I love this one, it is beautiful. The colors are yummy. I just did my first acrylic painting and bought Nova paints. I didn't like the transparency in parts. But I will learn. I still like it though. Thank you for sharing 😊.
Hi Robyn! Good for you for creating your first acrylic painting. Yay! For the paints that are transparent, I like to mix in other colors to create more opaque colors. Give that a try!

Who has ever seen a field of flowers? IN Texas, we have highways banked with wildflowers in spring, all over the state (thanks to Ladybird) but an entire "field" of flowers is not something I or anyone I know has ever seen. Must be a California thing. But the Indian paintbrush and the bluebonnets stretch for miles and are great in the spring.
Where I grew up in England there were loads of fields of flowers grown by farmers (tulips, daffodils etc). Especially in spring, every field would be a different colour as far as the eye could see. It was beautiful. I’m sure there are lots of places like that, Holland definitely for one. We also have plenty of fields of wild-flowers. And Betty has talked about there being fields full of flowers in the part of Europe where her parents live. Maybe its just not a thing in Texas.
I'm sorry to hear that you don't see fields of flowers in your part of Texas. However, bluebonnets count! I think of fields of flowers as any type of flower and any size of field. It can be a patch on the side of the roadway or seen during hikes. I even love weeds that bloom! Giveaway. Hello Betty, I love the process you use to begin to demystify the substrate. Oh joy, so much pressure is reduced. I have a question regarding the consideration of distance. In this painting I sense an atmospheric reduction of size and intensity of color. Although it is not overly emphasized. Wildflowers are significant to me. I grew up in SoCal and oh my the poppies are magnificent. I live in Oregon now and I have not found its equal or even the a proximity to that 😢. I am attracted to landscape but would like to translate those to an abstract motifs. Jill Fahnestock
Hi Jill! Oregon is a wonderful state, but I totally understand about not finding poppies that match the intensity of color like the ones in California. As for the colors in my painting, I tend to often used bright and bold colors in the beginning and the quiet them down a little as I work through the piece. Hi Sandra! I usually don't add any mediums to my paints, however, lately (after this video was recorded) I have been adding glazing medium to my paints or matte medium over my marks. Thanks so much for watching!

I love this one, it is beautiful. The colors are yummy. I just did my first acrylic painting and bought Nova paints. I didn't like the transparency in parts. But I will learn. I still like it though. Thank you for sharing 😊.
Hi Robyn! Good for you for creating your first acrylic painting. Yay! For the paints that are transparent, I like to mix in other colors to create more opaque colors. Give that a try!

Who has ever seen a field of flowers? IN Texas, we have highways banked with wildflowers in spring, all over the state (thanks to Ladybird) but an entire "field" of flowers is not something I or anyone I know has ever seen. Must be a California thing. But the Indian paintbrush and the bluebonnets stretch for miles and are great in the spring.
Where I grew up in England there were loads of fields of flowers grown by farmers (tulips, daffodils etc). Especially in spring, every field would be a different colour as far as the eye could see. It was beautiful. I’m sure there are lots of places like that, Holland definitely for one. We also have plenty of fields of wild-flowers. And Betty has talked about there being fields full of flowers in the part of Europe where her parents live. Maybe its just not a thing in Texas.
I'm sorry to hear that you don't see fields of flowers in your part of Texas. However, bluebonnets count! I think of fields of flowers as any type of flower and any size of field. It can be a patch on the side of the roadway or seen during hikes. I even love weeds that bloom! Hi Betty…. I have been watching your 10 minute abstracts. I caught your shorts and one of them had a recording of a man’s voice reciting a poem or song (?) about feeling safe here. Giveaway. Hello Betty, I love the process you use to begin to demystify the substrate. Oh joy, so much pressure is reduced. I have a question regarding the consideration of distance. In this painting I sense an atmospheric reduction of size and intensity of color. Although it is not overly emphasized. Wildflowers are significant to me. I grew up in SoCal and oh my the poppies are magnificent. I live in Oregon now and I have not found its equal or even the a proximity to that 😢. I am attracted to landscape but would like to translate those to an abstract motifs.

Hi Jill! Oregon is a wonderful state, but I totally understand about not finding poppies that match the intensity of color like the ones in California.
As for the colors in my painting, I tend to often used bright and bold colors in the beginning and the quiet them down a little as I work through the piece.
