I didn't get a console for 5 years because nothing was amazing, Horizon Zero came close but SpiderMan is going to make me pull the trigger. Edit: got a ps4 pro today with horizon zero dawn and will get God of War as well. 30fps doesn't feel that bad especially when the game is good.

Also this might be just a me thing bc I like venom a lot as a character, but I wanted to see more of venom, the way they advertised the game made you think that half if not more of the game was going to be about venom which sadly wasn’t the case, but overall it was a good game. I enjoyed it :)

Player 1 yeah I'm not a fan of dlc either and would prefer that games come with all content at launch but unfortunately that's not the world we live in so waiting for a complete edition is the only option. If you can wait for one that is.
As much as I admire the work and dedication that they put into the web swinging, I really wish that they could give us some kind of game mode where you can’t control Spider-Man’s momentum in midair as much as you can currently, I’d love for webs swinging to be skill based, like instead of just moving the joystick to where you want to go you would actually have to choose where Spider-Man shoots his web and then let the realistic momentum do the rest of the work. I hope I’m making sense, and I hope someone on the dev team will see this, I really want a mode or mini game or cheat code that turns the web swinging into a more realistic, kind of like that independent attack on titan game?
I have watched this video many times on different channels. But now that it’s on the official game informer channel in high quality and you can hear the amazing triumphant music as Spiderman swings around the city in a truly beautiful fashion, I have to admit I teared up a bit. Spiderman is my favorite Superhero and always has been. He’s finally having his true moment. This is the official climax of Spiderman’s lifetime. Marvel has finally hired the right people to get the job done. It honestly warms my heart to know that the people working on this game are truly passionate about the character and it’s no longer about money. Insomniac did a fantastic job making sure the fans got what they want. Lastly I’d like to say that this game is 100% going to change my life and I hope you feel the same.
I think this is actually a strong Game Of The Year contender. I’m more hyped for this than Red Dead Micro-Transaction 2. Let’s go Insomniac! Can’t wait for September 7th!

“Relaxation within Exhilaration”. I couldn’t explain it any better. When I was a kid I would get on my ps3 and swing a round the city in Spiderman 3 for hours. It was fun, yet relaxing. As soon as I finished a fight with a gang, I’d hold X to charge up my jump, jump up into the health that falls from the sky after a fight, and go right back to swingin.
I can wait until September to play the game, but it would be awesome if Insomniac released the soundtrack for the game early, because that music is amazing 🤩

At first I thought the swinging music would get annoying, but it changes as you progress the story :D And there's even post-story Jonah :D :D honestly thank you Insomniac for this blessed game
One of the best things I learned is that dive bombing into swings in this game is what the L2 trigger was in Spider-Man 2. L 2 accelerated your swing in Spidey 2. If you dive bomb into swings in this it'll take your swinging to another level! I just learned this the other day and it blew me away! I already thought the swinging was great. But when I learned and got good at this, it made the swinging even better!

I just hope as I'm pressing L3 and free falling towards the ground, I can web shoot downwards as well to reach the bottom quicker. That would be awesome. Over all this game is looking amazing!
Okay so this is something thats been really bothering me when i see it in game play, at 1:25 play the video at the lowest speed. You'll notice that he gets flung forward before he then shoots the web. Almost making the web pointless and it looks so weird to me. i notice it every time i watch in regular speed and it bugs the heck outa me. Anyone else notice this? hope its cleaned up by release! Also note that this animation doesn't always look like this, often it looks really good. just some odd ball occurrence
i totally agree with you! i think a lot of the web swinging looks good, but at the same time it looks super floaty, and at most times it feels like the webs are just there as a visual effect with him moving before the web is even shot.
i think the main problem is when he uses webs to pull himself forward, the basic swing usually looks really good. its when he does the straight forward momentum boost webs that throw everything off.
He was shooting the web down so it wouldn’t have given him much swinging momentum anyway. I think it was just to stop him from launching too far forward but you could be right.
The thing with web swinging is you can’t use actual physics and still have it look good at that height and speed. Not to mention that when you take actual physics into account, the only part of web-swinging that’s even really possible is the swing itself. You swing into a building? Splat. You fire a web to swing while even slightly close to the ground? You scrape right along the ground and splat. You shoot a web upwards? Say goodbye to your arm sockets. Reach a high speed? Forget about slowing down safely enough to stop swinging, not to mention that if you’re not wearing a top of the line compression suit your organs are jelly
Looks cool and all but physics are kinda weird tbh. Take 2:51 for example, his momentum changes before the web's stretchiness could take effect. They should've added an animation where spidey could've fallen a bit lower and his feet actually run on the ground for a fraction of a second.
Take your time when finishing the game, Spiderman is a special one for me..... I needed this game to be perfect as it can be, so take your time when polishing the already great looking game.

