I watch your program regularly because you have helped me practice self care and you have prevented me from becoming a nervous wreck over my condition. Thanks so much for using TH-cam as a teaching tool and for offering free expertise to those of us who suffer. Your sense of humor helps, too. God bless you for being a caring physician! If I weren't so old, I'd move across the country so I could be your patient.

Can't say thank you enough for saving me from several decades of pain & suffering dear Dr. Chung, my quality of life has immensely improved.

Without you and these videos, I would still be a mess. I have had bleeding hems for a very long time and then I got a fissure. Doctors didn’t help me at all. YOU, though, finally explained all the things to me so I understood what was happening. You gave me tools and I was able to heal myself. I was able to finally take control of my situation. I am so much better than I was before. I have found that my diet needs to be concentrated around fresh cooked vegetables and lean proteins. I also need to move everyday at least 5,000 steps. I was also drinking too much water. You taught me to use the Pranicura, sitz baths in my tub with the Revivol-XR, that “fiber” isn’t necessarily the answer, and that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I never would have thought I would be on the other side of what I was going through a year ago. I’m beyond grateful that you started this channel and that I found it! THANK YOU!!!

Hey Dr. Chung. As a person with an anal fistula I really appreciate you taking the time from your family and other things you’d probably rather be doing to educate us on this condition and the possible treatment options. After suffering an unbearable amount of pain from a new fistula channel that wasn’t draining, I had surgery at the VA hospital here in Las Vegas. I was dealing with that ok and scheduled for another surgery, this time to put a bovine plug in the tract and have a flap procedure at the same time. In postoperative recovery I was informed by the resident surgeon that the doctor opened up the tract instead and now I have a pretty large open wound that hast to heal. I wasn’t given very detailed instructions as to how to care for myself to heal as quickly as possible or anything other than instructions to take a sitz bath at least after each bowel movement. I still have control of my bowels so I’m incredibly happy about that. I’m 64 and very active when not in pain. Any recommendations? I had the surgery last Thursday, 4/11.

You are such a great source of information here on TH-cam on a rather touchy subject! You've explained to me my own issues, my own bottom (haha) health has improved and I find your demeanor extremely educated, humorous, approachable and charming! I had profusely bled once a few years ago, but it was a one-time occurrence, and thought maybe a polyp had ruptured, or hemorrhoid-related, just didn't know, but it ceased so decided to not worry about it, because I don't like doctors who just don't give info, slap an Rx at you when leaving and have no communication skills with their patients. I find you refreshing in your communication, and so grateful you explain so much. May God bless you immensely sir! I thank you for what you do here. It is helping so many.

I've watched many of your videos, and I'm so grateful for your advice on MiraLax. Now I use it effectively every day and I don't have to even think about constipation or painful bowel movements. Also, our bidet is a lifesaver with small hemorrhoids. It allows a small shower back there and doesn't require a sitz bath but you still get very clean without irritating your backside. It's also a lot faster than wiping. It cleans you up in a minute or so and all you need is a towel or TP to dry off. We buy far less toilet paper than we used to and spend far less time sitting on the toilet. That's helped me the most.

Post op day 5 from hemroiddectomy (2 removed, one external one internal and it was prolapsed) happy I got the surgery, knowing they would be gone! The fear and recoevry scared me for the longest and one day in the bathroom after a bm I broke down and said enough is enough and got it done (after I tried everything to get rid of them). Day of surgery went well! Woke up same day and went home. Day one not bad still feeling the numbness from the shot. I will say the recovery is brutal the first few days but it does get better. The bms are the worst cause you dont know if you drank enough water/miralax/fiber. The wait, then bm pain is what you have to get past and everyone is diff you may or not have the same pain or less. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now and counting down the days of recovery:) Sitz bath are your best friend! After a bm! Just ordered some of that rx mix to add to the sitz bath. Day 3-5 for me were the worst but having the support of my loved ones and few groups on reddit that shared their stories made this process much better and knew I wasnt alone in this. To everyone going through this whether you got the surgery done or not, hope it gets better for all of you! No one should go though this and have to deal with it day to day, weighs on your mental heavily! Good luck everyone! We got this!

Are sitz bottles okay to use and how often can you use it? I read you don't want to get it too wet too much to make the wound too soft and longer healing process and possible infection (thats with the sitz bath but I'm talking about actually sitting in the tub).

When to stop using sitz bath after surgery?

I just has Open Heart Surgery and I am on sternum precautions. I can get myself in and out of a bath at the moment. I developed a fissure due to the narcotics I was on. I grabbed one of these toilet hats. I am afraid it might aggravate a hemorrhoid sitting on it though.

What is a toilet tub? How does a sitz bath actually look? It fits into the toilet? I have no idea! I'm 55, and probably need this info in the next 10 years. Do you do this in the bathtub? Is it a big bowl that fits into the toilet? How does it look?

I'm felling so scare. and i got idea to make my muschel relax when poop. i poop inside the warm water of that kids plastic bathtub. it's working for me. the poop out from anus easily, and without hurt. so i don't need take long time. i agree about the grafitty. i don't want take a long time sit on the toilet. the question is it ok poop in the warm salt water? ?
