonable balance between complete meat and vegan, which was sort of the point of this video. Eggs can be fine in a reasonably BALANCED meal.
What would be your opinion on a stage 1-2 CKD taking a phos-serine or Alpha GPC supplement?
We can look more into this supplement. But definitely recommend discussing all supplements with your health care team so you can get individualized advice/recommendations!
@@PlantBasedKidneyHealth please. You have isolated supplements of phos-choline, phos. serine.
From the different professionals the answer is unclear, some say theyre phospholipids so they are bad due to proteinuria. But then others say well choline is important for the brain and unless terrible high dose its not bad. The worry of TMAO they say is generally less of a worry as it would be cleared regular exercise as is already recommended.
Do you have a video on lowering phosphorus for dialysis patients
Check out our phosphorus playlist!
Fine tutorial! I would also like to see one on the bioavailability of plant proteins. I understand it is generally around 60 percent.
Yes, plant protein have lower overall bioavailabilty than animal proteins. However, plant proteins continue show improved CV and all cause mortality compared to animal proteins in a number of studies. (Song M, Fung TT, Hu FB, Willett WC, Longo VD, Chan AT, et al. Association of animal and plant protein intake with all-cause and cause-specific mortality. JAMA Int Med. 2016;176(10):1453-63.; Chen Z, Glisic M, Song M, Aliahmad HA, Zhang X, Moumdjian AC, et al. Dietary protein intake and all-cause and cause-specific mortality: results from the Rotterdam Study and a meta-analysis of prospective cohort studies. Eur J Epidemiol. 2020;35(5):411-29.)
What is it about frying that is bad? The oil or grease you might be cooking it in? Simply heat from a fryinbg pan as opposed to an air fryer or something else?
Thank you! So plain boiled egg for occasional snack will not kill me. Got it
Definitely won't kill you! We would recommend pairing with fruit and/or veggies to lower the PRAL of the egg though :)
O.M.G. !!!!
ARE EGGS GOOD OR BAD?
YES OR NO?
This is another great video. One thing that I wish was added would be how to get the nutrients that you spoke about that are positive from eggs like Lutein from plant sources. The video leaves me thinking to protect eyes and other issues related to lutein maybe I need to eat eggs. But as a vegan, I can’t do that, so what is the substitute for that nutrient in the plant world?
Great point and question! Plant sources that are higher in lutein include leafy greens (like kale, arugula, collards, spinach), peas, corn, and brussels sprouts.
I usually boil or poach a couple of eggs for lunch 1 x per week.
They can definitely make for an easy lunch addition. Hopefully paired with lots of veggies :)
What does foamy urine means? I'm really confused about it😢
Check out our video specifically on foam/bubbles in urine and what it can mean!
@@PlantBasedKidneyHealth thanks a million ❤️🙏
soy is inflammatory.. what can you say about this?
Soy is not inflammatory...we have a whole video on soy that you can check out! And there are a lot of plant protein options that are not soy too. One great option is pumfu. It is like tofu but made out of pumpkin seeds.
Is 4 eggs white okay after transplantation?
Portion will depend on your individual protein needs and what else you're consuming the egg whites with! Would definitely recommend pairing egg whites with veggies and a side of fruit as we outline towards the end of this video :)
Except for water everything else seems not to be good for the kidney!
Although I’m a carnivore, I find that the kidney inflammation is helpful.
Information
We're glad you are still finding our episodes/information helpful!
What about just egg whites?
You can definitely do just the egg whites if you want. Egg whites will be much lower in phosphorus (but also other nutrients). Egg whites are a lower PRAL (potential renal acid load) too.
I eat animal protein including dairy and eggs 1 meal 3x per week. Otherwise I eat plant based Whole Foods.
That's great. We're glad you found a good balance!
I've surfed the internet long enough to discover there are pros and cons to ALL foods. And if you've had your gallbladder removed and your pancreas is not working the best then meats/fats and most oils for instance are NOT your friends....plant based proteins is then better.
Doctor egg white omlate with olive oil is ok for kidney patients. Kindly your opnion
A yes or no answer would be good
Of course it isn't as simple or black and white as a yes or no!
An egg for an egg
11:00 He's being sick at the sound of all that healthy food, spinach instead of bacon. Healthy eating takes commitment folks.
Every vitamin in eggs except vitamin c there supplement s too
Plenty of places to get vitamin C from in fruits and veggies :)
Plant based and kidney health , should be illegal to put in The same sentence. The only 3 people i know that got off of dialysis did it on a full carnivore diet. Fruits and veggies have carbs and oxilates which poison your kidney. Also salt is not bad if your not eating any carbs. I mean “no” carbs including the carbs that come from fruits and veggies. If you are reading this and have kidney failure and are on the dialysis stop eating everything but eggs and red meat. I tried all routes, vegan, veggiterian, no processed food. And the only thing that worked was meat, salt, and water. Listening to these doctors are gonna keep you sick. Not fully their fault though its the info they were intoctornated with
We have other episodes on oxalates and carnivore diet that people can check out that have questions about that. You obviously have very strong and different views than us so no need to argue or try and convince. Our goal with our channel is to provide people with kidney disease information and education. Whole food, plant predominant diets have been shown to target and improve many aspects of problems that people with kidney disease have (high blood pressure, insulin resistance, high phosphorus, uremia, gut imbalances, and much more).
@@PlantBasedKidneyHealth i had kidney disease and was on dialysis for 3 years listening to the same advice my plant based dietitian gave me and only progressively got worse ever year. The human gut doesnt benefit from fiber at all. You should listened to doctor ken berry and anothony chafee the only people who got my labs better and off dialysis. All you indoctrinated “plant based” gurus are killing people slowly and dont even know it. Trust me i believed that lie for years and it just made me worse. I have the labs to prove it
The fact is that people react differently to different diets. I saw a doctor with years of experience and he said that one patient was able to halt his CKD and slightly improve his kidney function after 5 years by cutting out pork and other processed foods. Other patients significantly improved kidney function with a vegan diet where other patients decreased kidney function with a carnivore diet. There's a video wit a guy that had 5 percent kidney function that was able to get off dialysis with a strict grass fed meat and specific vegetable diet. There's another man that with a TH-cam channel that improved his CKD significantly with a varied diet of everything from chicken drumsticks to apples. So my friend experimentation is the key. Also in another study dialysis patience that included intermittent fasting lived a further 700 to 800 days.
You're full of shit
Promoting carnivore for ckd is reckless at the least
I can’t tolerate tofu
Why go that long talking about it, say it clearly and directly please
Can u just answer the question
That's exactly what we do. There are potential pros and cons of eggs for CKD so we address those and explain how to safely eat eggs for people with kidney disease.
Can't you just understand the well balanced analysis?
To much BS until you answer the egg question
We're sorry you feel that way. It is important for us to educate our audience and explain pros and cons and how to safely consume eggs for people that want to with CKD.
@@PlantBasedKidneyHealth Don't apologize to that sucka Doc . 💯