Bobby 1987 my be a bit of a learning curve but no more than a good play through . I would say less than a hour to get it all down then at some point , once your swinging like a pro. You should be able to do it all and then some....hopefully.
Probably. The Game Informer guys said you can pick it up easily within about 10 minutes, but people will complain. It looks vastly superior to any swinging we’ve ever had. I can’t wait. The footage shown here is without any upgrades too.

I mean, I guess it can be good, because it keeps up the momentum, but I'd still like the ability to kill meself by faceplanting at a wall, simply because I fucked up. I guess I'll wait and see.
Eh, it looks good but I don't think the swinging is that great really. The momentum you build up seems to just disappear when you start doing another move, and the actual swinging looks just like a animation and not based on pendulum momentum and gravity.
I'm not liking much the web yanking mechanic. At 1:34 he suddenly uses his web like some sort of pole vault, and then immediately there's that web zip that gives him a sudden boost from behind.
I agree, there's no sideways momentum when he attaches his web to a building on his left or right. Doesn't seem like it'll take much skill to control spidey if this is the case.
Yep, it's the lack of skill needed to make a sick move that is gonna let this game down. There's not much in the world that gives the kind of a adrenaline rush like pulling of a hard turn or sick move when it's skill involved.

(Ignore what I said, I missed the "Alpha footage" in the corner.) First of I doubt this is in alpha this late in development. With 5 months to go it's probably in beta. Also, if they were to implement a momentum based system that mimics real life momentum physics they would probably have to rework all of the web moving mechanics as those probably dosen't account that much for the speed you have when you execute for example the pushing of a building after running up it. Now I can't say that I am an expert on game development but it does seem a little late to take that kind of feedback from players and implement it. At this point in development I think they are more focused on optimizing bug fixing, and maybe developing future expansions.
If they did the webslinging right, speedruns of this game should be a treat to watch.

i think the main problem is when he uses webs to pull himself forward, the basic swing usually looks really good. its when he does the straight forward momentum boost webs that throw everything off.
He was shooting the web down so it wouldn’t have given him much swinging momentum anyway. I think it was just to stop him from launching too far forward but you could be right.
The thing with web swinging is you can’t use actual physics and still have it look good at that height and speed. Not to mention that when you take actual physics into account, the only part of web-swinging that’s even really possible is the swing itself. You swing into a building? Splat. You fire a web to swing while even slightly close to the ground? You scrape right along the ground and splat. You shoot a web upwards? Say goodbye to your arm sockets. Reach a high speed? Forget about slowing down safely enough to stop swinging, not to mention that if you’re not wearing a top of the line compression suit your organs are jelly

Sunset Overdrive had some of the most fun traversal mechanics in any game period - this looks to equal if not top that high bar.
Looks cool and all but physics are kinda weird tbh. Take 2:51 for example, his momentum changes before the web's stretchiness could take effect. They should've added an animation where spidey could've fallen a bit lower and his feet actually run on the ground for a fraction of a second.

Swinging seems off, he’s floating rather then swinging, gravity doesn’t seem to apply when we web zips, too linear. And also when ur falling and u turn the camera, spider man turns too. Makes no sense. And don’t get me started on the wall running, he can run up walls faster then the ground. Like wtf. Y’all are blinded by the hype. It’s gonna be meh

Bobby 1987 my be a bit of a learning curve but no more than a good play through . I would say less than a hour to get it all down then at some point , once your swinging like a pro. You should be able to do it all and then some....hopefully.

Probably. The Game Informer guys said you can pick it up easily within about 10 minutes, but people will complain. It looks vastly superior to any swinging we’ve ever had. I can’t wait. The footage shown here is without any upgrades too.

Ahan Bhalla They don't mention no fall damage in the video, but they have tweeted about it. As for insta-correct, I think that's what the wall -thing in the video will translate to. I mean, I guess it can be good, because it keeps up the momentum, but I'd still like the ability to kill meself by faceplanting at a wall, simply because I fucked up. I guess I'll wait and see.
Been anticipating this game for a long time
Eh, it looks good but I don't think the swinging is that great really. The momentum you build up seems to just disappear when you start doing another move, and the actual swinging looks just like a animation and not based on pendulum momentum and gravity.
I'm not liking much the web yanking mechanic. At 1:34 he suddenly uses his web like some sort of pole vault, and then immediately there's that web zip that gives him a sudden boost from behind.
I agree, there's no sideways momentum when he attaches his web to a building on his left or right. Doesn't seem like it'll take much skill to control spidey if this is the case.
Yep, it's the lack of skill needed to make a sick move that is gonna let this game down. There's not much in the world that gives the kind of a adrenaline rush like pulling of a hard turn or sick move when it's skill involved.

First of I doubt this is in alpha this late in development. With 5 months to go it's probably in beta. Also, if they were to implement a momentum based system that mimics real life momentum physics they would probably have to rework all of the web moving mechanics as those probably dosen't account that much for the speed you have when you execute for example the pushing of a building after running up it. Now I can't say that I am an expert on game development but it does seem a little late to take that kind of feedback from players and implement it. At this point in development I think they are more focused on optimizing bug fixing, and maybe developing future expansions.
